New thread since the old one is full :)

OP posts:

Welcome crunchyfrog, that's fab weight loss. I stumbled across mfp while on another thread on mn definitely a good tool! Good luck with your last stone.

So interesting to read the differences in everyone's goal weights, just goes to show we all do have different frames and that bmi is not the only thing to worry about. Often wonder what mariusz pudzianowski (worlds strongest man)'s bmi would be, definitely not obese but must be over 35 I would have thought.

Not been feeling great the last week, more tired than usual and quite light headed when I get up. Wondering whether I should take a trip to the dr about my iron after all.

Hopefully · 10/05/2012 13:51

cinnamon have you tried an iron supplement and orange juice? I started to feel better within a week or so when I was anaemic earlier this year. Floridax or something else natural is a bit less, erm, bungy uppy than pills.

Crunchy great loss! I am trying to kick start after the plateau from hell (6 weeks and counting) just a few lbs from goal, so happy to offer moral support!

Still have sore throat, but literally no other symptoms at all, so intend to exercise this evening.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/05/2012 14:36

Thanks Hopefully, I was resisting supplements because of the bungy uppyness! I had been recommended Floridax so might give it a go, just need to find a spare 5 mins to get to the shops!

ViviPru · 10/05/2012 23:30

Signing up to thread. Grin

I've got exactly 365 days to get into the small sz 12 wedding dress that's hanging in the cupboard in the spare room. I'm a large sz14. Eeek.

Been doing MFP for about a month, but foolishly didn't weigh myself when I started, just went off a weight taken before Christmas. I'm now hoping I've put on weight between Xmas and starting MFP as I weighed myself for the first time this week and was a kg over the sodding start weight!

So I'm 12st 8lb, 5'6" and I'm aiming for a 2st weight loss in a year.

Trying to keep to 1390 net cals, but finding that VERY hard as I'm either way under if I do exercise, or way over at the weekends when we often dine with friends or go out...

Hoping this thread will keep me informed and following best practice!

bexsybooboo · 11/05/2012 07:41

Two stone in a year is very doable, you will be fine Smile

Username is petd, please feel free to add me.

Currently batteling a bit of a tummy bug - will of course help the weightloss but I feel rotten...

ViviPru · 11/05/2012 09:25

Thanks for the welcome ladies, added you both. I'm Miss Phirefly :)

HipHopOpotomus · 11/05/2012 09:31

Welcome Vivi - I've just friended you on MFP!
2 stone over a year is a great goal

ViviPru · 11/05/2012 09:40

Thanks HipHop I'm optimistic, when I was diagnosed with gallstones a few years ago I stopped eating saturated fat to manage the pain, and inadvertently lost about 2 stone in a year (was doing lots of cycling then though) So I know I can do it. Just wish they'd kept my gallbladder in there though, that pain was the best incentive ever to eat well!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/05/2012 09:48

Welcome ViviPru, you will be fine with 2st in a year. 0.5 lb a week is 24lb which is close enough and I have found I am averaging 2lb a week since I started in November. I have lost 4st so it's a bit more to lose but so far touch wood I haven't slowed as I've got closer to goal, I'm not 10st 12. I am massively under when I exercise and I know others don't agree but I tend not to eat my exercise calories. Could you exercise when you know you are going out that evening? What is your weekly weightloss goal? If you're finding the calories too low try lowering your weightloss and then increase it when you are used to the slightly lower rather than drastically lower calories?

cinnamongreyhound · 11/05/2012 09:57

now 10st 12 not not 10st 12!!

ViviPru · 11/05/2012 10:55

I don't really have a weekly weightloss goal as I don't have weighing scales at home. If I did I wouldn't be able to resist not getting on the more than once a week. Instead I plan to weigh myself when I go to my Mum's, the frequency of which will vary. I've only just started this though and your post has made me realise I probably need to be a bit more focussed with it.

Thing is, I'm finding 1390 calories really manageable, and was going along in an ignorant bubble thinking that any exercise defect would be a good thing, until I weighed myself and was heavier than I'd hoped. So when I looked into it, I found that being so far in defect 3 times a week might actually be impeding weightloss... Its a minefield!

I might just be panicking as The last time I was weighed just before Christmas I was 11st 9, so when I started MFP in April I just guessed that Christmas indulgence had put me up to about 12st 7. I weighed myself at my Mum's last week for the first time since that pre-Christmas weigh in (but after a month of exercise and consuming around 1390 cals) and was 12st 8! So a bit demoralised Sad

Niceupthedance · 11/05/2012 13:08

Hello everyone, I would like to sign up please! Started MFP last year, lasted about four days (errr) but I have a date at the end of this month with my 'one who got away' and I don't want to look like a massive lard arse as he is now a long-distance runner and very health conscious.

I'm about 12st 2lbs and 5' 7. I have a 16mo DC, before pregnancy I lost nearly 3 stone but have put it all back on. Disaster! (and too many biscuits).

Please add me on MFP, I don't really know what I'm doing on there yet - my name is SWpanda.

