Thank you QS Wine

FreeButtonBee · 22/02/2012 17:51

Thanks QS

What to have for Dinner? DH is out, I am knackered. Might have fish from fishmongers and garlic spinach and a few roast cherry tomatoes. That would be not too much work or washing up. Then bath and bed.

Well my nanny has made a great vat of bolognese sauce so DH can have his with spaghetti and I will have mine with cabbage. Will be nice not to cook.

I reaaalllly want some pasta but I am staying strong.

ilovemyteddy · 22/02/2012 19:32

Oh that canneloni sounds yum!! Looking forward to hearing what it's like (and what you put on top, Custy!)

flipflopflap · 22/02/2012 19:39

Well today I managed to go for coffee with my Mum and not eat cake, even though she did. So I'm very proud of myself today Wink

Tonights dinner is Quorn fillets in a cream sauce. Not the most exciting of meals but I'm not that hungry- It's day 3 so I'm thinking that's the Ketosis kicking in?

Lovely dinner tonight. Had forgotten how much i like spinach (provided it's cooked in ton generous amount of butter) yum! Should have had more - 5 frozen nuggets wasn't quite enough!

I haven't really experimented with low carb pancakes and stuff. Maybe atbthe weekend.

Am knackered tonight - early to bed for me.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 22/02/2012 21:24

Spinach is delicious when cooked with butter - I too had forgotten how much I loved it.

I made a cauliflower curry tonight but wasn't actually very hungry, so had some ham and mayonnaise instead - will have the cauliflower tomorrow.

I have been to the loo now - just thought I would share that pertinent fact. Grin

NO excuse not to be under 11 stone tomorrow morning.

custy that blog is great, I read it months ago and there are more recipes now. Mashed swede! I never knew that was low carb.

Getorf glad you have shifted the excess weight - was it as a result of diabetic choc consumption?

Mashed swede is low carb? I might do a cottage pie with a cheesy mashed swede top at the weekend.

Tortington · 22/02/2012 22:15

weeeeeeeeeeeelll it's lower carb than you might expect

its too high for me personally

but its fricking awesome

Tortington · 22/02/2012 22:16

we bought kale - in a bag

never had kale before - im going to treat like cabbage - stick in some butter - microwave it and boom

on a plate in under 2 minutes

jellibelli · 22/02/2012 22:45

Hello again,

I popped into your last thread last year but at the time didn't think low carbing was for me Blush. Anyhoo, here I am, I have been kind of following the Paleo ideas for the last month and combined with some weight training have had some good results, so I will continue to pop in and see you all.

I will check out your website Custardo, when I get a moment.

encyclogirl · 22/02/2012 22:51

Hi guys, I'm really dithering about low carbing at the moment. I run so I've convinced myself I will die if I don't eat a ton of carbs.

I was thinking I could eat porridge in the morning and then not have carbs for the rest of the day.

Is there any point in following a low carb plan that includes porridge (and coffee if I'm honest)?

I low carbed 4 years ago and lost shed loads, SHED LOADS! Then I...um...stopped.

I blame India Knight. She stopped so I stopped too!

Tortington · 22/02/2012 23:15

i drink cioffee by the bucket - coffee is just the detox and not the sugar stablizing part of the carby process

i dunno about the porridge - i guess it depends on what low carb diet you follow

i cant get my head round eating 50 carbs a day and loosing weight - it doesn't happen for me.

jellibelli · 22/02/2012 23:28

I have porridge most mornings encyclogirl alternating with eggs on non hair washing mornings! But I am not dukaning though and porridge is not for strict paleos either, but it's worked for me.

CointreauVersial · 22/02/2012 23:59

I love porridge (with demerara sugar and double cream - ha!), but too carby for me at the moment. I run too (at 6.30am - aargh, is that the time??), and I haven't died yet, encyclogirl. Just up the protein.

Nice dinner today - chicken korma with cauli rice. Twas a fiendishly complex recipe, but it was clean plates all round. Then afterwards I had a footy club committee meeting, which can only be endured with a pint of bitter. Grin At least I refused the crisps.

I weighed myself this morning and I am 10 stone 13.2. So nearly 2lbs gone. I am ridiculously pleased - I don't know why but it feels such an achievement to get under the 11 stone mark.

I now have exactly a stone to go before I reach my target weight.

One thing I have noticed (and I don't know if anyone else has) is that my skin looks far better than usual. A couple of colleagues have commented that my face is glowing - I don't know if that has been caused by the increased anmount of fat in my diet (or whether I am just better at slapping on the make up than I used to be!)

I also haven't had a headache in ages - I usually get a couple a week and have always put it down to spending the best part of my day squinting at excel spreadsheets. Perhaps the sugar didn't help.

I love this thread and the fact I can come on here and ramble on about low carbing - I am really enthusiastic about it but I know I would bore people to death in real life Grin

GetOrfMoiiLand · 23/02/2012 10:58

I personally wouldn't bother with porridge, I had a bowl at work last week one day and I ended up starving hungry and desperate for a mars bar or cake by 11am. I am sure I wouldn't have felt that way if II had had an omelette or something.
