So we have survived week one, more or less intact Grin

There has been a lot of cheating along the way - either intentional or accidental - but most people seem to be getting on with it and embracing low carbing. And we have seen some spectacular results already!

As one of the cheaters, I can tell you what you will already have discovered for yourself:

This way of eating (WOE) is an unforgiving one. If you slip up or cheat, it will show up on the scales

I know it's hard. I drank wine on both Friday and Saturday night. But it really is up to you how strict you choose to be - and therefore hopefully you will understand that it is up to you how much weight you are losing.

I realise this sounds patronising. But it's the ultimate truth of this (or any) diet.

Having said all that, I also know that there are some people who are struggling, and for whom weight loss has been very slow.

Just remember, if you have less weight to lose, then your rate of loss will be slower than those who have more to lose. And any loss, even if it's only a pound or so, is still a loss. Visualisation is always helpful for me if I think I've only lost a pound this week. Remember, a pound loss is like two packets of lard! That's a lot of fat.

And if weight loss is slow, or you're not seeing the scales move, have a long look at what you have been eating and drinking, and be really honest with yourself. Have you been following the rules? Have you been allowing carby things into your diet? Have you being drinking enough water? Try keeping a food diary so you can record everything (and I mean everything) that you're eating and drinking, as this can help you identify what might be affecting your progress.

If you still can't work out why it's happening (or not happening!), post what you've been eating and drinking here, and others might be able to help and advise you.

Anyway. Lecture over! Welcome to Week 2. Hopefully you will all see significant loss this week as well. But those of you who have lost loads in week 1 - don't expect to see the same kind of loss in this week - it's inevitable that it will slow down. Remember that sustainable, long term weight loss is around 1-2lbs per week.

And those of you who are struggling, hopefully another strict week will get things going for you! And I also hope that everyone has got through their carb withdrawals by now, and you are all feeling fantastic!

Onwards and downwards ... Grin

BIWI size 10 jeans? Wow. What size jeans were you wearing when you embarked on this plan?

I have a headache.

Livelongandprosper · 26/04/2012 19:05

Twit I have turd envy.

A wren landed this morning, I don't wish to sound ungrateful but I was hoping for some sort of bird of prey at the very least.

Fava · 26/04/2012 19:06

I feel like I have sinned in a big way. Made a 1 egg batch of flaxseed bread (recipe on the recipe thread) and it all comes in at just about 2g of carbs and lots of fat.

Note to oneself: must learn to freeze some so not to eat it in one go Grin

LittleFrieda · 26/04/2012 19:06

I'm constipated with envy at those of you in SAGGY size 10 jeans.

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 26/04/2012 19:07

lol at turd envy and wrens and eagles Grin

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 26/04/2012 19:18

LF - I was still wearing size 10 jeans, and another pair were size 12 - but both were very tight/straining at the zip/seams!

I am top heavy, and carry most of my weight on my torso. So although I'm dead chuffed, actually for me, it's about being able to wear tops that aren't smocky and are more fitted - that's when I know I will have lost enough weight!

Wow. Sashaying in size 10s!

Just posting what we're having to dinner. We had yogurt to finish so I've made a sauce with that, a bit of mustard, mushrooms and leeks to go over some pork escalopes and then have roasted fennel and broccoli - I hope it's tasty as I've just made it up!

The best thing about this WOE is that its got us out of a total rut with our meals which were always spag bol, curry, chilli, risotto and very little else! Loving the food at the moment.

Schnarkle · 26/04/2012 20:04

This is hilarious, no such thing as tmi on the low carb thread Grin

Still trucking away here had cauliflower parmesan puree/mash with butter fried lambs liver. It was delish. And thanks to BIWI's sheet ( cheers BIWI) the cauli was a grand total of 3 carbs.

Had 2 cabbage parcels for lunch and a couple of fried eggs for breakfast. Need to up the veg for tomorrow I reckon.

LackaDAILYcarb · 26/04/2012 20:07

I'm just boggling the fact over in my mind that someone who is a size 10 feels the need to diet at all Shock
The last time I was a size 10, I think I was 10!

