I've had the 30 day shred for around a month. I've done three days at the start of the month and then "missed" a day and didnt pick it back up.

I have a wedding in a month and I have to shift the tummy.Plus i've recently had my hair cropped and now my face looks like a turnip.(bad dying escapade!)

Who's with me?Lets do it together and spur each other on!!

Starting tomorrow!

all the other threads are further on so I thought i's start a new one.

I'm feeling a lack of motivation too Metalsian. I did level 2 again today.

Well done on the dress Clara. That must keep you going!

What weights is everyone using? Also are you doing anything food-wise as well?

MetalSian · 27/07/2011 16:53

Haha I am using cans of tomatoes xD, as I don't have the money to buy weights atm.

Did use some heavier 800g cans my DP found in the cupboard yesterday but my hands got too sweaty to hold the giant cans without them slipping near the end when lifting them infront and up. =/

Hoping motivation will come back soon, getting a bit bored of Level 1 but still have another 4 days after today of it and Level 2 would probably kill me if I tried now.

Clarabumps · 27/07/2011 17:27

i think the motivation is waning for all of us but think how crap we'll feel if we quit. I don't know if I can bear sending Jillian onto the pile of dvd's I'll never look at again. For the sake of 20 minutes its worth it I suppose in order to no beat ourselves up for the rest of the day. Even if I'm having a day where I can't be arsed at least we're doing something. Its a step away from couch potato and towards feeling better about ourselves.
Coconut feet- I'm using 3lb weights and I'm watching what I eat. I was doing the Dukan diet before however now I've relaxed it a bit.
My diet consists of fish, eggs, lean meat, salad, lentils, veggies, fruit, diet drinks and fat free yoghurts.
i'm avoiding sugar where possible and haven't eaten a carb for 6 weeks. Cutting out refined carbs has really helped in my weight loss..although the other day a had three bits of pasta and my stomach was like a balloon about an hour later.
I've also stopped drinking through the week, I'm saving my treats for going out for dinner and drinking socially as opposed to the couple of bottles of Cava I would have throughout the week just to give myself something to do.
Dying for a scone and raspberry jam though.

I just made my cans of tomatoes better =D.
I squished two cans into one of DP's socks and tied them with a hair band... so 800g for me now, still not great but better than 400 xD.

Much easier today than yesterdays after dinner session, definitely will not being doing it after dinner again.

And I have not changed my food at all. I don't want to diet, just get fitter really. I like the food that I eat and am in healthy BMI (closer to top end however), so have been staying normal.
I don't think I eat to unhealthy anyway =].

Only 4 more days and its Level 2 here I come =O.

Ifancyanewname · 27/07/2011 19:30

Oh no, I've just read your post about it being harder after dinner MetalSian and I've just munched mine with the shred yet to do....i shall force myself though, it is only 20 mins. I really cant be arsed though. Still, I think ill feel a lot more awake after ive done it, i just want to sleep at the moment but with a 4 1/2 week old its just not happening! Did a walkaround the forest with the little ones today though too, I'm really trying to ust keep active most dasys, even if its not hard work its gotta be better than slobbing in the house right?!

Clarabumps · 27/07/2011 21:46

Well done i fancyanewname!I didnt realise you had a little one. I was still ina daze after 4 weeks with baby puke covering my shoulder. it will make you feel good if you can get out. The days are sooooo long when you don't get out of the house!
You're doing really well to even think about exercising! It will make you feel better in yourself if you can feel as though you are doing something about your fitness. i always feel better if I'm working towards something. Everything seems better for some reason. I hate being stagnant.
What did you have?boy/girl?Congratulations!Do you have any other dc's?
Just done my shred and it is easier than last night- still a killer- but easier and I still collapse on the floor at the end of it.

