Wynken broke the other thread!

Have been so busy at work, only in the door a few minutes. Haven't eaten yet, but weirdly not hungry.
Must have something otherwise will suddenly get ravenous.
Looks like everyone is doing ok though.
Am actually looking at Shred DVD (Still in its cellophane wrapping!)but too wrecked to start doing it today.

Right, what's going on, are we thin yet? I have eaten shedloads this week and have to face the scales of doom tomorrow. The only good thing if I put on is that I will be using my 10% free week voucher so won't be paying for the priviledge.

shinybootsofleather · 27/01/2011 09:27

Hi all. Back on the wagon after putting on 5lbs. I figure if I keep reading this thread it'll keep me motivated (in theory). The problem is that I am working on my OU course later and that usually becomes an excuse to procrastinate by eating like a small whale.
I am no longer in group as ran out of vouchers so I am following my old books from 3 months ago. Does anyone know if mugshots are still free? I know the cheese one used to be 2 syns and the others were free.

happynewRia · 27/01/2011 09:32

shinyboots - what OU course are you doing? I am about to start and it ends up being an excuse for having a treat if I've worked hardHmm

I joined a class at the gym yesterday - weigh in, exercise and a nutrition talk. Like itSmile. Their scales seemed to be capable of knowing the weight of each internal organ! I hope it's motivation enough as I feel like a fat lump again.

shinybootsofleather · 27/01/2011 09:59

Hi happynewRia. I am doing MU123 at the moment. I have 2 degrees but Maths has eluded me so far. I need the equivalent(or more) of GCSE C or above to get into teaching. Have studied A215 and S182 in the past. I really enjoy it, but do find I snack like a demon whilst studying. It's a good reason to make sure I have loads of fruit in though! I need to get this weight down as I am well into the obese category after having S almost a year and a half ago. I have also realised it's stopping me doing things now and affecting my confidence. Hence, the reason that I am working in a job that doesn't inspire me and is badly paid.
I'm with the YMCA gym. Have had a virus for about a month and a half that has only just started to clear so been crap with exercise. I am going to try the 30 Day Shred or a Davina tonight to see if I can cope. Think I might ache tomorrow!
Which course are you doing?

mrswoodentop · 27/01/2011 10:15

WEigh in today and have lost 2.5 pounds which means I am below 12 stone Grin, was very pleased as have had a houseful of sick children this week plus Burns night on saturday, although hopefully worked off some calories with all the Scottish dancing!!

Sorry I have not been around much this week ,the sick children plus work have just about done for me .

TheRedSalamander · 27/01/2011 13:26

Hello everyone. I've been lurking a while but really need to pick your brains now.

Has anyone got advice for the Success Express bit of Slimming world? I have been losing 1-2lbs a week over the last few months and am chuffed with that but I have reached a bit of a motivational low and need to kick start myself! My lovely consultant has suggested I give success express a try on a couple of days a week but I?m struggling to get my head round it. I understand the 1/3 free food 2/3 superfree at mealtimes- but what about snacks? Is ?free? still whatever is free on either red or green? And what is classed as superfree- is it just the fruit/ veg on pages 11-13 of the book plus eggs, vlf dairy and veg proteins like quorn or is it stuff that is free on both plans?

Oh my head! I expect it is all in the leaflet but I?ve gone and left it at home.

Any advice gratefully received!

TheRedSalamander · 27/01/2011 13:30

shineyboots- yes mugshots still free/2 sysns as per your post.

shinybootsofleather · 27/01/2011 14:55

Thanks TheRedSalamander. I'm very glad as they are a lifesaver when you're hungry and fancy some junk!

happynewRia · 27/01/2011 18:36

shinyboots. I'm doing S104. Am a bit scared.

am really hungry today.

