Hey everyone,

Saw the last thread was nearly full so thought I would start a new one :)

Just waiting for my beef rogan curry to finish cooking. Smells AMAZING :) Thank god I am off attack now!

It sounds like a liquid thing. Its so hard to force yourself to drink water, I find.

sybilfaulty · 14/04/2011 09:10

Had my first dukan poo. Yuk! Can't wait for a few bits of veg at the weekend to sort things out.

Yesterday was OK but am wondering how much more sliced turkey it is decent for one woman to eat!

nikki1978 · 14/04/2011 16:38

See I am still having the opposiet problem poo wise Blush. Protein days give me the squits. Most unpleasant. Anyway looking forward to a nice stirfry tonight. Hang on - am I allowed bean shoots?

I seem to be losing and gaining the same pound over and over this week. Can't seem to get below 11st. It seems each time I have a P+V day, the next morning I have gained a pound & then lose it again after my PP day. So frustrating!

Interested to know if we can have sugar free jelly on cruise phase & skimmed evaporated milk, as have a great recipe for mousse using these two ingredients. I'm really missing the sweet treats :(

Zeeky · 15/04/2011 11:09

Just found out that we can have sugar free jelly as long as it's not sweetened with fructose. The evap milk I have is semi-skimmed so prob shouldn't use it.

foreverondiet · 15/04/2011 11:11

zeeky I would imagine jelly ok as its artificial sweetner, but evaporated milk will be high in milk sugars so probably not.

Very frustrating to not be loosing though. Could you try 5 attack days followed by 5 veggies days?

What are you eating on typical day?

Zeeky · 15/04/2011 15:56

Typical day on PP consists of:

Breakfast - 2 egg omlette with smoked salmon, 2 cups tea

Mid-morning - coffee, fat free yoghurt

Lunch - chicken breast & salmon fillet

Snack - fat free yoghurt with oatbran

Dinner - steak & prawns or fish or roast chicken, a homemade egg-custard or similar dessert from Dukan book

On PV days, I have same breakfast, some salad with a chicken
breast/fish filletfor lunch, some veg with the meat/fish for dinner.

Maybe I'm not drinking enough. I try to have 4 large glasses of no added sugar squash each day.

Zeeky · 15/04/2011 17:33

Oh bum! Just had a chocolate binge - creme egg PLUS a large chunk of Belgian fruit & nut :(. I've been having terrible sugar cravings today - first time since starting 2 weeks ago. Maybe in part due to being stuck at 11st 1oz as posted above - starting to lose willpower & motivation.

I must keep focused on the fact that I can pull my belt in an extra hole on all my jeans now :)

terrier26 · 15/04/2011 18:58

Hi there - this is my first post...I've been lurking a while, but Dukaning since mid January. Started out at nearly 13st and am now down to 10st10 - have another 6 or 7lbs or so to drop to get to ideal weight, but might try to get down to 10st. (5ft6ish)
Have been pretty strict, with the odd treat day - couple of glasses of wine, couple of squares of dark choc, etc...and have introduced a few Pig 2 Twig recipes for when the boredom gets too much!
One thing I wanted to share for when desperate for something sweet is choc porridge - portion of oatbran, mixed with skimmed milk, tbsp cocoa and artificial sweetner to taste (have been using agave syrup instead, but not sure this is stricly allowed)..it's gorgeous (well, by Dukan standards) and is very filling and just takes the edge off the sweet cravings...
All in all, I've found it an easy diet - but have wrestled with the shedding the same pound for a week like zeeky - I then find I usually drop 2 or 3 quite quickly after a week of stalling.
Sorry, that turned into an essay!

Zeeky · 15/04/2011 19:29

Thanks for the tip terrier. Well done on your amazing weight loss!!! Do you feel better for it? How on earth have you managed to stay motivated for so long? I've only been on it for 2 weeks & already starting to get sick of chicken and fish!

Do you have any other good quick recipes you can share?

