New thread since the old one is full :)

Just added a few of you new ladies on mfp. Nice to see so many being converted!
Only had 3 good days out of the last 7, as I had a long weekend from friday to monday at the in-laws and alcohol was involved. Funnily enough Monday was the worst day as i was so tired and just snacked like mad on crisps and chocolate etc on the way home on the train.
Did Body Jam and Zumba tuesday and wednesday to repair some damage though.

Want to exercise today as weigh in tomorrow but have come down with horrid cold and sore throat! Aaaaargh! Perhaps I can manage a walk so i'm not completely sedentary.

annieshaf · 01/03/2012 17:33

Wow RGPargy I don't know how you manage that many classes in a weekend.

I am too scared of losing momentum if I have a cheat day so am going to continue with strict counting at least until I get to nine and half stone.

Good luck with the hypno tricky I hope it works for you. Not sure what counts as low carbs as giving up rice past and potatoes is not something I could imagine doing.

I never seem to lose weight at TOM and try not to weigh myself too often then I don't get upset about it.

Thanks for adding me JoJo I really appreciate the support that everyone gives on there. Hope your feeling well enough to get some exercise soon.

I managed to break the elusive 10 stone barrier this morning so am feeling quite positive that I'm not to far off my goal now which is a BMI of 22 only 11.5 more lbs to go. I have not got this low in any of my previous attempts, even when I lost weight before getting married!

Not managed to do any proper exercise today but I did do a bit of running with ds and his friend as they were cycling home from school today i also had to push start them both a few times on a steep hill so I must have burned a few calories!

IBlameThePenguins · 01/03/2012 19:02

Well, dp didn't get the job... He is totally gutted, and I am truing not show that I am hired for him!... Must. Not. Comfort. Eat!!

IBlameThePenguins · 01/03/2012 19:03

...that should have said gutted for him, not hired. Bloody phone!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/03/2012 16:30

Well done annieshaf! My aim is just to get to a normal bmi, so under 25. It was 35 when I started and is 28.5 now so I am only overweight. Not sure how I'll feel at that weight but you have to set some kind of target I guess!

Sorry to hear that IBlameThePenguins, I wasn't here to read you posting about the job he was going for but it's not good news whatever :(

The last few days I have felt so tired and just wanted to eat!!!! I have kept my meals small and had some snacks but still keeping within calorie limit. Enjoying my graze box today :)

IBlameThePenguins · 02/03/2012 17:43

Ah, thank you cinnamon. It was his first interview since being made redundant 6 months ago, so we had a lot.riding on it. Sorry if my post was a but self indulgent! X

RGPargy · 03/03/2012 08:55

Hi everyone. Did 3 classes yesterday and burnt off 1268 cals so not too bad! Off to do a conditioning class in a bit, although if I get my arse into gear I could do combat first.....Hmm. So then after the conditioning class I might do a dancey one. Then it's lunch and after that is fightklub, step and another dancey thing. Not going over the too today as I dont want to aggrevate my knee. It's a little sore but I'm sure it'll be ok if I take it easy. Confused

Penguin - sorry about DP not getting the job Sad

Right must crack on! Have a good weekend all! Grin

bexsybooboo · 04/03/2012 08:17

penguin sorry to hear your husband didn't get the job, hope something positive does come up for you both. I know how hard it can be my dh was in similar situation 2 years back and it can test you Sad

RGPARGY weekend sounds fun, can't believe I am saying that about exercise. May google exercise weekends. Love reading your updates on your weekends.Grin

Well I am off to a spin class in an hour and hoping my legs learn how to work and not feel so heavy by the time I have to leave Smile

I am slowly edging from obese to heavy bmi bracket and enjoying being a couple of dress sizes smaller and feeling the change in my body and my self Smile

Have to remember to log on this thread more as seem to be using the MFP app more for logging and communicating to everyone Smile and this thread Just as motivating as MFP so does me good to pop in and visit Smile

Keep it up everyone looks like we are all on a positive roll at the moment Smile

jchocchip · 04/03/2012 09:23

Oh dear :( for mrpenguins. It's hard filling in multiple applications and geting nowhere. I was lucky in that when I needed to return to work after a break, I went back to a temp agency I'd worked for before and they got me work and from there I got a permanent job eventually. Hope he understands it is not personal. Bloody economy has a lot to answer for.

