Hey everyone,

Saw the last thread was nearly full so thought I would start a new one :)

Just waiting for my beef rogan curry to finish cooking. Smells AMAZING :) Thank god I am off attack now!

B4Beatrice - I agree easier to be strong, and try to stick to it strictly as often one potato leads to another. Am adding carbs but sticking to SMALL portions of low GI, and think will stick to eats for breakfast for foreseeable future. I am still loosing and am getting too thin Smile so need to add some carbs to stabilise weight. But I do log everything I eat on MFP as a safety net.

So last night added small portion of basmati rice to my dinner.
Night before had small portion whole grain pasta

(for both of these cooked portion roughly of 1/2 size to what it said on pack was a portion)

Had a wholegrain ryvita with cottage cheese as a snack today.
Eating starchy veggies eg carrots, celeriac, parnsip.
Eating berries, apples pears (one portion each per day)

Cous-cous is medium GI - see here www.the-gi-diet.org/lowgifoods/

Thanks! You are like an encyclopaedia for dukan dieting!

I am on the cross trainer once or twice a day now for 20-30 mins and I try to keep my heart rate above 150 in the last 8-10 mins.

Need to push myself further now but I have one terrible knee that will need replacing in the next decade or so (did a very joint stressing sport for most of my childhood) so I'm a bit afraid to do too much else ( cross trainer is low impact on joints) incase I damage it and then can't exercise at all. The knee was pretty bad yesterday but have iced it a couple of times so am just about to go do some work now.

Thanks for your help and advice

Hiya, need to be on cruise till end of June but am really having a problem with the water. I drink lots and lots of tea but hardly any actual water. Do you think this is slowing down my weight loss as I haven't lost much and need to lose 9lbs? Would be really grateful if anyone has any advice with this, thanx

B4Beatrice · 24/05/2011 21:40

I'm no expert but how long was you on attack? How much did you loose whilst on it? And how much are you loosing on cruise?

foreverondiet · 24/05/2011 21:52

frenchchic Best to drink water. Why not just drink more?

I think it would be ok if herbal tea but not if normal tea as it contains caffeine and is diuretic, hence leads to water retention.

HeavyHeidi · 25/05/2011 08:12

hey, I'm still here as well, but haven't weighed myself for a few days, as I was travelling and definitely not dukaning. Well, at least did some sports. Back on protein again now, so hopefully will be losing again. Had a colleague's leaving party yesterday and managed to stick to coke zero when everybody else was having beer.
Clothes still a bit roomier than before and as everybody else is saying, not hungry and constantly thinking about food like usually on a diet. Hopefully will manage to go for a run this evening.

seedlessgrape · 25/05/2011 14:19

Congrats to everyone who's still here. I've lost another 2lbs which makes it 9lbs in total and, more importantly, my weight now starts with a 10 instead of an 11!! First target achieved. Next one hopefully in a week or so.

All these people who talk about cross-trainers, going for a run, etc, I don't know how you find the time! My exercise is limited to what I can do at lunchtime at work, so I've just been out for a 45 minute walk around Green Park - blimey, anyone would think we had a State visit going on for the amount of police around!!

foreverondiet · 25/05/2011 14:41

seedlessgrape funny that you walk around green park! i keep on intending to but instead go the other way and walk around john lewis on oxford street Blush

B4Beatrice · 25/05/2011 15:09

I do the cross trainer when DD is in bed. It's in the garage in front of a TV and I put a film or The OC on whilst I work!

If we are in and DD has a nap I will do it them as well as the evening one, but that's not often as we are out most days and she sleeps in the car.

Well done on achieving your target Seedless.

I have also tried to add another rule. Everytime I go upstairs I run to the top, run back down, and run back up!!

Don't know if this helps at all but it makes me puff a bit!!

Another lb off today. 8lbs in 8days now.

Keep up the good work everyone!

seedlessgrape · 25/05/2011 16:24

Oooh forever we're neighbours!! :)

BTW don't you think you would be completely justified in changing your MN username??

foreverondiet · 25/05/2011 17:22

seedless am thinking about changing username, but TBH think I'm going to be on this WOE forever if I want to maintain so maybe I am forever on a diet!

Chelseahandfull · 26/05/2011 00:53

Hello Dukanners. Am 2.5 weeks in (I think!) and 13 lbs down, so 34% of the way there. Agree with the rest - appetite really reduced and so far the only carb that has made it through my lips is 1.5 glasses of wine. Have even baked for 2 big coffee morning/tea parties without tasting a crumb - v proud of that.
I am away for half term next week and v nervous how that will go. We are self-catering, but without an oven or big fridge etc I think it could all be harder and am v worried about not getting back on track afterwards.
Also, haven't been doing much excercise (except walking) and am nervous about muscle loss, so must get into the gym after half term.
Let's all stick with it girls!

sybilfaulty · 26/05/2011 07:07

some very impressive weight losses on this thread - very inspiring. Well done girls.

Things not so good here. I've struggled to avoid carbs and, if I am honest, have fallen off the wagon quite badly. I have a redundancy meeting today so I am a bit stressed and we are away next week, so I am going to have to do my best for a week then do 3 more attack days once we are back.

