I've had the 30 day shred for around a month. I've done three days at the start of the month and then "missed" a day and didnt pick it back up.

I have a wedding in a month and I have to shift the tummy.Plus i've recently had my hair cropped and now my face looks like a turnip.(bad dying escapade!)

Who's with me?Lets do it together and spur each other on!!

Starting tomorrow!

all the other threads are further on so I thought i's start a new one.

first day of level 2 today, only did 2/3 then dvd seems to have frozen and wouldn start again at the last circuit, so i did level 1 (full) after that.

agree with slinky b about the weather causing a different kind of sweat

my pelvic floor is improving so yeah!

i have lost 4 lbs in 11 days (shredded for 8 of those) another 14 lbs and i'm at my target. i know those proably wont come off so quickly. my new target is to be able to do a full/ set of press ups. i've never been able to do those since puberty! i can do 3 natalie style then I have to revert to Anita.

unblissfullyignorant what weights are you ordering?.
when i did shred last time round (6 months ago) i used 2 cans. this time i started with 3 kg weights which i couldnt maintain for the compound strength movments so would have to alternate with cans. now got 1 kg weights and its easier to maintain form. i have to concentrate quite hard to avoid getting into injury prone postions

love to you all

Coconutfeet · 02/08/2011 21:26

Hello all, I've been AWOL for a few days, but have been shredding some of the time. Actually I found that a couple of days rest made a big difference to my form. I felt much stronger and just seemed better at it than before. Anyway. I moved onto level 3 today. It's definitely hard but I think the jump from 1 to 2 is a bit harder. I bought 1.5 kg weights and at first I found them really difficult for some of the moves (that one in l2 where you sit back and raise the weights to eye level is a killer for me) but I think I'm getting stronger. Off on holiday in two weeks so I really need to keep it up.

Smile at the improved pelvic floor twoboots. I found those starjumps really problematic at the beginning too but am feeling a definite improvement.

Clara - Last week you were telling me about your diet. No carbs for 6 weeks is amazing! Do you find your energy levels are OK without them?

Keep it up everyone!

Ifancyanewname · 02/08/2011 22:11

Hi all, I'm on day of level one and feeling pretty good. Like you Coconutfeet I find a day off helps me really get into it the following day. Can I ask a dim question clara....when you say no refined carbs what sort of thngs have you cut out and what are you allowed to eat carbs wise?I've stopped eating bread and stopped drinking too :)

unblissfullyignorant · 03/08/2011 00:28

Hi again all. Right, even though I should be doing L3 day 2 now, because I don't have the weights yet I'm just going to do L2 today - better than nothing, right? Plus I still find it pretty intense anyway! Reading this thread before I start is helping to motivate me Smile. Yesterday I did nothing...but like Coconutfeet I feel a bit stronger after a day break - well that's what I tell myself!

Twoboots was thinking of getting 1.5kg weights - been using the big 700g soup cans, I figure if I add the weight of the tins into that then they should nearly be 1kg each...so 1.5kg shouldn't be that much of a jump...

posterofagirl · 03/08/2011 00:48

L1 D2 - sweat sweat sweat sweat.

But it must be working, right?

Clarabumps · 03/08/2011 09:55

Forgive me shredders for I have sinned..it has been 3 days since my last shred due to a wedding, and a really bad hangover! Will start again today! Gutted!

Clarabumps! Don't stress! Just shred today and tomorrow, you will be beack on track in no time Smile

Clarabumps · 03/08/2011 11:32

I fancy a new name- refined carbs are carbohydrates that have been processed. For example white bread is refined, white flour, cereals(unless its muesli or porrige). Wholewheat bread is better for you but i'd still have it in moderation. Pasta!pasta is the biggest thing I find that puts weight on me..again wholewheat pasta is better for you but just watch your portion control as I can happily eat a whole pot of pasta all to myself.White rice is another one..wholegrain rice takes ages to cook but it isn't full of starch.

It is a bit extreme giving up carbs totally and isn't for everyone but is you can limit your self to better carbs and control portion size.
I had just reached the end of my road with carbs..I was constantly starving and constantly eating to get rid of my empty feeling. When I started eating protein and salads, green veg etc my energy levels went through the roof and I actually felt when I was full and I find I can eat when I am truly hungry.
I've made a deal with myself I can have something when I'm out for dinner and I can drink socially but I was getting into the habit of picking up wine with my shopping just to have something to do on a Saturday night.
It just wasn't working for me and I felt terrible with the guilt of drinking like a fish and eating like a pig.
It is slightly more expensive as I have to buy extra meat and chicken for myself on top of the family shopping but it's better in the long run as I don't feel so terrible.
I also allow myself a bit of chocolate if i really want it but again..I was having chocolate near enough every day.
If you are curious about your food have a wee look at the Dukan book out of the library if they have it or online. It's really good even from the educational point of view that all calories don't behave the same way when they are processed in our bodies.
Sorry- this is a really long post!

L1 day 2 done. Had 2 days off shred after day 1 as my muscles were really painful! But raring to go, also running couch - 5km. Have ordered a set of weights - 1kg, 1.5kg and 2.5kg...currently using a coupl of tins which really isn't heavy enough, but think the 1kg ones will be a great starting point for me., |Keep catching glimpses of my reflection when i'm out and it's not good Blush

kid · 03/08/2011 16:19

Still waiting for my DVD to arrive. How long does each session of the shred last?

