Wynken broke the other thread!

Have been so busy at work, only in the door a few minutes. Haven't eaten yet, but weirdly not hungry.
Must have something otherwise will suddenly get ravenous.
Looks like everyone is doing ok though.
Am actually looking at Shred DVD (Still in its cellophane wrapping!)but too wrecked to start doing it today.

yay lost 2 lbs so far this week, just by not eating as much crap as I have been.

dd2 started school yesterday although not in full days till next thurs been an emotional week so far. took dog out for a mega walk to take my mind of it planning on doing the same today.

Furball · 07/01/2011 08:13

Can I join you?

I lost 2 stone a few years back with SW but have since put it back on........

I joined WW a couple of months ago and struggled all the way.....too much weighing and counting etc.......

So......I'm going back to what I know, where I can go to the cupboard and eat loads of free foods and not have to worry.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 07/01/2011 08:30

Lovely to see everyone back again and welcome to newcomers.

Went to WI yesterday and lost half a pound but that was fine as found last week harder than Christmas and it nailed my 2.5 stone award. Saw someone I hadn't seen for a few weeks at group who is visibly smaller , she's on 7.5 stone in 29 weeks, completely amazing!

Exercise is the name of the game for me this week.

happynewRia · 07/01/2011 11:40

wynken, has your friend lost 7.5 stone in 29 weeks?Shock is that SW or WW? That's brilliant. Well done to you too of course.

Not keen on the starting school thing myself Dita. I have upped DS3 to 3 sessions at playgroup, and changed him to afternoons so he is more likely to be with the children who go to nursery (childcare here is a very complicated set-up!) rather than younger ones. He will have one or 2 mornings at nursery depnding on how tired he is, then after Easter I suppse I will have to drop playgroup and aim for 5 mornings at nursery as he is due to start reception in September (I have yet to look into whether I can insist on only mornings until after christmas. As he isn't 5 until June 2012 I think I might be able to?)

big brunch again today as missed breakfastBlush

GandTiceandaslice · 07/01/2011 12:06

Todays food diary
B: 28g porridge (B), cinnamon & banana
sn 1/2 a hot x bun (5 syns approx)
L: baked potato, beans, 42g lf cheddar (A), broccoli
sn 6 wholegrain crackerwheat (b) & FF cotage cheese, fruit
D: veg stir fry with noodles.
sn. FF yogurt.

I find mid afternoon the hardest. 4pm. Home with the kids. Ages till dinner. Ages since lunch. Am hoping the quite large snack of the crackerbreads will sort me out.

VivaLeBeaver · 07/01/2011 12:52

Today's food diary;

2 weetabix with tiny bit of skimmed milk (nearly dry). (b)

Grapes

tuna, egg salad with balsamic vinegar. Muller light. Skinny mocha (5 syns)

Am going to make a chickpea and mango curry for dinner which will be free.

Probably have a cereal bar this evening.

Have done the Shred DVD this morning as well.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 07/01/2011 14:32

She's at my SW group Ria. I'd love to know if she's doing anything else to boost her loss but don't know her well enough to ask. All the schools here only have reception mornings until January, there are lots more people in the playground this week now they are doing afternoons.

Good food diaries going on. Mine is quorn sausages, egg, bacon, tomato, mushrooms and melon for breakfast.

350ml skim milk for A choice
2 Alpen lights for B choice

Tomato and lentil soup for lunch

Chicken, egg noodles and stirfry veg for tea. Not sure about syns yet. Am trying hard for a loss this week as it is my week where I tend not to lose so am Propointing it as well. So if I don't lose it is not from lack of sodding effort !

happynewRia · 07/01/2011 16:04

thanks wynken, was just wondering as 7.5 stone is more than my initial target (and probably more than I need to lose TBH), and that's just amazing. (I know it's true I could be at target by christmas, but it seems SO far away).

