Back on it like a car bonnet Grin

Well done everyone for the great weight losses Smile

aliciaflorrick · 29/05/2012 09:41

Well I've got my scales, weighed myself and I weigh exactly the same as what I thought was my starting weight two and a half weeks ago! I was guessing at the starting weight so maybe I have lost some weight but I'm not entirely sure. I'm sticking to 1,200 calories a day and I know that I've cut out pretty much all the crap. There are some biscuits in the cupboard that the DCs eat, they're 128 calories each, once upon a time I would have 3-4 at a time with a cup of coffee, and do that about three times a day, as well as other cakes and rubbish. I never used to eat a proper lunch, it was more cake and for breakfast I'd have a big bowl of sugary cereal and then after I'd walked the dog, I'd have a big pain au raisin (live in France, boulangerie on dog walking route, it seemed rude not to call in), however all of that has stopped. I figure I must have been kidding myself about my starting weight to begin with.

Now that I've got the scales I will be able to keep a better eye on things. I'll weigh myself properly tomorrow, before breakfast, wearing only my glasses. Hopefully they will be kinder (and the bloody things talk, so they shout out how much you weigh for the whole house to hear).

Niceupthedance · 29/05/2012 10:33

Talking scales! My idea of a nightmare ;)

I am back on the case after disastrous booze/hangover weekend and gaining a pound. I have no plans to get on the sauce now until September so really going to make an effort. I have bought new batteries for my food scales so no more estimates. Plus have discovered that the odd treat (er, like every day) is not the way forward any more!

I'm SWpanda on MFP for any new people :)

piratecat · 29/05/2012 14:16

thankyou cinnamon.

nimbs, it's great to go under that stone isn't it. and especially when people notice.

if someone says 'ooh pirate, have you lost weight' I practically answer them before they have the word weight out!. 'YES' is my reply, because lets face it it's hard work isn't it.

The mindset, especially when the scales don not seem to budge sometime for weeks. I keep telling myself if i carry on my body will cotton on, and catch up.

Aliciaflorrick, did you weigh on different scales before? anyway, no matter, but as we have all discovered we seem to fluctulate alot.

Scales for the kitchen are a must, it's too easy to cheat and eat too much rice i find.

aliciaflorrick · 29/05/2012 14:19

I didn't have any scales before pirate I just guessed at how much I thought I weighed, I'm thinking I might have underestimated. DH asked me today when was the last time I'd weighed myself and I can remember being weighed in the gym before I got pregnant with DS1 and coming in at 57 kilos (DS1 will be 10 next month), so it's been a while.

Now I've got a definitive weight I can definitely keep an eye on things.

awaywego1 · 29/05/2012 17:33

Lurker popping on for a bit of advice/support if that's ok.
Been MFPIng for 2 weeks, have about a stone to lose ad am on 1200 cals a day which I religiously stick to apart from on Saturdays when I go over a bit. Am eating healthy-porridge with water for breakfast, salad and fruit salad for lunch and fish and veg in the evening with a gin and tonic Grin Remembering to weigh and log everything. Lost a stone about 5 years ago on WLR and kept it off but some has slipped back on on last few months.
Problem is I've lost nothing yet and feel fed up-am only expecting to lose 1 pound a week but would hope that I'd lose at least a couple early on. Feeling demotivated and wanting to give up today. Any ideas gratefully recieved :)

piratecat · 29/05/2012 18:45

I would just say, keep at it. Allow yourself treats. Are you deffo eating 1200?

From what you have written, that sounds under to me. I keep going under and it really backfires.

I was the same, at the start it took me 2 weeks to lose a measly pound.

Have a slice of bread i have one a day, do have milk with your cereal.

Make sure you eat your proteins, and don't be worried if you go over a bit with those.

Lots of water, i hate it but i now keep a mug by the sink and i make sure i drink some every time i go to that sink!! which seems to be alot of times.

Ryvitas are great, lots of different types out there. I also make sure i eat a few brazil nuts a day.

awaywego1 · 29/05/2012 20:31

Thanks Smile definately eating my calories-and do have treats too..but need to eat more protein I think-just had king prawn udon noodle soup-a bit over cals but it felt very nice and healthy.
Also just realised that aunt flo is due on Sunday so I am hoping that might account for no loss this week. I have to remind myself that I feel healthier even if the weight isn't moving yet I think.

piratecat · 29/05/2012 20:50

ahh.

i bet you that is it, be really interesting to see how much you have lost just after your period.

I bet our weight fluctuates all the time, but we only notice it like this when we are weighing in all the time. ( well i do lol)

I bet you lose about 2lb!!

twinkle183 · 29/05/2012 21:54

Evening ladies...

Thought I would pop in to see how everyone is doing!!

