Well some of you are, clearly!

And I notice more talk about maintenance, which is evidently a very good sign.

I think the best way for maintenance is to gradually increase your carbs until weight loss either stops or you find that you're putting weight back on.

Don't rush out and fall face first into a plate of pasta, though! Start with fruit and veg (be careful with which fruits and how much), and possibly some legumes - e.g. lentils, or beans - i.e. we're looking to add 'good' carbs into the diet, rather than rush straight into 'accessible' carbs which have an immediate impact on your blood sugars.

Today is Day 1 of Week 1 in my 'let's get that last half stone off' before I go on holiday. (Except that last night's meal, plus a bit of 'eye off the ball' time, means it's more than half a stone now ...)

mumofjust1 I think the tricky bit with oopsie rolls is mixing the egg yolk mixture with the egg whites. The egg whites have to be really stiff and it is so easy to break down their consistency. I just try and gently fold in the yolks for a few seconds, then spoon out the fluffy stuff onto a baking tray. I always have a fair bit of yolky mixture left in the bottom of the bowl though.

ah im in ireland and it never stops raining.

SingingTunelessly · 26/06/2012 19:00

All this talk of holiday Envy. Ahh well not too long until September when we are off for a fortnight.

Can I ask you long term LC'S - Jins and all - why I have no appetite at all? I really mean that as well I am just not hungry. Today I've had a boiled egg, slice of ham with blob of mayo, two strawberries and two coffees with splash of full fat milk and 3 litres of water. I am honestly not hungry at all. Dinner will be lamb chops with vegs cooked in butter although I will be forcing that down. Confused. Am just worried that body will think I am in starvation mode and start to slow down weight loss.

studyingstudying · 26/06/2012 19:08

After doing better last week, this week I am struggling again...persuade me that it is much better to stay at uni studying, than to take a break and walk to the shop for chocolate!

Is there anything else snacky I could buy at the shop?? Its a typical tuck shop. Oh, for this studying to be over! One week to go!

MrsHerculePoirot · 26/06/2012 19:18

Found you! Sorry I posted on the other thread. 1 lb on this week sadly. I need to watch my milk in tea/coffee, drink more water and make sure I am eating enough fat (thanks BIWI!).

Went to gym class last night, haven't eaten much as haven't been very hungry today, but have picked at a few bits so my body doesn't think I'm starving it completely... pork, broccoli and salad for dinner soon...

Studying - stay where you are! Unless your shop sells pork scratchings maybe...

jan2011 · 26/06/2012 19:19

is there any babybel cheese, or any tinned fish you buy to eat, it really helps with cravings?

studying is very stressful. what about leaving money behind, and purse behind (obviously somewhere safe!) and going for a walk listen to some songs to de-stress, and come back to your studies?

if all else fails, very dark % choc or a pack of almonds or brazil nuts - these are still better than falling off the wagon.

fill up on water, herbal teas - cammomile might help de stress you!

you can do it!

QueenStromba · 26/06/2012 19:44

You don't need to worry about starvation mode with this way of eating SingingTunelessly. When you stop eating a high carb diet you stop producing lots of insulin which means that fat is freely released from your fat cells. Once fat is in your blood stream it doesn't matter whether it has come from your diet or from your fat cells - either way it is food for your cells. Your body has realised that you have plenty of energy stored so no longer wants energy from the diet.

BIWItheBold · 26/06/2012 19:56

Day 2:

B - full fat yoghurt, pre-gym, 1/2 cup of coffee with milk
Another coffee when I got to work
L - panfried turkey steak, with red pepper and salad with vinaigrette
s - some leftover savoury mince from last night
D - roast chicken, roast leeks and peppers, with green salad and shallot vinaigrette
water - so far, 3 litres (will probably end up drinking another litre this evening)

OP posts:
HumphreyCobbler · 26/06/2012 19:59

B - scrambled egg with cream.
L - fried pork fillet and salad
D - pot roasted chicken with courgettes fried in butter.

have drunk lots of water, the more I drink the thirstier I seem to become.

BettySuarez · 26/06/2012 20:06

I have found that too Humphrey

I seem to now down large glasses of water without even realising it Grin

QueenStromba · 26/06/2012 20:11

If you are getting thirstier the more you drink then you are probably low on electrolytes - get some lo-salt for your food or get some of this.

SingingTunelessly · 26/06/2012 20:28

Thank you Queen that is reassuring. Smile I still have much to learn regarding this woe and was starting to panic that I physically didn't want/couldn't eat the amount of food that a few weeks ago would have been no problem. Sorry, just a further question - so when all I fancy in the morning is a boiled egg without adding fat, that is ok? Or do I need to add butter/mayo even if I don't feel like it which is what happened this morning?

BIWItheBold · 26/06/2012 20:32

Just go for the boiled egg - I think I'm right in saying that there's a reasonable amount of fat in an egg anyway.

Evening, Bobble!

Singing - there are 5g fat in an egg

OP posts:
HumphreyCobbler · 26/06/2012 20:41

OueenStromba - I add a fair bit of salt to my cooking - could I still be low on electrolytes?

HumphreyCobbler · 26/06/2012 20:42

Also meant to say thanks for the advice Smile

MNP · 26/06/2012 21:07

Stayed at Westmoorland in 1999, was fab.

QueenStromba · 26/06/2012 21:14

You could still be low on electrolytes, particularly potassium but even sodium. The normal signs I get that I'm low on electrolytes are feeling tired and even a bit spacey. Also, salty things don't taste as salty as usual and taste really nice.

SingingTunelessly · 26/06/2012 21:17

Thank you BIWI, am relieved to hear that just an egg is ok. Can't believe that only a few days ago I needed far more than that for breakfast.

Throws Thanks to all on thread. . Somebody has it. PLEASE keep it. Grin

HumphreyCobbler · 26/06/2012 21:29

Well I tick ALL of those boxes then QueenStromba - will def go and get some of that powder.

Thanks again.
