New thread since the old one is full :)

Bad day here! Utterly exhausted from busy weekend, then kids had playdate until 7.30, had burger king for lunch and made macaroni cheese for kids, couldn't be arsed to make my salad so had that too!

Might as well round off the day with some ice cream, tomorrow will be better (3lb off this week, total loss of 87lb since starting dieting what feels like 100 years ago.)

BehindLockNumberNine · 14/05/2012 20:44

Wow crunchyfrog, 87lbs!!!!!!! That is my target loss, I am sooooo far off it feels unreachable (not in the least because I have had a lovely but non-diet-friendly weekend back home in Amsterdam and today ate my own bodyweight in liquorice as I was feeling homesick....

Oh well, tomorrow is another day!

Hopefully · 14/05/2012 21:01

Muscles: don't laugh, but I have been amazed to discover how, ermm, rock solid muscles are in comparison to fat! I actually have bum and thigh muscles under the remaining jiggle, and when they're tense they're solid as a rock! Now I just need to get rid of the layer of jiggle on top...

Crunchy wow, amazing loss!!

I totally over-ate today, cheerful in the knowledge that I would burn it off with Insanity later on, then realised that today is the 'cardio recovery' day, so I only burned about 130 calories. Whoops! Oh well, what's a slice of cake or three here or there? It was wholemeal too, so totally healthy Grin

Wifezilla · 14/05/2012 22:03

Wow, some amazing weightloss going on! I am going to weigh on Friday and see if the scales have decided I've made enough effort to shift downwards....

I had a bad day too, not sure why but was at home today and the weather is so miserable (even after a lovely sunny weekend!). I made a pretty awful dinner which the boys didn't eat much of (couldn't blame them!) so I think that didn't help.

The exercise side of things is going well though and I'm really enjoying getting back into Insanity, and enjoying even more that there are others doing it too! I guess I'm not really doing it properly - I'm having one day off (Thurs) and either running (2 or 3 x a week) and doing Insanity on the other days, following the schedule but skipping the cardio recovery day. I hope it works...

I'm back at work tomorrow where it's easier not to snack, as long as I can avoid the biscuit cupboard... Grin

Wifezilla · 14/05/2012 22:08

Hopefully - regarding muscles...if I was to walk around fully tensed up, in the right light (rather dim) I'd look ok. Very strange, but toned ;0) The jiggle on top is my problem too! And the jiggle on the jiggle....

MonsterBookOfTysons · 14/05/2012 23:48

I am sure you have all seen my dimmed lighting toned tummy profile pic Wink

Niceupthedance · 15/05/2012 09:34

Supposed to be going to the gym this morning but was up making boiling bowls of Vicks for DS's room all last night as he has yet another cold. Of course he got up full of beans at 6.15 as normal. I have just eaten a buttered crumpet in defeat Sad

MackerelOfFact · 15/05/2012 12:15

Well done to everyone on their losses, especially sparkleshine, wow!

Weigh-in at the end of week one and I have lost 6lbs. Very pleased with that indeed and can see/feel the difference (or so I keep telling myself) so that's a massive motivator.

Not finding it at all hard so far but I'm sure that's easily said when you're only one week in and have lost weight! I can imagine week 5 when I've inexplicably put on weight and am dying for a doughnut will be the acid test.

twinkle183 · 15/05/2012 12:29

Afternoon girls...

I am not a happy bunny.... Sad I weighed myself today and have put on Shock thats right put on and I am not sure why??? Hmm I have been under my calorie goal everyday and have been exercising like a gooden'... so any advice from you lovely ladies would be gratefully received Smile!

But i guess it could be water weight... Hmm stopped drinking the usual amount of water for some strange reason but am not going to let it get me down and start pigging out like I usually would... Not gonna weigh for two weeks and see if that makes a difference???

