Hello everyone! And welcome back Shaxx, I am well impressed with your maintaining!

Well, I had to take DS to a & e last night, but it was only because the GP never rung me back after being instructed to do so by NHS Direct. Angry The thing is, I know what he needs- A dose of steroids- So I can just walk into casualty, tell the doctor what he needs, get it and go home. He'll be fine by tomorrow. He's watching Moonwalker as I type, and dancing faaaar better than his mother could... :o
I bought him some donuts for being so good at the hospital and didn't nick any for myself. Smarties donuts. The smell was amaaaaaazing...

So, today will be veg with a bit of bread for lunch, and veg soup for dinner. Am going to look for a low-cal cake recipe to make DS2's birthday cake for Thursday... I was going to make some party food too, but as DS2's fave food is pasta, he's probably enjoy that a whole lot more.

thedogwalker · 27/09/2011 10:26

Oh Belle hope your DS feels better soon and that you are ok, can be quite stressful in a&e. And well done again for resisting the temptation of donuts, wow you are being so good, another saint badge for you Grin.

thedogwalker · 27/09/2011 10:27

oh just noticed the new sign Thanks. Good isn't it.

dinkystinky · 27/09/2011 11:26

Hope DS is feeling better today Belle and the Steroids work their magic. How old is your DS2 going to be on Thursday? Welcome back Shaxx - lovely to see you on and hope all good with you.

Knotty - enjoy the shopping.

BelleEnd · 27/09/2011 12:34

Thank you for the second saint badge of the week TDW- I'm going to need bigger lapels :o
DS1 is getting better already, these steroids are miraculous. He's been moaning about his evil mother making him write a nice letter to his auntie, and nagging that he wants to write to Santa! Yes, he really is getting better... :o

dinky DS2 is two on Thursday. Don't know where the time went...It feels like I only just gave birth to him! We're going to the Blue Planet Aquarium on Saturday, which I am very very excited about... Far more than the children, actually, but hey ho...

dinkystinky · 27/09/2011 13:33

That sounds lovely BelleEnd. I dont know about your DS2 but my DS2 (who is also 2) is actually an enormous fan of cupcakes - could you make a cupcake caterpillar for his birthday and get the boys to help with the icing? That way it can be as big or as little as you like - and th eportions are pre-ordained...

BelleEnd · 27/09/2011 13:55

That's an excellent idea, thank you! I could nick a recipe from that Gizzi Erskine woman...

knottyhair · 27/09/2011 14:06

Belle, glad DS1 is OK now - sounds very scary, and sorry but what a twat of a GP! Can't believe he didn't call back. And I'm very impressed at your will power - may I just ask you to bow your head a little.... there you go, a big gold medal, otherwise your lapels will be dangling in your food. And on the subject of cake, I made this for DS last year (I just left out the coffee). Just a suggestion.
TDW, normally I'd feel the same about shopping but it went OK today. Managed to get some shorts-style bottoms in a sports shop but couldn't find any jeans in any of the charidee shops. Luckily DP rang me whilst I was out, and after I'd had a moan, he said "I'll treat ya, sweedart" (or something like that Grin). So I got some in Next - shockingly I bought skinny jeans for the first time ever, and in a Size 10!! I nearly fainted with shock when they fitted. I've never bought size 10 jeans before. I'm wearing them now even though it's very hot out, just because I can Grin.

The cupcake idea is a fantastic one Dinky I will remember that for DS's 2nd birthday next year (only 11 months away) and the choc cake looks to die for Knotty, Mmmm making me drool. and wow Knotty size 10 jeans, that's amazing, how does it feel to be strutting around in them and lets face it, in a size 10, you need to be strutting girl Wink

BelleEnd · 27/09/2011 15:49

Size 10 knotty!!!!!! That is fantastic! Well done! And Next don't do their sizes bigger either, so you really are a 10. And thanks for that cake recipe, that is very low cal for a chocolate cake. Was it as tasty as a normal one? Is it weird with yogurt?

Shaxx · 27/09/2011 18:48

Thanks for the welcome back Smile

Knotty well done on size 10 skinnies!! Wow! Bet you look really good too.

Belle glad ds is feeling better.

That cake does look good!

I'm actually not bad at maintaining my weight. Apart from the baby weight, I've never had an issue with weight before. If my jeans start to feel a bit tight, I just cut back for a few days til they're comfy again. It's the cutting back for weeks on end that I have problems with. Thats why I can't seem to shift more than 5lbs.

I've got pmt today so its been a very carby day.

BelleEnd · 27/09/2011 20:19

I've gone a bit carby too recently Shaxx, because I find that I eat a lot less overall if I do have bread. But I do bloat with it, so maybe it's not worth it. And it's sooooooo delicious!

LadyBuzz · 27/09/2011 20:49

knotty well done you, thats fab! Enjoy wearing them!

Welcome back shaxx

belle hope DS is on the mend now.

We are all choc full of cold here, and DH is feeling very sorry for himself because he had the snip last week! bless him.

I have managed to be relatively good food wise but haven't managed the gym from being so bunged up, I will walk to toddlers in the morning though so that should help.

Back to work on monday [scared]

dinkystinky · 27/09/2011 21:08

Knotty whoop whoop on the 10s! Lady buzz - hope everyone feels better soon and DH recovers from the snip soon.

Shaxx · 28/09/2011 09:22

Lady why are you scared about going back to work? Sorry you have an unwell family! wishing you all a speedy recovery.

