The only thing I could think of to rhyme with 'six' for a catchy thread title was 'ketostix'. But as I don't advocate those, I was stuck!

By now, hopefully you're in the sway of things. Weight loss each week may be less spectacular, but should be reasonably consistent if you stick to the knitting Smile

You may also be finding that it's not happening for you consistently. It is an odd thing - and I have no idea if it's unique to low carbing - but it's not uncommon to go for a couple of weeks without losing, and then for the scales to suddenly drop. However, don't be downhearted and whatever you do, don't use this as an excuse to drop off the wagon!

It's also a very good reason why you should take your measurements as well as weighing, and a very good idea to keep a food/drink/snack diary, so make sure that you're not allowing carb creep.

So. Keep on keeping on. Remember the water, and don't forget to make sure you're keeping the fat levels up.

Here's to next week!

Has anyone come across Whey Hey ice cream? My local organic supermarket is selling it. 5g carbohydrate per 100g and no sugar.

I can't link to the website but if you google "whey hey ice cream" it comes up.

Do you think I could eat it as a major, major treat? I have had no sugar - real or substitute - for six days and I am struggling a bit. Though I've genuinely never had a sweet tooth before, not even when B'feeding Confused

MmeLindor. · 26/05/2012 16:16

I'm not telling tales yes I am but I'm drinking lots of wine with BIWI Grin

Am having a weekend off cause I'm meeting a friend in London but will be back on bootcamp lite next week.

vnmum · 26/05/2012 17:02

Ilove If you did have to go hungry it would be quite easy while low carbing. because your body is ketoadapted, fasting is actually quite easy. Hopefully you will be able to eat something but if there is nothing suitable and you don't want to cheat then it shouldn't be too much trouble to fast. Just drink plenty of water.

With regards to people asking about my 'diet'. I just say I am eating as natural a diet as possible and not eating carbs as they bloat me. If they then ask further I explain that there is dibetes in my family (DF) and that I am taking steps to minimise my risk of developing it. If they still won't leave it alone or say its dangerous etc I just assertively blind them with the sciencey bits and it soon shuts them up Smile

WillieWaggledagger · 26/05/2012 17:09

thanks to those who helped out re puddings for today when we had people round - in the end i did panna cotta which was great because i could do individual portions so mine had a quarter tsp of sweetener instead of sugar and everyone else had sugar ones. we had them with strawberries, it was fab (I also made them full cream rather than part milk)

for main I did rack of lamb with loads of salads

everyone else has flaked out with the food and the heat but I am fine - no slump for me

MNP · 26/05/2012 18:04

Thegoddessblossom · 26/05/2012 19:44

Lunch was salad, smoked salmon, small chunk of cheddar, cucumber.

Tea was celery, pate, bit more cheddar, hard boiled egg, guacamole and mushrooms, and a cold pork chop.

Snacks: most of the leftover sausages Blush

Working my way thru the water. Considering how hungover i am it is a miracle I have not inhaled all the crisps there are in this house...

Moanranger · 26/05/2012 19:54

Can I join? I just weighed myself this morning & am 12st 4, highest for ages - aargh! I have been avoiding getting to grips with my eating habits for ages & this was a wake -up call. I read the BC Rules last night - very useful.
Today I had a protein bar (22.5g carbs, so probably a bit too high. Went for 11mi walk ( this is normal for me) & on the way passed a pub advertising a BBQ, so went there after & had a tasty spat cocked chicken, plus picked out cabbagey bit of coleslaw, as no idea what was actually in it plus diet coke. Snack was 2devilled eggs, some carrot sticks & guacamole that is mainly avocado. Dinner will be monkfish brochettes.
Can someone clarify two things: 1. Use of Splenda, I put it in an iced coffee with double cream & was delish -sort of filled the ice cream niche, but what are rules on this?

