Hey everyone,

Saw the last thread was nearly full so thought I would start a new one :)

Just waiting for my beef rogan curry to finish cooking. Smells AMAZING :) Thank god I am off attack now!

B4Beatrice Loosing 1lb a day is just not sustainable, and if you did attack for 50 days you would NOT loose 50lbs. Its mainly water at the start of any diet anyway ... You won't loose lbs at the same rate once you eat veggies but the fat will still come off - I know this as i have body fat scales and I was a bit OCD about working out how many pound of fat I have!!!! be prepared for the scales to be stuck for at least a week.

Add green veggies that are low in carbs to start with and buy some greek yoghurt as its the lowest in carbs - or try the lactose free milk? I personally think 10 days is a long time for attack - I did 5 days and that was enough.

seedlessgrape · 27/05/2011 14:16

LOL beatrice I think we can all empathise with what you're going through and it's not pathetic, it's wanting to succeed!

After 5 days of Attack I have to admit I was scared/reluctant to go back to eating vegetables for fear of not losing weight, but I think we all have to realise that it's unhealthy to have a diet of pure protein for a long period of time. What the Cruise phase does is allow you to maintain a steady weight loss, rather than a quick fix, and to teach you how to eat healthily.

I started on the Cruise phase last Saturday and, since then, I have lost 2.5lbs (compared to 7lbs in 5 days on Attack) but I prefer this steady weight loss and as any expert will tell you, the slower it comes off, the longer it stays off. If you continue losing weight at the rate of 1lb a day I can guarantee you will make yourself ill; I have no medical knowledge, just common sense tells me that.

Anyway, I'm in no position to lecture you so I will just say congrats on the weight loss to date and I hope you enjoy the wedding tomorrow!!

cjbk1 · 27/05/2011 14:59

i thoroughly read up on this then co-incidentally my friend started it, what a silly diet, she was hungry and tired all the time and soon stopped and is bak on junk food and alcohol to make up for nearly starving.what a silly diet

cjbk1 · 27/05/2011 15:00

by the way she did lose 8lb in a week which is dangerous but it (and more) went straight bak on

B4Beatrice · 27/05/2011 15:20

Cjbk- thanks for your support. All though I do think you have the wrong diet, or your friend was doing wrong, as you can eat as much as you like. You obviously know nothing about this diet an are just posting here to draw attention to yourself and belittle others.

Also, I can't remember anybody asking your opinion. Please correct me if I am wrong.

So to sum up- fuck off. Ta

B4Beatrice · 27/05/2011 15:22

Sorry seedless, I got a little side tracked!

I know you are totally right!

A genuine thanks for your support.

B4Beatrice · 27/05/2011 15:24

Oh and also Forever. You are right. Think I am going to stick to greens and leaves for a bit and ease myself back in.

Frenchchic · 27/05/2011 20:45

Thank you ladies for your tips. Water certainly seems to be doing the trick, perhaps that's why it took so long for me to start losing weight. Foreverondiet, am so glad to see you hate the PP days too. Will follow your example and see how it goes, if it doesn't work for me then I'll add in some more PP days. Only prob now is after being period free for three days it has now started up again with a vengence. Going into fourth week now and is hard to keep on diet when feeling like this but am determined not to throw it all away for the sake of cake!!! It's so fantastic to see everyone's posts on here, really does keep you motivated and the advice has really worked for me x

greenfig · 28/05/2011 13:32

Hi all
Looks like you're all doing really well, just checking back in to say that I have successfully kept the weight off for several months now. It's great fitting back into size 8s & 10s again, shopping is fun again rather than depressing! I am far from fanatic & did not really follow consolidation to the letter (not that I'm advising that!). I still have oatbran porridge for b'fast, keep up the cold water consumption & weigh in daily. The rest is fairly flexible, usually whatever everyone else is having. I may have alcohol, pizza, a peice of cake, but I mostly tend to stick to low carb when poss & reach for the cott cheese/ yog/ ham instead of toast when hungry! I allow a 3lb fluctuation which keeps me focused without becoming obsessed, I want to set a sensible attitude to eating to my children.
I found the diet to work, I was never hungry, it cut cravings with no energy loss, infact I felt great! Friends & my mum have followed suit & have also been successful so you can too!

