Hey everyone,

Saw the last thread was nearly full so thought I would start a new one :)

Just waiting for my beef rogan curry to finish cooking. Smells AMAZING :) Thank god I am off attack now!

Just thought I would check in and say that although I need to be on cruise till 23rd June, I can really notice a difference now and am wearing things I haven't worn for ages. I don't know how much I've actually lost as I'm just going by how I look and feel. DH has said every day for the past week that I'm looking so slim and although I would still like to lose quite a bit more it's great to see the improvement. Also due to problems with periods I haven't been able to exercise or do any walking for the last two weeks so probably would have lost more. I'm feeling so great and today turned down chocolate and chocolate chip muffins without too much heartache!

B4Beatrice · 09/06/2011 22:01

Adamschic-
Day two was rough for me. Stick with it and it will get easier.
I have just finished week 2 of cruise (also did 1 week of attack, so three weeks into diet) and have now lost a stone.

Are you drinking enough water? Maybe drinking a diet coke may help when you feel week?

AlfalfaMum · 09/06/2011 22:21

Yes, I found the first 2 days the hardest. It gets easier.

I fell off the wagon badly last Friday, it was a gorgeous sunny day and a joint birthday party.. I succumbed to a glass of white, some cashews and some windfall birthday cake. I then managed to be fairly good 'til Sunday night when I had a large brandy, then on Monday we wentout for lunch with my brother and nephew and all the kids and I ate pizza. It tasted sooo good though.
I've been more-or-less good since, but have only lost one pound since Friday. Bit discouraged, but I only have myself to blame :)

I bought marinated smoked salmon and some smoked mackeral from Aldi, and have to say it's incredibly good. Really delicious, and very reasonable.

seedlessgrape · 10/06/2011 16:31

So...... another 3lbs off which means a total of 11lbs in just over 3 1/2 weeks - have to say that I'm pretty pleased with that!

Good luck to everyone else!

AlfalfaMum · 10/06/2011 16:35

Well done seedless :)

adamschic · 10/06/2011 16:59

I'm feeling much better today, day 3, got on the scales this morning and wow lost about 4 pounds since I started 'cutting down' less than a week ago. Sticking attack out for today then will have salad with meat tomorrow.

Got some smoked salmon to look forward to tonight too.

Well done everyone, must admit I'm liking this diet now that I feel better.

grandmapunkers · 12/06/2011 21:46

Very new to this Dukan regimen - today is day 2 of attack but have managed ok so far. Managed to resist alcohol and food on night out yesterday but that was only day 1 so I suppose my motivation is at its highest. I get the feeling that I'm considerably older than most of you ladies (I'm 54), anyone out there of a similar age with experience from the older point of view. Post menopause etc. have really struggled with other diets since hysterectomy 6 years ago, will Dukan still be as effective as the book maintains? Looking forward to hearing any advice, thank you.

adamschic · 12/06/2011 22:36

Grandma, I'm 50 next month and still in the thick of M I finished attack stage yesterday after 4 days and have lost an amazing 7 pounds in a week, started my own diet last Saturday then switched to this as it was recommended by a friend who has lost over 2 stones and looks great. It really does work. I have started cruise today, I intend to eat PV for 3 days then face PP again.

Today, I have eaten the oat bran with skimmed milk, some bacon with the fat taken off, a quorn sausage, 2 egg scrambled, mushrooms and tomatoes, a muller light, chicken fillet with cabbage and broccoli and feel stuffed and worried I might have put it all back on again, hope not!

Looking forward to Ham Salad for lunch tomorrow with some healthy dressing.

I only wanted to loose 10 pound so will keep on cruise until I achieve this. I will definitely introduce carbs/cheese with trepidation and reckon I will keep up with a PP day long term. Am loving skimmed milk in place of semi skimmed so learning some good habits that I will keep up for ever.

DD has had to join me on it as I've shopped with Dukan in mind. She did 2 days PP as she is late teens but is loving the fact that she has lost a few pounds so quickly as she thought it was impossible for her to loose any weight. She is only slightly chubby round her tum and bum and has been for a few years, but hasn't managed to shift it before and she can see results already. So is keeping up the cruise rules and is happy to do a PP day each week.

I felt ill in the afternoon on Attack but could feel it getting better by day 3 and even kept it up a day more than I intended. Keep going on it and good luck. I ate some lean meat and had diet coke when I felt my energy depleting.

Oh and I've cheated by adding Vodka to diet coke in the evenings this weekend. Grin

adamschic · 12/06/2011 22:44

'lose' not 'loose'!

Chelseahandfull · 12/06/2011 23:09

I am 41 grandma, so would like to say "Oh no, I am FAR younger" but fear it would be a bit of an exageration......

divadoll · 13/06/2011 08:02

I'm 45 Grandma, so there are a lot more older ladies on here than you originally thought. Maybe we could get a board of pictures up somehow. The before and after shots of some of the successes would be a great incentive for us with similar body shapes!!?? Not sure of the limitations of this forum

sybilfaulty · 13/06/2011 19:52

I've been away and off the diet but have remained low carb ish and have maintained the 8lb I lost at the beginning.

Am going to Paris on Sat but am going to try to have a good week til then. I am not great on attack so am doing PP in the day with a few bits of salad in the evening. I am also going to take psyllium husk to help with my pooing issues. No alcohol either til the Eurostar. I'm only going for the day so can be back on the diet on Sunday.

Some great stories here. Well done everyone. You are very inspiring.

