Well some of you are, clearly!

And I notice more talk about maintenance, which is evidently a very good sign.

I think the best way for maintenance is to gradually increase your carbs until weight loss either stops or you find that you're putting weight back on.

Don't rush out and fall face first into a plate of pasta, though! Start with fruit and veg (be careful with which fruits and how much), and possibly some legumes - e.g. lentils, or beans - i.e. we're looking to add 'good' carbs into the diet, rather than rush straight into 'accessible' carbs which have an immediate impact on your blood sugars.

Today is Day 1 of Week 1 in my 'let's get that last half stone off' before I go on holiday. (Except that last night's meal, plus a bit of 'eye off the ball' time, means it's more than half a stone now ...)

Have just added to spreadsheet - no change from last week, or the week before! I'm glad I weigh myself every day because throughout the past week I have lost, gained, lost and gained again the same 2 or 3 lbs, each time OVERNIGHT!!

I have a feeling TOM is causing this,(taking ages to come) and in the meantime i am going to have a few nice plates of creamy mushrooms as recommended by Tea (although I know this doesn't count as a stall, yes I do listen to BIWI) Grin

MNP · 25/06/2012 10:49

Morning.

A small gain this week but less than I expected as experimented a little and after reading the links posted over the weekend I knew a gain was on the cards, am happy it was so little (in the greater scheme of things).

Maintenance will be somewhere around Dec/Jan for me if things go well, so a long way to go.

GreenEyesAndHam · 25/06/2012 10:50

Thanks Turtle I know I shouldn't moan when I look how far I've come

Oh and I saw vnmum's pics on the other thread- brill!

Jins · 25/06/2012 10:53

I'm a daily weigher too. Still after all these years I can't ditch the scales.

When my weightloss became almost imperceptable I used to take an average of my daily weights for a week. It seemed to even out the bumps (which are inevitable) and showed a small loss overall. We do vary in weight quite a bit over the course of a day, I'm about 3lbs up after a meal in the evening but I know it's not actual weight.

The average method works quite well to keep hopes up Grin

NigellasGuest · 25/06/2012 10:57

oh that's interesting Jins - perhaps I will write it down each day in that case, and do some averages!

QueenStromba · 25/06/2012 11:11

Morning all. I sprained my shoulder over the weekend so can't use my left arm :( Has anyone got any suggestions for meals that can be cooked and eaten with one hand and with just a bit of help from my DP? (although he did say he'd cut up my steak for me bless him).

FiddleDeFat · 25/06/2012 11:25

Fanon What was your weight last week? Then I can add your details onto the spreadsheet?

Theeverexpandingrodders · 25/06/2012 12:21

Is there anything you can do to help kickstart weightloss again ?

BIWItheBold · 25/06/2012 12:21

Go back to Bootcamp, and do it properly!

right after a bit of messing about last week, I am on it, I haveonly lost a pound since thurs and I feel like I have wasted an opportunity I am just struggling a bit to get my hed round it all, it feels so wrong because I hav been doing the low fat full of chemicals rubbish for so long.

B - bacon and eggs
L - chicken and green salad.
d - chicken, chorizo and courgette.

WillieWaggledagger · 25/06/2012 12:59

well done to everyone and hello to new joiners.

i am strict bootcamp until thurs when I am seeing my mother. we get on well but i do find seeing her incredibly stressful for a number of reasons and i would normally eat badly at this sort of time. i am channelling the 'being in control of my eating' thoughts that a wise bootcamper articulated (I have forgotten who, sorry)

tartiflette · 25/06/2012 13:03

Another daily weigher here. I think I always will be now, it's a hard habit to break and would feel like giving up control in some way. On a similar note, I agree singingtunelessly that reintroducing more carbs - once you get to maintenance stage - is a frightening prospect. Bootcamp rules are so clear (and I have found them so easy to follow for that reason) that it's scary to think of muddying the water.
Jins could you give an idea what 10g per meal might consist of? Sorry to pester but am fascinated by successful maintaining... Should point out I am getting ahead of myself as have another 10-14lb to go Blush

In other exciting news, totm has just made an appearance which is reassuring in view of only have lost 0.5lb this week Smile

tartiflette · 25/06/2012 13:04

Willie I find it extremely difficult to stick to this when I see my mum too. So many deep seated emotions around food and family etc.

