Sorry things are hard, Twinkle, but tomorrow is a fresh start :) it is demoralising when you don't lose or gain for no readily apparent reason.

BehindLockNumberNine · 16/05/2012 21:37

Agree with Crunchy, tomorrow is another day Twinkle xx
Hang in there, you are doing great and it will happen.

Hope things improve for you soon, sending you a mumsnetty punch on the shoulder and a Brew

Hello all! Im a very newbie- only a couple of days in.

Trying to lose 21lbs (currently have bmi of 26). Going for 1lb a week, 1500 cals per day.

Sticking to 1500 has just highlighted to me just how much I was eating!

Spent the evening feeling hungry, whilst dh (who had been on a 3 hour bike ride - c1400 cals burnt apparently! Grr), tucked into a whole garlic bread!!! I definitely need to do more exercise!

cinnamongreyhound · 17/05/2012 07:01

Welcome RedHotPokers, feel free to add me on mfp same name as here.

Sorry cant remember who was asking about being hungry and it's back a page on my phone! But yes I was hungry a lot when I first started, I was just cutting down portions and not eating crap all evening and didn't find mfp until 3 months later so no idea how many calories I was having. I just put up with it tbh and found in the evenings a galaxy hit chocolate helped the hunger pangs and sweet cravings and I think 98calories? I don't think the loss of hunger is weight related, I was 14st 13 and had only lost 8lb before I stopped getting hungry. I do get hungry now but its not all day and I just eat something small and I'm fine again Grin

bexsybooboo · 17/05/2012 07:23

twinkle123 am in exactly same position as you this week. Have just weighed a day early but that won't make much difference and I have out on 2ibs WTF Sad

I have been so good this week with both food and like you exercising like a good un. Feel I should record it but it has proper made me Angry so thinking if I don't record I have more chance of keep going rather than look at it and get disheartened pissed off big time and say fxxk it give up.

Am doing a body pump class today which I am tempted to cancel as feeling so Sad by it this week. Am having awful time at work and feeling very down so was banking on a weight loss to cheer me up.

Am just going to have a little cry before I decide what to do today, it's so silly but it does get you.

Good luck everyone as I need to read your blogs so I can be inspired again Wink

twinkle183 · 17/05/2012 08:18

Morning...

I have a good talking to myself this morning and have decided that it's a just a small set back.... Am I am determined to get this weight off! I am not going anywhere near those scales for 2 weeks! Grin Just gonna concentrate on exercise and the food consumption not that I was having a problem I am sure that it'll come off!!! Hmm

Well done to everyone who is loosing!!! bexsybooboo seeing we are in the same boat maybe we should motivate each other Wink

bexsybooboo · 17/05/2012 09:27

twinkle183 sounds like a plan Smile, I will give myself a good talking to now.

I am also going to try and decrease my carb intake which I think I am going to find incredibly hard and increase my water.

Am thinking I may start this tomorrow as just had a bacon sandwich and a sausage sandwich pig out this morning Blush which is really bad but I just didn't care an hour ago Sad

Well here is to the rest of the day Smile

bexsybooboo · 17/05/2012 09:38

Hey guys just a quick one.

My FIL has signed up to MFP and has been doing it for 10 days. He only has one friend Moi Grin

If anyone would like to add him to show him how it's done and how amazing you are all doing so he believes in MFP his username is donkers55 Smile am hoping once he gets friend my MIL might be encouraged to start also rather than comtinuing to do faddy diets where she looses the weight really well but the moment she stops it all piles on as they are quick fix diets.

Thanks Guys

GwendolineMaryLacey · 17/05/2012 10:15

Is it too late for me to join? Ive been doing this since Easter and am 21lbs down but I'm a heifer am finding it really good to keep track of eBay in eating.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 17/05/2012 10:16

EBay? Wtf? Keep track of what I'm eating that should say!

BehindLockNumberNine · 17/05/2012 12:39

Twinkle and Bexsy - that sounds like a plan, go for it!!
Bexsy, will search out your FIL later and send him an add request Smile
Gwendoline, what is your user name on mfp?
I am petd, please add me if you like Smile

Have just rushed home from work for my lunchbreak, walked the dog for another quick 15 mins, pegged washing out, am now having a quick lunch before rushing back in 5 minutes....

ViviPru · 17/05/2012 12:53

Hello everyone, and especially to GML :)

My poor dopey basset hound is recovering from surgery as we speak after swallowing a pinecone that got lodged in her small intestine Shock So my daily 30min dog walk might not be possible for a while. Its going to take all my motivation to get up the hill without her Sad

aliciaflorrick · 17/05/2012 13:42

Please can I join you? I started MFP on Monday and I'm off on holiday in July so I want to get my weight down to fit into my holiday clothes because I can't afford to buy any new ones. I don't know how much I weigh as I don't possess any scales, but I've got a pair of trousers from Wallis I want to wear on holiday, they used to fit but at the moment the button and the button hole are about an inch apart - this must change.