And as always I'm reminded of my 25 year old self who used to complain about being too fat at 9st7; I remember sharing a bed with my shag buddy Blush and sucking my tummy in when he was cuddling me as I thought I had a little pot belly. I would kill to be that fat these days Grin

LackaDAILYcarb · 26/04/2012 20:11

and pmsl at the turd thread Grin

Thegoddessblossom · 26/04/2012 20:18

I see.

I turn my back for 5 minutes.....and it's "c" word this and emu poo analogies that. I think we're all starting to go a little soft in the head...... [in a good way] Grin

Tempted to report some of the poo posts to hq - do you think they would delete for TMI?

Livelongandprosper · 26/04/2012 20:29

I forgot to say - when I visited my dad he said " Have you lost weight Live?"

Of late I have been accusing him of losing his marbles somewhat but he is obviously still a man of great perception.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 26/04/2012 20:35

"I'm just boggling the fact over in my mind that someone who is a size 10 feels the need to diet at all"

Ah, but LackaDaisy - I am only 5 ft 2, and I currently weigh 10 stone 3 1/2, which makes me still overweight according to my BMI.

And you can definitely see, when I am nekkid, that I still have weight to shed.

My original target was 9 stone, but I think that I may end up settling for something a bit higher than that, as long as I'm sticking with the exercise.

OP posts:
BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 26/04/2012 20:36

(and for years and years and years, until I was in my mid-twenties, I weighed no more than 8 and a half stones!)

OP posts:
GreenEyesAndHam · 26/04/2012 20:57

BIWI that just demonstrates how differently people carry their weight;

I'm a similar height as you 5ft 1 AND A HALF, and now weigh 9st 6 - but size 10 jeans are a distant memory for me!

GreenEyesAndHam · 26/04/2012 20:59

Oh and the mallard has landed btw

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 26/04/2012 21:07

I have a very expensive, and very beautiful silk trouser suit - the jacket is a size 12 and the trousers are a size 8.

Not that I think I could wear it right now, but it indicates where I tend to be bigger! Partly this reflects my developed musculature - all my sports when I was younger (and I was very fit when I was young) used upper body strength - and partly reflects where I carry excess weight.

OP posts:
LackaDAILYcarb · 26/04/2012 21:18

I'm 5'2" as well BIWI...and until my mid 20s was 8st 4 Was never a 10 though. More of a hippy 12!

Thegoddessblossom · 26/04/2012 21:26

Another 5 2er here. I'm all boobs.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 26/04/2012 21:29

CARB COUNTING SPREADSHEET ALERT

Some of you have a copy of my carb counting spreadsheet.

I need to tell you that some of the formatting needs to be changed. The column that contains the formula to work out how many carbs there are in your veg has been formatted to show only round numbers. This means that if something is, say, 0.4g carbs, it will show up in your column as 0.

There's an icon on the 'Home' menu, on the 'Number' tab that you have to click to change this, so that it shows everything with 2 decimal places.

The totals will still be correct, but you may wonder - like I did - why if you're entering carbs, that the spreadsheet is still showing 0 carbs!

5'3" (and a half) and I am size 10/12 on the bottom and size 12/14 on top. I have slim legs, no slim hips, small shoulders but huge belly and comedy 32ff boobs :o

One of my FB friends had as their status "yay, just squeezed back in my 25inch waist skinny jeans" her baby is 6m old ffs! Envy I have never had a 25inch waist, just felt good to have it down to 32!

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 26/04/2012 21:45

I went, aged 11, to be measured for my new school sports kit. Even then I had a 26 inch waist. Despite a being so skinny My socks wouldn't stay up!

WizzyBizzy · 26/04/2012 21:54

Just made some oopsie rolls for the first time (I know, I know...). How long do they keep for or should I freeze?

Jealous of all of you with your norkage. I am a 'classic pear'. Fat arse. No boobs. Envy. Slightly less fat now obviously. Grin

Actually good news and bad news today. I bought new scales (hurrah, as old ones were dreadful) BUT the new ones have added 2 lbs to my weight. I assume my weight LOSS is still the same but from a slightly higher start point. Dammit. So I now have another 2lbs to lose to get to my final target of 9 stone. Shame. Like the scales though.

heartstart · 26/04/2012 22:00

B - scrambled egg and tomato