Am hanging head in shame now anyway. DS1 wanted to talk through his option choices when he came in, and we were all cold and wet, so had tea and shortbread. And I had some crispsBlush (my own fault for buying walkers multi pack with cheese and onion in them). Hopefully I won't have done too much damage and will have some loss on Monday as I've been so good up to now.

AuntieDoris · 07/01/2011 22:07

Hello people. I joined SW last night. By the time I got home after the meeting I hadn't even got my head around it and what I could/couldn't eat.

Tomorrow I intend to write a menu plan for the week and go shopping,

Any advice from people who have done this diet?

Furball · 08/01/2011 07:50

I would say:-

Meal plan every meal - know what you are going to the kitchen for, never rumage in the cupboards. there are loads of free foods that you can eat til you literally burst, you should never feel hungry

It does seem hard at first - Healthy Extra this, syn that, free the other. but fill in your food diary and after a few days or so it sort of clicks in.

this is a good website for ideas and tips etc there's even a thread about planning Smile

I lost 2 stone a couple of years ago with SW but also have managed to put it all back. I fancied a change and join Weight Watchers in November and didn't get on at all, so next Wednesday I'm re-joining SW, but thought I'd start SW thinking yesterday in my head.

whatkungfuthat · 08/01/2011 08:42

Hi everyone, I fell off the thread again. Welcome new ladies Smile AuntieD, don't forget that a third of the plate needs to be superfree (fruit & veg), this seems to be key to a good loss.

littledolly · 08/01/2011 08:55

Hi all
I joined this thread just before Christmas, but things didn't exactly go to plan - as they haven't done for about the last 10 months! I bit the bullet last Monday and went back to class, 5lbs heavier than when I started SW last March. I now have about 2.5 stone to loose. The reason I gave up on classes was because the consultant was awful, but there is now a new one, and people I know in the class say she is much better, so am hoping this will encourage me.

I've had a good week this week, but from my own scales, I don't seem to have lost as much as an ounce! I have to admit though, I haven't been strict about the third superfree, so need to work on that a bit more. I know that the plan does work, so even if I don't have a loss this week, I need to stay motivated and keep at it.

I have a child's birthday party today, so need to muster up the strongest of willpower to not eat anything - wish me luck with that!!

FoJo · 09/01/2011 14:51

Can anyone help plse with a recipe from the calendar that came free with the november magazine (I think). Its for a bake of some sort with aubergines & mozzeralla. read it, liked the look of it and so wrote them down on shopping list. Have now bought them and cant find the b**y calendar! Annoyed as there were a couple of things I liked the look of. The booklet that came with the next issue of the magazine didnt appeal to me half as much and needless to say I know exactly where that is!! Typical

GandTiceandaslice · 09/01/2011 17:00

decided I will go to class again tomorrow.
So naturally today I have stuffed myself with crap Angry
I sabotage myself something terrible.
FoJo, I'll look for the calendar later, just got to feed the baby.

whatkungfuthat · 09/01/2011 18:27

G&T all I seem to do is sabotage myself atm so you are not alone, go to group then it may help you refocus after xmas. Good luck Grin

AuntieDoris · 10/01/2011 06:18

Has anyone got any good ideas for lunches? I used to either eat a sandwich or soup and a roll but I would prefer to have a syn free lunch if possible.

Any ideas? Ta x

Furball · 10/01/2011 07:01

Is it for a lunchbox auntiedoris? or will you have use of a kitchen?

Melty · 10/01/2011 07:12

FoJo

Aubergine Bake from Calender:

4 Garlic cloves thinly sliced
2 400g cans chopped tomatoes.
1 Tsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried chili flakes
1/4 tsp artificial sweetener
2 handfuls fresh basil finely shredded
salt and black pepper
3 aubergines sliced thinly lengthways
6 oz veg mozarella cheese, sliced.