Well done to all those loosing although I am Envy I am so chuffed that the scales are going in the correct direction. Smile

I know what you girlies are saying about the jiggle I have several!! 3 kiddies worth... but working so hard to get rid but I am hoping that it'll get firm soon... lol who am I kidding

Keeping going girlies.. Wink

Hopefully · 15/05/2012 13:05

Sad twinkle. I weighed about 2lbs more for the whole of my first week of insanity - all water retention for muscle repair, I'm guessing. It fell off about 9 days in. Maybe it's that?

cinnamongreyhound · 15/05/2012 13:18

I usually put on a few hundered grams every other week twinkle183, I lose well, 1-1.5Kg, one week then stay the same/often put on a bit the next week and these are the weeks I have my period and am ovulating. It's so frustrating when you're doing all the right things and even though I know what's happening it still gets me down. My dh calls it 'the bloat'!! Try and keep a note of it and see if there is a pattern, might help you to feel better about it :)

Wow! Well done MackeralOfFact!!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/05/2012 23:09

Random question/advice wanted.

As some of you may know I have been really struggling with my calorie allowance (a paltry 1280 cals) (I have come in under I think twice since I signed up last year)

This is with me wanting to lose 1lb a week.

Would it be really weak of me to go for 1/2lb a week instead - this would give me an extra 300 cals to play with.

I'm worried that if I do this I'll lose weight even slower/gain as I'll still eat over, or if I stay within then I'dd def lose weight slower as it would be an extra 300 cals a day.

On the other hand maybe it would be psychologically better for me to have slightly more chance of actually coming in on target more often.

What to do?

CrunchyFrog · 16/05/2012 08:14

I would put it up. I started with 1200 but was struggling, with 1500 I don't hit it most days, especially not with exercise.

Hopefully · 16/05/2012 08:44

I have mine set to 0.5lb a week and still miss it about 50% of the time! I think anything under about 1350 is so restrictive, especially without exercise calories to eat, that inevitably you end up starving and eating too much every now and again.

MackerelOfFact · 16/05/2012 09:38

ItsAllGoingToBeFine - Mine is set to 1lb a week which is 1370 I think. I'm usually 50-150 under that so looked at setting it to 1.5 or 2lbs a week, but it gives 1200 for both of those so I assume that's the very bottom target, and therefore 1370 is probably about the lowest I should go.

I'd probably set it to 0.5lbs a week if I were you and then aim to eat 200 cals (or whatever) under that. I aim to try and leave 100 cals between my target and actual, which either allows for peace of mind at the end of the day or a Solero/hot choc, depending which I need most!

CrunchyFrog · 16/05/2012 10:09

Mine's 1520 to lose 1lb a week!

MonsterBookOfTysons · 16/05/2012 10:16

Mine is set to lose 1lb a week.
I only get 1290 cals which is probably due to go down now.

OneTwoOrThree · 16/05/2012 13:32

Mine is set at 1200 to lose 2lb per week, but not much more than this to lose 0.5lb per week. I reckon MFP have a lower limit they allo of 1200 cals.

Hopefully · 16/05/2012 13:41

onetwo you're right - MFP won't ever put you below 1200. Which is a bit silly, because 1200 is way too low if you're a 6 foot Amazonian, but you could happily go lower if you're a 4'10" petite waif.

OneTwoOrThree · 16/05/2012 13:45

I posted most of this on MFP over the past couple of days, but thought I would add here as well for anyone I'm not friends with on MFP, and any lurkers :)

PS Feel free to add me as a friend on MFP (same name as here)

I started reading about other peoples successes, and decided I would 'sort out' my clothes. I have various sized clothes (10/12/14) in boxes in the attic and above the wardrobe, and also boxes of smart dresses and holiday clothes.

I got all the boxes out and spent an evening sorting them.... Now I have chucked all the clothes that were "done" (no idea why I kept them in the first place), put all my pregnancy and work clothes in the attic (currently on maternity leave) and put the size 14s in my wardrobe. Most of these size 14s don't quite fit (yet!), but I don't intend on buying any more size 16s. It shouldn't be too much longer, maybe 2-3 weeks, before the 14s are wearable (in the meantime I am making do with a select few items).

I've also put the size 12s in boxes on top of the wardrobe. I've got some quite nice things in there some never worn and look forward to fitting in to them.

The size 10s? Well these are back in the attic. It's over 10 years since these fitted, and to be honest my dress sense has changed somewhat (not to mention fashion has changed). I'm not sure why I'm keeping them, but it would be great to try them on one day and find they fit.