NotMostPeople · 25/06/2012 13:13

Ooh Willie, me too I'm seeing mine in a few days and already want to eat Chocolate, but I'm going to be strong because I'm doing this for me and will not be stopped.

Jins · 25/06/2012 13:29

tartiflette it's kind of complicated because some of my additions are included within bootcamp anyway. Also I'm pretty much dairy free apart from butter and cheese so I don't have a cream/milk carb allowance. I'd guess that many of you will end up using up a lot of your maintenance carbs in cups of tea. Grin

For an evening meal I'd say in weightloss I'd be on around 5g with salad/ broccoli/cauli. I now add a tomato (3-4g) or some carrots (5g for 2tbsp!!!!) Occasionally I'll have one meal based around gluten free crackers (2 are 11g) but it used to be ONE ryvita (7g). Very rarely and only when it's jersey royal season I'll have ONE small new potato (7g) but I try to avoid it because it sets my carb cravings off Blush

I'll have strawberries, raspberries and rhubarb in season only. I can't eat any other fruit and a huge number of vegetables taste too sweet now. I made some butternut squash soup the other day for the family and a tiny taste made me feel sick - it was just like eating jam :(

Maintaining is all about understanding what makes you gain and keeping a close eye on the balance. Some people however just get to a goal weight and stay there without having to add carbs at all. It's all about finding what's right for you!

WillieWaggledagger · 25/06/2012 13:30

tarti and NMP sympathies to you two, it is the same for me wrt food/weight/mother...

i don't have children yet but how on earth do I avoid perpetuating that cycle?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/06/2012 13:37

Hello , still here, and am one who is sort of maintaining Smile

vnmum · 25/06/2012 13:51

Envy of all those whose skin has improved. Mine still hasn't despite doing this woe for 6 months now. I am still getting breakouts. Tried oil cleansing but not sure it was working as I'm not sure how often to do it. I think I may need a salon microdermabrasion then start a new routine. it's just annoying at my age.

Thanks FiddleDeFat, i was 209lb two weeks ago, 199lb last week and 195lb yesterday.

Jacaqueen · 25/06/2012 14:42

I feel shocking today. I had a few vodkas last night but feel like I have been on a 3 day bender. This woe is certainly good for my liver as I just can't seem to drink much anymore.

I am back down to 13st 2lbs but it is TOTM so fingers crossed the scales of doom drop another few pounds by the end of the week.

We go on holiday on Sunday. I would love to be in the 12 stone bracket before I go. I intend to carry on with this while I am away but I will be delighted if my weight just stays the same. When I get back I will crack on with getting rid of the final stone or two or three!

FiddleDeFat · 25/06/2012 14:55

Have duly added you to the spreadsheet gofaster.

Have also added Fanon who I am retrospectively awarding the joint title of Biggest Loser of the Week, with a fab 10lb loss.

AngieAir · 25/06/2012 15:09

I've gained a pound and a bit. Not surprised after being guilt tripped into eating carbs by relatives. Avoided the garlic bread and low fat synthetic salad dressing but had smoked salmon, ham, cheese and salad. However I was browbeaten into eating a baked sweet potato and homemade cake. Both very nice and fortunately didn't set off carb cravings but I'm annoyed.

But....measuremns of hip and waist the same, my trousers have sagged further down my hips and I sort of feel sleeker in the muffin top region.

Down to business today:
B: bacon and eggs, coffee with cream
L: pâté and cucumber
D: pie and greens (minus pastry)
