Hi all

I wondered if anyone else was planning to follow Paul mckenna this year and lose their weight?

im currently 16st13 and intend to end the year a fit toned 10st. im a bit hit and miss with following the golden rules but when i do i have seen results so from today i will follow it and get the results i want.

as well as the weight loss with paul mckenna i intend to

Beardo the just dance 2 fitness thing every day till my husband (RAF) flies out to the middle east around april

Bear do the couch to 5k plan and run race for life this year

Bearstart the 30 day shred when dh goes away and repeat it till he comes home (approx 4 months)

I also have one of those magic leg trainers coming on home approval so will have a play with that and see if its worth keping, apart from that i will reassess my fitness in august when he gets home and come to some decisions on how to go forward with that then but for now these seem like reasonable goals, especially when they're on top of really following the golden rules.

so anyone else following 'the rules' this year and going to join me with their aims?

the book for anyone curious about it, though i got mine from my local works type bookshop for less than £5 thats less than one weeks ww/sw/etc subs to try it out and its honestly the most sensible weightloss plan ive ever looked at

Hi girls

Sounds like we're all doing well and starting to get the hang of the Paul McK method of weight loss! Smile

I weighed in today and have lost 6lbs since NYD which I am really pleased with. I am getting back into the swing of the McKenna way, I work in a school so was also wondering how my breaks would work out with eating etc. I have found I eat more at first break at about 11am and then at lunch it's about 6 mouthfuls and I'm full! Got some funny looks tipping most of my chicken curry away today!

To the poster who got 'caught short' shopping in Asda, I must admit I would have gone for the mad lady bit! Considering people apparently shop in their PJs these days a little snack while shopping wouldn't fuss me too much Wink I would have been straight to the bakery section for a pain au chocolate or some of that hot chicken all supermarkets seem to do these days....I think that is the beauty of this 'diet', you can eat anything and there is plenty to chose from at Asda!!

Well done everyone anyway and welcome to lolaladybird

Deafworm · 11/01/2011 17:51

hi lola i find the journal helpful but also its part of the updated book which also tackles self sabotage here

well done muriel im getting nervous about weighing in but determined to wait till day 15! sounds like you are getting right into it.

much better today, didnt eat much at all till teatime, wasnt hungry, presumably after eating too much yesterday, had a small portion of tea and will see how tonight goes i guess

I've just followed the link Deafworm and read the reviews for the book. They're very inspiring and encouraging. I love hearing about successes using this system, it's inspiring me to keep going.

I did buy the journal a few years ago and filled in the first week or so but for some reason never kept going with the system then. This time I'm feeling so much more motivated and it's been over a week now. Maybe I should start filling the journal in again as so many people say how helpful it is.

I'm finding the support on this thread is encouraging me to keep going too, so thanks everyone. Smile

missmakesstuff · 11/01/2011 19:07

Hi all, I have been lurking but now officially joining in!
I have been doing this for about a week now, it's going well, been listening to the CD every night, and falling asleep to it usually.

I'm finding it fairly easy, its very strange - my DH is loving it, as he now gets to finish his dinner, then eat the rest of mine...also am finding I'm giving a lot of my food to DD, who is nearly 9 months and loving her food...so its handy!
I'm a teacher, and used to think I was really hungry all day, but I keep finding I am bringing home half my lunch every day!

Have no idea what weight I am now, we don't own any scales, but I weighed myself at my mums just before xmas, and was 10st 11lbs, so it was two weeks of serious eating and drinking on top of that - it is about the weight I was when 8months pregnant with DD! so really need to make some changes, I want to lose just over a stone, to get down to about a 10-12 dress size, which is when I was happiest I think.

My biggest problem is picking at food when making it for others, and also just walking past the fridge. I have tried the tapping, but it was just a bit too weird, and it's not like I have any actual cravings, it's just habit and boredom I think.

I am aiming to get to the end of Jan, then will try weighing myself, just too see if anything has changed. Also aiming to do my pilates cd at least three times a week, and go swimming twice a week. Think it'll really help posting on here, support and talking things over with others always seems to help if youre going for changes I think.

didldidi · 11/01/2011 19:17

Is anyone planning on attending the PM I can make you thin event at the Apollo on Feb 19th?

Deafworm · 12/01/2011 09:49

glad the link was a help tessie give the journal a go, ive started and stopped a couple of times before but i tipexed it out and started from scratch on the first and im keeping it up, think it helps to feel i want to put good answers in

welcome missmakesstuff sounds like you have made a brilliant start, have you given any thought to just not weighing? if its a size you are looking for then just go off your clothes? im a bit of a picker too and have been working on catching myself and asking am i really hungry and being quite strict if im now.

no didldidi wish i could afford it but its just so far out of my reach at the moment, maybe later in the year if he does another

today isnt going brilliantly, i fell downstairs this morning, a very kind friend has helped me out a lot but im in a lot of pain and i think exercise is just off the table this week, i was doing well on the leg trainer and walking 4-5 miles a day just going to have to take it easy and get back to it when i can i guess

OP posts:
tessieb · 12/01/2011 11:32

Oh no, Deafworm. Hope you feel better soon. Falling downstairs is awful as it really shakes you up!

