Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

After 5 days of PMK I'm feeling so much better, lighter and I'm sure I've lost some weight. It's so tempting to weigh myself now but I'm going to try to wait for 2 weeks as PMK advises. It's been really really easy, I can't believe it. Looking forward to the webchat next week.

Lastyearsmodel - I've put the CD onto my i-pod and it's so convenient. I listen to it in bed just before I go to sleep. I've had the book and CD a while and did have a go a few years ago, but found it difficult to listen regularly as I don't have a CD player in my bedroom. I think listening regularly is really making a difference. Also, this thread is really helping. It's great to hear how how everyone else is doing.

ppeatfruit · 07/01/2011 09:36

YAAY lastyearsmodel I'm sooo excited!!Try googling him that's a help as well.

Lastyearsmodel · 07/01/2011 12:34

Does anyone else feel their hunger differently at different times of day?

In the morning mine feels like 'classic' hunger - pangs in my stomach, light-headed if I let it go too far - but in the afternoons it's more confusing. It can feel like a stomachache or a tired feeling all over or bad temper. Then in the evening it's more like a normal empty stomach feeling.

tessieb · 07/01/2011 14:03

Can't say I have, Lastyearsmodel.

I really like the way I can eat what I want when I'm hungry, but am being careful that I'm actually hungry not just eating for the sake of it.

ppeatfruit · 07/01/2011 14:48

yes lastyears that sometimes happens when i start back on it more consciously (like now after xmas) I time my last meal if more than 2 hours Iam really hungry!

tessieb · 07/01/2011 14:54

Today I've had a small breakfast and lunch and 2 other snacks - yes, I was hungry, ate consciously etc. I find that doing this I seem to eat little and often.

However, I'm at home this week and go back to work next week where I can only eat at set break times. I'm wondering how this will fit in with PMK? If I'm not hungry and don't eat during my lunch break, then it will be at least 2.5 hours before I will get the opportunity to eat again. How do you all manage this if you can only eat at certain times?

ppeatfruit · 07/01/2011 15:07

Can you have a drink of water between yr breaks? I would eat at the breaktimes 'cos they sound natural enough and you will probably feel hungry.

tessieb · 08/01/2011 14:28

Yes ppeatfruit, I'll have to make sure I do have something to eat when I have the chance at work, maybe instead of a large lunch try to have a smaller lunch and a couple of snacks.

I went out for a meal last night with a friend who is naturally slim. I noticed that she ate slowly and stopped when she'd had enough. Even though I'd had a few glasses of wine I managed to do the same! After the meal I just felt comfortably full, not stuffed as I normally would! Grin

ppeatfruit · 08/01/2011 17:10

Yup you've got it! Congrats! I do find that wine is not helpful though.Sad

tessieb · 08/01/2011 19:28

Maybe not, but it is very very nice..... Grin

Does anyone else feel like they've lost some weight yet?

MaybeTomorrow · 08/01/2011 19:42

Hi all,

I hope that you're all having a 'successful' weekend so far.

I haven't started my 90 day journal yet but have started to use the rules. Although I do have lots of questions and things that I'm not sure about, but since I'm using my phone to type this, I will wait until I'm back on the laptop on Monday.

I am picking up on all of your tips though! DH is particularly pleased that I felt full early with the party food. He's finishing it off now!

Xx

Deafworm · 09/01/2011 08:11

well done tessieand maybe, sounds like you are both off to a good start. I do tessie but i think its actually the feeling of not being constantly full making me feel lighter in my stomach if that makes sense? im hoping i have lost some weight of course.

really struggling not to weigh in today as i had a night of grazing on 'bad' foods which in the past would probably have been a binge but im fairly certain i didnt do too badly, probably ate to full rather than pleasantly satisfied but definitely not to stuffed but that old idea in my head is telling me 'bad' foods equals weight gain, determined not to weigh, day 8 now and wi is day 15 so not long to go!

hope everyone else is off to a good start today?

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 09/01/2011 09:07

I have found that the 'grazing 'itself stops weight loss on P.M. even if it's healthy food sadly.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 09/01/2011 21:06

I'm so terrible, I havent started yet Blush I am however, just about to go up & listen to the CD right now :)

Hope everyone is enjoyying it so far!

Deafworm · 10/01/2011 15:56

how did you get on with the cd?

ive not had a very good day on it today, ate far too much at lunchtime so have stopped and written it off, no point beating myself up for it. quite like the leg trainer though been doing it every day and getting better at it, no great difference yet but im only about 4 days in. starting to get a little nervous about weihing in at the weekend with a couple of not great days under my belt but determined to work that bit harder and slow down to do well, just need someone to kick me everytime i forget! how is everyone else doing?

OP posts:
tessieb · 10/01/2011 18:31

I feel like I'm doing ok, but it can be hard to eat slowly when you're hungry! I managed to resist nibbling as I was getting tea ready then think I ate a bit too quickly as I was hungry. I think that overall I'm eating much less and do seem to feel full sooner.

I've been very good at listening to the CD as it's been part of my bedtime routine for the last week. I listen on my i-pod just before I go to sleep. I usually doze off and miss most of it but PMK says in his book that's fine as the message still gets across. Does anyone else nod off whilst listening?

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 10/01/2011 19:54

Day 1 has been fab. Feeling happy & ready to do this!!

I too listen to the CD in bed on my MP3 player, it relaxes me a lot and I find it works better when I am slightly sleepy. I think I nod off, but I always wake when he does the countdown at the end.