Going to my parents on Sunday for a week which will be very hard to stick to dukan as they eat a LOT of carbs! Will try to just stick to the meat & veg & stay off the Easter eggs as much as poss & then have a few PP days when I get back to get back on track. It is also DS2's 1st birthday on 30th & having a little tea party for him, so will have a lot of cakes etc tempting me then too. Oh well, if I can just maintain current weight & try not to gain too much in next couple of weeks that will be something...

terrier26 · 16/04/2011 10:20

zeeky lots of water def helps! Your diet sounds great - stick with it and it does work! It is really hard when you're off home turf to stick to it - I think if you just do the best you can and then maybe do a couple of PP days when you get home, you'll be fine.

For lunch, have generally been eating A LOT of chicken breast - buying those packs from M & S at 3 for £5! Also, egg mayo (using a tiny amount of the lowest carb mayo I could find) with crispy bacon, tuna and chopped egg - with sala on PV days.
For dinner, mainly fish with green veg or salad, or more chicken. When I cant stand it any longer I've had the odd treat from the India and Nerys cook book - leeks with blue cheese, cream and walnuts, or the butter chicken is delicious. Not strictly dukan, but still no/very low carb.
It has been boring, but I'm now completely 'in the zone'...it was weighing myself and finding I weighed more than DH that motivated me to be honest...that and using the baby weight excuse when my 'baby' had just started school! Enough was enough...now I've just got to keep it off, which will be the challenge. The food is boring and I LOVE food, and wine...it's now just become less of a focus. I hope I can stick with it! The 30 day shred DVD also helped hugely and am getting into a better shape.

Zeeky · 16/04/2011 21:52

Terrier I'm also doing the 30day shred, although keep stopping due to illness & holidays so still only half way through level 2 but has hugely improved my overall fitness & tone.

sybilfaulty · 17/04/2011 10:55

HAve not yet weighed myself but can see I have lost. Clothes are looser too. However, I am questioning the wisdom of me being on a diet which is so restrictive of vegetables. I cracked last night and had a big salad with my chicken and have started taking fybogel (ispaghula husk) as I can't bear not pooing every day.

Am going to stick with it for a while as the results are really good but any tips welcome. Am planning to do PP then PV for a week to see if I can hack the pooing, but if not then I'll just low carb with lots of veg to go with.

Am drinking lots and eating plenty of oat bran. Out to a wedding this pm so will have to eat what I am given but am driving so won't at least have those calories from the champagne.

terrier26 · 17/04/2011 21:01

sybil hope you had a lovely time at the wedding!
just on the subject of pooing, I found the vegetable soup recipe in the Dukan book helps to move things along...and it's quite tasty. I've started to cheat a bit though by adding some grated emmanthal - not good! Also, stewed rhubarb with a little sweetener and yoghurt is a decent breakfast.
Have found that the pooing has settled a lot though now I've been on it a while.
zeeky am on day 9 Level 3 - have bought the abs dvd to start soon..have you tried any others? It's definitely helped!

sybilfaulty · 17/04/2011 22:31

Thanks Terrier. Is the veg soup for PV days only ? And the rhubarb thing too I am guessing? I think I could do the PV days OK but 3.5 days of just protein did for my poor tummy. i am positively mainlining fybogel (sorry TMI) but still feel really bloated and dense. Yuk.

Wedding lovely, party in sunshine, lots of sushi, veg wraps etc. Ate mainly the tops of sushi although I did sneak a tiny bit of rice. Had a glass of wine when I got home but better than my usual half bottle. Will do PP tomorrow and see how I get on. Am preferring the fish to the meat I think, even though it's mainly salmon, prawns and a bit of mackeral.

foreverondiet · 18/04/2011 23:58

sybil I didn't do more than one protein day a week for the same reason but still lost doing P&V days just made sure I ate protein at each meal. Have now reached target weight and still following dukan principles although not sticking strictly to consolidation.

sybilfaulty · 19/04/2011 07:14

Thanks forever. I had a good day yesterday, even though we went to a caff for lunch, so I had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon which seemed the lowest carb thing on the menu. Steak and tomato salad for tea. yum yum. I can only manage this if I have some veg and don't mind if my progress is slower. I might even go and weigh myself in a minute to see if I've lost anything.

I'm out for a friend's fortieth tonight so there will be booze and lardy food. Gorgeous restaurant though so will have o eat a bit. Will le tyou know.