Just checking back in as mn had hidden this thread. I haven't really lost anything in Febuary, but my weight has been up and down 4lb or so. Decided to try for 2 lb a week again and see if I can kick start it. Have school reunion in May and a holiday so would like to lose a bit more by then.

Have run my first 5k! Parkrun yesterday and I came 150th out of 150! I couldn't have run for 5 minutes at the start of December, so running for 50 minutes felt great! Managed to sprint at the finish too! I'm not a natural runner, being 19 stone doesn't help either! Would never have done it without finding mfp through this thread, so thanks everone. :) Just need to shave 6 minutes off my time to stand a chance of not coming last next time....

cinnamongreyhound · 04/03/2012 09:59

It's great no longer being obese bexsybooboo, but I sometimes feel deflated that I've lost so much and still have a lot to go :(. Well done on losing a couple of dress sizes that's great!!

Being last when you've only been running 9-10 weeks it's still great jchocchip and great that you only need to shave 6 mins out of 50 :). When are you thinking of the next one? Was thinking I'd keep running today and see if I can get to 5k and how long it takes me, doing a 6m 20s Km through most of my running. Really well done to you! Hope the weightloss improves for a double well done :)

RGPargy · 04/03/2012 20:11

Tricky - message sent! :o

piratecat · 04/03/2012 20:19

i knew i shouldn't have picked up that bloody pack of choccy digestives.
If it's in the house and like it i will find my way to it eventually.

What a stupid eating day i have had, no breakfast, no lunch, i just wasn't hungry, then i came home from being out in the car and scoffed 3 digestives. Had veg dahl and rice for tea. Am now owed about 400 cals and most of my protein, but am just not hungry.

I was so determined when i started mfp 45 days ago and so quickly shed that first 7lbs in 3 weeks. No loss now for 3 weeks.

so, tomorrow i start again.

IBlameThePenguins · 04/03/2012 20:27

Thank you all for your lovely messages. Cheered me up no end!

jchocchip congratulations, on completing your first park run...bet that felt like an amazing sense of achievement!

Hope dining went well bexsyboo your encouraging messages on mfp really spur me on :-)

rgparry I feel tired just reading about your weekend! Sounds like great fun though!

RGPargy · 04/03/2012 20:31

Well, that's me whacked out for the weekend!

It was a completely unpressured weekend this time as one of my other gym mates didn't come. She's like a robot/machine and is very athletic so finds exercise easy. She's the sort of person who will think you're just being lazy if you start to flag lol. So as a result and because i was watching my knee too, i did 3 classes on Friday, only 4 classes on Saturday and just the one class today. Had a brilliant time - i was even up dancing on the dance floor last night, which is something i NEVER do!! Shock I wonder if the booze had anything to do with it......Hmm Even had my photo taken with Richard Callendar as he was there teaching some classes too lol.

Haven't counted calories at all this weekend and have eaten loads and drank loads too. Gotta love Fitness Fiesta!! :o

Laputa · 05/03/2012 01:29

Hi, thought I would introduce myself to all as have just joined Mfp after giving up after 2 days on exante meal replacement...just couldn't stomach it, especially the soups! Vile
Anyway...I have 4 stone to lose..(1 for each child) although youngest is 8 yrs!..am 5ft 6 and weigh 14 11. Have set my calorie limit to 1000...Mfp says to change it to 1200...does anyone know if this will help me lose weight quicker? Would love it if anyone would add me in as I need all the support I can get..not good at this diet stuff but I have never been so determined as I am now...even turned down a wine afternoon and roast dinner today coz I knew it would take me over my limit...how's that for dedication!

RGPargy · 05/03/2012 17:24

Hi Laputa and welcome!

Would deffo change the cals to at least 1200, or better still, go with what MFP tells you to eat! Otherwise you wont lose weight - starvation mode and all that!

