hi, well done!

ok i am converted, bought the Total greek yog, it's on offer in Tesco.

LUSH!

NCIS · 18/04/2012 14:06

I use the total yoghurt on jacket potatoes and with tuna instead of mayonaise. It's nice stirred into homemade vegetable soup too.

piratecat · 18/04/2012 14:10

good idea.

tho i haven't been able to have a potato for months as mfp seems to see them as the work of satan calorie wise. no matter how i turn it on my electronic scales even a smallish one weighs a ton.

must say, the scales have been the best investment ever for this plan.

realhousewifeofdevoncounty · 18/04/2012 14:13

Just checking in! Been doing mfp for a while now, but not much off as I'm not sticking to it very well! Exercising lots and generally can eat within my allowance, but there have been lots if occasions with food/wine involved! Hungover today in fact, so totally off track, but getting back on it tomorrow Grin

bexsybooboo · 18/04/2012 21:56

Am weighing a day early so fingers crossed for tomorrow Blush

Have had a steady week food wise but pushed myself to hard at body pump Monday evening and am suffering in my arms for it now do have been unable to get to gym even just to swim Sad so not a happy bunny this week.

This also means I am not feeling confident for tomorrow WI.

Well done to all newbies taken the plunge to MFP it is fab Grin and well done for the weight losses logged this week definitely inspires us all on the thread Smile

MonsterBookOfTysons · 18/04/2012 22:09

OWWW my hand really hurts Hmm
The bone in my left hand is really hurting! I can't lift my weights :(
I am feeling better today, I have cleaned and had special time with dd which I can use as exercise, brilliant :o
May get up early and go swimming if my hand feels better :)

BehindLockNumberNine · 19/04/2012 07:35

I am seriously impressed with the serious exercise you are all doing! How do you find the motivation time?
With a job, two children, a house and a dog I just find that I can't squeeze anything in.
Would love to swim but our local pool is very expensive at peak times and very very busy.
The gym is out of my price range.
So I walk the dog as much as I can and try to get out on my bike at least once at the weekend even if it is only a short trip.
I hope that is enough for now. [fingers crossed]

Bexsy, good luck with the weigh-in today.

cinnamongreyhound · 19/04/2012 07:57

That's why I did the c25k BehindLockNumberNine, I am exercising the moment I get out of the front door, it's free and I can fit it around my job and kids. If you're interested check out our thread there are lots of new people joining and all have different commitments and run at all different times.

RGPargy · 19/04/2012 08:04

Hello! Just checking in ! Grin

BettyBathroom · 19/04/2012 10:37

Completely agree with Cinnamon on the C25K - it fab, it's free and you don't have to travel to exercise or pay entry fees. I can burn 300 calories in 30 mins running and only 100 in 30 minutes walking - it's a no brainer! It will make you feel great too - all those endorphins racing around your body.

Good pair of shoes, good bra and you're good to go - no excuses!

OhThisIsJustGrape · 19/04/2012 10:40

Hi all, I'm a newbie :)

Started low-carbing last wednesday but felt so ill that I had to stop by Monday . Decided to begin using MFP and have to say I'm very impressed with it.

I've lost 7lbs in 8 days which I'm delighted with and find that even though I've reintroduced the carbs I'm still eating waaaay less of them than before so that's a good thing me thinks.

I'm rubbish at exercise though Blush I love 30 day shred but it just wrecks my body every time I do more than a couple of weeks on it (did manage to get to L3 though). My knees are dodgy and even wearing supports they just can't cope. Haven't done it since last summer though so may give it another shot. I do run round after my 2 preschoolers all day (plus 2 teenagers) so I'm hoping that goes a little way towards some sort of exercise? Can anyone recommend a good DVD that specifically targets abdominal area? Something I can lay on my back and do lots of crunches etc? I need it to be low impact to save my knees but my stomach really needs toning.

I only have another 7lbs to lose so hopefully will be at target in a few weeks. I know the last 7 will take longer to come off than the first.

One burning question I have though is regarding cups of tea. I'm logging it as PG Tips with semi-skimmed milk but it's saying they each have 4g of sugar in! I have 2 cups a day and so those 8g leave me in the negative for my sugar allowance. Anyone found a way round this? Surely there's not that much sugar in milk?

MonsterBookOfTysons · 19/04/2012 11:06

My cup of tea is 14 cals with skimmed milk and 2 sweeteners. I don't believe it is sugary.
Hi btw :)
I keep meaning to start the c25k but seem to forget. I only have spare time in the morning between 8.45 and 9.30 as on dh day off I go swimming but I would like the days that I can't go swimming to go running as I think my thighs need all tha help.the can get :o

BehindLockNumberNine · 19/04/2012 12:35

Arf, my c25K will have to wait a while... I am 5 stones overweight with massive breasts and very weak hips and knees...

Perhaps when I am a few stone lighter I can think about running.... For now I think I would do myself an injury Sad

MonsterBookOfTysons · 19/04/2012 14:53

Behind why don't you try faster walking? Then when you do feel ready for c25k you will find it easier :)

I have just eaten a ham salad sandwich, it was Heaven! :o

BehindLockNumberNine · 19/04/2012 15:49

I try Monster, I have been trying to walk faster along some parts of the walk (depending on how fast doggle wants to go), so yes, I do end up doing some sort of bizarre speedwalk for some of it and end up out of breath... Smile

OneTwoOrThree · 19/04/2012 15:53

Betty - only 100 cals from 30mins walking?? Is that right?

I have been using the nike+ app which gave me 515 cals for an 80min walk. Hmm

That doesn't add up, does it?

BehindLockNumberNine · 19/04/2012 16:14

I get 101 calories from 15 minutes of 'walking the dog' according to MFP. Someone said it varied from person to person as a heavier set person uses more energy/effort/calories to walk...?

cinnamongreyhound · 19/04/2012 16:24

BehindLockNumberNine A lot of the ladies on the thread are overweight, that's why they are running. I agree with MonsterBookOfTysons that if you can find a spare 30 mins a few times a week, walking would be a good start and burn a few extra calories :)

OhThisIsJustGrape My tea is 20cals with semi skimmed milk but not paid attention to the sugar content, I don't add any sugar.

cinnamongreyhound · 19/04/2012 16:28

Sorry missed those few posts! I get 118 cals from 30 mins walking dog (3mph).

BettyBathroom · 19/04/2012 16:58

The amount of calories you burn is dependant on your weight and how fast you walk. Also GPS trackers can go a little wrong if the signal isn't that strong - they've sometimes given me reading for walking that have been higher than my runs which is clearly wrong.

In general I always take the lowest value that way you know it hasn't been over estimated. I would burn 150kcal in 30min for a fast walk.

piratecat · 19/04/2012 17:23

hey ladies you never guess what. i lost nothing for 3 weeks, then i lost that lb I told you about when i weighed on monday, and i got on the scales earlier today and another 2lb have gone. Shock

am under 11 stone for the first time in 6 yrs.

triple Shock because it's been so slow, 2 lbs in about 5 weeks and now 3 lbs in one.

I have been drinking water, i think it's helped. someone had suggested if i might be dehyrated. So i am keeping a mug by the sink and each time o got to the sink, i force a few gulps down!! It's surprising how many times you go to the sink in a day tbh!!

MonsterBookOfTysons · 19/04/2012 18:56

Congrats Pirate!!! :)
Pirate I am getting Confused Are we friends on mfp?

I would burn 115 cals for a 3mph walk. I am 153 lbs :)

MonsterBookOfTysons · 19/04/2012 18:57

Oh and pirate, after reading your post I drank a pint of water :o
I am awful at drinking enough water.
