2011 Paul Mckenna

Deafworm · 01/01/2011 11:16

Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

i think i;ll have ago at it-off to find the cheapest deal. once ive received it through the post i'll join this blog!

Deafworm · 01/01/2011 12:18

glad to have you enimod, really hope it works well for you, i'm planning to re read the book once my little madams darlings are in bed and start the 90 day journal tonight, aiming to be at least a stone and a half lighter by the end of that!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 01/01/2011 18:41

Ive done it before for a few weeks and it worked wonders for me. Going to start on 2/1/11 (after DHs birthday, my last splurge).

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 01/01/2011 18:43

Ive done WW/SW/ Rosemary Connelly and out of them all, this one suts me best. I have the book, the 90 day journal & the CD already loaded on my MP3 player all ready for Wednesday :)

Lastyearsmodel · 01/01/2011 18:47

HowTo Can you just drag the file off the CD onto your mp3 machine? . I need to get back on this but will have to listen on headphones as DD2 still in our room. Well, more like clamped to my boob most of the night.

enimod · 01/01/2011 19:11

ha ha- lastyearsmodel you sound like me- i dont even have an mp3 player but i do have a 14 month old clamped to my boob most of the night! i am planning on doing it whilst he naps-currently in my arms too. i have alot to tackle ths year-weight and sleep!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 01/01/2011 20:01

My mobile is my MP3 player lol. DH managed to get the track from my CD to my mobile. not sure hwo he did it! Its so I can listen to it in bed at night & not disturb DH.

Good luck to both of you - we can do this :)

Lastyearsmodel · 01/01/2011 21:21

enimod ooh, you're not even getting naptime to yourself - that's rough. The tiredness and the short temper that gives me make it hard for me to tune in to hunger. I need to find ways to beat the eating I do due to frustration with the DCs and the late afternoon sleepy slump I get.

Who are these people who can't keep weight on while bf? I dream of being like that. From my murky memory, I lost weight when my first two DCs got to about 1yo but really struggle til then.

HowTo I need to get DP on the case. I guess I feel a bit self-conscious about enlisting his help; would rather do it all in secret.

At the moment I daren't even weigh myself as I know it would really bring me down. I'm trying to think 'hey, it's just a number...' but I know it would be a rather large number. Smile

Need to reread the book and start the journal. And do the CD/mp3 thing. And get a full night's sleep.

CameronCook · 01/01/2011 22:47

I need to do this again - I've got the book but managed to break my CD so going to have alook on itunes see if I can buy another one.

Deafworm · 02/01/2011 09:22

nice to have a few others aboard, i did wonder for a while yesterday if it was just me!I started yesterday and it went quite well, overate a bit at tea time but in general did quite well, got in some dancing too (dh was on days at work yesterday so we didnt do the big meal celebration type thing, we did disney films and wii games!)aiming to go running today but really really nervous, need to bite the bullet and go i think....

lastyearsmodel, is the figure of the weight actually that important to you? if its more about being happy in your skin maybe just look at your clothes size and pick one you think you want to end up at? I posted my weight at the top as i know i have a long way to go but the only reason the weight itself is important to me is that i want dc4 and midwives look at weight (and in my case panic!) as for the cd idiots guide from my dh (i had to ask too so including myself in that)

firstly import the cd into your windows media player (rip)/itunes(import)

plug in your phone or mp3 and tell the programme to sync or open the files for music and the mp3 player and drag and drop the files into them

its a bit generic and can probably help a bit more with specific details if thats not useful Grin

Lastyearsmodel · 02/01/2011 16:20

Thanks for your DH's idiot guide - I'll give it a go.

Numbers - you're right, I am hung up on the numbers even though I know all the reasons not to be. But it would be good to have a way to measure success that shows faster than dropping a clothes size. I mean, you can find out within a week whether you've lost a pound or two.

That's the worst thing about pregnancy, imo - knowing your weight and BMI and getting treated accordingly (tested for diabetes, etc).

If I were younger I might be thinking about DC4 too, but am too old and ugly and tired now. Also, I wonder if I stayed slim during and after pregnancy whether that would make it all feel easier. I feel I've aged more in the last 4 years than in the previous 35 before that.

Are you definitely up for no. 4? Would it be soon?

