Wynken broke the other thread!

Have been so busy at work, only in the door a few minutes. Haven't eaten yet, but weirdly not hungry.
Must have something otherwise will suddenly get ravenous.
Looks like everyone is doing ok though.
Am actually looking at Shred DVD (Still in its cellophane wrapping!)but too wrecked to start doing it today.

Couldn't help but read "Ria, send your children to me, they sound delicious"

Yikes!

I'm not entirely sold on skiing myself ... it's an awful lot of faff to go 'wheee!' down a slope for thirty seconds. Especially north of the Arctic circle where half the faff is putting on 27 layers of clothing beforehand. But it DID keep me active over a period when I would otherwise have been doing not a great deal.

DontCallMeBaby · 04/01/2011 23:01

Well, at the risk of talking to myself ... had a brilliant weigh-in. :o I got my 1.5 stone, Club 10 and Slimmer of the Week. Our group en masse lost 18.5lb and gained 181lb over the last three weeks - we've had two weigh-ins off cos our consultant dislocated her knee. I've actually been 'off' for four weeks, and lost 4.5lb in that time, which isn't brilliant week by week but pretty good over Christmas. I don't know HOW though - got to be the exercise, as I only really had a week off exercising, and I was ill for most of that.

So I actually feel really motivated now, having thought I was going to quit (actual SW, that is, not trying to lose weight). I guess I will stick around on all fronts for a bit longer!

upsydaisysexstylist · 05/01/2011 08:12

DCMB, that is excellent! club 10 is a big acheivement.
Well WI last night and have lost 3 1/2 of the 4lb I put on Christmas week , so still starting new year under 14st, just. Have set an interim target of 12st 6lb by easter as that will give me a bmi of 29.9 and my pat is too far away to motivate me enough at the moment.

We got the back to basics talk last night an our leader pointed out the whole group could be at target by next new year!

whatkungfuthat · 05/01/2011 08:32

Morning, well done DCMB and Upsy. I've started back on PP properly now but not going to WI tomorrow as I want to have the week to lose some before I go back otherwise I'll just get too demotivated. If anyone doing PP is interested - went to M&S yesterday and their count on us range has been updated to show PP, which is very useful for lunches etc.

Had a terrible couple of nights sleep. Monday night I woke up with indigestion and was worried I was having a heart attack! I normally only get heartburn kind so not used to it, and I am prone to overdramatise! Last night DS2 woke up at 3am as he had lost his quilt and was cold, then I couldn't get back to sleep. I ended up on the sofa listening to the wind howling down the chimney. So tempted to go back to bed once the school run is finished Grin

ditavonteesed · 05/01/2011 08:59

morning, my team not back till tommmorow when I will hit it with a vengenace. it is vile weather so we are playing wii fit today which should help me get back into it.

happynewRia · 05/01/2011 10:39

I'm afraid I did go back to bed yesterday, after turfing DS1 out in the dark to catch the school bus!

yay for losses and club 10, well done.

How many daily syns do you SW guys have? and do you count daily or weekly?

I had ONE chocolate yesterday!!!

am not sleeping well though.

ditavonteesed · 05/01/2011 11:10

sorry your not sleeping well, tis rubbish. I have spent the last couple of hours on the wii and am upping my target loss to 2.5lbs per week, feeling really motivated if I can manage 2.5 I will be in healthy bmi range in just over 8 weeks. probably got another stone to lose after that but going to break it down into realistic targets this time.

upsydaisysexstylist · 05/01/2011 11:28

Soorry about the sleeping, does not help the willpower. Dita I count daily but also weekly ie out of 15 then 30 then 45, find lose well on around 90 syns and counting this way leaves me a few extra by the weekend

happynewRia · 05/01/2011 18:54

is it still 10-15 syns a day then? was worried they'd cut it to 10! (someone on another thread said her consultant had said up to 20 was OK if she was struggling).
I had 3 on Monday, 14 yesterday, and (because my healthy lunch plans of plain jacket potato with salad were scuppered by a tiny spoonful of coleslaw on the salad - half of which my mum had - and enough butter t make a cake on the potato) 11 today.