Clarabumps · 03/08/2011 18:06

20 minutes from start to finish..but stretch for an extra 5 to start with so you're not in pain!

Butyoucant · 03/08/2011 19:22

I have had the DVD sat on the shelf for a "few" months but this thread has inspired me to actually do it. So today has been Day 1! Bit shaky afterwards but chuffed I made it. Got a fair bit to lose after PND/PTSD and health problems after birth has piled it on so fingers crossed this works.

I also figure all the sweats got to be worth at least half a pound?!

kid · 03/08/2011 19:24

Yippee my DVD arrived today. I was about to do it but dh phoned and asked me to pick him up from work. I'm currently sat outside his work waiting for him, wish he'd get a move on Grin

Coconutfeet · 03/08/2011 20:59

L3 Day 2 done. I almost didn't do it because I was really tired but I'm so glad I did as I feel much better for it. I don't think my form's that great on this level yet and I keep catching glimpses of myself in the mirror while I'm doing it and it's not a pretty sight.

Clarabumps - I sometimes give up refined carbs as a way of giving myself an extra push (have just done so again this week) and I notice the difference really quickly in the way I look and feel so I can imagine how you must really see it with no carbs at all. How long are you planning on doing it for?

kid · 03/08/2011 21:38

Angry I'm still waiting to start my dvd. DH said if I picked him up from work, he would disappear upstairs for 20 minutes so I could do it. FUnny how that was forgotten once I collected him. I'll know better than to believe him next time!
I reckon I'll get to do it at 10pm, but I'm not sure I will want to then! Wonder if I can play it through my laptop upstairs instead?

MetalSian · 03/08/2011 22:27

Kid I do mine through my pc, whilst my so is busy watching tv ;P!
Keeps him busy for the half an hour if he is awake xD.

Rest day today as my whole ribcage is very sore =[.
Hopefully be better tomorrow.

posterofagirl · 03/08/2011 22:43

I laptop it too, my dog loves the sofa and hates people jumping so I'm banished upstairs Sad

L1 D3 today and felt much better. Still can't do all the first cardio without crying and resting.

Jumping jacks must be really good for you, right?

kid · 03/08/2011 23:24

Well I didn't get to start it today but I just watched it on the laptop. To save time, I watched it in fast forward lol

I go to a bootcamp exercise class once a week for 45 minutes. I've been doing that class for about 4 months but have missed the last 2 weeks. A lot of the moves on the dvd are very similar to ones we do at the class so I think I'll be okay with level 1. I don't want to scare myself with level 2 just yet. I'm not looking forward to all those jumping jacks either.

Has anyone taken a photo at the beginning of following the programme and compared it to more recent photos? Is it really as good as its advertised as being? I'll find out for myself soon enough but I wondered how others are finding it.

Clarabumps · 04/08/2011 09:28

i have a photo from ages ago will try and post it on here. I shredded last night and getting back into it wasnt as hard as expected. I stepped on the scales though and I have gained 5 lbs. I have no way gained 5lb in fat so i'm assuming its muscle..its still 5lbs though..argh!!

Clarabumps · 04/08/2011 09:31

Have just looked in my photos and they must be on my dp's phone. Will try and post them tonight.

L1 d1 complete. Omg it was hard and I'm sweating buckets!
Tell me it gets easier, I thought I was tiny but fit but now I'm not so sure. On the DVD, the women can stretch so far for the cool down, there was no way my head could reach my knee Grin

I'm glad I done it though, even if there was no sound on the tv for some reason.

Ifancyanewname · 04/08/2011 12:49

wel, i didnt shred yesterday, theday just ran away with me and once i had chance to it was 9 and i was knackered so headed off to bed for an early night. Just tried to do last day of day 1 with dd who enjoyed jumping around and only hung off me few times. Once she's ran int my weights 3 times I thought it would be best off doing it when she is asleep or once dh is back from work.
CLara, thanks for ll the info, I def need to have a look at the eating side of things, I'm not eating much during the day due to being on my own so I generally eat fruit, I'm struggling to ind something that i can grab quickly that isnt too bad for you. Do you still eat potatoes and other starchy veg? I think i could live without bread and pasta, rice id struggle with i think though!
I know exactly what you mean about drinking fo something to do, i'deven say i was veering over into alcohol addiction, I've tried to cut down so many times so have just stopped altogether, so far, so good :) DH has even had wine in the house and I've refused, I never thought that day would come!!

Ifancyanewname · 04/08/2011 12:50

forgot to say, Im going to try level 2 as i only got half way through level one this afternoon.....wish me luc fellow shredders..
Oh, and I've lost half a stone, woooo

CountBapula · 04/08/2011 12:54

Hello ... been lurking for a while but time to post because my DVD has just plopped through the letter box.

GAH!

I think I might watch it first then start tomorrow once I've unearthed my trainers and sports bra ...

SlinkyB · 04/08/2011 14:22

Hi kid ! It definitely does get easier, but I wouldn't necessarily say less sweaty! And you def need the sound on - some of JM's motivational talking is quite funny (feeling fear leaving the body or gargling your heart anyone?).

Level 2 Day 7 done this morning, but my lower back is really hurting so I took it a bit steady and did some L1 moves some of the time. Think the walk-out press-ups aren't helping my back, so am laying off the plank-type exercises for a couple of days, and doing some extra stretching/back strengthening exercises too.

Zumba tonight...I will get fit!