Just read about the talking scales.. Hmm not sure about that... mine would probably shout get off!!! lol

Well done to everyone that has loss and if you haven't just keep plugging away it will come off eventually.. sometimes it takes the body a while to catch up!! Oh and just remember that water is your best friend.... Smile

Am feeling great at the moment and completely motivated... seem to have a new lease of life.... Loving insanity at the moment even if this heat... Shock

Am not weighing for another week and a bit so hoping to see a really good loss... have managed to stick to my calories whick I am proud of!!!

Well keep going ladies... Grin

awaywego1 · 29/05/2012 22:17

Thanks pirate. Smile

formerdiva · 29/05/2012 22:31

Hmmm...did w3d1 of c25k tonight and it was hard. I stopped running at one point, and then realised I only had another 30 seconds and I would have been done! Grrrr. Daren't imagine what w4 will be like...

On the upside, I [heart] MFP. Only been on it for a few days, but finding it really motivational.

MaggieMcVitie · 30/05/2012 09:10

Back on it! Have a little under 3 stone to lose (must adjust scales to kg's!)
Feeling like a beached whale, even my baggiest clothes are tight on me but feeling motivated and looking forward to getting the weight off.

Hard to believe that I can lose a stone and still be at a weight that previously would have been me at my 'heavy' point... Sad

..although...losing it all will look more impressive!

Will read through thread properly later Smile

jchocchip · 31/05/2012 06:39

marking spot - I keep losing you!

cinnamongreyhound · 31/05/2012 14:02

That's great nimbs!! Not sure I will go into another st bracket now but it was great when I did previously.

Good to see you back bexsybooboo.

I would say that you probably underestimated your weight when you began, it sounds like you are doing everything right aliciaflorrick Grin

Welcome awaywego1, sounds like you could have put your finger on your lack of weightloss :)

Well done formerdiva I started the c25k in January and am now running three times a week, it really does work. Come and have a look at our thread it's very supportive and we have new people joining all the time.

Hi MaggieMcVitie, you'll be back in those clothes in now time :)

I had a bit of a :( moment with dh last night. He said I look so different he's taken aback and is not sure how to approach me. I told him I'm still the same person and I thought he of all people should know that! I have got used to EVERYONE I know commenting on my weight at every opportunity but I wasn't expecting anything like that from him. It's nice to feel more comfortable in clothes and to look better but I wanted to lose weight to be a healthier person not for any other reason. I'm quite suprised that dh sees me any differently and I will be glad when the thinner me is normal to everyone!!!

aliciaflorrick · 31/05/2012 16:14

I have so blown my calories for today, back in the uk for the jubilee weekend, called in at costa for a coffee and a cake - oh my goodness nearly all my daily calories in one snack. Think I'll have fish and chips tonight and then that's everything I've missed out of the way. Back on the wagon tomorrow.

piratecat · 31/05/2012 16:36

cinnamon, how much have you lost, or how many dress sizes.

did dh have some sort of sudden revelationary vision? it must be weird to see your partner shrink. are you similar to what you were early on in your relationship, or has he not seen you smaller?

Alicia, i would think you have every right to stuff your face with british goodies today. enjoy the fish and chips!!

cinnamongreyhound · 31/05/2012 16:38

Mmmm.... fish and chips!!!!! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 31/05/2012 16:48

Thanks piratecat I have lost 4st 5 (almost 28Kg) gone from a very tight 16 to a very loose 12. I was 12Kg heavier than now just after I had ds1 and that's the smallest I've been since we met. I'm the smallest I've been since I was 18!

piratecat · 31/05/2012 16:55

wow, that's incredible. well done. how long have you been doing mfp?

i was 11.12 and am now 10.7, which is the smallest i have been since pre dd ten yrs ago. (only by a few lbs tho)

i was a 16, now am a fourteen. my goal is 10 stone, maybe more if i feel ok.

cinnamongreyhound · 31/05/2012 20:12

I started just cutting down portions and eating less junk at the beginning of November and started the c25k in January, a lady on the thread there was talking about mfp so I joined then. I lost weight when pregnant and was piling it on as ds2 dropped bf's and it was all going on my belly!

cinnamongreyhound · 31/05/2012 20:14

It's amazing how different people are I'm 10st 8 and 12's are loose everywhere apart from my thighs! I'm 5'5. Well done on your weightloss too piratecat!

nimbs · 31/05/2012 20:26

I'm similar to you piratecat - bit heavier - 5'5 - 10st 11 - but in 14s where I was in a tight 16 (really should have been in 18's I reckon but was in denial :( ) - would like to get to 10 stone - see how I feel - if these last 10lbs don't all come off my belly -I will reassess!

cinnamon - that's a huge achievement, in such a short space of time! well done!

BehindLockNumberNine · 31/05/2012 20:36

cinnamon, I am in awe of your weightloss Smile

Have not been on here much (on this thread) but am reading and it is motivating me, so even if I don't contribute much, you are all still very helpful Thanks