I'm trying really hard, I was trying to do low carb, a friend told me I needed to be on 20 grams of carbs for the first two weeks, I'm finding this impossible to do and I usually finish the day at around 45 grams of carbs. MFP has me on 1,200 calories and I've just about finished under goal for the last three days.

BUT I miss cake and biscuits and sweets and chocolate, before I would snack, snack all day - I could easily eat a packet of biscuits in a day. I'm really craving something sweet. Even though I'm supposed to be low carbing it, I've had a melon today just because it was sweet and I'm now sitting here fantasizing of the cheapo packet of malted milks in the cupboard.

If anybody has any tips I'd be really grateful, also I work from home and am a single parent so spend most of the day alone, so some motivation would be great. Please feel free to add me on MFP my name is nw2305.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 17/05/2012 16:50

Have only used the diary bit so far. Not got to adding friends yet. Will have a look. I'm Rockbird86 :)

On a tangent, I found some elderly popping corn in the cupboard and have been nibbling all day. That's not too terrible is it?

MonsterBookOfTysons · 17/05/2012 17:56

Hi to all the newbies. Please feel free to add me over there, same name as on here :)

cinnamongreyhound · 17/05/2012 18:12

Sorry to hear that bexsybooboo, I commented on mfp so don't want to repeat myself. Onwards and upwards, well actually downwards I guess!

Welcome GwendolinMaryLacey and aliciaflorrick, my tip would be cut down portions to give you enough calories to snack and hot chocolate is great for sweet tooth and filling you up.

Niceupthedance · 17/05/2012 19:45

GML - beware the popcorn! I made some yesterday after remembering some old bollocks about Madonna eating it (ie it must be fat free). 480 calories for a bag of the microwave stuff errrk!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 17/05/2012 20:31

Bollocks. Was it just plain? This was a health foody type bag of nasty little kernels that I stuck in a bowl in the microwave. No oil, butter, salt, sugar or taste

HeathRobinson · 17/05/2012 20:39

Hi all.

I was wondering about joining MFP, but I'dloke to know how much personal info you have to give out? Before I sign up, iyswim. Really need to shift quite a few pounds.

RedHotPokers · 17/05/2012 20:40

Thanks Cinnamon.

Just wondering how strict people are per day, or do you average over the week if you've done well IYSWIM?

My target is 1500c, and I have been regularly hitting about 1500 - 1550 not counting exercise. Most days I burn off at least 150c on the school run and once or twice a week I go for a swim. 500c burned today in exercise, but am still just over the 1500c mark for food. How bad is it to kind of bank my 'unspent' exercise calories and save them for pizza on Saturday night?!!!!! I currently have about 600+ unspent since monday - but does it really work like that (I LOVE PIZZA Grin)?

I think I can keep this going by being super good in the week (easier due to being at work pt and not generally having one second spare), and relaxing a bit on the w/e, but will it lead to weight loss?

HeathRobinson · 17/05/2012 20:41

Huh, that'll teach me to preview!

I'd like

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/05/2012 20:41

Just email address I think?

Obv you need to put in age/height/weight etc but it wont identify you in RL

HeathRobinson · 17/05/2012 20:45

Oh really? Great! Thanks a lot. Smile

Bproud · 17/05/2012 20:58

Alicia I'm a snack fiend as well, so I allow myself one small (kiddies) bar of chocolate everyday, I know I am going to have that at the end of the day, so can resist other stuff during the day. I have been off track recently, but am back with a vengence this week.

bexsybooboo · 17/05/2012 21:15

Hey cinnamon thanks for your response on MFP. I have also replied an going to keep my carbs in as I'm definitely not in a headspace to become any lower than what I currently am mood wise. Sad

I need to just monitor the carb bread intake more as 5slices within 1 day is quite a lot but gammon and eggs without bread just isn't right Smile.

I have had to write today off though as I did gorge turn to comfort food sausage and bacon sandwiches and then chicken dippers with home made chips for tea with lots a bit of mayonnaise Sad

Am surprised at how down I am at moment but knew it was coming with work being as tough and soul destroying as it has been the last 2 years but kept fighting but all has crept up on me Sad

I have to remember and make sure everyone else knows that MFP does work and I have felt so much better within myself with gym, swimming, running and my body pump classes Smile reckon that's what has kept me going lol

Welcome newbies hope you enjoy the journey with us Smile my username is bexsy if you want to add me Smile