Ifancyanewname · 27/07/2011 22:17

well, I've done it and I'm so glad I did.....i feel so proud of myself, especially as i could have easily excused myself out of it. I have got 2 little ones, one dd who is 2 and2 months and another dd who is 4 weeks and 4 days. Getting out the house is def doing both me and my oldest dd good, it givess bit of structure to her day and wears her out and gives me a bit of execise into the bargain. I've got a double buggy so I have taken to popping them both in and walking round where I live which is bloomin hilly!!!! I'm almost looking forward to stage 2, I know i will regret saying that but it will be nice to do something different.
do you guys do any fthe other JM dvds?

Clarabumps · 28/07/2011 09:16

I have 6 week abs, I've only done it once and it is really good but quite a lot of the moves are plank based again and I feel I want to get my core strength up a bit before I start doing it regularly. Its good for a wee change though..i've heard banish fat is a good one too..Think i'll use that when I finish the shred. its 30 minutes so slightly longer but its still short enough that you don't feel as though your entire night is taken up.
Well done on actually doing it! Even walking with the pram will burn calories..especially going up hills. When you are pushing the pram uphill try and engage your stomach muscles and this will definately help with your fitness.
I have two boys with 18 months apart and I found that getting out of the house every day was great for my mood. It killed the boredom and also knowing I was doing something to get my body back into shape was great for my mind. There's nothing worse than feeling like you look like crap to bring on the dreaded baby blues.
i've had pnd since my ds2 was born and I'm hoping the endorphins from exercise will help with my general mood and so far it has.. we just all need to keep going.
Hurray for us!

Day 8 done. Definitely won't be ready for level 2 after only two more days though. I'm going to stick with level 1 until I don't have to stop for a breather during what I call the killer cardio section (jacks/jump/jacks/jump).

Abs sections are my favourites, and not just because I get to lie down...

McTemp · 29/07/2011 18:32

Can I join?!! Had the DVD since Christmas, but never managed more than a day or two before quitting, but now I have my holiday in a month, and so I've done the shred for 4 days in a row, and I feel generally fitter already! DP said that after each 7 consecutive days without quitting, I can dip into our savings and take out £100 to buy new holiday clothes for myself, which is pretty good motivation for me!!

I haven't even dared look at L2 yet, you lot have made me dread it now!! I haven't changed what I'm eating at all because I'm so crap at dieting, so I'm hoping that all 30 consecutive days of the dvd will get me my much wanted holiday-bod; wishful much?!!

MetalSian · 29/07/2011 21:16

Just finished L1 Day 8.
Had a very busy day and almost didn't bother but guilt tripped myself into it at 8.45pm xD.
Glad I did do it though.
Only two more days to the dread L2 ;P.

Ifancyanewname · 30/07/2011 10:17

i had a day off yest, back to it today though. I really dont want to give up! I think I'm just going to have one day off a week to allow my muscles a bit of a break and to give me renewed enthusiasm.

Ifancyanewname · 30/07/2011 15:41

Clara, thats really intetersting how you found it helpful for staving off depression. I'm def feeling much happier since I've been doing the shred, its good to have even just 20 mins to look after yourself. I did day 7 today and I really enjoyed it today, I pushed it so much harder for having the day off yesterday and I can see a real difference in just a week. I'm looking forward in a wierd way to level 2 :)

twoboots · 31/07/2011 13:49

hi everyone, done shred level one for 6 days out of the last 8, today is the first day i've managed to do all the star jumps without leaking. woo hoo.
i'm always curious about how people maintain " form", i think that the cardio knackers me so much that by the time i get to the side lunge and anterior raise, i cant make my arse go to out and to the side. i presume as my fitness improves Grin i can get my butt to do what my brain tells it.

SlinkyB · 31/07/2011 18:59

Did L2 Day 4 on Fri, day off yesterday then almost wimped out today as was SO tired. Decided I would 'treat' myself and go back to L1, as was really not 'in the zone' so figured I was better off doing 20 mins of hard work, rather than 20 mins of half-arsed with L2 which I'm still struggling with (i.e I'd rather do L1 Natalie-style than L2 Anita-style).

metalsian honestly don't know where you got the energy at 8.45pm?! and ifancy You must be very crazy dedicated to be doing this with a 2yr old AND a 4-wk old !