Deafworm · 10/01/2011 20:09

i always fall asleep listening to it tessie, ive found its great when i cant sleep! i do notice a difference when i dont put it on for a while so i guess it works.

managed to improve at teatime but im similar to you tessieb in that i leave it that bit to long and then eat a bit too quick, definitely something to work on, its why i like the 90 day diary though its gives me time to learn without feeling i need to be perfect from day 1, leads up quite nicely to dh going away as well, think i hit day 90 about a week before he leaves

Morning all,

Sorry that I didn't post yesterday but my day was scuppered slightly.

I work full-time (40 overs over 4 days) and have a CM that minds DD on a Monday and Thurdsay and my SIL who has her on Tuesday and Wednesday. Yesterday at 6.45am I had a text from the CM to say that both of her children had come down with a D&V bug overnight and that even though she would still take my DD, it was up to me. Obviously I said no! So I had to take a day leave instead (although normally they're cool about me trying to work still with her around, but it was an excuse to spend another 1-2-1 day with her which I love! Grin).

So, even though I did stick to the rules (even with lunch out with my Dsis and my DD at a little Pizza place in the town!) I still didn't get chance to listen to the CD. So, that's my next job when I finish my breakfast this morning.

I'm lucky because I work from home so I can listen to it without a problem at some point during each day on my laptop. I will then get into the routine of listening to it on my days off, while DD has her nap.

So, I'm making up for my lack of posting today, this one will be an essay. Can you come back with your views/suggestions on my queries/concerns? I bet I sound like a right wuss!! Blush

I'm sure that most of you ladies have had to deal with all these things, so I'm sure you'll have lots of hints and tips for me.

So firstly, nightmare day on Friday. I went shopping with DD. We'd had breakfast then showered and dressed, sorted out the dogs and left. By this time though it had been a couple of hours since breakfast. Got to the shops and within half an hour, realised that I was really hungry and getting more so (almost at the stage of shaking with hunger). But I hadn't been prepared and taken any snacks and didn't want to eat in the middle of the shop like a mad lady! Of course only mad in the sense that I was in the middle of ASDA and would no doubt have started in the bakery section and worked my way around the store.

So I cut my shopping trip short and went home. I did manage (just about) to slow down my eating when I did get back and still managed to stop when I was full.

So how do you combat hunger when you're out and unprepared?

Another scenario. Because DD is only 18 months, we're currently trying to make sure that she has regular family meals at regular times. I work from 7am - 5pm and dinner is at that time. Luckily DH does early shifts (5am - 1.30pm) so can cook the meal! But I'm finding that I'm not always hungry now at 5pm, especially if I've been hungry a couple of hours before and had a snack. So how do you keep regular mealtimes on this diet? Because it's only the three of us, it's not really fair on DH to say, 'you have dinner with DD, I'll have mine later' when we're trying to encourage social family meals. Has anyone else faced this? Is there a rough pattern that anyone can recommend (like eating every two hours) so that I can plan my eating around the final meal of the day?

I think that's probably enough to go on for now, otherwise none of you will need the CD to fall asleep!! Blush

Thanks everyone!

Sounds like all are doing really well.

Howtolookgood, well done on your first day!
Deafworm, my problem is the other way, I'm still never sure if I'm full so I end up leaving food on my plate, thinking that I should be... Having said that, I'm rarely hungry again that evening so I guess I must be full. I wish my stomach would say something to let me know!

xxx

Hi Maybe, I don't have any wise advice, other than experimenting a bit with your timing of your lunch to try to make sure you are hungry by dinner. Or else sit with them, eat a token amount and keep your plate to warm up again when you really are hungry.

I'm just calling in with a quick boast. No, I haven't lost an impressive amount of weight or anything, but yesterday I had a bad day at work, and I went in to a shop and gave myself permission to buy a bottle of wine and any chocolate etc I fancied. And then I realized that I didn't really fancy anything, so I just went home and had an M&S risotto instead. There was no willpower involved - that's what I really wanted. I'm marvelling.

I got the 90-day journal from Amazon yesterday, second-hand. The previous owner had filled in the first and second pages and then stopped. Now I'm wondering who she was and why she gave up....She was about 4 stone lighter than I am, so I don't think she really needed it anyway.

ppeatfruit · 11/01/2011 10:37

maybe; i find that when wearing my tight jeans I can FEEL full quickly!! When going out i always take a bottle of water and i keep a small plastic pot of seeds etc. in my bag.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 11/01/2011 11:47

Is everyone remembering the live webchat with Paul tomorrow night? Im trying to think of an interesting question!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 11/01/2011 11:50

I carry a cereal bar in my handbag in case I get hungry when I am out! I love them anyway, and they are handy for when the hunger creeps up on you.

In the afternoons, I only snack enough to take the edge off my hunger, so that I am about level 5 most of the time (not hungry, not satisfied/full either) so that I am hungry at dinner time. I am then usually a bit peckish before bed, so will have a biscuit or an oatcake & cheese which then tides me over til breakfast.

ppeatfruit · 11/01/2011 13:39

How do you get the webchat up Howto? it's my b\day tomorrow so will be out Bxxxxr.

LolaLadybird · 11/01/2011 14:16

Hi All. Can I join you? I've done PM before and always been successful although never stuck at it for long enough to see serious weight loss. I would like to drop a couple of dress sizes though and PM seems to be the only thing I can stick to these days. Years ago I lost weight with WW but I just enjoy my food too much to stick to such a prescriptive way of eating. At least with PM, no food is off limits as long as you follow the rules.

I have the book and CD but no idea what the journal is - is it helpful?

I'm going to get DH to talk me through getting the CD on to the ipod today (another slight technophobe here!) as I think that will really help. I've never bothered before which has meant I've never really got into a proper routine with it. I'm glad it still works if you fall asleep because I never managed to stay awake all the way through yet (or maybe I was awake, just hyptonised and didnt' realise ... spooky!)Smile
