New Thread for Lo Carbers/non-carbers, etc

Old lo-carb thread was 'too big' and wouldn't let me post this. It's for a almond meal pancake - I find one is really filling (I have it with total yoghurt and blueberries) and leave the mix in the fridge to have another next day.

Ingredients:
?1 cup almond flour
?2 eggs
?1/4 cup water (for puffier pancakes, you can use sparkling water)
?2 T oil
?1/4 teaspoon salt
?1 T sweetener
Preparation:
Mix ingredients together and cook as you would other pancakes. I like to use a nonstick pan with a little oil. The only real difference is that they won't "bubble" on top the same way as regular pancakes. Flip them when the underside is brown.

Yield: Six 4-inch pancakes

Nutritional Information: Each pancake has 1 gram effective carbohydrate, plus 2 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and 155 calories.

Not a great night chez FBB. My dad was here for a once in a decade visit so we shared 2 bottles of White wine. Had mussels in White wine and garlic for dinner... But with chips. Also had rocket and tomato salad. So about a 5 overall. But all home cooked so no hidden sugar but not the best in the world. Who knows what the scales will say tomorrow!

FreeButtonBee · 17/02/2011 23:19

Orm. That doesn't count. You didn't do it deliberately so just forget about itbseides you were running

FreeButtonBee · 18/02/2011 09:59

Bit of a head on me today. Thank god my boss works from home on Fridays.

down a lb this morning, which is nice but I am prob dehydrated so going to main line the water today.

Out for dinner with DH and a friend tonight - I am finding that embracing fish is the way forward with eating out and not feeling deprived so will aim for some of that tonight.

The rest of the weekend is looking quite quiet so I will try to be good and not drink too much.

Ah does that mean that I can accidentally eat chocolate and it won't count? Grin

Ormirian · 18/02/2011 11:50

Re alcohol. I have stocked up with gin and diet tonic and some lovely dry cava. They are IME the lowest carb drinks.

I love beer and have 2 bottles of Badgers Golden GLory waving to me from the cupboard but they are staying firmly where they are for the moment!

BecauseImWorthIt · 18/02/2011 14:03

Has anybody got a really big box?

Ormirian · 18/02/2011 15:17
Grin

Dh bought some golfing shoes yesterday. They came in quite a big box. Will that do?

CointreauVersial · 18/02/2011 15:35

BIWI - can I share your box? My Valentines-and-birthday week is shaping up to be a monumental carb-a-thon.

On Wednesday night, one of my friends had a few of us round for dinner - lovely thai curry and rice. Preceded by crisps and dips. Followed by profiteroles. All washed down with a disgraceful amount of wine, considering it was mid-week.

I felt like a fuzzy-headed zombie all day yesterday, kept yawning and walking into things, but roused myself for a slab of birthday cake mid-afternoon. Then a trip to Pizza Express with the family in the evening for some more carbs (mmm...I love a good pizza, though).

I tell you what, I noticed the effects straight away, though! I now feel bloated round the middle, and I'm wondering if the zonked feeling all day on Thursday could have something to do with the carbs, and not just a stonking hangover.

It's always good to focus on some of the DISadvantages of eating carbs, rather than thinking about what you're missing out on, don't you think??

I'm going to try and do something creative with chicken tonight, a parmesan/almond/linseed crusty thing, perhaps? Will report back!

Ormirian · 18/02/2011 15:38

I have an aubergine and some mozzarella so will be making an aubergine parmigiani tonight. And breaking open a bottle of cava - first booze since Sunday!

FreeButtonBee · 18/02/2011 15:54

Still feeling dozy here this afternoon. Had sushi for lunch - I needed something with carbs to help the hangover and it seemed like a not too bad option. 21g of carbs in total but plenty of fat and protein too.

Also had a large piece of cheese as a snack. Trying to drink lots of water too but slightly struggling on that front.

Really want to go home and snooze tonight but can't grrr.

Oh dear, lots of wagon falling. Be strong people, or if you are off the wagon, be as sensible as you can. One bag of crisps isn't a disaster - 4 might be!

Will i'm still on the wagon but not shifting any weight! what is wrong with me?

I have ditched all nuts and take a 2L bottle of water to work so I can't cheat on the water drinking.

I am even being tempted by meat.

There I said it. Yes I am a desperately fat vegitarian.

What makes it worse is dh has lost loads in just a few weeks - he reckons a couple of stone Envy

hmmm toast. Thanks for the werthers tip Sal, found some last night and they are lovely Smile

B: normally at work so mini quiche (eggs, cream, cheese) or flax muffins.

L: salad with leftovers

D: cauli mash & quorn sausage, shep pie with quorn mince & cauli mash. celariac, chipped or dauphinoise

snacks: black olives, cheese, quorn ham.

drinks: water, decaf coffee with double cream

I have had some chocolate but its always 80% plus dark stuff. (and not everyday!)

must be in ketosis as im never hungry, sometimes get an 'empty' feeling.

In summary I have not had a proper coffee or any booze this year. I have not lost a thing in february, just the stone i lost in January.

I can't be at my natural weight! although I always get stuck at 14st regardless of diet Confused

I am going to ditch the quorn and see if that helps. oh and the only exercise i have done is to rewatch some of the shred dvd. I am not mentally ready for it yet Blush

frazzledblob · 18/02/2011 18:23

wow i would kill for 6lbs right now! well done

Brilliant, Orm!

Last night was out with some old colleagues, for a Chinese. But that's in the box now.

Today I have been good - hard boiled egg for breakfast and corned beef with a little coleslaw for lunch.

Tonight is curry night, so I'll order my usual - curry with no rice!

And then tomorrow, I'm on my cookery course - learning how to make desserts. So I will need another big box for the rest of this week.

Normal service will have to resume on Monday.