Frenchchic · 26/05/2011 19:03

b4beatrice and forever, need to lose 9lbs so did 5 days attack but was on period so probably didn't lose anything then. Need to be on cruise till near end of June and followed your advice and have made myself have at least 6 glasses of water a day. Hopefully that will get things going a bit faster. Only thing is sometimes I add a bit of veg on a protein day, just with my lunch. IS THIS VERY BAD? I am happy that I can actually see a difference in the last couple of days and DH has noticed too so to anyone who is finding it slow moving, it does work if you stick with it x

B4Beatrice · 26/05/2011 20:38

Hi Frenchchic,

I wouldnt say it's bad, but its not true Dukan so maybe that's why you are not losing as fast as you would like.

Although you must be losing for people to notice, so well done.

I am on day 9 of attack and feeling shit. Have symptoms like the first few days, headache and tiredness.

Really dont feel like exercising but will be disapointed if I dont lose in the morning.

Somebody give me some motivation please??

Also how much should I be expecting to lose during the first couple of weeks of cruise? Bearing in mind I am still around 2.5st overweight?

Thankyou

fluffybutt · 26/05/2011 21:01

Hope you don't mind me joining in, I did Dukan last yr, quite successfully. Have had to modify it a bit to suit my bodies needs, (played havock with my periods!!) but still follow the basic principle. It is a fab diet and really does work, it is easy to maintain, and if you fall off the wagon, don't panic, just do an extra protein day. I found alternating pp/pv really difficult, so I did 3/3.

My diet saver was Tesco blue stripe cocoa powder. Its low fat, so mixed with skimmed milk and sweetener, makes a fab hot chocolate.

Has anyone tried to make oatbran bread, I tried it wasn't that successful, came out a bit flat, but edible.

B4Beatrice · 26/05/2011 21:29

Hi fluffy- I have a question for you please, well two actually (!), did you ever fall of the wagon during cruise, and what was your first celebration meal??

Sorry just thought another two!! How much weight did you have to loose going into cruise, and how much did you lose per week during the first couple of weeks of cruise??

Can you tell I am nearing the end of attack?!

Anyway big congratulations on your weight loss. I hope to be in your position this time next year......

Thanks

foreverondiet · 26/05/2011 21:55

frenchchic I hardly did any PP days. I hate PP days. I actually found I lost weight better when I added vegetables proabably because calorie intake was lower and I was less likely to cheat/fall off wagon. I always added non starchy ones very low in carbs eg spinach, mushrooms, broccoli rather than ones with higher carb levels like onions or tomatoes. And I'm still loosing even though I have fruit (only berries apples and pears though) and other carbs. I do drink LOADS of water and only caffiene is one can of diet coke each day. But I do exercise EVERY day either gym or shred or swim etc, and always have the energy for it.

fluffybutt · 26/05/2011 22:05

I was really good for the 1st 2 weeks of cruise, then I got a bit bored with being so bloody good! So had the odd treat, nothing really bad (couple of glasses of sherry!). I went on an all inclusive holiday 4 weeks into cruise, and thought sod it, EAT! Put on 5lbs, came home did 2 days PP, and lost the 5lbs. Normally if you a little slip up, any weight gain will just be water.

I can't actually remeber my 1st celebration meal, I remeber planning,, dreaming, drooling over thinking about what I might have though!!

I had a stone and a bit to lose, I lost 5lbs in attack, then 8 over the 1st 4 weeks of cruise, the remaining few pounds were stubborn, but they went eventually. Sometimes they like to come back!!

Like I said I had to tweek it to suit me, I don't know if all the dairy played havock with my hormones or what, but I was having periods all over the place and felt a bit emotionally unstable, so I changed to 2 days PP and 5 days eating whatever I wanted, including the odd cake, choc etc. and thats what I still do now, just not quite so rigidly.

Please make sure you drink loads of water, this diet can be a bit hard on the bowels and kidneys, so its really important.

You sound like you are really committed, good luck xxx

HeavyHeidi · 27/05/2011 06:40

so didn't want to weight myself as I was heavily cheating last weekend, and I mean heavily. but this morning have lost 2,6 kilos, that is 8 kilos since I started! not bad and the diet really is easy to follow.

2 more and will reward myself by buying another pair of shoes that I have my eye on :O

B4Beatrice · 27/05/2011 08:56

Thanks for the info fluffy!

I'm really liking this diet. I have gone through healthy eating phases but but have never properly dieted, or done regular exercise.

I like things to be black and White in life and I think I'm liking the rules of this diet. Ie if I follow it and don't break the rules I will be X weight at X date.

I'm never going to be super skinny, I'm short and stumpy, but if I can get to 9st (I'm 5ft 2) it will put me in the middle if the normal BMI range, and hopefully I will be able to keep it there or there abouts.

I bet there was lots of planning for the celebration meal!

I am already planning my PV dinner!

beatrice nine days of attack sounds like a tough mountain to climb and I sure as hell know that I couldn't do it. When do you start cruise?

B4Beatrice · 27/05/2011 13:49

Well the website told me to do 7 days. But I wanted to carry on until today as I have a wedding to go too tomorrow.

TBH i'm a bit afraid to eat veg now, as at the moment I am losing a lb a day and loving it. How pathetic is that?

Also I have never had this kind of will power, I can honestly say I have not had anything that I am not allowed. I haven't even had yogurt because I couldnt find any with really low carbs that I also liked. Looked at muller lights but they still looked quite carby. Maybe I should start just be adding some green leaves tomorrow?

I really want to make a Dukan cottage pie at some point (broccoli and cauliflower mash), but I feel like it will mean I wont lose a lb that day!
Im also anxious that I have told not to exercise today as I have had a spray tan and I might sweat if off!

I do have a tendancy to become obsessive and compulsive!!

I must sound crazy, im a fattie, 10 days into a diet, and too scared to eat veg!!
