OP posts:

Doing SO badly, am managing about half a day at the mo and then it all goes to pot when the DC's come home Blush

Am 'starting again' on Monday - I will retire with my head hung low and will be back freshly motivated and determined then...

MonsterBookOfTysons · 24/05/2012 09:54

I am really missing my scales, I am a daily weigh person and this helps motivate me.
I have the money to buy some today but am spending it on taking ds to the football match instead, dc always come first etc :o
I have used the tape measure to record my inch loss instead, I have lost 9 inchs off my hips and 5 inchs off my waist since I first measured a month after starting.

Newbies feel free to add me but leave a message saying you are from mn please :)

Niceupthedance · 24/05/2012 11:53

Maggie, don't let it get you down. But if I were you I'd get straight back on the wagon, not wait until Monday when you might (if you're like me) feel worse about pigging out over the weekend.

This morning my DC got me up at 5am. So at 10am I scoffed a McDonald's sausage and egg muffin. I know why I did that, because it's weigh in day and I have lost nothing, despite really trying hard this week.

I am going out in London tomorrow night as well, calorie-tastic. :(

MaggieMcVitie · 24/05/2012 14:25

Thanks Nice it is really hard when you get on that downward spiral - 3 stone seems like such a lot to lose at the moment. Right - weigh in tomorrow then!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/05/2012 14:53

My diet is rubbish too. I am pathetically excited about the fact that I have a fruit and veg box turning up tomorrow.

The plan is this will force me to include more in my diet.

What happened last time I had a box delivery was most went to the rabbit, and the rest in the compost.

But I am a better cook now, so fingers crossed....

I'm always a bit dubious about the daily sugars /nutrients thing in MFP, that only works if user entered things include all that info, and don't they quite often just bother to put in calories?

Whoever it is that said they weighed every day, nooooo, that way madness lies. I was always up and down if I measured daily. Weekly is much more useful.

BehindLockNumberNine · 24/05/2012 15:42

Has the mfp website crashed?? I have not been able to get onto it to log my food since 8am this morning...
Do Ihave to resort to pen and paper? (or not eat anything until it is fixed...?

BehindLockNumberNine · 24/05/2012 15:55

Oooh, ignore me, it is working now :-)

formerdiva · 24/05/2012 22:31

You've all inspired me to get onto MFP, and blimey - there's a formerdiva already on it! I'll have to be Sweatydiva and try not to sulk about it too much. If anyone wants to be my friend please feel free.

1200 cals seems bloody low. What are people having for breakfast and lunch? My morning porridge, lunchtime ready meal (540 cals) and cups of tea and coffee only leave 300 cals for binging on chocolate the evening meal

BehindLockNumberNine · 25/05/2012 07:28

Welcome former :-)

1200 kcalories is not a lot.... I a lucky in that I a on 1710 before exercise. Hopefully someone will be along shortly who has to eat nearer your calories and can advise.

Will send you an add request Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 25/05/2012 07:43

Where's the halo smiley MonsterBookOfTysons Wink. Seriously, hope you get your scales soon and well done on inch loss :)

Jealous of your fruit and veg box, ItsAllGoingToBeFine, I'm eating much more by choice now- I think healthy eating breeds healthy eating. Still really dislike salads other than tomatoes though, total waste of time to eat and taste horrible Grin

Will add you formerdiva, I have a sandwich usually ham or tuna with one slice of bread, half a tin of soup and bread, beans on toast, houmous and a pitta, meat (if left over from roast) with cherry toms/gherkins with bread sticks/bread/crackers for lunch. Shredded wheat is good for a low calorie but filling breakfast too.

I just wanted to have a bit of a moan. I'm so sick of having no clothes :(, can't afford to buy anymore and am hoping I might just make it into a 10 so don't want too many anyway but in this heat I'm cooking in my jeans :(. Found 3 vest tops size 14 but fit perfectly which is great but still :(. Also I wanted to ask others about skin, I haven't been paticularly kind to my body in my life and putting on 9st between being 19 and 20 has left me with stretch marks everywhere apart from upper back, lower arms, ankles, feet, hands, neck and face! I lost weight down to 13.5st at 24 and skin was fine, I have since fluctuated between 13 and 16st and had two babies so my skin isn't doing bad I guess but it's getting me down a bit. I have wrinkly saggy skin at the top of my arms, on my thighs and above my belly button (hidden well by clothes) am I expecting too much that it will tighten again with time? It's no too bad but just making me feel a bit bleurgh, have lost 27kg/4st 4 6 1/2 months.

