Hey everyone,

Saw the last thread was nearly full so thought I would start a new one :)

Just waiting for my beef rogan curry to finish cooking. Smells AMAZING :) Thank god I am off attack now!

Yes diet coke ok at anytime.

Do try and limit consumption to one or maybe 2 cans a day though.

happystressedmum · 06/06/2011 15:14

Thank you! I was thinking no wine AND diet coke would be tough!

Cant wait to get started.

Oh lordy lordy, where did it all go wrong?? I find that I can be so good during the week but as soon as Friday comes it all goes to pot. It's customary in my office for a Friday lunch in the Wine Bar - wine, sandwiches, chips, etc - and that then sets me up for another glass or two when I get home from work, by which stage all my good intentions go out of the window. On Saturday morning I go back to oat bran and yoghurt for breakfast and usually a PV lunch but for the last two weekends we've been out to dinner on the Saturday night as well as lunch on both Sundays (Chinese, BBQ and French meals twice respectively) - I'm okay(ish) with the food (except for the Chinese of course!) but it's the damn wine which is my downfall.

Anyway, I weighed myself last Friday and I had put on one pound which isn't too bad bearing in mind that I'd made a pig of myself the previous weekend and of course it was half term last week with lots of outings. This weekend wasn't too horrendous but I was still displaying pig-like tendencies, so I've decided on damage limitation and from now on I shall do five days PP (Mon-Fri) then two days PV (weekends).

Sorry for babbling on so much but it's quite therapeutic getting it out in the open. It's probably like going to an AA class..... 'hello, my name is xxx and I'm rubbish at the Dukan Diet' !!!

Anyway, well done to all those fab losses by my fellow Dukanites!

Just to let you know, I made some really good "fake" chocolate brownies tonight. Using just oat bran, low fat chocolate powder , low fat yogurt and a little bit of sweetener. Really you need waitrose essentials low fat milk chocolate powder, as I tried with a different brand and they were too bitter.

Oat bran + chocolate powder (2:1 ratio)

Mix well.

Slowly add skimmed milk until firms a past. Basically until there is no dry ingredients but the mixture is a thick paste and holds it's shape when spooned onto a surface.

Put in baking tray and flatten out.

Cook in oven for 10 ish mins, untill it feels "springy to touch".

Whilst cooking add chocolate powder and sweeterner to yogurt and mix well. I just kept adding until it tasted nice!

Remove tray from oven and slice into strips, use a spatula to remove onto a plate.

Smooth over yogurt mix (fake icing!) and slice across, to give small squares.

Slightly separate squares and chill for a couple of hours.

Sorry measurements arent exact, but just keep adding to taste.
If you add too much milk (like I did) just add some mire oat bran to firm it up!

B4Beatrice · 06/06/2011 23:33
  • forms a paste. Not firms a past!
foreverondiet · 07/06/2011 07:14

B4, I might try, also can make muffins with oatbran, egg and yoghurt. I have just ordered some stevia to do baking with. I cheat a bit now with 85% chocolate, and can eat just one square. I also bought soya flour which I think is ok whilst in consolidation so must try baking with that.

foreverondiet · 07/06/2011 07:15

The low fat chocolate powder no doubt contains sugar though, if you use cocoa powder it will be more bitter...

happystressedmum · 07/06/2011 11:21

Sorry another question if anyone can help. I put my stats into the iphone App for Dukan and it gave me a plan which consisted of 2 days of attack, 128 days of perseverance and 183 days consolidation. I had thought to do attack for at least 5 days - I have about 2.5 stones to lose. Should I follow the plan on iphone app or should I go with 5 or 7 days of attack. Also I have a big weekend planned (2 birthdays one of which consists of wine tasting and a meal). I wonder if any of you on cruise has had wine over the weekend and then gone back to attack for a couple of days? I wasnt planning on drinking much but can hardly go to a wine tasting and then not taste wine. I have been putting off dieting for a while because we always have something on at the weekends but decided I really needed to go for it but wondered how you all get on with reality at times when it is not possible to stick to the regime. I am confident I can stick to the eating side of diet but wine does get in the way at weekends. Any help appreciated!

seedlessgrape · 07/06/2011 11:44

Happy, I have read on this thread about those who eat more or less what they like over the weekend and then go back to the plan on Monday and Tuesday and get back to where they started and I'm sure they will confirm this themselves.

As for how many days to do attack, I wanted to lose a total of 2 stone and I started with 5 days of attack (lost 7lbs). I think if you can do 5 days then it's worth it to see fast results and to give you the boost we all like to see at the start of a diet.

As for wine getting in the way at weekends... welcome to my club!

seedlessgrape · 07/06/2011 11:44

Beatrice, recipe sounds scrummy.... I think I may be tempted to try it. Thanks!

B4Beatrice · 07/06/2011 12:39

Forever is right. Low fat chocolate powder does contain sugar, damn!

Maybe try it with normal cocoa powder but add more sweeterner? Was unpalatable without!

happystressedmum · 07/06/2011 13:49

Thanks Seedlessgrape - feeling a tad better about the weekends! How long have you been doing it and how much have you lost (if you dont mind me asking) and re eating what they like over weekend do they just resume the plan ie cruise or consolidation or do they do an 'attack' again for a couple of days? Sorry for all of the questions! And thanks

foreverondiet · 07/06/2011 14:05

B4 I have ordered stevia from amazon and I am hoping that it will solve that problem - ie be suitable for adding to baking. I made great tuna & cottage muffins and would like to do sweet version with cocoa powder and greek yoghurt. Will probably use half soya flour and half oatbran although early in diet could make just with oatbran.

