So we have survived week one, more or less intact Grin

There has been a lot of cheating along the way - either intentional or accidental - but most people seem to be getting on with it and embracing low carbing. And we have seen some spectacular results already!

As one of the cheaters, I can tell you what you will already have discovered for yourself:

This way of eating (WOE) is an unforgiving one. If you slip up or cheat, it will show up on the scales

I know it's hard. I drank wine on both Friday and Saturday night. But it really is up to you how strict you choose to be - and therefore hopefully you will understand that it is up to you how much weight you are losing.

I realise this sounds patronising. But it's the ultimate truth of this (or any) diet.

Having said all that, I also know that there are some people who are struggling, and for whom weight loss has been very slow.

Just remember, if you have less weight to lose, then your rate of loss will be slower than those who have more to lose. And any loss, even if it's only a pound or so, is still a loss. Visualisation is always helpful for me if I think I've only lost a pound this week. Remember, a pound loss is like two packets of lard! That's a lot of fat.

And if weight loss is slow, or you're not seeing the scales move, have a long look at what you have been eating and drinking, and be really honest with yourself. Have you been following the rules? Have you been allowing carby things into your diet? Have you being drinking enough water? Try keeping a food diary so you can record everything (and I mean everything) that you're eating and drinking, as this can help you identify what might be affecting your progress.

If you still can't work out why it's happening (or not happening!), post what you've been eating and drinking here, and others might be able to help and advise you.

Anyway. Lecture over! Welcome to Week 2. Hopefully you will all see significant loss this week as well. But those of you who have lost loads in week 1 - don't expect to see the same kind of loss in this week - it's inevitable that it will slow down. Remember that sustainable, long term weight loss is around 1-2lbs per week.

And those of you who are struggling, hopefully another strict week will get things going for you! And I also hope that everyone has got through their carb withdrawals by now, and you are all feeling fantastic!

Onwards and downwards ... Grin

How do you know when you are in ketosis? How long after entering bootcamp does it normally take?

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 28/04/2012 10:18

So you're worried about the calories but not the carbs Hmm?

Really - forget about the calories. Focus on eating low carb. Apart from the wine, where did the rest of them come from?

Well done on the 5lbs, noddy ignores taste of paradise reference

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 28/04/2012 10:23

LF - can take anything up to a week, but can also happen quite quickly - everyone is different. You will know because you find yourself suddenly not hungry and forgetting to eat!

You may also find that you have a strange taste in your mouth. If this happens, drink more water.

Hi biwi - thanks

i only had 2 piece of flax bred so less than 2 g carb could that really be it?

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 28/04/2012 10:33

It's not necessarily the carbs; some have said that the ingredients can impede their weight loss (sorry, I've never made it/eaten it, so I have no idea if that is actually the case).

Also - have you been weighing every day or is today the first day you have weighed? And is it possible that your period is due? Weight does fluctuate - sometimes for no apparent reason! - and it's especially difficult for women in the run up to their period.

Good morning everyone. I have been following your various threads, and would like to offer both BIWI and GetOrf some Thanks for their amazing work.

Well done to all the losers. It's really inspiring.

I have been doing boot-camp lite for nearly three weeks, and have lost 7lbs so far. I didn't join the thread before, because I never intended to be really hard-core about it, but I wondered if I could join you all on Monday. Please and thanks. Grin

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 28/04/2012 10:40

Of course you can! Welcome.

Next weigh-in is Monday morning, and I will be starting another thread then.

Well done on the 7lbs as well.

What a speedy reply!

Thanks, BIWI. I will look out for the thread and be ready with my Monday morning weight.

Have good weekends everyone.

vnmum · 28/04/2012 10:42

well the birds landed yesterday and today but I have still managed to be 1lb heavier this morning after my visit. I was quite hungry and snacky yesterday so could be something to do with that. I was trying to find things to nibble on that fit in with this WOE (need to do a shop when we get paid on monday) so might have overdone the nuts (and they were salted too).

Good luck to your DH Greeneyes

Going to go to lidl in a bit for greek yoghurt and they also have chipotle chilli flavour oil on offer for 99p for 250ml. Thought that might be nice as an extra flavour or dressing on salad. They also have pork shanks on half price this weekend but they are in sauces so probably too high in carbs to fit in, and strawberries half price if anyone is wanting any for bootcamp light. this weekend only. Oh this weekend, kabanoss sausages are half price too, 94p for a 2 pack i think. Not sure what they are like though as never had them.

2 eggs scrambled with cream, 3 bacon and some mushrooms fried in butter for breakfast. pork kebabs with some veg or salad for tea, not sure about lunch yet.
And lots of water, bacon was very salty.

Thegoddessblossom · 28/04/2012 11:39

Hi Biwi - no, worried about the carbs too! Grin Although i did think I ate very low carb yesterday.