CrunchyFrog · 25/05/2012 07:53

cinnamon I don't know with the skin, my belly, top of thighs and couple of other places the skin is terribly saggy and crepey. Hoping exercise will help in the end. My belly is getting better, but the stretch marks are still noticable.

cinnamongreyhound · 25/05/2012 09:20

My stretch marks are so old they are very silvery now so not too noticeable. I hope I didn't sound really ungrateful to those just starting their journey it's just although my old body was fat it was familiar and I knew how to dress it. This new body has plus points but it also has negatives which aren't familiar to me at all!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 25/05/2012 10:02

Smaller jeans! Smaller jeans! Skippety hop!

Brand new pair of jeans so not stretched yet, been in my cupboard for about 3 years as they didn't even fit me when they were bought. Tried them on on the off chance just now and they fit perfectly! Into the bin with you saggy old big jeans!

New jeans are an 18 but that's a hell of a lot better than the 22 I was in

:o

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/05/2012 13:34

formerdiva 1200 calories IS very low.

TBH I reccomend setting your weight loss goals lower so you have more daily calories.

I was on 1280 and just couldn't hack it. I was starving all the time and never came in on target so I ate more because I was depressed at lack of control. Didn't lose any weight, in fact put on a few pounds.

Changed my weightloss goals a couple of weeks ago so I am now on 1500 a day, much more manageable and I am actually losing weight now.

If your cals are too low your body will go into starvation mode, and it will be v hard and v demoralising to shift anything.

GwendolineMaryLacey congrats, thats a great feeling isn't it :-)

God my fruit and veg box today. Am going to get bigger one next week :-)

For lunch I had a wrap with a tomato, mizuna, home made honey mustard dressing. Half an apple and a handful of dried cherries, raisins and nuts. I actually felt really full, I think the variety helped with that. I feel very noble and healthy now.

Must try and not scoff half a tub of Carte D Or tonight like I have done for the past two nights

Is anyone else finding that the hot weather stops you feeling so hungry? I find it really helps, or maybe it is all the extra water I am drinking.

Enjoy the nice weather, and enjoy your food :-D

aliciaflorrick · 25/05/2012 15:44

I think it must be the water that's filling us up, I got to lunchtime and didn't really feel hungry at all, but ate a bowl of cereal just to stop my sugar levels dipping, because that's when I hit the cake.

UtterlyButterly · 25/05/2012 15:53

ItsAllGoingToBeFine I agree this weather makes me want to eat less and I am drinking 3 litres of water a day!!! I was barely getting through two cups last week.

I have bought the Shred DVD, it should be here today or tomorrow. I am dreading it Grin

I am little_miss123 on MFP feel free to add me, I would love to have more people to turn to for support.

phedre · 25/05/2012 16:15

I just found the mumsnet group of mfp (www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/840-mumsnet) but it doesn't appear to be very active. :(

phedre · 25/05/2012 16:16

Sorry for poor linkage www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/840-mumsnet

BehindLockNumberNine · 25/05/2012 16:18

Have just joined that group. Now we need to get it more active Smile

UtterlyButterly · 25/05/2012 16:50

I have joined it too. It looks all sad and empty at the moment Sad

UtterlyButterly · 25/05/2012 16:54

MFP name changed to Utterly_Butterly so it's not confusing

bexsybooboo · 26/05/2012 08:21

Bookmarking for my return on Monday Smile

Well done to the weight losses going on and welcome to newbies Smile

Have been sort of sticking to it this week Blush but not logged and only managed one session at the gym Blush but should be back to work Tuesday so preparing myself to come back to MFP and my exercise programmes Smile, just lost all enthusiasm this week and finally decided to take me time so have spent a lot of time in garden reading trying to destress Smile

BehindLockNumberNine · 26/05/2012 09:17

Aaaargh!!!! Getting really frustrated. Have been really good this week, stuck to the rules, exercised, drank water...
I have put on weight. Sad I have also not pood since tuesday Sad [uncomfortable] Please tell me those two are related??? [beg]

What on earth is going on??? I used to be a regular-as-clockwork-every-morning person.

So, give me your list of must-eat-foods-to-keep-things-moving. Please...

Am sooo disheartened Sad

BehindLockNumberNine · 26/05/2012 09:44

Sorry, my mistake, have lost a little bit this week. But still concerned and fed up with the constipation.

I just want to poo!!!!!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/05/2012 10:31

Semi soft dried apricots are fantastic at getting you moving. If you want something "proper" Fybogel sachets are really good too.