Its a lovely day today. I'm going to try to get to the park this am.

knottyhair · 28/09/2011 10:07

Morning! Belle, to be honest, I can't remember the cake that well! I do remember DS and his mates polishing it off pretty quickly, and that I didn't get it to rise very well but no one seemed to mind Blush. I think the icing was "OK" with the yoghurt, but I've just rather anally calculated that if you use double cream instead, it adds about 50 cals per slice, so still doable possibly? Whatever you decide, hope he has a fab day anyway Smile! Lady, hope all your colds are getting better - good idea to lay off the exercise with a cold. Hope your DH is feeling less "delicate" as well. Good luck for Monday! Shaxx, enjoy the park.

It's beautiful here as well, already getting hot, especially as I've just puffed through 4 circuits of BFBM. Got some soup to use up for lunch (not really soup weather but never mind!). Pork steaks with new potatoes & braised red cabbage for dinner. Hope you all get some sunshine x

Welcome back Shaxx.

Whoop, whoop Knotty - twirl away in those size 10s.

Sympathies to those with poorly dh's - sometimes I'd rather be ill myself than put up with man flu Wink

Ladybuzz - does going back to work mean it is the new job you told us about? I officially start my new job on Monday but have been in for a few hours today and yesterday to learn the ropes. It is all very daunting but I'm hoping the nervous energy will lead to weight loss this week.

LadyBuzz · 28/09/2011 14:37

Shaxx and JAM I am starting my brand new job on Monday hence why I am a little nervous, we can virtually hold each others hands JAM!
I'm looking forward to it but it is definately going to be harder then what I was doing (not that that would be difficult).

DH gone back to work today so it is very peaceful - does anyone else find the house is tidier in general when their other halfs are not in through the day or is it just me?

knottyhair · 28/09/2011 14:45

JAM, good luck to you for Monday as well! How's it been so far? LadyBuzz, what is your new job? Apologies if you've already said on here Blush. I know what you mean about the house being tidier. When DP is here, he just treads all sorts of stuff through (he is a carpenter & currently building an extension for my friend so I suppose I ought to let him off!). Also the crumbs when he eats! He makes more mess than DS! If I've been out, I know if he's popped back for a cup of tea or something, because the kitchen looks like a poltergeist has visited.

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 28/09/2011 16:25

Ooooh goodness me, you're all onto new jobs here! I'm sure you'll all be ace.

I've decided to go for http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/10036/the-ultimate-makeover-chocolate-brownies these instead of a traditional cake- They look like something DS2 (and the rest of us!) will enjoy, and I can stick his name on the top with jelly tots. They look a bit weird what with the mayo, but the reviews are brilliant, so I'm going to have a go!

I wonder if this thread can pass illness from DH to DH?! Mie is upstairs now with an upset stomach. He thinks it's because he's eaten too many oranges, but I have to say I think it's a bit more- He lost a very close friend last week, a lovely woman who was too young :( and he's doing at the funeral on Friday. I wonder if it's his grief coming out physically IYKWIM.

LadyBuzz · 28/09/2011 19:16

knotty I will be a Clinical Research data Assistant which basically is the admin side of the clinical research trials in Oncology, new drugs and treatments and that sort of thing.

belle you are probably right about DH, hope Friday isn't too painful for him.

Those Brownies sound lush!

thedogwalker · 28/09/2011 19:54

Good luck toLady and JAM on the new jobs on Monday, hope everything runs smoothly. Knotty and Lady I know exaclty what you mean about DH and mess. He only comes home at the weekends and then my house looks so untidy in no time at all, I have no idea how he does it so quickly and the crumbs, it drives me insane why he cannot use a plate like the rest of us Hmm but I love him [argh, get me a sick bag emoticon]
My DS had his 13 months jabs today, then took him and DM to Bournemouth, it was such beautiful weather and lots of icre cream was had by all, well it was soooo hot. Hope everyone had a good day.

BelleEnd · 29/09/2011 09:06

Hello! Well, it's DS2's birthday, and he is very happy with his little glowing tardis from Tesco! We've already had tears of envy from his big bro, but he did apologize afterwards and admit that he was silly... "But Mam, it's so hard..." :o It's looking like a glorious day here again, so the plan is to have a little walk and picnic after school in the local forest, and I'm taking him swimming now. Might do the beach later. Yay!
Had to weigh in today as I won't be around tomorrow, it's an STS for me. I am mildly annoyed, but not overly so. Going to relax this weekend and will probably have gained by next week, but I figure I deserve it for giving birth to a 10lb2oz baby 2 years ago! :o

thedogwalker · 29/09/2011 09:33

Belle hope you have a wonderful day and that both DSs really enjoy themselves. Don't they grow up so quickly, hope you find time to sit back and watch the events and to make lots of happy memories Smile

Shaxx · 29/09/2011 11:27

Belle aaah Happy Birthday to ds2! You've got a great day for going to the beach! I wish I had one near me. Would be off like a shot after the school run. They do grow up so quickly. I can't believe I have to apply for my ds2's school place in the next couple of months.
Well done on sts.

Lady and Jam good luck for your new jobs. It must be v. exciting.

I get exactly what you mean about dh's and more mess. Mine even leaves cupboard doors and drawers open all the time. I swear if you walked into the kitchen after he's been in it, you'd be convinced there were poltergeist in there.

I've had a bad headache most of the night and all day. I think it was too much sun yesterday so have been feeling a bit rubbish.

Hope you all have a good day.
