Hey everyone,

Saw the last thread was nearly full so thought I would start a new one :)

Just waiting for my beef rogan curry to finish cooking. Smells AMAZING :) Thank god I am off attack now!

I'm feeling (and looking) more and more bloated as the day goes on and I continue to eat more bloody protein! It's now 32 hours since my last poo (sorry, TMI!) and I need to eliminate, eradicate and exterminate this alien in my stomach.......

If one person offers me a seat on the tube because they think I'm pregnant (yes, my stomach is that bloated) I shall bitch slap them!

HeavyHeidi · 20/05/2011 16:38

for the bathroom issues - try psyllium husks. all natural, work like a charm but won't mess up your digestion.

seedlessgrape · 20/05/2011 16:51

Thanks Heidi. I'll pop to Holland & Barrett on my way home tonight and pick some up.

I promise not to report back in the morning with an update!! :0

foreverondiet · 20/05/2011 19:07

And if that all fails try a glycerine suppository.

B4Beatrice · 21/05/2011 10:05

Hi everyone.

Feeling good today, mentally, have lost 5lbs and this is my 4th day on attack.
Wednesday morning I was 12st3 and I am now 11st12.

Physically howevee, I feel bloated. Have had a cup of green tea, see if that helps.

Also I didnt do my 20mins of walking yesterday, so did 20mins on Cross Trainer last night. Didn't find it hard work at all but my side stomach muscles are aching today.

How is everyone else doing?

seedlessgrape · 21/05/2011 10:27

Hi Beatrice and well done on the 5lbs loss - that's fantastic.

I can totally empathise with the bloated feeling - and I tried green tea as well. I still feel bloated and I haven't been for a poo for over 50 hours now (8am Thursday morning was the last time). I took 2 psyllium husk capsules last night and two again this morning and I'm now just waiting for them to work.

I haven't weighed myself since I started Attack on Monday and I was reluctant to do so until they had worked their magic, but I couldn't hold out any longer and, with huge trepidation, trod very carefully on the scales before my shower this morning. VERY VERY pleased to announce a 7lbs loss in 5 days wooohoooo :)

Bring on those green veggies!

B4Beatrice · 21/05/2011 12:12

Wow! 7bls in 5 days is great! Hope much are you planning to lose? If you don't mind me asking.

TBH the 11st12bls was first thing this morning, so I will probably be a lb or so heavier once I have eaten today.
But I'm thinking as long as I weigh myself at the same time (am) it will still show if I'm losing weight. That's right isn't it?

Have had lovely breakfast of 3scrambled eggs (only one yolk) with a dash of skimmed milk, and half fillet of salmon.

Have also done thirty mins on cross trainer, which said I burnt 200 cals, but don't know if that matters?

Really really want to be slim!!

Dilligaf81 · 21/05/2011 22:30

Oops forgot to sign in yesterday Im on day 6 and have lost 7.5 lbs. sonly 6.5 more to go. I dont seem to be having any of the bloating or toilet issues others are having (thank god).

The most suprising thing for me is im not hungry or thinking about food every second of the day Like I usually am when on a diet.

Tonight has been a good test for me as DH is on a night shift and usually I hoover food all night but I havent touched a thing (even though the cupboards are bulging with the kids goodies).

Im thinking 10 days on attack and hopefully Ill have lost the remaining 6.5 lbs to get me to 9st 3lb by my bday in the middle of June. then it can all go to pot with the 2 weekends aeay endless food and vodka

Dilligaf81 · 21/05/2011 22:32

B4 Beatrice your right if you weigh yourself at the same time it'll give a true indictaion of weight loss.
Doing the cross trainers great Im still cycling 40 mins a day to work 3 days a week and running twice.

x

Fairy

B4Beatrice · 22/05/2011 16:12

Am utterly pissed off! Was 1lb heavier this morning!!

Didn't eat bad yesterday but had chicken tikka from Indian which I think had some butter on.

Today have eaten 2 hard boiled eggs, some roast beef (have been out at country show, and got one from the hog roast stand with no roll) and will have steak and prawns for tea.

Will also get on cross trainer tonight.

Only had about 5 hours sleep last night, and I read somewhere that you don't burn as much with little sleep

Itching to get on the scales but going to wait until tomorrow morning as to avoid anymore disappointment!

Just wondering Fairy, how much have you lost?

foreverondiet · 22/05/2011 17:45

B4Beatrice - don't get too focused on day to day movements - 1lb of fat is a deficit/surplus of around 4000 calories and you didn't put that on since yesterday. I have been weighing myself daily for over 6 months and still get a surprise when I stand on the scales in the morning. Over the course of a week it varies by around 3lbs if I cheat at all. Takes 2-3 days after cheat to get back to lowest weight. I'm not really gaining or loosing 3lbs, its just retained water. Also makes a difference whether I have a BM in the morning, eg best weight is when I wake up, and then have BM and then weigh myself, but that doesn't happen every morning first thing.

I started at 12 5 (October) and am now 8 12..... (not all weight lost through dukan though).... reached 9 stone target in April. Initial target was 9 10 and got there early March. Its takes time (after initial jump down on attack)... dieting is long slow and boring.

Dilligaf81 · 22/05/2011 20:04

Well done foreveronadiet it was after feedback from you I decided to give Dukan a go.

