Wynken broke the other thread!

Have been so busy at work, only in the door a few minutes. Haven't eaten yet, but weirdly not hungry.
Must have something otherwise will suddenly get ravenous.
Looks like everyone is doing ok though.
Am actually looking at Shred DVD (Still in its cellophane wrapping!)but too wrecked to start doing it today.

pissed off and ill again. Let's hope it's contributing to the weight lossWink

wonder if we need a new thread for "we'll be at target weight for christmas"? Am trying to cling on to the idea that I could be xx stone by the summer, so it'll be easier to do the Dales 3 Peaks (not all on the same day though - that's for next year!)

LacksDaisies · 18/01/2011 09:59

I know Ria, tis shameful and a disgrace to my Scottishness Wink

Sorry you're still feeling ill; things just seem to be hanging around this winter...

I've got a friend's 40th birthday spa day in April, so definately an incentive to shift something by then, especially as she will be 8 months pregnant and I don't want to look like I'm about to join her in giving birth...

...DD asked me yesterday when I was having my baby Shock

happynewRia · 18/01/2011 10:24

Grin I have finally sold some baby stuff. Not happySad But given it's 13 year old tat I suppose I'm doing well to sell itWink

ah well, best shift the old behind and try to achieve something.

Lulumaam · 18/01/2011 16:41

we've also been sorting out the old baby stuff, i've given loads to friends and whatever is left is going to the charity shop monday.. i had bags and bags and bags full

well, i did it ! I lost 4 lbs and got my 2 stone off last night !! unfortunately, couldn't stay for the meeting, but am really pleased.. been eating lots of fish and lean meat and loads of greens..

happynewRia · 18/01/2011 19:06

I haven't started on the clothes yetBlush can't bear to...

made the nasi goreng tonight for the boys (have been feeling sick since my lunch). I made it with turkey mince, and they want it dcold for lunch tomorrow!

happynewRia · 18/01/2011 19:07

well done on the loss luluGrin

am distracted, DS1 is restringing his new electric guitar (a skill I didn't know he had) and talking nonsense - I can't keep up!

Scavo · 18/01/2011 19:07

Hey everyone.. have been doing weight watchers for too many years to mention now, lose the weight, gain it back.. yo-yo dieter, that's me.. anyhow, i've been thinking about doing slimmingworld to see if i can lose the flab and keep it off.. trouble is i always feel very deprived on a diet and i'm told with slimming world i won't.. any thoughts?? there's a group just started in my area and was gonna bite the bullet and give it a shot..

LacksDaisies · 18/01/2011 19:26

Hi scavo; I've never felt hungry or deprived when doing SW, and with the extra easy plan it;s even easier to fill up. I had a huuuuuge bowl of spag bol for tea tonight and a big baked potato with beans for lunch and have been nibbling on fruit all day as well and it was all free food!

Well done on the 2stone award Lulu Smile; I long for that day for myself!!

Scavo · 18/01/2011 19:41

Thanks LacksDaisies.. it sounds almost too good to be true!! A work colleague told be about it today, she has just joined, i thought she must be exaggerating about all the food she was allowed to have.. am afraid ww is just etched into my brain and i really need a change from it, have 1 and half stone to lose, would be so thrilled to get it off and keep it off and not be hungry all the time..

LacksDaisies · 18/01/2011 20:20

you know, it does sound too good to be true, but it works.

My best week, I really knuckled down to it, stayed within my syns allowance and lost 5.5 lbs, so I know it's possible.

the main thing that gets me is the lack of fats, as fat is what gives food the right mouth-feel ime. So although the curries are lovely, they aren't as satisying as a rogan josh from the local takeaway!

and I miss butter, but that's the same for any diet!!

Lulumaam · 18/01/2011 20:33

scavo , i have not felt hungry really..
you can have jacket potatoes pasta and rice in unlimited quantities on the extra easy plan and when you can eat a lot of carbs like that, you do get full

definitely no deprivation

you can have anything you want, just not in the same quantities you might have been doing

LacksDaisies · 18/01/2011 21:44

ria....your advice might be needed here

ScaredOne · 18/01/2011 22:36

Hey everyone,

could I join you please? I signed of for the online slimming world program yesterday and am still a bit confused about everything. I had planned my day ahead though and followed through with it so I guess it's a start.

I have not been hungry all day though so kinda feel as if this just CAN'T work out, how could I loose weight like this? I tried weight watchers before and found it quite complicated and was often hungry. So a new try it is for me here...

I made the slimming world carbonara tonight though and have to say I had two huge bowls of it. It was supposed to be enough for 4 people but I don't think it would have been (eating with my DP here though, not all me Wink )

happynewRia · 18/01/2011 22:57

hi scaredone and scavo.

TBH I have struggled today. After being ill last night and feeling ill today, I certainly haven't felt like eggs, and 1/3 plates of veg/salad. So haven't been on plan as it doesn't allow for recuperative toast meals! But my first week on it this time round I felt full all the time and wasn't needing to snackShock. The only things I do feel deprived about are the things I shoudln't be having in the quantities I like anywayBlush (wine, chocolate, proper or ready meal chinese/indian/pizza etc, and I do miss having garlic bread with pasta dishes). But I felt better for it, and it's all about changing habits for the long-term isn't it?

duly commented daisy. though for a minute I thought you'd put me on to some sort of technical thread where I would have to really try with the right answerWink

I was going to zumba with my friend in the morning, but bloody DH has to go to work.GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

had a lovely moment today. when I collected DS3 from nursery, he held my hand and said "thank you for taking me mummy"Smile

happynewRia · 18/01/2011 22:59

balanced out at 3.45pm by DS1 telling me that the boy who was expelled from his year for "knife crime"(?) is having sex with XXX. They are in year 9. I don't need to knowShock

I love my childrenWink

ScaredOne · 18/01/2011 23:08

Thanks for your welcome.
Your son sounds cute (DS3 that is, not 1!)