I've no plans to go to the Apollo event either, though I'm looking forward to the webchat this evening.

Welcome, Missmakesstuff. It is fairly easy to do, isn't it! My clothes are feeling looser and I feel better generally.

I'm planning to weigh myself on day 15 if I can wait that long! My starting weight was a bit of a shock as I've NEVER been so heavy before!!!!!

NicknameTaken · 12/01/2011 12:04

Aw, Deaf, hope you feel better.

Didl, I did think about it, but I'm not sure. If it's the same content as in the book and CD, is it worth it? Anyone been previously?

ppeatfruit · 12/01/2011 13:01

Thanks lola i have already posted my question, anyone going to ask about alcohol? poor deafworm have you any homeopathic arnica?it's amazing for shock.

ktwiltshire · 12/01/2011 14:04

I am officially joining, got the CD (well downloaded...) today and have listened to the first part, secrets of naturally slim people tracks 1+2. I am 5'6' and 194.8lbs.... (i a stickler for numbers, hoping to loose that habbit aswell!) I dont have a particular weight goal so to speak, but i do want to get back into my size 12/14 clothes. sounds like a lot, but although im only 5'6' i have HUGE hips and cant physically go any smaller than a 12/14 and i have HUGE boobs so i am restricted by size in these things. I just want to fit into my old clothes!!! Im currently a size 18 so its 3 dress sizes im going for, dont care how long it takes, but would like to get myself sorted.

This is the heaviest ive been, not pregnant, my youngest child (of 3) is 7months old. Although i did have extremely severe SPD in my last pregnancy so where i was active before (although not going to a gym or anything but did have a cross trainer) i can pretty much only walk now, and thats a struggle, so exercise just isnt an option and im under strict orders from drs to only do very small amounts!

Ok so today is a new today, trying to remember the rules whilst sitting here and eating marmite on toast...because thats what i fancied(!)

must get ready to pick the kids up from school and get the baby out of bed, i can hear chatting on the monitor!!

good luck everyone Smile

ktwiltshire · 12/01/2011 14:31

posted a question for paul on the webchat thread....really hope i can watch it, kids normally tucked up in bed by 6.45 but who knows!! DH also has people coming round tonight so might take the laptop upstairs!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 12/01/2011 15:11

Afternoon! Well, im am totally self-sabotaging! I dont even knwo why :( I was so motivated & determined, and Im just not following teh rules. Well, I am eating slowly & concioulsy at mealtimes but I just cannot stop snacking when i am NOT hungry :(

Hopefully will join some of you in the wenchat this evening!

Happy Birthday PP x

ppeatfruit · 12/01/2011 15:45

Thanks HowTolook!! i'll have difficulties tonight 'cos we're going to the BEST restaurant here and I get full SOOO quickly!!!

ppeatfruit · 12/01/2011 15:48

if you get into 'I can start again tomorrow' mode and put away snacky foods and do the tapping, it always works for me! good luck Smile

nuttynatty16 · 12/01/2011 16:50

Hi Everyone

This is a questions I am hoping Paul can answer later but just wondered if anyone here had any opinions?

I really like the common sense behind the ICMYT book. However he is 100% correct when you say that people shovel food in their mouth to get the serotonin high. I don't do this with normal food but do with chocolate bars and find that when I am trying to do the program I don't enjoy chocolate as much if I have to eat it slowly. Every other aspect of the plan appeals to me as I can stick to it for life but I feel so strongly about missing this high/ enjoyment of chocolate it makes me stop following the plan. Does anyone else have this? I think my husband thought I was crazy when I explained this. I thought about trying to slowly stop e.g. when start still allow one treat a day eaten quickly but following the other rules and slowly wean myself off? Would love to know your thoughts and if anyone else feels like this or is it just me?........

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 12/01/2011 18:55

PP, I put it behind me as soon as I did it, and have been sensible again this afternoon & teatime. Enjoy your meal!

nutty - I am like that with crisps, so I used the technique to stop me enjoying them and now try & get that "high" from non-food source.

tessieb · 12/01/2011 19:06

Whoops - just had a handful of DS's chocolate buttons! Blush I wasn't hungry at all, I didn't eat them consciously, I just couldn't resist them. At least I followed one rule, I ate what I really wanted. Grin

ktwiltshire · 12/01/2011 20:09

^ brilliant plan...sort of!

ktwiltshire · 12/01/2011 20:12
