RedHotPokers I stick to my limit per day but with other diet you can save up points so I guess it's the same with calories?!?! Give it a try for a few weeks and if your weightloss is not what you'd hoped then perhaps rethink.

You're welcome bexsybooboo, it's horrible feeling down. I had ds2 in september 2010 and am a childminder so went back to work when he was 3 weeks old. At the time I felt it was hard working 7.30-6 with a baby who woke 3-4 times a night and didn't sleep through until 7 months but it wasn't until I came out the other side that I realised just how down I'd been and looking back may have been mildly depressed. Losing weight and doing more exercise has given me a lot more energy and made me much less tired/grumpy/snappy/lazy. I had 3 days last week where I felt like my old self it was horrible I never want to be that person again. Hope work eases up for you and you find other ways than eating to cope with it. I also added your fil :)

Hopefully · 18/05/2012 08:08

RedHot it should work - you might find you have a bit of water/bloat weight the day after, but it should level out. If it doesn't, maybe rethink Smile

I am excited that I have stayed below 10st for 3 days, and have finally input my loss into MFP.

We're going camping next week, and I'm slightly worried about over-indulging. Will just try to keep logging and not go over maintenance calories I think. Haven't had such a long time away from my 'safe' meals and snack since starting this diet.

phedre · 18/05/2012 12:27

Just popping into say hello to peoplethat I have friended on MFP even though I am usually a lurker on Mumsnet and also to say thanks as I would not have actually found MFP if not for the discussions about it on mumsnet (if that makes sense).

I don't think I will log my food today as it is involving a few glasses of red wine (as it is Friday night in Australia). But it is very addictive just tracking everything.

On a side note - the cardio vs strength debates remind me of the bf v ff battles here

cinnamongreyhound · 18/05/2012 22:09

Just wanted to say I have been quite independent with my weightloss, didn't want to join a group but it's lovely having you all for support. I do like that it's quite anonymous still Grin.

Back to losing now its so bizarre, sts for 3 days, put on 500g over 2 days, sts for a day and now lost 900g in 2 days with nothing different at all! Every day under calories exercising most days just my body I guess!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/05/2012 07:22

Well I am pleased to say that I now have a normal bmi!!!!! Have made it to 67.9Kg! Sooooo chuffed, now to set a new target as I'm not quite finished, perhaps 65Kg?

GwendolineMaryLacey · 19/05/2012 07:48

Well done! That must be a fantastic feeling. I think if I lose what you have it might squeeze me into 'overweight' instead of obese! Hey ho.

Congratulations :) What a great start to your weekend.

cinnamongreyhound · 19/05/2012 08:07

I was obese when I started GwendolineMaryLacey so it is doable, keep at it and you'll get there :)

MonsterBookOfTysons · 19/05/2012 09:42

Well done Cinnamon :o
65 kg sounds sensible :)

CrunchyFrog · 19/05/2012 10:16

Well done Cinnamon!

GML, I was well into obese when I started too, I celebrated being in the overweight category tbh!

My target weight will put me at a BMI of about 22 I think, which seems about right for me.

I am up and down like a yoyo this week, I think I'm only going to record Monday weights (although still weigh daily) as the difference is about 3lb either way! Average for the week is still 10.3 though, can't wait to get under the 10 mark.

(anybody looking at my diary this week will notice I have eaten mainly crap, but under my calories worth of it. Need to tackle that, and get more good stuff in, as I feel like shit.)

RedHotPokers · 19/05/2012 13:51

Slightly odd question, but I have had a yucky taste in my mouth for the last day or two, and am thinking my breath may be a bit yucky too. Is it possible this is linked to my calorie reduction (have been eating a lot of salad and virtually no sweet stuff - am normally a total choc/sweet-aholic!)?

RGPargy · 19/05/2012 23:07

You could be in ketosis. Normally when that happens, you get a sort of metallic taste in your mouth and you can also suffer from bad breath...... Hmm

sparkleshine · 19/05/2012 23:43

Evening all.
Welcome to the new members :) Hope it helps you lose those few extra lbs and you reach your targets. Btw Im sparklemummy on MFP if you Wish to add me.

Weigh day tomorrow again. So want to get my BMI below 30 this week, just seems to be lingering but considering it was 41 when I started I'm not doing too bad. Hoping it's due to extra muscle instead.

Well done to those that have lost again and chin up and carry on for those that haven't :)

Hmm metallic taste? Not sure Ive had that myself or what it's caused by. Could be the change in diet, maybe sugar levels? Hope it rights itself soon, maybe once your body adjusts.