MetalSian · 31/07/2011 21:48

SlinkyB I really didn't have the energy but forced myself to do it xD.
Today is my first day off as my shoulder is hurting =[.

Will need to make sure I force myself into the last day of Level 1 tomorrow.

mamasunshine · 31/07/2011 22:21

Hello, can I join you please Smile....I'm just dying to tell someone that I have done it!!!! I've actually done L1 Day1 of the Shred tonight for the first time (I've had the DVD for about 18 months at least Blush) And actually I loved it, I was expecting something much worse...although I was dripping with sweat after the 20mins!

So I AM going to do the whole bloody thing if it kills me! I've taken measurements and taken photos of me in my underwear for motivation when I'm lacking....to go along with my "I WILL be thin again" chant Grin

You're all doing great, is anyone seeing any significant changes etc? If so how many days and so on?

kid · 31/07/2011 23:08

I've just ordered the DVD but I doubt I'll get much done as I'm off on holiday in 13 days.
I currently go gym 3 times a week anyway but I though 30 day shred sounded interesting and I could maybe do it at home and still go gym?

I think I'll start it as soon as it arrives so I get some done before my holiday and then start it again when I get back from holiday.

twoboots · 01/08/2011 12:48

shredded for 7 of the last 10 days. Still on level one.
I forgot to wear a bra today, so pleased that my back is not killing me!
I didnt ache this morning on waking which is a first! I think extending the warm up as helped.

Maybe level two tomorrow!

posterofagirl · 01/08/2011 20:00

I just did it for the first time and my eyes are sweating!

You guys who are on level 2 are now my heroes.

I managed to put on 5 stone during pregnancy so I really need to do this and stay motivated.

MetalSian · 01/08/2011 21:36

Just did my first Level 2.... I hate being in plank position, and I'm only doing the Anita moves =O!
Bit dead now, probably should have done it before 9pm but there you go ;P.

Must say though had a bad day today but feel better after doing that, quite proud I didn't collapse. The shakiness afterwards makes me chuckle though =D.
So 9 days of L1, a day rest then L2.

Hope all of you are still going strong!

kid · 01/08/2011 22:00

My DVD has been dispatched. I'm itching to get started, but from reading how others are getting on, I think I should be dreading it!
I really do hope its as good as I've heard, will have to take a before and after photo to see if its true!

unblissfullyignorant · 02/08/2011 07:21

Hi everyone. Well yesterday I did day 1 of level 3. It was hardcore, I'm not going to lie! The problem I now have is that I actually need to get myself some proper weights - like MetalSian, I have been using 700g cans of soup! In L3, there is a move where you have to lean on your weights while planking. I found I simply started to crush the cans Grin.

As I was starting to find L2 easier (yes, it does get easier, I promise - you still sweat heaps though), not having the right weights is giving me an excuse to avoid L3....I usually Shred when DS is in bed for his morning nap - not done it today though...may just do L2 tonight instead and commit to going and buying some weights tomorrow....

For those of you having issues with your knees after or when doing L2, I found doing the knee warmups she uses in L1 beforehand really helped. Or maybe I just got fitter - I don't know. Only lost 1lb so far - hmm, that will be the wine and chocolate! But I swear I look more toned...

Keep shredding everyone!

unblissfullyignorant · 02/08/2011 07:23

Whoops, meant to say I've lost 1kg, not 1lb! Much better, huh?! Because I've not been really watching my diet I think that's pretty good considering. I can imagine those of you who are dieting as well will really see some results at the end of L2.

SlinkyB · 02/08/2011 16:54

My god, the SWEAT this morning! Think it's more to do with the weather than the amount of effort I put in, but felt good after. L2 Day 6 done, do feel like it's starting to get a tad easier, but still collapse on the floor and do bicycle crunches at the end instead of plank twists (don't think I was doing them right, can't seem to swivel my hips that far round?).

Also revert to jumping-jacks for a few seconds if I'm struggling with any of the cardio.