If you are ill don't worry about eating some more bread etc for a day. The sooner you feel better the sooner you will be able to get back on track.

I definitely need to cut down on snack food and chocolate as I eat them loads and could survive on them. Up to the point where I'd probably explode though so this has to change now.

I haven't had a snack today though as all my meals have been really filling but like I said, I struggled with the fruit and veg.

For tomorrow I am planning French Toast for breakfast with fruit (possibly kiwi), a pasta salad for lunch and a stir fry in the evening. I bought some of these chinese noodles (pre-cooked). Am I allowed to eat them or not? I bought them thinking they are like pasta but am not too sure anymore now somehow. Oh well.

My syns are spend on milk etc and maybe a small snack tomorrow.

To everyone who has lost weight on extra easy, could you really eat as much as you wanted? Like tonight I ate more than my fare share of dinner I think and am scared I am overeating because everything is free

happynewRia · 18/01/2011 23:54

are they the "ready to wok" noodles? am not sure but I have a sense of foreboding when I eat them that they might have a syn content? If you uy dry noodles and boil them I think they count as free. (but I haven't been to class since well before EE so I'm not sure on updates etc)

LacksDaisies · 19/01/2011 00:04

Hi ScaredOne Smile

the book says pre-made/ready to cook noodles are 0.5 syn per 28g as they are usually coated in oil.

I tried online before but found that it was much easier to stray off course than going to class...mind you that was befire I had discovered online communities, so had no help so to speak. Much easier to do it online these days with all the forums out there.

and yes you can eat loads; it seems bonkers, but as long as you are avoiding adding fat and removing visible fat, and it's listed as a free food, then it really is free. It seemed like a bonkers notion of eating when I first started as all my life I've been told that limiting calories and exercise is the only way to lose weight.

Shock ria at DS1's conversation. Although it's good that he can talk openly about things like that with you, it's making me feel very nervous about mine all growing up and thinking about sex at aged 14!

right, I really must get off to bed as DH is out the door at 6am tomorrow so I'm on duty from very early o'clock!

happynewRia · 19/01/2011 00:07

bugger bugger bugger. Long sensible post just vanished!

scaredone - are you having your milk as your HEA? no need to waste syns if you don't need to! (am a non-cheese eater)

all my kids are lovely when they're asleepWink DS3 currently the most adorable, but hey, he will get attitude etc in time.Hmm

have wondered about the "purple" milk myself daisy, but I only have it in tea so I just do that and consider it my HEA. I don't drink much tea as I'm too idle to make it for myself. I'm not sure about your HEB question, that's the kind of thing your consultant should be answering. one of my FB friends if a SW consultant now (she wasn't when we became MN friends, so I don't know if she would advise "outside group") I did rad somewhere on MN once about splitting HEBs (obviously got to be wrong) so there must be room for manouevre!

mummytotwins · 19/01/2011 00:57

I joined slimming world today :) Im another one who thinks surely this is too good to be true, I have done weight watchers for years and am sick of losing and gaining the same weight, as well as pointing and weighing things.

What books would you reccomend I get? anything else you recommend for a newbie.

Im excited to be starting this! I want to lose 21lbs, if I could lose 12lbs in the next 5 weeks before my nephew is christened I would be over the moon!!!!!

ditavonteesed · 19/01/2011 08:01

well weighed in today and my wii scales reckon I have lost 8lbs this week (not sure if it is due to the new rug which I ut the scales on) I am taking it as a motivation that I can do this, lost my mojo a bit lately, been using food focus and trying to stick to 1500 cals a day. If it is correct that leaves me with one stone to lose to get bmi of 25 yay. might have a mini clothes trying on session later to see if it is real.

Furball · 19/01/2011 08:07

wow dita - fabulous!

I'm off for my 1st WI today - feel 4lbs would be justice as I've not put a foot wrong.

My key seems to be in meal planning.

happynewRia · 19/01/2011 08:20

yay ditaGrin good luck furball.
today's plan to get back on track, but guess what - full of cold this morning. where is my immune system?

ScaredOne · 19/01/2011 11:32

Thanks for all the help last night. I guess I will just count the noodles then as I have not much else for syns today. Although 28g is tiny! BUt it's more veg then noodles so I guess I can live with it.

I definitely want to use milk for my Healthy Extra but yesterday my dinner had cheese so I use that. Also, I usually only use milk in tea so I am not sure I get to 250 millilitres. So I am not sure whether I then wouldn't break the rules?

I usually like muesli for breakfast but it seems it has too many syns unfortunately. All muesli seems to have the same number of syns, too, although I buy the really healthy and without sugar one.

This morning I 50g less than yesterday. I know it's probably just fluctuation and you shouldn't weigh yourself more than once a week but I was just too nosey. And usually when I stuff myself like yesterday I weigh more the next day, not less. So this motivated me for today!

Dita, 8 pounds is amazing! Well done. Good luck at your weigh in today.

Mummutotwins: I am glad I am not the only one who, after weight watchers, thinks this just can't work. Which plan are you following, the extra easy one or the red and green one?

Scavo · 19/01/2011 13:19

HI all.. thanks so much for all your advise and encouragement.. And i think that i will Join up at local class on monday.. Looking forward to it now (i think)!!