B4Beatrice · 29/05/2011 11:00

Hi Guys

Well the wedding was wonderful. And luckily there was a buffet so I just ate cold meats and salad.

I went and watched with DD on the bouncy castle, while dessert was being served (it was very informal, lots of kids, lots of parents doing shifts of inside with adults and outside on bouncy castle with kids- so it wasn't like I was being rude) to keep away from temptation!

The worst I had was half a glass of champers during the speeches!

Am a lb lighter this morning, but didn't lose yesterday morning, so rounds it up to an even 10lb loss from when I started 11 days ago.

12st3 to 11st7.

So, going to add some veg, especially green salads and green beans, and try to put a bit more exercise time in.

Would love to shift 3lbs this week which would mean I will of lost a stone.

Will keep you informed!!

AlfalfaMum · 01/06/2011 15:12

Hi,

Well, I finally started yesterday! On my second day of attack now :)
I actually came in and wrote a long post last night, but there was a glitch and it disappeared Confused

I have at least 13lb to lose, so am going to do attack for 3 or 4 days (playing it by ear slightly)
Yesterday I ate oatbran porridge with fat free yogurt, boiled egg/tuna and a scallion for lunch, 2 quorn sausages and salmon fillet for dinner, and a few fat free but fruity yogurts as snacks. Also a few bites of low fat cottage cheese.
I had one moment of weakness and ate a bit of houmous off my finger Blush

When I weighed this morning I had lost an encouraging 2lb :) (I think I peed all that out yesterday!)

Couple of questions: I can't find the prescribed fat free cottage cheese and fromage frais in any local shops, so have been making do with diet versions which are 1% fat or less. Does it really matter much, and can anyone recommend a shop that does stock fat free versions?

Also, because I don't eat meat, I'm thinking I can get away with some low fat cheese occasionally?

foreverondiet · 01/06/2011 15:22

alfalfa - are you in UK - tesco stock their own range of fat free cottage cheese, fromage frais, greek yoghurt and plain yoghurt.

re: low fat cheese, I'd leave it a few weeks as even with meat he only allows low fat meat, and low fat cheese is generally still 25% fat - if you find one thats lower eg 10% maybe that would be ok. But tofu and quorn are great choices, and personally think better to have some pulses than the cheese. And don't worry about eating stacks of eggs!

IWantToBeAFairyWhenIGrowUp · 01/06/2011 15:31

Hello,

I only just found this thread. I've been doing the Dukan diet since the beginning of March - I lost 5lb on the attack phase (3 days) and since doing the cruise phase I've lost a stone, so 19lb in all.

I've still got a bit to go but almost on consolodation phase.

I've found it a really easy diet to stick too too. Even if you have a weekend off, its easy to lose the weight again.

foreverondiet · 01/06/2011 15:36

iwant I agree about weekend off - I am at target now, and love that I can eat what I want all weekend, and then do dukan Monday & Tuesday (don't do protein days but do P&V but with non starchy veggies only) and by Wed morning back to thin weight again! Weight has been off since March, but have lost another few pounds in consolidation.

AlfalfaMum · 01/06/2011 21:32

forever I'm in Eire but we have Tesco :o I bought some of their Light Choices things, including the cottage cheese, but it's low fat rather than fat free. Fromage frais is actually fat free though, my mistake!
I'll steer from all cheese then :( (already succumbed to a dose of haloumi today alas..it was open since the weekend and needed using up!)

Does anyone know which pulses are the least fatty/carby? I would like to include some of the 'safer' pulses (maybe just on pv days) or I think I'm going to find it hard to stick to the diet.