upsydaisysexstylist · 28/01/2011 08:00

Hi newbies, it does work, honest I've now lost- ta dah 3 whole stone, nearly half way there and begining to feel confident I will get to target this year. Have faffed about a bit this month and am only 3.5lb less than I was before christmas, but have now regot my head around what to eat. Unfortunately could no longer deprive ds2 of solid food ( was very tempted though) and have readjusted my HE's accordingly. I still keep looking at the larger size ranges in shops before remembering I can get in a 16 now and only bought smaller knickers in the sales.
Would really recomend a new bra if you have lost a bit of weight now, got properly fitted at posh shop and bought without really looking at price tag. My first pretty underwired bra for nearly 3 years, was 45 in sale though, DP didn't seem to mind though !

happynewRia · 28/01/2011 09:29

that's fab upsydaisy.

whatkungfuthat · 28/01/2011 11:41

Hello ladies, I finally went back yesterday and have gained 10 pounds Shock Shock Shock In my defence I have had a really bad chest infection so no exercise and I was doing loads before xmas, I know from last year that it goes back on really quickly if I stop doing my free step. Went shopping this morning and got lots of healthy things so fingers crossed for next week.

whatkungfuthat · 28/01/2011 12:14

Wynken Grin at scales of doom

shinybootsofleather · 28/01/2011 13:00

Hi happynewRia. I work for the OU and the students I speak to say that S104 is really challenging but also very rewarding. I hope you manage it. I ended up doing sod all work on MU123 yesterday and decided to procrastinate by cleaning the floors, so the house looks great now and I didn;t eat any junk. Unfortunately still have a pile of Maths to do!
Congratulations on the weightloss upsydaisysexstylist. Love the name BTW! I lost 2 and a half stone on SW after pregnancy but 5lbs has crept back on. I am hoping it will work this time as well. I found I got a bit bored last time so will need to look for some recipe inspiration.

whatkungfuthat I've had periods like that but it is all about getting back on the wagon. I find that if I have a biscuit, I think screw it, I've cocked up the diet now so may as well have a whole pack. I find it hard to get out of that mindset sometimes.

happynewRia · 28/01/2011 17:35

am VERY scared now shinyboots , the idea is though, that I'm learning, isn't it? not that I know it already? I think I need challenging though, it will make me put the effort in (I hope!)

I went shopping with my big sis today. The pharmacist in Boots thought she was DS3s Grandma, rather than his favourite AuntyShock. I am mortified for her (but secretly feeling I must be looking good todayWink) We have a 14 year age gap, but even soShock. Am just relieved that her 13 year old DD wasn't with us or I might have been "Granny"!!!

It creeps back on so easily doesn't it. I am going to have to pull my finger out tomorrow before fat fighters on Wednesday. My friend I am going with has been to 2 classes today, so she'll beat me! No idea how I'm going to fit in exercise with study thoughConfused

shinybootsofleather · 29/01/2011 11:23

Don't be scared! It's supposed to be a really good course. You need to be challenged or you'll get bored anyway!
Ha ha, I call it Fatfighters as well. When I used to go to group, the leader was exactly like the Little Britain character!

TheRedSalamander · 31/01/2011 12:53

Shiney and Whatkungfuthat- I am the same with the nibbles (?oh sod it? I?ve already blown it I?ll have the rest of the packet) but someone said last week in class that if there was a vase of pretty flowers and one was looking a bit manky, I wouldn?t chuck the whole vase out would I? Same with dieting, just because I?ve had a bad moment/day doesn?t mean I have to write off the rest of the day/week. It?s really stuck in my mind and I think I have been rather good since last weigh in, so hoping for a good loss on Wednesday and the Scales of Doom (like that phrase!) Not certain if I?ve been doing success express right but have definitely increased the amount of superfree I?ve had and this has for sure filled me up more.

DH makes up a new FatFighters password every week to amuse me (came from when we had password to get online) and says it in a Marjorie Dawes voice- never fails to make me giggle!

Anyone weighing in today?

happynewRia · 31/01/2011 14:12

I don't actually watch Little Britain, but my son does what I imagine is a very good impression of the fatfighters lady... I didn't actually know he watches it eitherHmm

don't think I should weigh in this week TBH. I haven't actually been bad as such, but I haven't been good!Blush

ScaredOne · 31/01/2011 20:52

Hey everyone, I have kinda fallen off the wagon somehow. One of my friends was here for a week and we had loads of wine and biscuit time and yeah, not very good. I should have probably waited with signing up for slimming world till now but whatever.

