New Thread for Lo Carbers/non-carbers, etc

Old lo-carb thread was 'too big' and wouldn't let me post this. It's for a almond meal pancake - I find one is really filling (I have it with total yoghurt and blueberries) and leave the mix in the fridge to have another next day.

Ingredients:
?1 cup almond flour
?2 eggs
?1/4 cup water (for puffier pancakes, you can use sparkling water)
?2 T oil
?1/4 teaspoon salt
?1 T sweetener
Preparation:
Mix ingredients together and cook as you would other pancakes. I like to use a nonstick pan with a little oil. The only real difference is that they won't "bubble" on top the same way as regular pancakes. Flip them when the underside is brown.

Yield: Six 4-inch pancakes

Nutritional Information: Each pancake has 1 gram effective carbohydrate, plus 2 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and 155 calories.

on edge i have a blog www.carbfree.wordpress.com if it is any help

also onedge, i fing the low carb pasta to be not so low carb that i would use it tbh.

have you set your carb allowance for each day. you really should if not, please tell us what it is and how much you are looking to lose

regarding bloating - i literally 'carb up' with puffy carb face when i go back to eating carbs ..which is every friday

today so far have been unusually not hungry, dh make bacon - literally i just had bacon - had about 6 rashers. that was lunch time.

i have the M&S chicken grill thing - thats on my blog all defrosted and everything - so even if i don't feel hungry, i'll eat the bugger

Tortington · 27/02/2011 19:10

oh i lost 1 lb of the three that the friday blow out cost me.

still happy though, i reckon i'll be at fridays weight by tues....then by this friday i will be in another 'stone' bracket iykwim - hopefully back to pre xmas weight

ilove · 27/02/2011 19:38

Tortington · 27/02/2011 19:59

Shock how can you not be converted you lost a stone in a week

a week

A WEEK

you lost a stone in a week

you should be on the front of a magazine or something

ilove · 27/02/2011 20:28

Beginners luck! I did LL a couple of years ago, this week I lost more than I did my first week on that - lol!

OnEdge · 27/02/2011 21:49

custardo It says on the pasta there are 5g of net carbs in 100g of pasta. Is that a lot ?

Tortington · 27/02/2011 22:06

idunno - wha'ts a 100grams is it a handful?

Tortington · 27/02/2011 22:11

just measured out 100grams - thats a decent portion isn't it - link please i want to read about this pasta sounds good

CointreauVersial · 27/02/2011 22:12

OnEdge - A standard pack of pasta is 500g, so I'd say 100g is about one serving.

Tortington · 27/02/2011 22:22

www.lowcarbmegastore.com/pasta-potato-and-pizza/dreamfields-pasta-fusilli-rotini

this is 56g per serving as are all the rest i can see on the site rAther than 100g

now it is low carb comparitavely but thats a mightily small portion in my books - however, it doesn't matter if you like it does it? as long as you dont go over your set carb limit for the day.

OnEdge · 27/02/2011 22:36

pasta

Tortington · 27/02/2011 22:45

yup its 56g per serving = 5g edge so 100 would be maybe 11 or 12 carbs it seems

OnEdge · 27/02/2011 22:47

yes i overlooked that, I just weighed 56g out, and i reckon ididn't even use that much because I have lost my appetite so bulk is no longer an issue. So would you use this then ? Do you ever eat the low carb choc ?

OnEdge · 27/02/2011 22:48

I don't think I could do it without using the low carb products, its too harsh Sad

Tortington · 27/02/2011 23:06

i use lowcarb megastore a lot

i bulk buy teh tortillas the mama lupe tortillas are bloody gorg. and i make quesedillas from the tortillas - see my blog - at least three times a week bloody gorg!

low carb bread as midgetly small as the slices are -got me through the first few months actually - i don't buy it now, but it was a lifesaver at the time when you desperatley want a butty or a piece of toast. it really helped me wean myself off bread.

i have bought the chocolate and the macaroons - but the thing is the sugar replacement product is called polyols or something else i can't quite remember - and it does stall your low carb weightloss if you eat a lot of it - i mean a piece or two here and there wont matter much - but i don't have that kind of willpower! again for an explaination about polyols see my blog homepage.

Tortington · 27/02/2011 23:07

i do buy the sugar free lollipops though becuase i do only each two of those at a time

Tortington · 27/02/2011 23:10

and have you seen that davinci syrup? its well expensive but when i was at my most militant - about this time last year 0 was even counting the carbs in sweeteners! and i bought that syrup - and hazelnut and cinnemon are nice for a change in coffee and it is carb free i still have a cholcoate and a banana on the shelf - i don't know what i was thinking - but its not nice in coffee i can tell you that.

i tried making banana ice cream with it last week and it wasn't so good tbh!

Tortington · 27/02/2011 23:12

ooh that has me thinking - i wonder if there is a hot chocolate low carb recipe with 90% cocoa. cream and that chocolate syrup?

am off to investigate!

OnEdge · 27/02/2011 23:59

im wondering if i can carry on with this, i feel a bit sick Sad

OnEdge · 28/02/2011 00:00

how do i choose the right low carb diet ? there are so many out there. i am just cutting out/reducing carbs at the moment.

CointreauVersial · 28/02/2011 00:06

OnEdge - you don't have to "choose" a diet, just carry on cutting out the obvious carb baddies and substituting with extra protein and you won't go far wrong.
