Wynken broke the other thread!

Have been so busy at work, only in the door a few minutes. Haven't eaten yet, but weirdly not hungry.
Must have something otherwise will suddenly get ravenous.
Looks like everyone is doing ok though.
Am actually looking at Shred DVD (Still in its cellophane wrapping!)but too wrecked to start doing it today.

I'm stuck on some syn value! Please help. I had a nestle skinny cappachino (milk from my healthy extra) and a small bag (the snack size) of animal biscuits. Any help? I'm wondering if I could work it out? Like 50 cals = 1 syn?!

Riamotivated · 29/11/2010 22:07

gunna - a vague "rule" is divide the calorie content by 20...

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 29/11/2010 22:13

Will catch up properly tomorrow. Gunna, 5.5syns for the animals. The coffee wasn't on the database but an the nutritional values through the syn calculator and it said 2.5syns, if I have done it correctly.

whensitgunnahappen · 29/11/2010 22:22

Thanks! Although I wish you'd said 1 syn for everything! Day one and 5 syns over! Casburys roses are the devil! Xx

ditavonteesed · 30/11/2010 07:25

I have man flu, both kids off and am not doing well at all, also doubting very much that the shopping will make it to us tonight. well done lulu that is not a bad gain at all.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 30/11/2010 08:19

Hide the Roses Gunna or feed them to the DC's what's a bit of tooth decay! But seriously, you've done the first day. Maybe aim to stick to 19 syns today to balance out yesterday.

Dita, sorry you're feelng ill. I hope the shopping does get through. I just said to DH earlier how I was glad the forecast was wrong and we had no snow and it's flipping started snowing.

Melty, glad you are feeling better. Hope the conference goes well, enjoy not having to cook.

Lulumaam, that gain will be off in no time I think when we go off plan we build it up in our heads as being so much worse than it is actually is and wouldn't have batted an eyelid at it pre SW.

I am nervously gearing up for first Propoints WI tomorrow. Walked dog for an hour yesterday and did 20 mins of step on the Wii in the hope of burning off some extra calories.

Lulumaam · 30/11/2010 09:19

thanks for the encouragement, i know i will lose the 1.5 and more this week

the scary thing is, that is how i used to eat frequently. not just for a few days.

anyway, I am making beef casserole with lots of veg and jacket potatoes for dinner.. so nice comfort food. not had breakky yet, don't feel hungry, so going to do my errands and then eat something.

DD had to come with me last night to SW and help as i do the ;shop' as the lady who usually does it is ill, and DD was so good.. we couldn't stay for the image therapy though which is a shame, as i've missed two now.. but the group leader gave us a pack of the Hi fi bars to try , the choc & orange ones, as a thank you !

they are 6 syns or a HEx b so could have that with a hot choccy (2 syns) for brekky/elevenses when i get back in

izquierda · 30/11/2010 10:01

Morning all!

I clambered onto my scales just now and am of the firm belief that, had there been a class last night, I would have hit my target, but I now have to get through another week.

I had hoped to go to another class nearby this morning but we have deep snow and I can't get the car out.

Going to be at home all day so plan to do some cooking - a tasty casserole or two!

It's been really difficult losing this weight this time round so I am enjoying seeing such a low reading on my scales and don't want to sabotage things over the next seven days.

mrswoodentop · 30/11/2010 12:15

Hi,I joined slimmingworld last week, have about 2.5stone to lose, but have just been diagnosed with a hip problem so have an incentive as the less weight I am carrying the better really.

This thread is very inspirational ,i am in awe of some of you !Hope i can keep things up,still feeling my way a bit at the moment ,need to think of some more imaginative breakfasts and organise myself better on balancing syns etc

izquierda · 30/11/2010 14:17

Hi MrsW - glad you could join the thread, I've found it helpful here, there are some great ladies making fantastic progress.

Getting your head round the SW system is half the battle, so take advantage of the knowledgeable ladies here (myself excepted, I'm still getting my head round it myself!!)

whatkungfuthat · 30/11/2010 16:36

Welcome new ladies and hope you feel better soon Dita Grin

Not sure I'm going to lose much this week. My DS1 has gone to Austria with the school and I'm missing him like mad so trying not to comfort eat!

littledolly · 01/12/2010 08:42

Hello all
This is my first time actually posting on this thread, even though I read it most days!
I have forgotten my lunch today, and wondered if anyone can tell me if there are any tinned soups that I can buy that are either a Healthy Extra or low in syns?
Thanks!

whatkungfuthat · 01/12/2010 12:57

Well done Wynken Grin Grin

ditavonteesed · 01/12/2010 13:19

wow well done wynken, I am still ill, eating whatever I fancy, will worry about it when i feel better.

Lulumaam · 01/12/2010 14:36

brilliant wynken !! well done !!

i need to lose 3lbs this week to break the 2 stone barrier

am finding options turkish delight hot choc is helping with my choccy craving

had leftover casserole and jacket spud for lunch todya and going to make aubergine bake for tea

catch you all later xx

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 01/12/2010 18:21

Thanks everyone. Dita, hope you feel better very soon. Definitely don't worry about it until you feel better.