SeenButNotHeard · 19/04/2011 14:15

Hello all

It has been a long time since I have checked in and with a recent name change, you will not know who I am Grin

I just wanted to give some feedback to those of you wondering if this diet really works in the long term.

I started Dukan about a year ago - it took me about five months to get to my true weight (almost a four stone loss) and I am just finishing stage 3. I have gone from a large size 18 to a size 12 and now that the warmer weather is here, for the first time since I had my dd 6 years ago, I am not dreading going out without the security of 'layers'.

I am really pleased to say that, for me, this has been a life changing year. I have managed to keep the weight off and even when I put on a few pounds when on holiday, and over Christmas they came back off with very little effort.

Keep at it everyone and if you have any questions, I am happy to try and help.

Zeeky · 19/04/2011 21:38

Seenbutnotheard - your story is inspirational! How on earth did you stay motivated for so long? Did you not get sick of eating protein. I've been doing it a couple of weeks & already starting to feel nauseous at the thought of eating yet more mackerel/chicken/smoked salmon. Even getting sick of yoghurts which I usually love. Having a slight break from it at the moment as at my parents' for a week.

Any tips for how to relieve the monotony of protein & not having fruit would bf greatly received!

SeenButNotHeard · 20/04/2011 08:55

Hi Zeeky

Thanks for the kind words - it really has been a little easier than I thought it would be, but to be honest I have not done things exactly by the book.

I have eaten all meat - so I have had Waitrose half fat Burgers with sugar free ketchup, lean ham, good quality sausages, as well as all fish, chicken etc.

I have had Atkins treats like sugar free sweets, low carb chocolate and crackers.

Fruit I have struggled with, but as you can have tomatoes and salad once you are off of Attack I have compensated with this.

I still have M&S deli meats for lunch and avoid sandwiches unless I am out and there is little choice.

With yoghurts I try to make them a little more substantial by emptying two small pots into a bowl and putting my oat bran in along with wheat bran (to help keep me regular Wink)

Keep going, you will get there (as have half of the women in my office!)

Zeeky · 20/04/2011 21:26

Seenbutnotheard your version sounds a lot more doable. I think I've been trying to be too strict & follow it to the letter & then consequently fall off the wagon :(

Once Easter & DS2's 1st birthday are out of the way, I will get back on it.

sybilfaulty · 21/04/2011 08:02

Seen you are an inspiration. I feel much more comfortable now i am off attack. Still not eating anywhere near the amount of veg I was before, but enough to be comfortable. I find it OK in the day, if a bit boring but supper is hard. I have lost the craving for a baked potato but would like the odd piece of toast.

Will have to consult the back of the book for inspiration.

MarieFromStMoritz · 21/04/2011 08:06

Well, I have been on Dukan for about 3 weeks now, I have lost nearly a stone and I feel fantastic!!!. I keep having to look in the mirror as I can't quite believe how slim I am looking (still have a long way to go, though). This is easily the best diet I have ever done. I cannot recommend it enough.

sybilfaulty · 21/04/2011 08:36

Wow, Marie, really well done! A stone in 3 weeks is awesome. Bloody well done. WOuld you mind my asking how much you would like to lose overall? DO you think this is something you could do longterm? I think I could cut down carbs in the longterm but am looking forward to reintroducing at least a few in the stabilization phase.

Was very hungry yesterday but feel ok again today. Am going to try to be good, even though we are out for lunch so goodness knows what I will end up with!

MarieFromStMoritz · 21/04/2011 09:13

I started out at 11st 4lb. I am now about 10st 6lb, maybe a bit less. I want to get as close as I can to 9st 1lb before my IVF cycle.

I have basically cut out carbs completely. I am amazed that I have managed to do this, especially given my love of potatoes and pizza, but honestly every time I look in the mirror I feel happy. And that encourages me. My saviours are plain, skimmed yoghurt with oat bran and Splenda and fat-free flavoured yoghurts. Especially the Elle & Vire ones (not sure if you can get them in the UK).

I have been out for dinner a few times since I started the diet. I usually have salmon with steamed veg, or steak, or tuna.

Honestly, I have been dieting for nearly 30 years and this is by far the best diet I have ever done. It is so easy.