Calories came from the wine, the chicken breast, the eggs, the pork scratchings, the butter, the cheese and the bacon.

Carbs came from the cabbage and leek, the frozen green beans, the pataks curry sauce, the coffee and the 2 squares of dark chocolate. According to MFP.

SharonGless · 28/04/2012 12:03

BIWI how's the head this morning Wink
Well I did well yesterday after Thursday nights slip up with alcohol but I did have a vodka last night whilst relaxing in bath - DH was out. I hadn't planned very well though so ended up grabbing a low carb spag Bol sauce out of freezer which had with courgette noodles- exact same tea as Wed night!

Steak for tonight - yum.

I need to plan the weeks meals tomorrow and stick to the plan. Think am going to stay on bootcamp as not within a stone of target weight yet. Can we just have one thread though for chat pleeeassseee

heartstart · 28/04/2012 13:17

Thanks for reply Biwi

Ingredients of flax bread is milled flax, olive oil, bicarbonate of soda, splenda, egg Fava posted the recipe it is nice air like soda bread.

Will leave it out and persevere

Not pmt so can't explain that way.

ohforfoxsake · 28/04/2012 13:21

I am in awe of my own will-power Wink as I went out last night and had two single vodkas (with soda and a piece of lime). Rather than going for after show drinks I came straight home (to be honest the crisps were calling me and one more drink I'd have weakened).

But only had 5 hours sleep so am being tested today!

MrsNouveauRichards · 28/04/2012 13:52

I am feeling a bit more in control after a yummy lunch of salad, chicken, bacon and homemade coleslaw. Had been feeling a bit 'meh' about the whole thing and had a chocolate finger disaster Blush

I am doing less a bootcamp light, more a bootcamp part-timer :o I am having porridge with flaxseed for breakfast simply because it is erm beneficial for my bowels, but avoiding bread, potatoes and pasta for the long term. Please don't chuck me out!

mummyduff · 28/04/2012 13:56

Hi all just checking in, egg and mushrooms for breakfast, courgette omelette for lunch.
Chicken wrapped in bacon tonight with green veg.

Goodluck to you DH greeneyes and hope they have lots of toilets Smile

ohforfoxsake · 28/04/2012 14:20

Mrsn, if you don't mix your carbs and fats it still works (as in the Harcombe diet). So if you have porridge with skimmed milk and blueberries for breakfast and low carb meals for the rest of the day you still see results. I'm probably going to do this when I'm off boot-camp, which will be in two weeks time - am having a break next weekend as going away without DCs to a wedding. No doubt will need another week of boot-camp afterwards.

In other news, I can get into the jeans I bought as I was getting fat (as opposed to the ones I bought after I got fat). Smile

gothicmama · 28/04/2012 14:45

Ohfofoxsake that is how I think I will do it have managed to put on weight due to being tired and stressed so may restart bootcamp after a week off or may just low carb but not as extreme

Get0rfMoiLand · 28/04/2012 15:04

I am going to stop weighing myself every day - I am getting obsessed. Will stick to once a week.

After the biscuit eating (bastard choco liebniz, why were they even in the house) I did well yesterday, just had some caulif cheese. Today I have had a snack plate for lunch (cheese, little gems, pate, ham) and we are supposed to be going out for dinner, so will probably have a steak.

Hi all,im checking in cos i missed the food obsessed chat.
I have lost a bit more doing the low carb lite. Porridge or eggs for b fast then no pots, pasta, bread or rice for the remainder of the day.No sweets or choc or any junk.

I went shopping today and bought some new clothes some of which were a 14 which gave me a great boost.

I have also noticed i get full really quickly now which helps loads.

Hepsibaaah · 28/04/2012 16:34

Weighed this am, have only lost 1lb so far this week despite an optimistic scale wobble earlier on :( seemed to have ground to a halt weightloss-wise? have stuck to the diet, not cheated, drunk loads, running three times as week too...this happened that last time I LC'd as well (and I got so disheartened I gave up).
B - flax bread (so giving this up after reading comments above) fried egg and bacon
L - lettuce, cuc & cold chicken
S - will be poached salmon and cabbage

Think I may fast tomorrow, see if that gets everything moving again. Why oh why are the last 5lbs the hardest to get off???

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 28/04/2012 16:37

Hepsibaah - it will slow up if you only have a little bit to go. But the secret is not to give up!

How much fat are you eating? It doesn't look as if there's very much in your diet. Try upping that and see if that helps.

OP posts:
Hepsibaaah · 28/04/2012 16:44

Egg was fried in butter, and butter on the cabbage too, Mayo in the salad, but I could eat more, you're right. I'll just stick at it, thanks BIWI

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/04/2012 16:50

Sharon - tell me Grin

ohforfoxsake · 28/04/2012 17:22

What are the Boot-camp light rules? Have I missed them?