happynewRia · 05/01/2011 20:03

am REALLY REALLY starvingSad

happynewRia · 06/01/2011 00:02

just logging in before I head of to another night of waking up thinking about the food I can't have and the menu-plans of the food I canSad

I did not weaken though. I have read a book, had a cup of tea and 2 chocolates, instead of walking to the shop for wine and pizza and crisps... please tell me the cravings go soon?

what are your thoughts on post weigh-in treats? one of the classes I went to a group of ladies used to go out for fish and chips after staying to group.

happynewRia · 06/01/2011 00:02

15 syns for today.

Melty · 06/01/2011 09:00

Good Morning, Happy New Year Everyone!
I came back Monday Night, and forgot to weigh myself yesterday.
Had a goodish time while off, but there was chocolate every day while off, although actually ate really well in most cases, didnt go too mad with bread and ate plenty of veg and fruit. Did not deny myself however and there were a number of lovely thai meals out, the odd pizza (not to mention the whole bottle of Prosecco to myself on Christmas day) etc.
I forgot to weigh myself yesterday, and stood on the scales with a bit of trepidation today.
I did not gain a single pound, and lost a half pound!!!
I am now -20, so although I havent lost the whole amount I put back on, (I had lost 22lbs)I think I will find it easy to get back on track, away from the Christmas/New Year temptation.

Havent read the whole thread of happenings while I was away, so will catch up later. Smile

bloody well done Melty Smile Envy

upsydaisysexstylist · 06/01/2011 11:12

Weel done Melty. Ria I think it depends on the amount weight you have to lose and how accurate you are with your healthy extras and syns. Keeping to 10 allows for mistakes in the week . I saw on the website that 10 to 15syns is for those with around 2st to lose. Maybe this lady had more or maybe it's better to losea 1lb a week and not struggle. Am suprised not advised to have extra healthy extras and syn them as breast feeding and maintaining info is to have more HE.

When ds2 was 16wks constant feeding I had five mainly free meals a day and still lost weight, ie veg omlette for supper

Melty · 06/01/2011 11:49

Ria,
I think it was more good luck than anything else!
Did you throw out the old scales?
I think you would know if you had put on a stone and a half, plus it would be extremely difficult to achieve that over a couple of weeks. Your kids are very good cooks by the sounds of things.
If you want a good healthy and very moreish recipe:

Nasi Goreng (the slimming world version!):
Extra Lean mince (half pound pack)
1 onion, chopped. 2 cloves garlic chopped or crushed.
Fry onion and garlic until soft (fry light or I use a couple of sprays of Olive oil), add mince and cook until nicely browned.
Add 2 tsp medium curry sauce, 1 red chili chopped finely (or a tsp of the easy chili squeezy tube),1 tbs of tomato puree and 3 tbs of Soy sauce.
Cook for a further 2-3 mins.
Add 600mls stock, and 200g basmati rice. Stir.
Cover for about 15 mins or until rice is cooked and simmer on a low heat.
Done!
Eat with your super free veggies.
You will feel so indulgent.Smile

Hello again, back after new year, not feeling too bad as only put on 2 over xmas and new year ,but am feeling really determined ,is going to be the year that I am not teh fat one in the holiday photos!

Have decided to take up knitting agin to give me something to do with my hands in the evening which is not biscuit eatingGrin

happynewRia · 06/01/2011 11:59

I tried that mrswoodentop, I had made half a scarf (I am not a natural knitter) and DS3 took it out of the bag and unravelled it! I start my new OU course at the end of the month, so that should keep me occupied. For now I suppose it'll be going to bed earlyHmm

starving again today, am about to go and make bubble and squeak from last nights leftovers. Have to be good this week, as I want to see what loss I might get after a 100% week, also it's DS2s birthday on Saturday, and while the party is not a problem as it's at a soft play, my mum has offered to do a "party tea" for us and them in the evening (I was going to do it, but mum offered! Only thing is, while I would have made something SW friendly for me, she will probably not, as she is very good at eating in moderation and thinks one meal that isn't strictly SW should be OK if I don't "overdo it"Hmm)

sorry to be a frquent poster, this is my way of doing "back to basics" I think.

