Well some of you are, clearly!

And I notice more talk about maintenance, which is evidently a very good sign.

I think the best way for maintenance is to gradually increase your carbs until weight loss either stops or you find that you're putting weight back on.

Don't rush out and fall face first into a plate of pasta, though! Start with fruit and veg (be careful with which fruits and how much), and possibly some legumes - e.g. lentils, or beans - i.e. we're looking to add 'good' carbs into the diet, rather than rush straight into 'accessible' carbs which have an immediate impact on your blood sugars.

Today is Day 1 of Week 1 in my 'let's get that last half stone off' before I go on holiday. (Except that last night's meal, plus a bit of 'eye off the ball' time, means it's more than half a stone now ...)

Lunch: celery sticks with pate, peanut butter and cheese, 2 boiled eggs. Greek yog with blueberries.

Tea: roast pork, spring greens, leeks, beans.

QueenStromba · 01/07/2012 18:25

Didn't have any food in this morning so went to Morrisons at 11, by the time I got back I wasn't hungry anymore so didn't eat until 1.

Breakfast: 200g chicken cooked in bacon fat with spinach, avocado and ceasar salad dressing

Lunch: 100g of smoked mackerel about an hour ago

Dinner: Bacon joint with fried curly kale and celeriac chips with mayo

I've been making an effort to eat lots of protein this week (up to 150g a day) in the hope it would help my shoulder muscles heal. I'm finding the food much more filling now and I'm definitely in ketosis so I'm going to stick with it.

BIWItheBold · 01/07/2012 18:33

Yesterday (day 6):

B - scrambled eggs and bacon
L - burger with cheese and roasted peppers (no bun, obviously) and salad. Unfortunately the salad had balsamic vinegar in the dressing, so I tried to avoid that as much as I could
D - rib steak, pan-fried with a red wine and shallot jus, roasted tenderstem broccoli with chilli and shallots and salad with vinaigrette

Today (day 7)

Gym/personal trainer session first thing; I had some full fat yoghurt before I went
L - sausages, avocado in vinaigrette, various sliced cold meats/salamis, 1/4 Scotch egg (probably shouldn't have had that), vegetable spring roll (definitely shouldn't have had that Blush), cheese, olives, piccalilli, (also not great).

Out for dinner tonight - will be fillet steak in Gorgonzola sauce with a green salad.

Fiddle I am a massive (badoom-tish) coward, so please start me at the mythical 100.

To put it in to perspective, I wear a size 12 at 13 stone, which of course in the eyes of most is positively elephantine, yet for me it's quite lean. :)

BIWI I too have found balsalmic causes a massive stall.

Can anyone please point me in the direction of the "bootcamp rules"?

GreenEyesAndHam · 01/07/2012 18:44

Evening all, and welcome to all newbies

Apologies if anyone in the West Yorks region was awoken by a huge roar this morning- that sound was me, upon seeing the scales show I'm at target (my weigh in day is Sunday) Smile

Can't quite believe I'm here, I've never managed deliberate weight loss like this before, and certainly not so easily- because that's what it's been on the whole. Sure the adjustment in the first few weeks was tough, but I can honestly say that I'm now eating better and more healthily than I ever have before and do not feel deprived of anything.

Even so, the support from these threads has been brilliant, and so motivating. And even when I've not been posting much, I've read every post and found inspiration from them all. Thanks you lovely lot

WillieWaggledagger · 01/07/2012 19:23

Hurrah hurrah and thrice hurrah for green eyes (I could swear I heard something about that time down here in herts Grin)

Had a good week (and survived mother's visit intact) but blew it this weekend with copious wine yesterday lunchtime at a meet up with friends in camden. Am being diligent with water etc today so hopefully not too much damage

BettySuarez · 01/07/2012 19:29

I need some reassurance and wise words this week. After loosing 5llbs in week one and 3 in week 2, I have now hit a big stall and it's hard to loose heart a bit.

Have stuck to Bootcamp rules all week (apart from last night although this was a planned family treat) but weight has been up/down by same pound all week.

I don't think I will be reporting a loss tomorrow, possibly even a slight gain Sad

I know that stalls do happen but wasn't expecting it to happen so soon

WillieWaggledagger · 01/07/2012 19:37

Betty don't lose hope! here is biwi's post from when we were on week three

vnmum · 01/07/2012 19:41

congrats greeneyes
amaxapax I use kettlebells at home sometimes. I got my bell from tesco and I have the 10 minute solution dvd from amazon. If you have a multiregion dvd player jillian michaels does a good one called 'shred it with weights'. With regards to safety, I just make sure no one else is in the room at the same time Smile

I also have the callanetics dvd mentioned earlier but have only done it once as I also go to the gym 3 x week. I must do the callanetics more, although I will probably get chance to do more of it this week as I won't be able to go to the gym as DS has D and V so is off school.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 01/07/2012 19:43

Hurray, GreenEyes! Well done you!

Did someone mention cheating? My weekend badness included a couple of boiled potatoes, pavlova (not very much meringue, though, mostly cream), stupid M&S pea and ham salad with 10g carbs (tiny M&S cafe with v small food selection), amuse-bouche tartlet thingies, crackers, gluten-free choc cake, a petit four, glass of white wine and a glass of champagne. Oh, and a bacon roll. Blush It was my grandma's 70th and I knew that if I said I wasn't having any pudding then she wouldn't either and I didn't want to have to discuss diets all weekend. She has massive issues with food - was always overweight and then at age 67 went on low cal diet and lost heaps of weight. She is now too scared to eat in case it goes back on, and every 'bad' meal is preceded by a monologue on how much walking she'll have to do to burn it off. Sad I don't want to live my whole life feeling miserable about my weight. This woe is a godsend!

