May I join in? Last fall I lost about 30 lb by using MFP and some of my own 'strategies', but then I fell off the wagon and put more or less all of it back on. Now starting over again!

Dillie · 16/04/2012 20:55

Sneaking in! Back from holiday and a gain of 4 pounds :(

Finding healthy food in Cornwall with pasties, sausage rolls and everything with chips proved impossible!

(well that's my excuse anyway!)

Back to it! On my last half a stone :)

cinnamongreyhound · 16/04/2012 21:03

I am just keeping to calorie counting BabsJansen, mostly by reducing portions and not binging on junk food every evening! I think it's also about making more sensible and often more informed choices and for me it's about not cutting out anything as I couldn't see this as a long term eating plan if I couldn't have treats. Mfp is an easy way to count calories and keep track of what you're eating. I have lost 23Kg since 10th nov and joined mfp in jan after seeing ladies talking about it on my c25k thread.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 16/04/2012 21:15

I am calorie counting and moving more.
I could still eat better but like what I eat and am in no rush to lose the weight, 21 more lbs to go and have till august 26th to do it :o

piratecat · 16/04/2012 21:22

god don't mention pasties!!!! Wink i live in Devon, and am surrounded by the buggers, plus scones, clotted cream and the rest!

babs the nutritional info is sometimes very poor and provides calorific value only. Sometimes the entries are made by forum users and they are somewhat optimistic - the scanning function for bar codes works well though. I just don't think the info is detailed or accurate enough to take the nutritional analysis of your diet too seriously so as to suggest a deficiency.

I wish MFP totalled up your fruit & vege portions - Weight Loss Resources is much better, but you have to pay. They do maintain the data well at WLR.

Yesterday we had cake at work as it was a colleagues birthday - I used up all my remaining calories on cake. So I went to bed early (9pm), without dinner and read my book. Not having dinner wasn't an issue as I wasn't hungry and had enough food during the day. I enjoyed the early night :)

I'm out tonight - annual industry Pop Quiz. I foresee too much red wine and some of those wee mini burgers being served waaaaay to late ............... but I will endeavour to log log log!

OneTwoOrThree · 17/04/2012 15:40

Day 7 for me (although I really only started halfway through day one - after a chocolate binge for breakfast Blush). I weighed this morning and have lost 3lb, but haven't updated this here yet.

I am trying to decide how often to weigh, and how often to track my weight. I know that I fluctuate daily so will probably track once (or at most, twice) a week. What do you all do?

I will update my weight here tomorrow, which will be a week on from my starting point. Fingers crossed it's 3lb (or more).

So far, I'm not finding this too difficult (helped by the extra 500 calories for breastfeeding - a huge amount extra), but know that the longer I 'diet' the harder it is to be motivated. I can't get much exercising done with a 3 year old and a newborn, but am trying to get out for a brisk walk with the pram on the days the 3 year old is at nursery. Once the baby is a bit older, I might be able to get out for a jog in the evening.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 17/04/2012 17:30

Arghh I have put 2 lbs back on, I hate it when it fluctuates, it is so disheartening! :(
I am having a great exercise day today and eating well if I ignore how many calories are in a woo woo cocktail Blush

BehindLockNumberNine · 17/04/2012 17:50

One, I weigh once a week and log it on that same day...

Monster , how disheartening to see a gain.... That is always how I end up giving up...

MonsterBookOfTysons · 17/04/2012 18:58

Behind I am telling myself it is water and muscle weight as I have been doing a lot more weight lifting. I like pretending to myself :o

cinnamongreyhound · 17/04/2012 19:21

OneTwoOrThree I weigh myself every day I can't resist. I know at certain times of the month I gain a couple of 100g which I don't log, only log losses and leave it otherwise.

That's rubbish MonsterBookofTysons, especially when you feel you've been doing well. Next time will be a big loss :)

piratecat · 17/04/2012 19:55

monster, it's a pita isn't it. where are you in your cycle?

OneTwoOrThree · 17/04/2012 20:01

Cinnamon - I also weigh every day. I can't help myself. I still feel like I should have an official weighing day though.

I think I will log my weight on Wednesdays only (for no reason other than I started this diet on a Wednesday). Bring on tomorrow Grin

MonsterBookOfTysons · 17/04/2012 21:45

Pirate I am mid cycle, could it be that I may be ovulating? Does that put weight on?

cinnamongreyhound · 17/04/2012 22:16

I generally don't lose the week I'm ovulating or the week I have my period, really annoying when I'm still doing the right things!!!

piratecat · 18/04/2012 10:29

well given my history of not losing for 3 weeks at ALL i am prob not best placed to advise. Yet having been doing this for 3 months, i do remember not losing on ovulation week, and before period week.

The best results for me seem to be about 3-4 days after end of period.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 18/04/2012 10:45

Thanks for making me feel better :)
I am going to ignore the scales for a while I think :o

piratecat · 18/04/2012 10:47

no prob, it's so tempting to get on there. i hadn't lost for 3 weeks, got on the scales, i htink it was sunday and had put on a bloody lb.

By monday i had lost that one and my extra.

I shall never forget the pound that pissed me about, before i got to 11 stone!!

MonsterBookOfTysons · 18/04/2012 10:53

:o Pirate! That 11 st marker was a pain for me too. It just didn't want to say 10st something on the scales :o

piratecat · 18/04/2012 12:28

i should start taking bets on when my body will comply to become 10st 13!!!

It's been slow, but you know what i have been doing it 13 weeks now, and lost 12lb. That is absolutely amazing when i think about it. I haven't stuck to trying to do anything for myself since losing weight for my wedding in 97.

If i get to 10st 2 it will be that weight!!

OneTwoOrThree · 18/04/2012 12:55

First week completed, and I've lost 3.5lbs. Yippeee! If only I could lose this much every week.... Aiming to lose 3.5lbs over the next two weeks, which will take me back to pre-baby weight (for baby number 2, I've a lot further to go to get back to pre-baby number 1 weight)... :)

NCIS · 18/04/2012 13:10

I have just started using MFP, I'm 12 stone and 5 foot 6, I want to lose 2 stone.
I'm finding it ok atm, after each meal I'm drinking a huge cup of green tea with lemon and find that this stops me eating whilst my body registers its already had food iyswim.