I am 41 as well Smile

Dilligaf81 · 13/06/2011 21:32

Ok Ladies I was away for 2 night with DH and although I did slip (a whole bottle of Archers, maltesers and a fry up with toast and pastries to name a few bits) I also had kfc for lunch and Tomorrows my 30th so i cant see me turning teh cake down.
Despite all this I have managed to keep 9lb's off so after tomorrow I will do 3 PO days (am away again this weekend) and then do cruise properly.

I must say I have recomended this diet to soo many people a few of which nnever stick to diets and everyone is doing fantastic - It's like finding the Holy Grail.

Only 10lb's to go.

eandz · 14/06/2011 09:43

Hello Ladies,

my sister and I will be joining you lot. We have to buy the book though, has anyone joined the Dukan Diet website thing? Do we really need to?

foreverondiet · 14/06/2011 09:55

don't join the website, its a con! my friend wrote about this in the daily mail....

eandz · 14/06/2011 10:01

Oh okay, won't join it then. How have you found the diet? and We're only on day two. Since we don't have the book yet, we ate whole meal toast with dinner last night, is this acceptable in the first phase?

adamschic · 14/06/2011 10:38

No carbs!!! So wholemeal toast is out in attack I'm afraid.

I've fallen out of love a little with Dukan. Realistically my loss in just over a week is about 4Lb, must have been water during attack and some weight came back as soon as I started cruise. However, I am following the principles of protein and lovely veg and salad, although cheated with a couple of custard cremes yesterday Grin. Intend to do PP Thursday every week and hoping to get another 4LB off before I need to get into swimwear and shorts.

AlfalfaMum · 14/06/2011 11:35

I had lost 5lb in 12 days, but bit disheartened now becasue I got my period and have gained 2lb again.. Waaaah! It's surely just water, and I'll suddenly shed it again in a couple of days :) I've been pretty good.
Been on it for 2 weeks now, combined with running. We're going on holiday in 2.5 weeks and I really want to look better in this years holiday photos, I didn't realise how much wieght I'd gained last year until I saw myself in photos :o

Chelseahandfull · 14/06/2011 11:55

I have been feeling a bit down about the diet for the last week or so but think is caused a mixture of - half term off the diet, so messing up numbers although snapped back to track pretty quickly - changing scales, where I know I have to take 2 off the implied loss, but somehow this has shaken my faith a bit - and the fact that I have just passed through a stone, so spent about 4 lbs worth thinking "nearly at the stone" and now am 2 lbs below but still feel tethered to the round stone number, if you see what I mean! Another 2.52 lbs and I'll be in single figure pounds for the new stone, which will hopefully cheer me.
nonetheless, am ticking down steadily - at 16 lbs loss now

adamschic · 14/06/2011 12:01

Bugger! Work mate just led me into temptation. Oh well that's lunch taken care of and at least I have already made my dinner as the salad is coming home with me.

Boo81 · 14/06/2011 12:33

Hello, can I join you all?

I'm on day 2 of Attack and (fingers crossed) am not finding it too bad so far. I think its because I've spent the last 2 weeks eating low carb anyway so I've only had to cut out the small amount of rice that I've eaten with dinner and the odd crumpet...along with the veggies of course!

My baby is now 3 months old so its time for me to get off my butt and do something about this excess weight. Plus I have a very pressing reason to shift weight fast. I'm a bridesmaid for my friend is 4 and a half weeks time. I'm hoping to have lost over a stone by then. Do you think thats reasonable? And then another stone by the following month.

So my stats are:

Starting weight (2 weeks ago): 13st 5lbs
Starting dukan weight (13/6/11): 13st 3lbs
Target weight for wedding (15/7/11): 12st
Target weight for 30th birthday (17/8/11): 11st

For exercise I'm doing the 30 day Shred 5-6 days a week and have done 11 days so far. Am also running/cycling every second day. As you can see I've only lost a very small amount of weight since starting the shred 2 weeks ago but I'm starting to fit into clothes that didn't fit me a few weeks ago so I must be losing inches (stupidly didn't measure myself though!).

Looking forward to learning more about Dukan from all you peeps who've been doing it much longer than me!

HeavyHeidi · 14/06/2011 14:05

well, there has been a lot of cheating here, have managed to maintain the weight loss though but really have to get more serious. But it's cherry season here! they're everywhere!

Well good news is that yes indeed I can fit into several things I couldn't before. And I bought some trousers in euro size 38 this weekend (German 38 though, so it's quite generous). I love shopping in Germany - here in France I feel like an elephant, all clothes are teeny-tiny. Go across the border to Germany and voila, you suddenly feel like a slim person! The funny thing is though that the local people here look pretty much the same on both sides. guess the shops just have to stock whatever head office tells them.

School reunion in ..oh bugger, a week!! I thought I had 2 to go...

AlfalfaMum · 14/06/2011 14:28

Boo81, Hello :)

There have been a few people on this thread who have lost a stone within that time, so I think your target is definitely achievable, especially with all that exercise you're doing!

grandmapunkers · 14/06/2011 22:53

thanks all you 'older' ladies for your words of encouragement. Day 4 of Attack nearly over and despite the temptation of 2 bar b ques at work haven't given in to the burgers or hotdogs so things going well so far. Absolutely rely on my oatbran pancakes for breakfast to give me a bit of stodge for the day. Got the hang of making a little go a long way. have to admit I'm a bit anxious about Cruise cos there seem to be so many reports of weightloss stagnating or even going back on and I think after all this effort (and 6 pounds lost so far) will devastated if it all goes to pot now - any advice out there for keeping up morale xxx

eandz · 14/06/2011 22:56

but i thought burgers and hotdogs are pure protein?