1. Preheat Oven to 160C 325F Gas 3
Spray large fyring pan with fry light and gently fry garlic for 1-2 mins
Add tomatoes, cinnamon, oregano chiliflakes and sweetener and simmer for 15mins until thickened. Stir in Basil and season well.

2. Spray the aubergine slices with fry light. Season and griddle in a non stick griddle pan in batches, turning a few times until tender.

3. Place half the tomato sauce in the bottom of a medium ovenproof dish. Cover with a layer of Aubergine and Mozarella. Repeat wnding with a layer of Mozarella. Bake for 35-40mins or until golden and bubbling.
(6 syns if not using mozarella as a HE)

I notice the recipe doesnt suggest salting the aubergine. I still do this, only because it means it doesnt absorb so much oil in cooking and also it gets rid of excess moisture and concentrates the flavour so tastes better.

Auntie Doris
Are you looking for cold lunches or do you have access to a microwave?

OP posts:
upsydaisysexstylist · 10/01/2011 07:13

Hi, before you beat yourself up about the sabotaging remeber how well you have done and think about why.you have. I have been getting very cross with myself finding the diet difficult this week and have had over15 syns most days, however had reduced my HE as ds2 started solids and when I counted up his feeds last night ( never normally bother) still feeding 9-11 times a day so need the calories of the HE and have just replaced them with crap. Going back to 6 a day and think it is better to maybe lose the weight more slowly than I have been and not struggle.

Auntie omlettes are good and quick and I tend to fall back on cous cous with quorn pieces or sauaages with mushrooms, peppers, courgettes, tomatos etc all done in fry light

AuntieDoris · 10/01/2011 07:38

I have use of a microwave and a kettle at work but nothing else. I thought I could do jacket potatoes and salad but I will tire of the easily I reckon!

Melty · 10/01/2011 07:45

I often use Weightwatchers Malted Danish Bread (its a HE) for lunches and make BIG FAT sandwiches.
(Grate 42g of half fat cheese and add a few tomatoes. Low fat spread or lite mayo (minimal syns)Bobs your uncle.
Or quorn slices on bread spread with laughing cow, or if on a red day ham/chicken/egg - the opportunities are endless.
My favourite is a toasted weight Watchers malted danish with poached or roasted chicken, tomatoes and rocket with a squirt of hellmans light. (cant be doing with the extra light stuff.)Or Laughing cow light with ham and tomatoes.

You can also do great pasta dishes which stay tasty when cold.
I am lucky in that I have access to a microwave, so I frequently reheat last nights dinner. I have to have variety otherwise I get bored and want to eat bad bad things!
I also make syn free soup, and leave lumps of potato in it, so it feels very substantial and I dont want bread/roll with it.

OP posts:
Melty · 10/01/2011 07:49

Thats not so bad Doris, any syn free pasta or rice dish, fritatta, soup, last nights dinner!
I am having my Nasi Goreng dish, reheated with veggies that I microwave on the side for lunch today. Also have some fruit and a mullet light cherry.

SW quiches - loads of variations with pasta in or meat etc depending on what day you are doing. basic reciepe =

SLIMMING WORLD QUICHE

Serves however many you like

Free on red and green

Really easy one for lunch or a snack. Saute veggies of your choice in fry light until slightly softened. In a bowl mix 3 eggs with 150g of cottage cheese (vlf of course) and season with salt/pepper/mixed herbs.

Spread veggies over the base of a flan tin sprayed with a little fry light (or any kind of baking tin) then pour over the egg mixture.

Bake in the oven at 180 for about 25 to 30 minutes.

Can be eaten hot or cold. Great to snack on, or serve as a lunch with a big salad.

Furball · 10/01/2011 07:59

are those glorified pot noodles mug shots still free?

GandTiceandaslice · 10/01/2011 08:00

Back to class this morning.

Got about 18lbs to lose by my scales. So will buy a 12 week countdown.

Dreading it a bit. Also can't stay to class as have demon toddler & I don't think it's fair to inflict him on everyone else! Grin