Feel free to add me - same username as here :)

IBlameThePenguins · 05/03/2012 21:33

Hi laputa! Welcome. I'm a newbie too. This is a really welcoming thread. I've been doing mfp properly for 4 weeks, and I've lost 7.5 lb, so it definitely works! Is your user name the same as on here? I tried to add you, but not.sure if it worked? Am amiehotchpotch on mfp! X

bexsybooboo · 06/03/2012 18:58

Have done 9 days of being super good with lots of exercise Smile and then I self destruct over a little bad news but something that can be put right Sad

My ds (4yrs old) has had speech problems for over 1.5 years and I have been pressing for investigation in to it as knew there was an underlying reason for it. Nothing happened but thanks to his teacher sent for in depth hearing test which has come back really low, looks like our son has learnt to lip read due to significant hearing loss. Am so angry at my gp and health visitor who failed to act or even return my calls last year. Am also angry as have to wait 3 months for another assessment as this is required before they will consider simple procedure like gromits as it is classed as exceptional funding.

wtf he has already had to wait over a year for anyone to act and his speech badly affected.

Sorry needed to rant but have comfort ate tonight and 400 cals over my 1200 daily allowance Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 06/03/2012 19:45

Sorry to hear that bexsybooboo! It's one day of an extra 400 calories and you will be fine :). My ds1 has speech problems and no-one would listen to me either. Finally he moved to the nursery within the primary school and the teacher there backed me so the hv referred him for assessment. He has no hearing problems and they have no suggestion as to why he has the problem but now as well as teaching him the sounds as he couldn't make them we are having to undo his bad habits too. Speech therapy has worked wonders and there are now only a handful of sounds he can't make but I can't help feeling I let him down but not pushing it. Everyone tells me that I didn't let him down and he's doing well now but I know how you feel!

IBlameThePenguins · 06/03/2012 20:28

Ah, bexsy really sorry to hear that. i'm a speech and language therapist, so please do give me a pm if there's anything at all that I can help with. Xx

RGPargy · 06/03/2012 20:53

How frustrating for you Bexsy. Sometimes these health "professionals" are useless! I also dont think that 400 over on one day will do you any harm....

Have got the dreaded Camber Cold at the moment. It's just lurking in the background but i am hoping that my vit C daily dose will send it on its way! I am also having trouble getting back on track after my weekend away.Hmm

Oh by the way, Groupon are doing a "4 Graze boxes for £5" deal at the moment. I just bought 2 lots!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/03/2012 20:58

It says you have to be a new user RGPargy :(

RGPargy · 06/03/2012 22:27

Yes, greyhound. Just use a fake name and a different card than you normally pay with :) It doesn't matter if the name on the card is your "normal" name :)

bexsybooboo · 07/03/2012 06:52

Thanks cinnamon, penguins and rg am just angry with it all, knowing I have been requesting further investigation in to his speech for over a year. He has for a long time always sounded like he has a permanent cold and sinus problems but they haven't done anything.

cinnamon it's difficult when they have speech problems not sure about you but have found it hard, just seeing the frustration ds feels at time and walking him to school one day hearing a little girl point him out to her mum telling her that that's the little boy who can't speak Sad. But bless him he try's and is actually doing well with letter learning but words are not going well.

If it wasn't for his teacher we wouldn't have even got this far. Grrrrrr Sad

At last we can move forward now and hoping the next 3 months past quickly to enable the 2nd assessment and then be placed on waiting list for operation. Cannot believe he now has to wait for a simple operation which could make a whole lot of difference for him. Wish I had money so I could send him private but just haven't got it Sad

On a positive I have been really good so hopefully yesterday will not make a lot of difference to Fridays weigh in, but I do have to watch my what's the point/I don't give a damn eating mood when I feel it happening.

RG am going to look in to graze boxes, someone in work has them but not sure if they are for me! Grin

Right no excuse gym tonight to get rid of my 400/500 cals over last night Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 07/03/2012 07:09

I find it really hard bexsybooboo, I can understand him but his teachers struggle and that was my biggest fear, as well as being picked on, as he'd answer something but they didn't understand what he said and you could do them smile and say yes but I knew they had no idea what he'd said. As I said speech therapy has really worked (Sorry IBlameThePenguins but I was really sceptical) and his teachers understand a lot of what he says now. The problem now is he is writing phonetically and they are trying to get them to do it independently and when he does he mis spells because he doesn't sound things like everyone else eg spiderman he write biderman. It doesn't seem to have stopped him learning though. There was a little boy who he had group therapy with who has gromits put in who has now been signed off therapy much quicker than ds1 as he improved so quickly!