I'm thirsty all the time these past 2 days, so finding it easy to drink - and exceed - the water quota :)

foreverondiet · 02/06/2011 09:48

Soya beans are least carby and highest in protein.

Others I think are all quite similar - they are all low fat but more carby. But they are slow release carbs that don't affect insulin so much, so I wouldn't worry about 2-3 portions a week - as you say otherwise going to be hard to stick to it. I have added to diet now in consolidation (I eat meat), am still loosing, albeit more slowly.

AlfalfaMum · 02/06/2011 22:05

Thanks a mill Forever :)

I've messed up today: I made home made garlic bread from scratch for DH and the kids to have with their pasta, and it was so lovely and buttery that I ate some. Ooops :o

I felt bloated for the first time in days, and had a little indigestion too. Not worth it really!

Definitely going to have another attack day tomorrow.

Dilligaf81 · 05/06/2011 15:30

Hi all glad to see your all keeping it up. I lost 7 lbs on Attack and another 3 on cruise so far but have slipped lots..... I really struggle when DH is on nights, he cooks for the DC so I come in from work and start doing homework, reading bath etc then just want a bag of maltesers and toast. I have kept the weight off just havent lost anymore.
I found Attack much easier to stick to than Cruise but I think part of that is lack of planning.
Although I still have 7lb's to go I pulled out soem pre DC4 clothes and spent the weekend wearing my denim cutoffs Grin stupidly happy about that.

So Im off to write my plan for the week but having the weekend off as away with friends and the following weekend for my 30th Sad but hopefully if I keep it up during the week Ill loose some.

How do you do so much exercise, I cycle to a from work 3 days a week and walk a lot but tried to go running last week (Im a regular runner before starting Dukan) and literally ran for 3 mins then felt really weak and shaky - anyone got any ideas how I can stop this I really want to be able to carry on with the running.

divadoll · 06/06/2011 07:32

That running thing is nothing to do with the diet. I train every day and there are some on here training for triathlons/marathons. You should just start slowly as your body may not be ready for it, is all.

foreverondiet · 06/06/2011 12:03

I trained for triathlon (yesterday) on dukan diet. I do accept that the lack of carbs affects some people in different ways, but if you eat ENOUGH then you'll have enough energy. I always work out in morning probably an hour after breakfast - 2 eggs and yoghurt with oatbran. Shouldn't feel weak after that.

Sounds like you still have sugar cravings...

FWIW I found cruise much easier than attack, I buy stacks of veggies from supermarket, breakfast is eggs and yoghurt, lunch is fish and salad, dinner is chicken/turkey/meat and steamed / stir-fried etc veggies.

I do have snack when I come in from work as realistically can't eat properly for a couple of hours and I am hungry... but find that 100g yoghurt / cottage cheese, some slices turkey are enough to tide me over.

Chelseahandfull · 06/06/2011 12:12

Hello chaps. Back from a week in Portugal for half term and was really worried about weighing in as failed to keep to plan (our villa had trees laden with ripe oranges and apricots and DH picked up freshly baked bread each morning).

Pleasingly I seem only to have put on 1 lb over the week, and have clambered back on the wagon today. So, net I am 12lbs down after 3 weeks of Dukan and 1 week of holidaying.

My mother has decided to have a go, and a girl friend in Seatle, so am spreading the word - just have to make sure I can stick with it now!

I love hearing about others - keep posting girls!

happystressedmum · 06/06/2011 12:13

I am just reading the book and want to start but not having ANY wine is going to be a tad difficult. How do you socialise?

foreverondiet · 06/06/2011 12:55

Generally drink diet coke / or diet sprite when socialising - I like this diet as diet coke / sprite is allowed!

Wine has too many calories even when on calorie counting diet, so not being able to have wine on dukan seemed irrelevant. Its just liquid carbs and calories and goes straight to hips, sorry!

happystressedmum · 06/06/2011 13:35

Can someone tell me is it okay to drink diet coke?

happystressedmum · 06/06/2011 13:37

Sorry I meant on the attack phase?
