Hello! I'm on my 3rd day of MFP and slightly obsessed with scanning barcodes or everything I'm eating (or considering eating) and logging it all in my diary. I have, ooh, about 4 stone to lose and have shed about 2lbs already, though I appreciate that probably isn't meaningful weightloss in three days.

I'm shocked at the amount of calories in some foods though - tortilla wraps being one of them - about 200 calories a wrap, WTF! I used to scoff those when I got home from work as a light snack, thinking they were fairly healthy with nothing on. Oops. Blush

I did manage to resist flapjacks reduced to 10p in Waitrose yesterday after scanning them and discovering they were 500 calories per 100g. (Yes I could just read the packet but I'm enjoying scanning Grin).

MackerelOfFact · 08/05/2012 07:23

I am also armed with brand new electronic scales and a new cross trainer. I was excited to see how many calories roller blading burns off, I might have to dig out my skates and find somewhere flat nearby for a session. I'm not really much of an exerciser but do enjoying swimming, walking, skating (not that I've done it for ages) and dancing (ditto). Might consider running too.

Anyway, that's me. :)

Hi Mackarel (fab name!!)

I have only been on mfp for about a month, have lost 13lbs but need to lose a staggering 5 stones minimum so will be here for the foreseeable future...

Feel free to add me on mfp, my username there is petd

Must dig out my mobile and begin scanning, have labouriously read packets up until now (and then working out the old "if 100grams is X what would 75grams be" Grin

Hopefully · 08/05/2012 10:22

Morning! Have just added a bunch of people on MFP, if anyone wants to add me whose name I haven't spotted on here, my username is IslayBower.

Day 6 of Insanity yesterday, I really felt knackered, definitely knew it was my sixth day in a row! Enjoying my rest day today, although not enjoying having fewer calories to eat - will have to go out for a bit of a walk later to earn some for dinner at current rate of progress.

Have also got v minor sinus infection thing - don't feel ill, but have huge pressure feeling across my face and neck, and every time I bend forward my nose streams . At least it's my rest day, hopefully my face will have deflated a bit by tomorrow Hmm

Am still stuck in plateau hell, but my HRM has literally just this moment arrived, so I'll be able to work out calories burned a bit more effectively now, I hope, and get back on track.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/05/2012 13:52

Afternoon all. Thanks to all that have added me in MFP. It's good to have people watching, helps keep me motivated.

On track so far today, and going for a run later so hopefully will come in under calories today.

Am STARVING though. Must remember that hunger is a positive thing :-)

RGPargy · 08/05/2012 14:08

Hi everyone. Just bookmarking. Had lost you all!! BlushBlush

HipHopOpotomus · 08/05/2012 17:08

hello - I didn't log over the weekend. basically lived on cake and wine anyway! Back to it today. Lost half a kilo which I am very happy with considering the weekend I've had.

Hello newbies - please feel free to add me on MFP - I am HipHopOpotomus2

MonsterBookOfTysons · 08/05/2012 17:16

I went jeans shopping today.
Never bought any but tried loads on. Size 10 fits me in any shop but didn't exactly look flattering, still have 18 lbs to go so hopefully will look good in a 10 at goal weight. I am just shocked I could get them over my thighs, I have not fit into a 10 since i was 16. :o

sparkleshine · 08/05/2012 17:37

Hi all
Well my bank holiday weekend diet has been rubbish, hen party on Sat, BBQ on Sun and I don't think eating a full large tub of sweet popcorn at the Odeon helps any Blush
So angry at myself. Really want to lose another lb to get to 5 stone loss. Hopefully I can do it this week. Gym tonight.

Welcome to MFP Mackarel. It's very addictive.
Well done Monster for getting to a 10 :)

Fell free to add me anyone. Sparklemummy on MFP :)

HipHopOpotomus · 08/05/2012 17:53

Monster that is really BRILLIANT!!!

MonsterBookOfTysons · 08/05/2012 18:18

Thanks, I am currently going through the stage whereas I think I look the same as I did when I started which is mentally frustrating.
Sparkle have fun at the gym :).

cinnamongreyhound · 08/05/2012 21:10

HipHopOpotomus well done on your loss but glad you had a good weekend too :)

Well done MonsterBookOfTysons!!!!!! I know exactly how you feel about not feeling you look any different! I know I must as I am 2 clothe sizes and 4st smaller. I think a 10 will look better in much less than 18lbs! What is your target if you don't mind me asking?

MonsterBookOfTysons · 08/05/2012 21:24

130lbs- 9st 4lbs. I am 5ft 6in.
I do not want to look too skinny though so will possibly stop when I am comfortable in a size 10 and there is no muffin top :o
I did try on a couple of 8's today too, I could not get them over my thighs and I honestly do not think I have the bone structure to fit in them :o

cinnamongreyhound · 08/05/2012 21:51

That does sound on the low side, I'm 5ft 5 and am thinking 10st would be nice but my initial goal is 10st 10 to get into normal bmi range. I was 9st 7 at my lightest when I was 17 and looking back I was very thin!