BIWItheBold · 01/07/2012 20:12

Greeneyes fanbloodytastic! Well done you! Grin

AlpinePony the reason balsamic makes you stall is that it's 16.5g carbs per 100ml! Compared with ordinary wine vinegar which is 0g carbs.

SharonGless · 01/07/2012 20:20

Greeneyes-congratulations!! Am really chuffed for you and glad that more of us are getting to target weight. Shows that it really does work

Heartstart · 01/07/2012 21:03

Hi all and v well done green eyes. For some reason really struggling this weekend and have eaten loads but many low carb just loads and not getting water down. Posted a q for John briffa

NigellasGuest · 01/07/2012 21:49

Evening everyone especially the newbies! Smile

i ate rather too much of my pavlova this afternoon - am now out of ketosis and knocking back the water. apart from that, i was very good (without really trying because this WOE means that my roast pork dinner was low carb - I just passed on the potatoes).

GreenEyesAndHam · 01/07/2012 21:56

Thank you all, I'm going to stick around- I'm expecting the maintenance stage to be very much 'trial and error'!

HumphreyCobbler · 01/07/2012 22:06

I find it really inspiring to read about people reaching their goal weight. Well done.

mummyduff · 01/07/2012 22:08

Hi All and welcome to all the newbies,

I have now finished my love affair with Mr Grey and its left me wanting to read more about himBlush

Have not had the greatest of days and really need to be drinking more water!!!

B - cocktail sausage x 3(yes I know not good)
L- a few bits of chicken
D- Chilli with green salad

I blame the books that have cativated me for the last weekGrin

tartiflette · 01/07/2012 22:31

I've found today really hard although haven't actually deviated.
DH's birthday tomorrow and am making the basic almond sponge out of the India and Nerys cookbook- has anyone made it? I'm planning to make without Splenda and top with whipped cream and raspberries and will just hope it doesn't knock me off course. We have two birthday-obsessed toddlers and I just felt too miserable not making him a cake, or doing something I wouldn't be able to eat. Hope it's not vile...

MrsHerculePoirot · 01/07/2012 22:51

williewaggledancer thanks for that link to week three - made me feel much better!

B - 3 egg omelette with bacon, mushroom and cheese
D - lamb steaks, black farmer sausage, broccoli and green beans.
Snacks - two eggs mashed with butter and a couple of bits of cheese

I have a shiny new special salad lunchbox to make my lunch tomorrow. Very excited!

leanbh21 · 01/07/2012 23:06

Well done greeneyes that's fabulous.

I've had a weekend of reassessing things. I was pretty miserable most of last week, not enjoying my food, not ever leaving a meal feeling like I had eaten enough to take my hunger away and cooking 2 and 3 dinners each day which, given how tight for time we always are, was making me completely miserable. Also I was craving carbs of every possible sort. So after a particularly unpleasant salad on Friday (the olive oil dressing literally made me retch) I had a rethink. I've tried to like fish but it's not really happening and I've never been a big fan of butter and cream even as a child and I can't abide mayo. I've read around a few other low-ish carb ways of eating (Harcombe, South Beach and a few random bits I found online) and have decided I'm going to slightly increase my carbs for the evening meal and not add fat to that meal. I know my weight loss will be slower and, in fact I expect I'll have gained tomorrow at weigh in but I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my mind and my cravings have just vanished! This way I can cook one meal for the family, make some rice/noodles etc to go with it for everyone else and just omit those for myself. I'll still try to use the lowest carb Quorn products and more tofu than we usually use (as that's lower still) and have legumes/beans only in occasion rather than most days. I plan to still keep my breakfasts and lunches as very low carb and I'll just have to experiment and see how I go.

Oh and a tip for anyone who uses ready grated cheese - I found my packed contains potato search (to stop it clumping apparently). I was Angry to discover that.

leanbh21 · 01/07/2012 23:07

*potato starch!!

Amaxapax · 01/07/2012 23:14

FiddleDeFat, you can add me to the spreadsheet. What day should I weigh in? At the moment I'm doing it every day...slightly obsessive, but very motivational.

Thanks for the information on Callenetics, tartiflette. I've watched a clip of the video on YouTube. It's certainly much different from anything I've tried, but very intriguing.

And thank you, vnmum, for the information on kettlebells. I have looked at Jillian's DVD, but I've read that her form isn't great. Bob Harper, the guy from Biggest Loser, has a DVD as well. I'm debating between the two, but am plagued by visions of the kettlebell flying from my hands and into the centre of my fiancé's beloved television. Grippy gloves might be an equally good investment.

MNP · 01/07/2012 23:46

Evening.

WELL DONE GREENEGGS, great news.

londonone · 02/07/2012 00:08

Huge congratulations to green eggs! Well done indeed. Glad to hear you will be sticking around, the more the merrier I say.

Tartiflette - I would add Splenda to the almond sponge, without sweetener it tastes rather odd and not very cake like!!