I am going out soon though and tried on my dress yesterday and while it fits (thank God, really couldn't pay for a new one right now) it is a bit tight and I am scared to breathe in deeply. The event is in two weeks (the 11th), so I need to get going now.

I do have a different dress but somehow I'd really like to manage. Might be a good motivation?

I do have some problems with syns. So you are allowed 5-15 every day, but wouldn't you gain weight if you use all 15 all the time? I am worried to use them somehow. Can I 'save' them for the next day or something?

And also bread. I don't have a digital scale so just go with two regular slices being my healthy extra (I am on Extra Easy). Is that about right? That's what I have worked out from different brands but am not really sure.

Sorry if this is a lot, but I would appreciate any help.

BuntingHill · 01/02/2011 17:31

Hi - can I join? Doing SW at home with DH - finding it tough to keep at it - but can't face the endless claptrap in class everyweek anymore. We are meeting at Boots scales in town for our weigh in!

TheRedSalamander · 02/02/2011 10:51

Lol at endless claptrap! Know what you mean. I have to go otherwise I don't bother sticking to it- my mental resolve is appalling.

Bread/healthy b's- 2 slices of wholemeal if it is from one of the small 400g loaves or weightwatchers/nimble sort of things I think, otherwise only 1 slice counts as a healthy b. Sadly!

Syns- think that 15 is ok if it works for you- so if you limit yourself to 15 and you're still losing weight then thats fine. If you're not you need to go down to 10. I do 10 and some days I might be a few over, some a few under but it works ok in the main.

I don't think they recommend saving them up (particularly in the case of alcohol as it sort of gives a green light to binge drinking) but a flexible syn day every once in a while isn't going to ruin your weight loss. (Flexible syn days are days when you give yourself a much much higher limit- say 70 syns- if you know you are going to be having high-syn stuff. Then you make sure that even if you are going to have loooooads of syns you still count them- so you know what's what, and maybe reduce your syns a bit for a couple of days before and after the blow out. So not necessarily saving them up but more a sort of damage limitation I guess. If I did no syns at all for a few days it would kill me so I've not tried it to be honest. I've counted the blow out syns (oops 270 one day/night out on the town! BlushShock) but haven't intentionally limited syns on other days as a result. Think I still lost 1/2lb that week though so can't be all bad!

Scavo · 02/02/2011 18:12

Hey all.. weighed in on mon eve, and week 1 i have lost 4lbs, am delighted with that now and it has motivated me big time, though i have to say, today for some reason, i'm craving crap food!! Havnt had anything bad just yet but it's early yet, off to aerobics class at 7 so hopefully i can get food out of my head, last weeek on my first week i was totally amazed by the amount of food you can eat "free" on SW, but now all i want is bread cake biscuits crisps etc, why is that?????
anyway, hoping my mood will pass after my work out!!!!
Oh and also, supposed to be going out on sat nite with friends for few drinks but am scared i'll wreck my healthy eating regime and alcohol is soooo high on SYNs!!

whatkungfuthat · 03/02/2011 09:28

Well done Scavo Grin I'm off for my WI soon and I've been good so hopefully should have lost some of the xmas/poorly weight.

Welcome Bunting, love the thought of meeting in Boots for WI. My DP is doing the diet too and its very competitive so we do it at home on the Wii, its only me that goes to meetings.

whatkungfuthat · 03/02/2011 11:58

Just back from WI, lost 4 yay!

TheRedSalamander · 03/02/2011 12:09

wow well done you 4lbers!

Thats really good going. I managed a measly 1lb (which is the same one I put on last week!) so am "starting again" - will be writing everything down, planning ahead etc just like I did in my first few weeks so I can be a bit more focused.

The first stone was relatively straightforward but the rest is obviously going to require a little bit more effort! (I have three more stone to lose- aaaaaargh!)

Bread seems to make my weight loss slow down- anybody else find this?