So, what progress have I made.....? Well I weigh every day and log on Wednesday. Last week I lost a surprising 3lb, and this week have put on 0.5lb. I'm a bit disappointed to see the scales go the wrong way, but do know that 2.5lb in 2 weeks is still a very good loss. Hope to lose at least 1lb by next week.
I've been doing MFP for 5 weeks now, and have lost 10.5lbs - averaging just over 2lb per week which is great.

It's early days, but I'm still feeling motivated. Hope to increase my exercise, but with a hard working DP, a toddler and a breastfeeding newborn it's hard to fit it in..... (not to mention, I'm tired from broken sleep).

Onwards and upwards downwards Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 16/05/2012 13:56

It's worth a try if what you're doing now isn't working ItsAllGoingToBeFine! I am on 1420 calories for a lb a week but I am often under that. Mfp do seem to have a lower limit of 1200 for anyone!

That's fab OneTwoOrThree! I certainly wouldn't beat yourself up about not exercising with a newborn, go for a nice walk but otherwise don't put too much pressure on yourself.

sparkleshine · 16/05/2012 14:54

Hiya all
Just been catching up. Well done mackerel for your first week :) it does feel good and hope it keeps you motivated.
twinkle that's crap you put on, but I've done it more than once. It just helps you work harder to lose it next time although you seem to be doing well with food and excersising so might just be muscle increase. Don't let it put you off. Smile and carry on :)
Well done for everyone else who has lost this week :)
onetwoorthree I'm sure you will fit back into the 12's and feel great with it :) don't push yourself too much though with a newborn.

I really don't drink enough water I've noticed. Only with cordial, and I'm addicted to diet coke which I know isn't good but it's virtually no calories. Don't drink tea or coffee either.
My target started with 1580 I think, and now 1230. I changed target loss from 2lb week to 1lb and gym from 3 x week to twice and it reduced my cals by 80 so not sure how that works. Personally I think it's still a bit low so try to have 1300 at least whether I excersise or not.

BehindLockNumberNine · 16/05/2012 15:53

Hello all! Sorry, not been on for a while - been away for a few days, came back to a chaotic time at work (SATS week), now it is that time of the month and I fancy carbs, carbs and more sugary carbs and I need a kick up the backside.
Have resisted the chocolate cake in the staffroom today (colleague's birthday)... so at least that is a good thing:-)

I have been reading the thread and am in awe of those of you on around 1500 calories or less.

I am currently on 1720 before exercise and find that fine but am very aware that as my weight drops the calories will go down and am fretting about that already as I love my food (which is why I ended up here in the first place Sad) Do you get used to eating less? Do you feel less hungry as you get smaller?
Mind you, I have quite a while to go before I need to start worrying I think...

bexsybooboo · 16/05/2012 18:00

itsallgoingtobefine I started on 1200 lost weight quickly but then plateud for a good couple of weeks even though sticking to 1200 Sad was hungry alot also, so changed my target weekly loss now on 1340 and finding it a lot better with steady weight loss of between 1 and 2 ib per week which I'm Smile about.

Am happy with this steady loss as learning to maintain it along the way Smile

Am hoping for a nice loss this week as been able to hit gym/swimming pool and classes a bit more as currently not at work as off with stress Sad but gym has been my saviour this week as really helps my headspace Smile so will be proper Sad if I don't lose but will keep going.

twinkle183 · 16/05/2012 20:28

Thanks girls for all the encouraging words.... I have had a s&*t Blush day and I unfortunately have taken it out on food... Been given some awful news... Sad I have completley stuffed my faced.... I was doing so well as well! I know what to do and I know that tomorrow is another day and I will give myself a shake so that I can focus again.. Smile

Well done to everyone that is loosing I am really chuffed Grin for you all but at the same time really Envy that I have been working so hard and not getting the results that I feel I deserve! Confused

I think I am just gonna weigh monthly cos it really is heartbreaking when you don't see the results.

I shall jump back on the band wagon tomorrow...

Keep going girls!!! x Sorry to rant!!!!