Kungfu, are you due a WI tomorrow and if so do you have snow issues ?

Lulumaam, I have a low cal hot chocolate most nights, perfect on this weather. I think I need to make more stews really, will try tomorrow.

I'm going to do WW again this week as I enjoyed it, had a Chinese, an embarrassing 5 whispa bars and a hot choc in Costa. I've been using SW as a sort of guide for the majority of my meals, I think it's just the WW system applies some discipline on the portion size side of things, I've upped my protein levels and reduced my carbs which I think suits me better and I've exercised more this week. Will see what week 2 brings.

Lulumaam · 01/12/2010 19:32

here is how i make my stew

go to butchers and buy cubed stewing steak or beef

go to asda and buy a pack of ready prepped casserole veg

sling both in the slow cooker, add 1/2 pint of oxo beef stock ( free, I use 3 stock cubes so extra meaty) and 1 - 2 tbsp gravy granules * oyu need ot syn it, but it's negligible really, and a 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder

salt & pepper

switch on slow cooker, leave for 6 hours

jacket spuds or rice or SW chips with it and you are stuffed!

Melty · 01/12/2010 20:20

So am still here.
Was meant to travel this morning.
Got up at 4am, and didnt go anywhere, because of snow every where else. Went into office at about 10, once we realised not going anywhere today.
Going to give in another go tomorrow morning.
Am very very sleepy now.
Taxi picking me up at 3am.

Felt irresistable urge to eat crap, started eating crap,(Actualy bought an M&S ready meal of onion rings, breaded mushrooms and popcorn chicken which could easily have polished off the whole lot a few months ago, but miraculously couldnt eat it.) I took it out of the oven, and was repulsed by the amount of oil on the tray.
Had wholemeal sandwich and some fruit.
Think I must be mentally ill!
Besides that abberation, I have eaten really well today.

Wynken, 5 wispa bars?? Am impressed! Grin
Nice to see how well everyone is eating in this awful weather.
Stews and hearty soups are just the thing. And its so easy to make them syn free (Or freeish).
I am very conscious of any prepared soups I pick up these days and I cant get over how much fat is in them. I can make really tasty soups, using cheffy recipes, but omiting the butter/oil.

Wynken, we do have snow here but not enough to really affect driving. That said I am not going to WI as I have to try and sort out whether DS1 is coming back from Vienna today as his flight appears to be cancelled, and the school are suspiciously quiet Angry

According to the wii I've lost about 2 pounds so fingers crossed for next week (hoping to hit my 5%)

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 02/12/2010 13:59

Lulumaam, thank you, guess what is in my slow cooker!

Melty, did I really type my Wispa shame, oh yes, so I did! I was just er, testing the plan! Well done on not eating what you bought, that really is will power and does show a shift in attitude. Hope you have been able to get to where you need to be.

Kungfu, well done on your Wii loss. I hope you are in possession of your DS and that he had a good time. Vienna is my favourite city I have been to.

Snow has finally hit Dorset so the schools are shut . We've spent a couple of hours in the woods sledging so hopefully shivered off a few calories and am in need of sitting in front of the fire. Can't wait till tea.

Lulumaam · 02/12/2010 16:33

bloodyhell Melty !!

and 5 wispas!? respect ! that knocks my two chocolate oranges off the top spot

not had a brilliant couple of days, but very much more back on track than i was. prob having more like 15 - 20 syns a day but am so cold !! fruit & yoghurt is not as tempting as a snack when you're so cold.

Riamotivated · 02/12/2010 22:12

well done on the loss, wynkenSmile, but 5 wispas over a week is hardly worth mentioningWinkGrin

hope you are safely tucked up in your hotel melty

hope your DS is home safe too kungfu.

schools closed here again. diet healthy eating plan non-existentBlush, no excuse, I am just crap in the run up to christmas. Had a great day yesterday though (apart from my mum is cross with me, but she'll get over it and am avoiding her) We were invited by a friend of DHs to the Hairy Bikers filming their xmas special at a local manor house. The boys had a great time, they watched the cooking being filmed with DH, but DS3 didn't want to sit in a freezing cold marquee - instead we spent 2 hours in the grounds of the hall playing in a chuffing blizzard!!! (and occasionally being brave enough to creep into the hall in front of the fire, until I felt like a pleb and we went out again).

We were invited back to DHs friends for supper too. The boys fed the horses and sheep, and went sledging, though it was difficult for 3 dog-phobic children as there were 9 dogs! Lovely chilli and jacket spuds, and a huge amount of wine. It was like being a child again for me as I grew up on a farm and used to feed sheep in the dark and stuffSmile. I am a bit Envy though. what is the secret of being so laid-back that you can just invite loads of people round to eat on the spur of the moment? It stresses me out so much, just having one friend round for coffeeBlush

good luck to all with imminent WIs, hope the snow doesn't upset too many plans