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 02/01/2011 16:23

PMcK suggests you dont weigh at all, just go by how you feel. Im going to follow his rule about weighing in at least a fortnight apart, longer if I can resist :)

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 02/01/2011 16:23

BTW I lost 11 lbs in the first 3 weeks of following the Golden Rules last time Grin

Lastyearsmodel · 02/01/2011 16:27

Yeah, I lost 4lbs in the first fortnight last time. 11lbs is amazing!

Maybe weighing is unnecessary torture for me Smile.

Has anyone read any other intuitive eating books? Geneen Roth, Susie Orbach, Beyond Chocolate, etc. Would love to know what others think about some of the things they cover.

Deafworm · 02/01/2011 20:32

hi last year hope it helped? if you need a bit more than clothes sizes could you do measurements? yes i think baby number 4 is pretty likely, i have had mild pre eclampsia twice so midwives panic at me, but i didnt get it last time and i labour easily so they assume im much higher risk than i generaly think i am, i monitor my bp between appointments etc and am the first to shout if theres an issue but still get treated like a silly child and the weight issue seems to be just another stick to beat me with, so we will remove that issue and with a pe clear pregnancy in the middle and a simple delivery i may get some peace next time Grin. my last midwife actually asked me why i had got pg again at my booking in!

i'm 26 and i feel the same, i dont think it has much to do with the age you start, kids age you, theyre hard work! i dont seem to gain weight when im pregnant its almost like enforced paul mckenna my body goes into shutdown on me and i cant overeat, i just need to make it stay that way after the baby arrives! havent read any of those books, would you recommend them?

HowToLookGoodGlaikit wow i lost 7lb the first fortnight last time, not sure how im doing this time hoping for a decent loss i guess but trying not to focus in too close.

haven't done too amazingly today, need to slow down my eating more and concentrate a bit, didn't get to the running either DH kindly left my headphones at work yesterday, he is on nights tonight though so should be bringing them home tomorrow!

so when are you all starting or is anyone already going?

ppeatfruit · 03/01/2011 10:06

As an old hand at paulMc;i lost a stone and half in 2 months and with help of a fab belly exercise am keeping MOST of it off! IMO it's the best diet.

ppeatfruit · 03/01/2011 10:09

See our thread all are welcome!!

MaybeTomorrow · 03/01/2011 19:37

Hi there, can I join? I've just ordered the book and cd and it should arrive by the end of the week.

I am 5ft 8 and currently 10st 12 and want to lose just over a stone. I've been really lazy since having my DD 18 months ago.

So can I join please?

Xx

Deafworm · 03/01/2011 20:01

OP posts:
MaybeTomorrow · 03/01/2011 21:18

Hi deafworm and thank you!

Any tips about what to expect from the book are gratefully received! I generally have fairly good willpower (had to have when pg with DD as I had gestational diabetes) so if that is required I will try and pull some out of my head!

Good luck everyone! X

Deafworm · 04/01/2011 09:29

the biggest thing is to really enjoy what you eat, eat what you really want, eat slowly and consciously, if you do that it will be easier to notice getting full (and if you are anything like me you will be shocked at how little it takes) the cd helps i think, i listen every night as im going to sleep and aim to right through the 90 days and i hope by then it will just be habit

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 04/01/2011 09:30

maybe all you have to do is re educate yr eating habits eg. eat slowly and consciously and stop when you're full; Google P.M. I Can Make You Thin

MaybeTomorrow · 04/01/2011 14:54

Thanks guys. That sounds like my sort of diet! I work from home so will listen to the cd everyday on my laptop.

Looking forward to being able to be a bit more involved when my book and cd arrive.

Xx

Lastyearsmodel · 04/01/2011 17:03

Hi all,

Deafworm Yes, they're all good books, esp. if you're interested in working out why you overeat. PM overcomes the overeating with the hypnotherapy and the exercises, plus the tapping, but doesn't go into why a person overeats. His system works whether you know why or not, so I guess it's a personal thing as to whether you delve any deeper. I am prone to overthinking things... Smile>

NEED to sort the mp3 out.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 04/01/2011 19:53

I will be officially joining tomorrow! I have everythign all ready and I am actually looking forward to it as I felt sooo positive last time I did it :)