ViviPru · 11/05/2012 14:10

Added you panda :)

RGPargy · 11/05/2012 14:56

Hi everyone!! Bookmarking yet again!! Sorry i am not posting much in here lately - the time just seems to fly by and before I know it, DP is nagging me to go to bed (for sleep, before you get any funny ideas! Wink).

Anyway, hello to the newbies! :o Feel free to add me (same name as here) to MFP, where i am considerably more active than here!

Hope everyone has a fab weekend! :o

MonsterBookOfTysons · 11/05/2012 15:30

RGPargy, it is all exercise Wink

Newbies feel free to add me, same name as on here :)

cinnamongreyhound · 11/05/2012 19:45

I mean what was your goal to give you 1390 calories ViviPru? I think you need to forget what weight you might have been and start a fresh with weighing and perhaps measuring too, sounds like you've been doing great so don't get disheartened! I weigh myself every day and I think a lot of others do so don't feel guilty about being tempted to do that :)

Welcome niceupthedance!

I said to dh a few weeks ago that lots of people post cleaning but having seen anyone posting their bedtime activities MonsterBookOfTysons, guess its just not the done thing Wink.

Had to rush out tonight, had very quick tea very early for me and I'm sure I'll be hungry soon. Also only had 1050 calories and at someone else's house so not sure what I can find to eat :(

Wifezilla · 11/05/2012 22:11

Hi everyone! I've found my way back - was here last year but kind of gave up after a really long plateau where I just couldn't shift any weight. I then trained for a marathon which involved a lot of eating so I didn't bother with mfp.

So now I have no further excuses - no breastfeeding, no marathon and around a stone to lose!

I've just started Insanity (did I see someone else doing it?) - I did it last year and felt great. Have finished day 3 tonight, but also want to keep up with running and other types of exercise. My diet is always my biggest issue as I could just graze all day...

Lots of new people since I was here last - I'm sloth45 on mfp if anyone wants to add. Those who I'm already friends with seem to have lost amazing amounts of weight - very inspiring!

RGPargy · 11/05/2012 22:38

Welcome back Wifezilla/Sloth! Woop woop!! How did you find the marathon? I cant even do 5k! I am doing the Race for Life in June but i am very happy to call it the Walk for Life as i really dont have time to train for running, plus i absolutely hate it (probably because its sooo hard!).

Wifezilla · 11/05/2012 22:50

Hi RGPargy! Great to see you're still exercising like crazy ;0). You'll do 5k by June - running get more enjoyable as you train as it gets so much easier. I'm not surprised you have no time to run though!

I'm so glad the marathon is over - it took up so much time to train, and the day itself was just long and painful. I had a virus 2 weeks before and didn't run much, just ate loads! I actually felt much fitter last year when I did insanity, so I'm aiming for that feeling again. I just need to stop eating so much!

Hopefully · 12/05/2012 09:44

Wifezilla I've added you on MFP - I'm doing Insanity too!

Or I will be trying to, since my shin pain has gone today. Spoke to physio friend last night and she has prescribed new trainers (old cross trainers are a decade old and have done an awful lot of running on them, so they're basically useless Blush), an exercise mat and icing after workouts (assuming that leg isn't painful during workout, in which case I am under strict orders to STOP and REST).

Have finally lost a whopping 0.8lb! This is exciting for me, since I have been on a plateau since late March. Hope it stays off, otherwise I will feel v cheated.

CJCregg · 12/05/2012 09:52

Please can I join up?

I started MFP two weeks ago but crashed and burned last weekend as it was DS's birthday and I ate loads of CAKE Blush. Need to get back on the wagon - foodwise and fitnesswise - but really struggle with motivation. I can't fit into any of my clothes and feel miserable Sad.

I struggle with the calorie counting - is there an easier way, or any shortcuts? I used to do quite well with WW but the points system has changed and I'm too skint to sign up with them again.

Also, what is Insanity? (Apart from my daily existence Grin)

MonsterBookOfTysons · 12/05/2012 10:41

Well done Hopefully! :)
Hi CJ, Insanity is a fitness dvd which is meant to get quite good results. :)

I have put over a lb on again, I have eaten under my calories every day, even mc donalds day :o
I really do believe it is muscle as my tummy and butt seem quite firm.
Also does anyone know if you retain more water if you are poorly? I have a horrible cold and had 2 migraines which equal me vomiting and have felt like I am larger ever since even before putting the extra lb back on.

twinkle183 · 12/05/2012 16:32

Hello ladies...

Welcome to all the newbies I am twinkletoe_183 on mfp if anyone would like to add me??

wifezilla/sloth45 welcome back I am doing Insanity with Hopefully and am loving it.. Have lost an inch of my hips, thighs and waist in two weeks! I had to start again cos I had 6 days off due to a bad back and am elated to be back to full fitness! Hopefully I am glad that your shins are better, my fingers are crossed that it stays like that!!! Smile

Just thought I would pop in am much more active on mfp...

Keep going ladies!! Xx Grin

twinkle183 · 12/05/2012 16:34

Monster I think you do retain so drink as much as you can to flush the illness out!! Water retention as definately make a difference on the scales but don't be too deflated as that pound is easily reversible!! You can do it... Smile
