Well some of you are, clearly!

And I notice more talk about maintenance, which is evidently a very good sign.

I think the best way for maintenance is to gradually increase your carbs until weight loss either stops or you find that you're putting weight back on.

Don't rush out and fall face first into a plate of pasta, though! Start with fruit and veg (be careful with which fruits and how much), and possibly some legumes - e.g. lentils, or beans - i.e. we're looking to add 'good' carbs into the diet, rather than rush straight into 'accessible' carbs which have an immediate impact on your blood sugars.

Today is Day 1 of Week 1 in my 'let's get that last half stone off' before I go on holiday. (Except that last night's meal, plus a bit of 'eye off the ball' time, means it's more than half a stone now ...)

I've still got about 4 stone to lose but was very excited to see the scales at under 12 stone this morning. I've not seen them say 11 anything for years. :) That's just over 2 stone off since the end of February.

Thegoddessblossom · 26/06/2012 10:40

36 days until my holiday!! Grin

Whipoorwhill that is brilliant, well done! :-)

BIWItheBold · 26/06/2012 13:30

Jins - we're going to a villa this year, rather than the usual hotel - which is going to make an interesting change. We're also going for 2 weeks, rather than just one, and have a car for the fortnight. It's on the West coast, on the Royal Westmoreland Golf course - I can't wait!!!

GreenEyesAndHam · 26/06/2012 13:36

Is envy low carb?

Because I can taste it Envy

Grin
Jins · 26/06/2012 13:37

We did south coast previously but I got a bargain (2.5k for four of us in August!) a few years ago of a fortnight's all inclusive on Paynes Bay. That converted me to West Coast but the hotel has gone now :( I've just been looking at holidays as I feel I need some sun but the cheapest all inc I can get at the moment is 4.5K for an out of the way hotel in Crete and it doesn't seem like value for money

We've always had a car for a week. Always felt that there was more to see and wished we'd had a fortnight with it. You've probably seen most of the highlights by now but Ginger Beach near Crane Beach is a special favourite of mine and very hard to find.

BIWItheBold · 26/06/2012 13:46

Grin @ GreenEyes! I did consider posting a link, but thought that would be pushing people a little bit too far!

Jins - we've always gone for AI, and only for a week, so our excursions have been very limited Blush. Ginger Beach sounds worth finding.

I got a good deal on the villa as it was through a Twitter/MN Blogger 'friend'. Sadly only three of us are going as DS1 is hoping he will have a summer job by then.

OMG we've crawled the island from top to toe. Driving is so easy there and everyone is so helpful. We had one man stop in the middle of the only dual carriageway to tell us which direction we needed.

Must do things definitely Crane Beach/Ginger Bay. The Museum and Garrison area in Hastings. The Rum museum is good too and it's not in a touristy place so you get an interesting drive. Francia Plantation House, Morgan Lewis Windmall and St Nicholas Abbey are absolutely fantastic if they are open. Welchman Hall Gully is great for a cooler walk and there was a sort of mini zoo/wildlife near St Lawrence that was excellent.

So jealous but we're hoping to go back next year

NigellasGuest · 26/06/2012 14:18

Wow! I'm well jel! Grin

Back in the land of wet Tuesday afternoons that is my life i am very pleased to report that Tea's recommendation of mushrooms sauteed in cream seems to have done the trick and I have dropped a couple more pounds. It's not a coincidence, oh no.

AngieAir · 26/06/2012 14:18

Biwi - I don't think they're sabotaging, they just don't understand. They've accepted that bread gives me tummy ache but can't see wrong in any veg. The cake was very nice. I would have refused shop bought on nasty chemical grounds but refusal of home made causes deep offence.

Livelong - I'll try the no cake speech next time. Shocked at your friend though, how rude!

Jins · 26/06/2012 14:18

Not the rum museum. The Sir Frank Hutson Sugar Museum!

I'm enjoying a review of my holiday photos Grin

WillieWaggledagger · 26/06/2012 14:45

tut tut jins i don't think you should be tempting biwi to high carb museums

BettySuarez · 26/06/2012 15:01

Marking my place otherwise in danger of chatting to myself on the week 10 thread Grin

SwitchedtoEatingCheese · 26/06/2012 15:21

All this holiday talk.... I wasn't going to tell you all where I'm going as its so wonderful and exotic I knew I'd make you all so jealous.

SwitchedtoEatingCheese · 26/06/2012 15:22

Ok, Butlins :( in Skegness :(

BIWItheBold · 26/06/2012 15:31

Ah, but I've just been paddling here. Glorious sunny day in the north of Scotland, beautiful beach, half a dozen people on a two mile stretch of sand, and we drove there in my lovely new turquoise convertible, with the roof down.

To keep on topic, I resisted the post beach ice-cream and have just devoured a humunous prawn cocktail salad. I feel thin!

Jins · 26/06/2012 15:42

We're having the Great British Summer Holiday this year with a sneaky wee trip to Paris in August. So glad my kids are old enough to appreciate a city break rather than having to find somewhere with a sheep to pat Grin

Next year will be the last family holiday I expect so we are saving madly to get back to Barbados. I came close to applying for a job there a few years ago and still regret not trying :(

mumofjust1 · 26/06/2012 16:30

Can I dip in here with a question please?

I've just tried making oopsie rolls but somehow managed to fuck up Blush

I followed the recipe and instructions but have ended up with an oopsie tray bake Hmm

What did I do wrong?

Theeverexpandingrodders · 26/06/2012 17:02

Nigella did you just have the mushrooms on their own with cream or as a side to some meat or something?

QueenStromba · 26/06/2012 17:04

We need some evangelising over on this thread please.

londonone · 26/06/2012 18:14

Just baked myself an almond sponge choc cake with icing all low carb but actually binned it after one mouthful as realised it wasn't worth it. Do miss baking though. Also went and got fitted for new bra, have gone down a back size but up a cup size, I am now in comedy boobs territory! 34h! Aaa argh why won't they get smaller. New bra makes me look about a dress size smaller though, so I urge you all to get own to the bra fitters Smile

BIWItheBold · 26/06/2012 18:21

mumofjust1 - sorry - I can't help. I've never made them!