MonsterBookOfTysons · 08/05/2012 22:09

This is it, I do not think I will know what weight to stop at till I am there IYKWIM.
I was a very skinny/boney teenager and do not want to look like that again, it did NOT suit me! :o

BehindLockNumberNine · 08/05/2012 22:25

Wow, am envious of your goal weights... I am 6ft 1 and big boned, my goal weight is 15 stones or so... I fear I will always be a giant...
I looked good at 12st but that was in my teenage years. I do not expect to end up back there again sadly.

RGPargy · 08/05/2012 22:28

Hellloooooooo!!!! Good grief!! dont think i have posted on here for about 3 weeks!! Shock That doesn't mean to say i've not been posting on MFP tho - I am always posting on there! If you haven't already, please feel free to add me on MFP - same name as here.

So, in brief, what's been gwarnin' in here?? :o

I am trying to up my cardio now - spending even MORE time at bloomin' Virgin Active! Still, i do love it there but i think that i need to do more cardio to get better results. Hmm

RGPargy · 08/05/2012 22:32

Monster - i am also 5ft 6ins but dont think 9st odd would suit me. The lowest i have been in my adult life is around 10st 7lb but my friend said i looked ill - might have had something to do with the slimming pills i was downing at the time tho (this was about 20 years ago!). Hmm I think i will be happy at around 11 stone. That is my end goal, anyway!

MonsterBookOfTysons · 08/05/2012 22:35

RGPargy, I am at 10st 8.4lbs atm and am not happy yet, tis my back fat and thighs that need more 'care' :o
I also need to tone up a lot more too Hmm :)

Hopefully · 09/05/2012 07:31

I am 10st 1lb (although apparently I am 10st 3lb according to the scales today and yesterday Hmm) at 5'6", and I feel like I have a way to go yet. I suspect I'd like to lose at least another 5lb, possibly a bit more, but it all depends on how I look and whether my face gets a bit thin. I've been down to a little over 9st before (post break-up with awful uni boyfriend!), and it was probably a bit thin for my frame really.

Am feeling very de-motivated by being 10st 3lb for three days on the trot, after all the effort of week 1 of Insanity (I was 10st 1.5lb last week). I know my calories aren't super low (am only set to a 0.5lb/week loss on MFP), but didn't think I was eating enough to gain. And it's not like AF is due or anything. It's put me in a bad mood for the day. Grrr. Think I need to be strict and resist weighing for a few days.

twinkle183 · 09/05/2012 08:48

Heelloo ladies... I am back and pain free and ready to burn those calories... Grin Shall restart Insanity later...

Hopefully don't get demotivated because of the scales remember that you have probably started building muscle that shall start burning the fat that your storing.. I had the same problem as you and then I loss 4 pounds in one week! Make sure your drinking at least 2-3 litres of water a day! It will help flush out the lactic acid that your body creates when exercising! Protein shakes help too as they repair your muscles after a good workout! Gonna start Insanity from the beginning as I really want to see what results I achieve after the 60days Wink

itsallgoingtobeokay Your starving feeling might be dehydration try and drink some water and see if that makes a difference?

Thanks for all the lovely messages about my back over mfp! It really help me keep going and encouraged me not to reach for food! Smile I was really Envy of all you lot exercising but you were all right about having a rest and allowing it to sort itself out!

So going to get stuck in again this morning!! Wish me luck

P.s fab job ladies keep going...

Hopefully · 09/05/2012 12:10

Twinkle thanks for the motivation/advice. Am going to majorly up the water for a few days (am probably scarcely managing 6-8 cups a day, which probably isn't enough with running and insanity) and have a protein drive - I hardly ever make it over about 20% protein and I should really be shooing for more like 30%.

OneTwoOrThree · 09/05/2012 12:27

GrinGrinGrinGrin 3lb loss this week GrinGrinGrinGrin

Sorry to gloat Blush, but I wasn't expecting that at all. Would have been happy losing 1lb.

(someone remind me of this when I dont lose next week!)

MackerelOfFact · 09/05/2012 12:52

Hello, thank you for the welcomes! I managed to come in a massive 550 under my calorie recommendation yesterday without even trying - had a massive (and delicious) dinner and snacks and all sorts. Wondering if I should up my intended weight loss to 1lb a week instead of half a lb. But that would mean I'm only needing just over 1200 cals a day, and I'm wary of straying into starvation mode territory. I'd rather eat more and lose slowly than eat less and lose nothing. I'll build up to it gradually I think?

Inspiring to read posts from you guys who have been doing MFP a while. I hope my interest doesn't wane after a couple of weeks.

CrunchyFrog · 09/05/2012 15:37

Hello, have just downloaded the app a couple of days ago, used it a couple of years ago with good results but gave up after a month or so. Since then I've lost most of my excess weight without any tools, but I am planning to use this to shift the last stone.

Doing daily weighs, Wii Zumba and Wii Fit plus fast walking a couple of times a day.

Started at 224lb (16 stone) in January 2011, am now 147lb (10 stone 7) but have been this weight since about October! Aiming for 9 stone 7.

My user name is nacmacfeegle if anyone wants to add me?
