New Thread for Lo Carbers/non-carbers, etc

WhereamI · 07/02/2011 16:31

Old lo-carb thread was 'too big' and wouldn't let me post this. It's for a almond meal pancake - I find one is really filling (I have it with total yoghurt and blueberries) and leave the mix in the fridge to have another next day.

Ingredients:
?1 cup almond flour
?2 eggs
?1/4 cup water (for puffier pancakes, you can use sparkling water)
?2 T oil
?1/4 teaspoon salt
?1 T sweetener
Preparation:
Mix ingredients together and cook as you would other pancakes. I like to use a nonstick pan with a little oil. The only real difference is that they won't "bubble" on top the same way as regular pancakes. Flip them when the underside is brown.

Yield: Six 4-inch pancakes

Nutritional Information: Each pancake has 1 gram effective carbohydrate, plus 2 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and 155 calories.

Good news about the clinic timba! You really are on a roll.

Lost nothing again. But my belly is much flatter. This is what I remember from last time - huge weight loss first week, not much the next but began to see the difference on my body - shame there is such a long way to go.

Just keep on keeping on.

I am wondering if the sugar-free mints aren't helping - I tend to eat them by the packet Blush. I'll get some gum instead. Also very dry mouth which suggests I need more water still.

FreeButtonBee · 24/02/2011 09:57

Right, was in a v bad mood yesterday and was almost for quitting this diet. I am over it today without too much damage on the eating front. Feeling more positive with the weather being a bit brighter too. Weight is the same and if we ignore last week's freakishly low numbers, they are pretty good.

Piece of cheese for breakfast b/c I was in a hurry and forgot my yog. Will pop out for an early lunch at 11.30 and then pick up a snack for early evening then too as I am off to Pilates at 8. Dinner tonight is roast chicken legs with cabbage of some sort - either braised or baked with bacon and cheese.

systemsaddict · 24/02/2011 10:13

custardo you speak truth about the greasy spoon sausages. I used to get away with eating them when I was maintaining, pre-kids, but it's different when you're actually trying to lose. I've had them a few times over the past fortnight and I think they are probably one of the main culprits for my stall.

ASDA delivery coming this morning and I have gone overboard on the clean meats, so planning a lovely clean week or two and hopefully get back to losing.

Orm I can't do sugar-free mints or gum at all, they cause me massive cravings, and I get v. paranoid about bad breath. The best thing I have found is this - retardex spray - it tastes strong, rather than sweet, so it doesn't trigger me, and really works to keep your breath fresh. It's dear but one spray lasts a long time.

Thanks systems. I will look out for it.

Ha! Sal, funny you should say that about your sister, that's exactly what kicked me off last summer!

For the last few years we've gone on holiday together - I've always been the slimmer one, but she started a major diet and fitness spree last January, while I sat watching my muffin-top getting bigger and bigger. It dawned on me that the only whale by the pool that summer was likely to be ME!

I'm not competetive at all, except where my sister's concerned, you too, it would seem, Sal! You'll knock 'em dead by the summer, I'm sure.

Ormirian · 24/02/2011 13:12

Ha! I have a friend who lives in the next town. We see each other perhaps once a month and we lose weight in shifts Grin Atm she is the slim one and I'm the porker, a few years back it was the other way round, and a few years back the other way round again. Neither of us say anything definite about the competition but it's there underneath. I am seeing her on Friday!

FreeButtonBee · 24/02/2011 13:12

I am glad I don't have a sister! I hate competition around weight loss.

Had burrito checkien salad for lunch - v good. Yum yum yum. Have got my order down to a fine art now. Medium salsa, plenty of sour cream, cheese and no jalepenos!

It's amazing the difference a bit of sunshine makes. I feel like a different person today.

Ormirian · 24/02/2011 13:16

Dh did something wonderful with chicken breasts on Monday! Grin

Cut breasts in to large strips, fried them in butter with a little bacon, added garlic, chillies and ginger. Until they were beginning to brown. Served over green salad. Very nice. I reckon the salad needed some sort of dressing - maybe lemon and olive oil - but he thought not.

Sal - hey, if it helps that's great.

I think because I don't have a sister, I have always really struggled with understanding sister-sister relationships. It's just outside my experience - am much more comfortable drinking beer and bantering with the boys, avoiding all topics of a personal nature!

CointreauVersial · 24/02/2011 13:23

The competetiveness between me and my sister is never mentioned, though.......

I honestly think she only had children because I did. Shock

twins will be eighteen on tuesday eeek! but i will save my cake for friday

CointreauVersial · 24/02/2011 20:22

Bloody hell, when's pancake day??? Just realised it's about now. Did I miss it already? I was prepared to cheat for it, too.

I'm all alone for tea today, so having some fresh sardines with chilli and lemon I picked up in the "reduced" section in Sainsbo's (love a bargain). Will probably stink the house out, but who cares?

Blimey, Custy, 18yo twins! I have the whole teenage horror to look forward to.

Phew - Friday! Thank the Lord.

Right, yesterday went well - cumin and corainder chicken legs with lettuce, scallion and feta salad (ie leftovers!) was very nice for dinner. Had one glass red wine and some dark choc.

Weight 10 6.25 which is not bad. Although I am heavier than last week's lowest weights, I think this is probably a more accurate weight as it gives me losing an average of a 1lb a week since mid-Jan. Slow but steady.

Clothes all fitting really well at the moment and some are veering to the 'too big' side of life! Which hasn't happened in a very long time.

FellatioNelson · 25/02/2011 10:27

What is chicken curry bake? Confused

I'm planning on having Atkins protein shakes and vodka between now and Tuesday. Husband away and don't want to cook.

(who said low-carbing was bad for you? Grin)

Well done that strawberry! Grin

Do you have more to lose or are you just going to be maintaining?

FreeButtonBee · 25/02/2011 11:34

That's fab Sal! 3 stone is amazing.

I am hungry - but the sun is shining (ish) so that has cheered me up. Salad of some sort for lunch then might buy some steak for dinner. Yummy!

notquitenormal · 25/02/2011 11:40

I've had the worst couple of weeks. 1 week off the wagon and, just as I was getting back to it, I got a D&V bug and could only face eating plain buttered toast.

I seem to have come out the other side now (and am the same weight as before it started going wrong) but I'm so run down and fed up. I'm really in a place where I just can't be arsed.

Ah well, keep plugging on.