MaggieMagnolia · 20/05/2012 08:15

Hi, can i join you all?

Had a bit of a false start last week but am startin anew tomorrow and I WILL stick to it this time!

My mfp name is Neenook - I have no friends at the moment!! Grin

MaggieMagnolia · 20/05/2012 08:15

*starting

Niceupthedance · 20/05/2012 08:52

Hello everyone, sorry I've been crap about updating here. Congrats to everyone who is doing so well, very inspiring!

I've had some weird virus this week which has made me feel nauseous and tired all the time. All I can face eating is carbs and rubbish. Bit like morning sickness actually (no not pg unless immaculate conception!)

Missed gym on thurs as a result, and now see that the bloody Olympic torch is in town on my next gym day and all roads will be blocked - typical!

Wishing everyone a low cal Sunday. If anyone wants to add me on mfp I am SWpanda. Smile

MidnightHag · 20/05/2012 09:06

Another newbie here. Has anyone invested in the gadgety thing that links up to MFP and records what exercise you do etc. Is it worth it? Bit pricey!

RedHotPokers · 20/05/2012 09:15

Rgpargy, that sounds like what I've got. I have been eating less carbs, but still eating some (roll for lunch, small jacket potato with most dinners, small pizza last night) but much less than normal. Is it a problem? I googled it and info wad confusing.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/05/2012 10:00

Wow, I somehow managed to lose 3lbs! The boost I needed after a frankly crap day yesterday.

MidnightHag you mean the Fitbit thingie? I was very tempted too as I am a great fan of gadgets. I had a look in the MFP forums and lots of people seemed to be having problems - if I could afford it no problem I'd give it a go, but as I'm skint I didn't want to risk it.

cinnamongreyhound · 20/05/2012 11:47

Welcome MaggieMagnolia and midnightHag, I'm same name as here on mfp, feel free to add me :)

Feel better soon Niceupthedance.

Well done ItsAllGoingToBeFine!!!!!

BehindLockNumberNine · 20/05/2012 22:40

Welcome Midnight and Maggie Smile

Feel free to add me, I am petd on MFP.

Decided not to weigh myself this morning despite it being the official weigh-in day. Have stuck with the weight I recorded yesterday and just aim to do better.
Feeling a bit emotionally down atm and that is not helping my weight Sad

Cinnamon - 65kg sounds very good! My goal is 90, which I think I have not bee since I was about 16 years old. According to the bmi calculators it still leaves me in the overweight category though...

aliciaflorrick · 21/05/2012 08:00

Good morning all, and hello to everyone who is my friend on MFP.

Well I've been at this for a week, I don't have any scales so I don't know how I'm doing but I pulled a pair of jeans on this morning and I feel they're a little less tight around the hips and a little less muffiney on my muffin top, so here's hoping it's working. I might buy a set of scales on pay day, but I've refused to have them in the house since I was about 16 when I got very silly around food and not eating and weighing myself every day, but I am CONSIDERABLY older these days and have a lot less will power for starvation so I should be okay.

I haven't found this week too bad, being able to fit in a mini kit kat every day has been my saving point I think, I love sweet stuff and chocolate and cut it all out for the first four days but the cravings were terrible, with this little bit of chocolate I feel like I'm not cutting out everything I love.

Here's to another good week.

aliciaflorrick · 21/05/2012 11:26

If anybody is doing the 30 day shred, how do they log this on MFP?

BehindLockNumberNine · 21/05/2012 13:23

Hi alicia Smile
I have not yet done 30 day shred (too scared to) so can't help you there but just wanted to say hi and that I am in awe of you doing this without scales (I understand you have a good reason though)
I am the opposite - if I don't have access to scales I immediately go off the wagon and eat what I want.

Scales keep me in check and I have to force myself to step on them every week...

Today a lovely colleague at work remarked that I looked like I had lost weight. She knows I am dieting so am sure she is just being kind but still, it made me happy Grin

UtterlyButterly · 21/05/2012 14:01

Hello everyone :)

Today is day one for me on MFP. I had that moment over the weekend where I realised enough was enough.

I cannot put any more weight on at all. I am verging on obese according to BMI. I burst into tears when I read that.

I am hoping that being on here and MFP with motivate me enough to pull my finger out. I don't want to be fat anymore :(

CrunchyFrog · 21/05/2012 14:20

Not a flipping ounce this week, grrrr. But have eaten shit, mainly, although below calories, and exercise has mainly been limited to late night raising of a glass. So better behaviour this week, I feel rubbish so that's a great incentive (my diary is frankly embarrassing).