Have guests on wed and have made summer fruits frozen yoghurt. Did add some honey but only a couple of spoons in whole tub (plus a couple of bananas) - I want my guests to eat it not say oh its so sour!

seedlessgrape · 07/06/2011 14:16

Happy, I started on Monday 16th May and by the Friday (5 days later) I had lost 7lbs on Attack which I was really pleased with. The following week wasn't too good and I only lost 2lbs but I didn't stick to Cruise as well as I should have; my brain seemed to have difficulty comprehending the PP/PV stage! Last week was half term which is always difficult and, as I said above, I also had two weekends of drinking and eating for England, resulting in a gain of a pound last Friday. Therefore my total weight loss in 3 weeks is 8lbs. I shall weigh myself again on Friday and report in with, hopefully, some positive news!

happystressedmum · 07/06/2011 16:01

That still sounds fantastic though! Well done!

What did you find difficult re the cruise stage of pp/pv? I am still reading the book so only got to attack as yet so forgive all the questions?!

seedlessgrape · 07/06/2011 17:19

Firstly, I didn't have a book to refer to (and still don't) so I was relying on making it up as I went along, and secondly I would eat vegetables and then check later if they were on the allowed list! I know, I know!!

However, I have done more research (the internet is a good source of information, albeit it takes longer to find the proper details) and I think I'm now on top of it.

Watch this space.... :)

Chelseahandfull · 09/06/2011 11:16

Checking in. Expletive scales died after 20 years of good service, but hung on randomly just long enough for me to work out what the adjustment was to my new ones, so still have decent data - phew!

Having had a week off for half term (put on 2 lbs) I am now coming up on the end of week 5 and am down 14.25lbs down (don't forget the 0.25!). This puts me 34% of the way to target, but this was definitely the "easy" third, as the weight was relatively recent. From here on it is jurassic!

Good luck all, and bear up!

happystressedmum · 09/06/2011 11:24

Well done Chelsea that is amazing!! How much have you got to lose?

Seedless - on day 4 and yesterday I had 3 - yes 3 fruit flavoured yogurts fat free of course but thought that you could eat these freely. Then checked the book again sometime later and realised only 2 maximum of fruit flavoured yogurts - DOH!!!!! However I didnt have any on Monday and Tuesday so hopefully that will outweigh eating too many. Also - and sorry another question (although I am now further into the book) it says unlimted amounts of X Y Z but when you get to the recipes at the back of the book it says 225g of cottage cheese for eg or 1 slice of smoked salmon (I had about 5 yesterday) - thus I am a tad confused!!!! Is it truly unlimted or should we only have a little of what is on the list (I havent been overeating I dont think)?! Yesterday I had two boiled eggs for breakfast - really dont like Oatbran - is this essential??? Then three yogurts, 4 crabsticks and 1 fillet of peppered steak with some plain fat free yogurt. Thanks for all your help.

JetLi · 09/06/2011 12:00

Hi all - is anyone doing this & bf at the same time?

AlfalfaMum · 09/06/2011 13:07

JetLi The book says not to follow this - or any restrictive diet - while breastfeeding, because it could affect the baby's nutrition.

happystressedmum I try to stretch out the fruit yogurts by mixing a small amount with plain yogurt, fromage frais or cottage cheese.
I think oatbran is essential because, without it, constipation is very likely.

happystressedmum · 09/06/2011 13:49

Thanks Alfa, I will stretch them out I just hadnt realised until re-reading the unlimted of dairy non fat products that only two were recommended. I havent had any today and will likely have one tomorrow for breakfast. I havent really suffered from constipation yet although only on day 4 and have drunk LOADS of water so that may have helped! Thanks

adamschic · 09/06/2011 16:23

Hi, I'm on second day attack, only intend to do three days as haven't got a lot to lose. Just about to go to the supermarket to stock up on veggies and cannot wait until Saturday. Finding this really hard, how do you all keep it up? Feel quite ill and will be tucking into some smoked salmon and meat as soon as I've paid for it as I feel so weak and cannot function without food until I get home and make dinner.

Perhaps I'm not eating enough as I'm taking food into work so cannot graze. Does it get any better on cruise?

seedlessgrape · 09/06/2011 16:40

Just blown it as I had lunch with the boss in the wine bar. We shared a bottle of white (then had a large glass each 'for the road') - I did try to be careful with the food and avoided the usual, and easy, sandwich route, so it was a plate of bresaola with sundried tomatoes and parmesan shavings (the most Dukan-friendly item on the menu).

I have stuck to the diet rigidly since Thursday and I have a nice organic steak at home for my dinner tonight to be served with tomatoes and asparagus. I will make a concerted effort to up the ante on water to stop any fluid retention.

Hopefully it will mitigate any weight gain.......... but I shall let you all know tomorrow!!

seedlessgrape · 09/06/2011 16:41
  • since Monday, not Thursday!! LOL probably too much vino....!!