I had a bit of a cheat and had a Bigmac and fries in my defence I had 4 hours sleep and got badgered for a McD's by the kids I gave in but didnt really think about what I would have.

Never mind still 7.5lbs in 6 days. Going to start the next phase tomorrow.
I was thinking 1 p&v then 2 pp days - I really want to lose at least the last 6.5 lbs in 3 weeks.

B4Beatrice · 22/05/2011 21:38

Sorry for being stupid.....but? What's BM?

Its interesting to talk to you as I started out at 12st3.

The chart on www.dukandiet.com says that I will be 9st (my target weight) by September. We will see !!

I'm just taking it a lb at a time!!

foreverondiet · 22/05/2011 22:45

BM = bowel movement, or poo! Was trying to be polite!

My weight loss (not all dukan though) averaged out at around 2lb a week, so took 5 months to loose the weight.

B4Beatrice · 22/05/2011 23:24

HaHa.

How funny!

I feel extra silly now!

seedlessgrape · 23/05/2011 14:06

Hello ladies, and I hope everyone is ready for a new week.

Just to report that (1) my weight has stayed the same since Saturday morning and (2) the bathroom issues are resolved! Not sure if that's down to the psyllium husk capsules or the curry I had on Saturday night but something worked! I had a takeaway curry with a girlfriend on Saturday and I went for the Tandoori Chicken, garlic mushrooms and bindi bhaji (okra) which I considered to be the most suitable options. I'm sure the mushrooms must have been cooked in butter/oil and unfortunately I couldn't see okra on the allowable vegetable list but at least I didn't succumb to naan bread, poppadoms, rice and, most importantly, alcohol!

Moved to Cruise on Saturday and I have decided to do alternating 1PP and 1PV days as I think I would struggle with the recommended 5PP/5PV. It is so nice to be able to eat vegetables - I had a huge bowl of chicken, cottage cheese and watercress for my lunch and am looking forward to my chicken curry tonight (made with spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms).

seedlessgrape · 23/05/2011 14:10

Beatrice - in answer to your earlier question, I would like to lose another stone/stone and a half. I started at 11st8lbs which is the heaviest I have been for years and as of Saturday morning (and today) I am 11st1lb. If I get down to 10st I am a perfect size 12 which I am very happy with. According to the so-called 'experts' I should be about 8st7lb but I know that I would look old and gaunt if I got that low. I know what suits me and what is healthy for me and that's between 9.7 and 10st, therefore that's my aim.

B4Beatrice · 24/05/2011 10:25

Half a stone down now! 11st 10. Still over two and a half to go though!!

The website said that I should do 7 days on attack but I'm going to finish the week off as I have a wedding on Saturday.

How's everyone else doing?

foreverondiet · 24/05/2011 10:35

b4beatrice - good luck at the wedding, and do exercise some sort of caution with the carbs and alcohol, or you'll find yourself 3-4lbs heavier the next morning. Other damage limitation is other than the wedding on sat only have protein ie for breakfast before you go. IMO 7 days attack enough, have at least one PV (or 2) days this week and then maybe instead do 2-3 PP days in a row next week after the wedding.

The weight loss WILL slow down 2.5 stone likely to take 3 months.

seedlessgrape · 24/05/2011 11:01

My OH got back from 10 days' overseas last night and noticed the weight loss!!

I've decided not to weigh myself every day but will probably do so every other day, after my PP day.

Didn't manage any exercise yesterday but am doing my usual hour's Zumba this evening so hopefully that will make up for it.

beatrice well done on the half a stone!

B4Beatrice · 24/05/2011 18:08

Yes thanks for advice Forever.

Am driving and will have baby at wedding so no drinking!

It's also a buffet so will be able to pick what I eat.

Just wondering why I should come off pp today? I feel fine.

Not questioning, just wondering!

B4Beatrice · 24/05/2011 18:12

Also was meant to say. Am prepared for weightloss to slow down. Website says I should be at my target weight by September, so pretty much what you are saying.

foreverondiet · 24/05/2011 18:46

Why come of PP? Because 5-7 days is enough. We need vegetables and fibre in diet.

(Also for me I hate PP days, love eating veggies - I actually found that I lost weight just as fast only doing 1 PP day a week - I think probably because I ate a lot less calories on a PV day, but if you don't mind them... also because after a cheat day (like wedding) good to do a couple of PP days in a row but you might be totally fed up of it by then).

I basically lost 2lb a week but was very focussed and hardly lapsed. Am loosely following consolidation rules (ie adding some healthy carbs) but not doing it exactly as he suggests as don't really for example want to eat cheese or bread each day. Meanwhile still loosing (maybe around 0.5lb a week).

B4Beatrice · 24/05/2011 20:25

Sure I see.

I will not be cheating at the wedding. I really feel driven and motivated now, ATM I really feel like I can stick it out until September. I know thats easy to say now, but I really really feel scared to put the weight that I have already lost back on .I know its not much but my clothes are fitting better and I am enjoying the challenge of loosing weight every day/week.

Saying that I am prepared for the weight loss to slow down.

I just feel that if I "cheat" now (a slice of wedding cake, a new potato etc) I will loose control again. For the first time ever I feel in control and am able to deny myself things and feel great about it.

Forever- what good carbs do you eat? Where does cous cous come in to it. Good or bad? What about compared to wholegrain pasta?