  1. How do I add my name to WI chart - magnificent idea, kudos to whoever designed/ maintains it -?
Thegoddessblossom · 26/05/2012 20:03

Hi moan. Someone will be along in a bit to help you but:

I would avoid diet coke. The boot camp phase is designed to break your reliance on sweet things, so drinking it won't help.

Go easy on the cream....not sure it's even "allowed" on bootcamp.

Avoid protein bars. And 22.5g of carbs is practically a whole day's "allowance" (if you were following Atkins phase 1 for eg).

All your carbs should come from veg and salad on the "allowed" list.

I haven't lost any more weight, but I tried on my dress for wedding tomorrow and I have lost inches around the waist! I still have a stone to go, but I can now see why I should have measured myself at the start.

DH brought home a packet of haribos today. I managed to avoid them until one small glass of pimms today at pimms o'clock. BUT DH has agreed not to buy me any treats from now on, and he is slowly realising how much more energy I have when not eating carbs.

Moanranger · 26/05/2012 22:47

What does Mme mean?

BIWItheBold · 27/05/2012 07:08

Moanranger - it's short for MmeLindor! Who was grassing me up !

Hi I need some help. I have been doing LCD for 4 weeks now drunk water til it was coming out my ears reduced dairy etc etc. I have weighed this am and have put on 2lb. I know I had a read on fri at colleagues but calculated carbs ate no more that day and upped water. Then ate v lo carb yesterday (less than 20g). So with that wt gain today I have lost only 1.5 lb in 4 weeks. I am overweight bmi33, have had health probs re heart ( mainly stress but weight not helping) I am absolutely convinced by Briggs and Taubrs book and fantastic achievements here but at a v anxious point of how can I shift some wt and I don't want discussion with dietician when I see her next week

heartstart · 27/05/2012 08:20

Had bread not read!

Moanranger · 27/05/2012 08:46

Heartstart - a couple of ideas-keep a food diary, review BCRules & really stick to them, ESP high quality protein.Someone mentioned eating sausages, for example, but there is a lot of carby filler in these
Are you drinking alcohol, if so stop!

Creamtea1 · 27/05/2012 09:09

Morning all, I'm suffering from meat overload after 3 bbq's in the space if 4 days. Thinking will be a stay the same tomorrow due to lack of transit .. Blush
Lovely weather and do feel better in summer clothes, which are actually all too big, but still do that thing when I look at my reflection in shop windows etc and still see a bit of a fatty!

BIWItheBold · 27/05/2012 09:32

Heartstart - list out for me your meals over the sat few days, as well as what you've been drinking/snacking on and lets see if there's anything we can spot.

Also, where are you in your menstrual cycle, as that can have an effect on weight

OP posts:
BIWItheBold · 27/05/2012 09:33

Creamtea - focus on salad stuff today! And lots of water .... !

OP posts:
BIWItheBold · 27/05/2012 09:34

Salad stuff with oily dressing and mayo - up your fats as much as you can, as BBQ stuff would probably have been lower in fat

OP posts:
BIWItheBold · 27/05/2012 09:36

Slowlyburning - great news about inch loss! And absolutely the reason why it's worth measuring as well as weighing.

WillieWaggledagger · 27/05/2012 09:44

upped my water consumption by an extra litre the last couple of days and have lost 4lb since friday (so 1lb net loss since monday) so feeling very chirpy

teaandthorazine · 27/05/2012 11:12

Re: fasting - what counts as a fast? How long etc? Yesterday I didn't eat anything from 7am (protein shake etc) until 3pm (handful of almonds) so 8 hours altogether and then another 6 hours until dinner after that. The appetite suppression aspect of this WOE is quite amazing!

I drank plenty of water and got through a very full-on 11-hour day of work too, felt fine.

scrablet · 27/05/2012 11:38

Am confused about cream, is it allowed, ie to mash in cauli/celeriac, etc? And watered down in decaf coffee? This is in Bootcamp btw.
Thanks