Thanks for that recipe Melty, am very glad you posted it again. Could you repost the pasta and leek one too please? TIA

OK, lunchtime!!!Grin

hystericalmum · 06/01/2011 12:38

Hello, can I just barge on in to this thread!
Didn't see it yesterday when I was looking.
Anyway bit of background.
Did SW from June 09 & by April 10 hit my target weight.
By them baby was a bugger & staying to class was hard.
So I stopped going. Put on a bit of weight. But since end of nov have put on about a stone Shock
I haven't weighed myself on my scales, the ones I used were at my Mils 200 miles away. So I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning on the wii & go from there.
Am approx 10 stone & am aiming to be about 8st 10lbs. Am 5'2".
I started back on the plan yesterday.
Somehow I am still in my size 12 clothes. I probably look like an overstuffed sausage though! Grin

Melty · 06/01/2011 13:23

Ooh, that should be 2 tsp curry powder, not curry sauce.

I will dig out the pasta and leek one.

OP posts:
happynewRia · 06/01/2011 13:35

gah! can't keep awayBlush

how many servings does that make Melty? I fancy trying it for the kids too (they, like their Cheffy Dad, are better cooks than me BTW, but I suppose that's because they aren't bogged down with being a refereeparent, housework, laundry etc. And get to leave the house for their own lives... Much like DH TBHHmm)

hi hystericalmum.

Pinkjenny · 06/01/2011 14:20

May I join this thread?? Am on SW, lost 6.5lbs in two weeks before Xmas, haven't been weighed since, due to snow, boxing day and new year's day. D-day is Saturday, and I still can't stop eating.

Melty · 06/01/2011 14:31

It makes about 6 (depending on greed hunger) (I made it for my brother and his wife, it did 4 big servings!)

And hello hysterical/woodentop/Jenny Smile

DCMB, I am planning to open the Shred wrapping tonight. I am scared though. Confused
Upsy, well done!!

Pasta with pancetta, leek and mushrooms (takes about 20 mins plus chopping time)

300g Pasta. (Recipe calls for shells but any will do)
3-4 tbsp Olive oil (I just used a couple of sprays)
2 medium leeks finely sliced.
125g pancetta or lean bacon sliced.
250g chesnut mushrooms sliced.
2-3 tbsp creme fraiche (I used fat free fromage frais)
Salt and Pepper.
Bunch Flat Leaf Parsley chopped.
Parmesan shavings to serve.

1 Put pasta on and cook until al dente.
2 Meawhile fry off pancetta until golden.
3 Add mushrooms and leeks, and stir over a high heat for 6-8 minutes until leeks are tender.
4 Drain Pasta and immediately toss with pancetta leeks and mushrooms. Stir in Fromage Frais.
5 Season with salt and pepper to taste
6 Scatter over chopped parsley to serve.

Grate a little parmesan over the top.

Almost syn free on EE. Huge pile of super free veggies in the dish (Parmesan should synned but I didnt use much so I estimated 1/2 syn for me)

mrswoodentop · 06/01/2011 15:10

Melty that recipe sounds great ,I will definately give it a try ,I can't stand using the dreaded fry light so have just put some olive oil in a sprayer and use as little as possible

happynewRia · 06/01/2011 17:36

thanks melty, we will have it next week, as I am planned up til Sunday.

am really cold, irritated with DH and feeling a bit flat with the xmas decs tidied away etc. Tonight could be a challenge. Next week I need to consider exerciseHmm
