Wynken broke the other thread!

Have been so busy at work, only in the door a few minutes. Haven't eaten yet, but weirdly not hungry.
Must have something otherwise will suddenly get ravenous.
Looks like everyone is doing ok though.
Am actually looking at Shred DVD (Still in its cellophane wrapping!)but too wrecked to start doing it today.

Ria, I think the secret of being that laid-back is cleaning staff! Grin

DS1 got back safely but original flight was cancelled so there was a lot of phoning, faffing about and waiting around. They had to sit on the plane for 2 hours after landing to wait for a parking slot! All the kids that went have SEN so they did really well to sit for so long without incident. We are north of London and both the flight he got and the cancelled one were Heathrow so it wasn't the snow that caused the cancellation.

I'm afraid I turned to the Pringles like I tend to do in times of stress Blush

Riamotivated · 03/12/2010 22:40

glad he is home safe. I hope he enjoyed it and the travel hassle didn't taint the experience too much for him. Only pringles? I would have boosted sales of junk food hugely (though I have fond memories of my DS1 going "outward bond" for 5 days - I coped admirablyWink)

There wasn't a lot of evidence of cleaning staff TBHWink Maybe it was the lack of children?

ditavonteesed · 04/12/2010 08:22

yay have lost 4lbs this week, flu seems to have shifted the weight, didnt eat for three days though, expect it is going to go straight back on when I start eating normally again.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 04/12/2010 10:50

Glad you have your DS back safe and sound Kungfu.

Dita, good you are feeling better. Brilliant loss, though not a nice way to achieve it. Hopefully if you stick at it, the loss will stabilise even if you do go up a bit for a day or two.

This is where it's going to get really tricky for us all I think, December. But I reckon if we keep plugging away, relaxing a little won't do any real harm, damage limitation will be the name of the game for a bit.

I'm shattered this morning. I spent the day at DS's school apart from 2 hours, helping do the Christmas fair. Has a big protein breakfast which helped then sausage and bacon sarnies for lunch. All the protein really seemed to help and I managed not to eat anything all the time I was on the cake stall. Plus I must have burned off some calories carrying things around.

whatkungfuthat · 04/12/2010 12:01

Well done Dita, and glad you are feeling better. Horrible way to lose it though. DS1 had a great time thanks, oblivious to the chaos getting home!

I am really going to try to limit my xmas badness to xmas day and boxing day. I have a WI on 23rd so the thought of that hanging over me should keep me on track till then hopefully Hmm Xmas eve is hard as I always make rocky road (nigella recipe) to leave out for FC, and its deadly Xmas Grin

Riamotivated · 04/12/2010 21:18

lucky Father ChristmasWink

yay dita, and glad you are feeling better.

I have an almost obsessively clean kitchen, and am tired.

DS1 is in the school choir so singing at a church service tomorrow, then Monday begins my week of blitzing the living room so the decorations can go up. Lots of toast I fear.

Riamotivated · 04/12/2010 21:20

wynken, do you think weekend school fairs do better? ours is on Monday. (I feel very sorry for the lady in charge as the donations should have been in on Friday, but school was closed, so she will have it all to do on Monday...not sure if I'm moved enough to offer to help though/ She is lovely but the rest of the PTA are witchesWink)

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 04/12/2010 22:18

Kungfu, I'm going to WI on 23rd too and also hope it will keep a check on things. There's on the week after so will go to that as well.

Ria, well done on the kitchen, come and do mine lease! I wasn't very clear on the fair, it was yesterday straight after school. Not all the children were in yesterday and by 5pm it was pretty much finished. I guess it will be a fair bit short of last year's total which is a shame but at least it went ahead. I took a deep breath and joined the PTA as most of the current people are leaving this year and I thought I should probably step up for once in my life. Was doing the cakes with the Mum of one of the girls in DS's class who I didn't really know before but is lovely and it was good to talk to her. We're a bit worried though that we'll have to organise it all next year as there will be no one left and neither of us had a clue about what we were supposed to be doing.

It was all a bit of an eye opener, huge amount of work went into it and I felt a bit guilty about some less than charitable thoughts I've had about the PTA at a couple of other schools. This lot seem pretty OK though, all fairly down to earth with none of the bickering over milk that I overheard outside DD's old school that made me want to go up to them and say, look, it's a pint of milk , get a grip and a life!

whatkungfuthat · 05/12/2010 10:47

Wynken, my group isn't on the following week which is going to really stretch my resolve as I am likely to get into the mindset of having a week to 'make up for it'

Have to hang my head in shame as I didn't help out at xmas fayre but I am new to this primary and they seem a bit cliquey Xmas Blush

I've just seen the mn recipe for chocolate brownies that I may add to the xmas eve baking fest that I do, more for FC!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 05/12/2010 11:57

That's a pain Kungfu, we'll have to do a WI on here to keep going.

Absolutely do not hang your head in shame, it took me 7 years to get round to helping ! If you do the brownies and decide to point them I'd be very interested in what they work out at ......

DontCallMeBaby · 05/12/2010 22:43

I have shockingly COMPLETELY ignored DD's school Christmas fair this year. In my defence, it was yesterday and it was our wedding anniversary, but that's not why we didn't go, we didn't go because I HATE it. The summer fair is lovely, but the Christmas fair is just TOO MANY PEOPLE in too small a space - crowds up and down the corridors, the older children running five separate stalls in a single classroom. I can't cope with it. I threatened to give the office a tenner in an envelope but haven't even done that.

I bought raffle tickets though, and have ordered three teatowels decorated with (hilarious) self-portraits by DD's classmates ... ho hum.

On the weight front, had a wake-up call at weigh-in - 1.5lb ON. Oops. Kind of surprised it hadn't happened earlier. So far I've had good days Wednesday, Friday and today*, but had lots of lovely lunch yesterday, and fish and chips on Thursday night after DD sang in the choir for the Christmas lights going on. Also been for a run (before the pavements iced up), swimming and to zumba yesterday.

  • if you count skipping breakfast and having cake for lunch 'good'
whatkungfuthat · 06/12/2010 09:13

DCMB, I can't rememember the last time I had fish & chips but I did have a curry saturday night, and a prawn puree starter Blush

Xmas is doing my head in this year as there are so many different things that the DS's are doing, at different schools, that its a full time job just making sure they have everything on the correct day, its all paid for and we turn up when we should. It can only get worse as DS2 is only in reception!

I have my renunion/gig thing on Thursday and fingers crossed I should be 3.5 stone down for it from when the diet started.

Riamotivated · 06/12/2010 11:18

hmm, wake-up call. My mum poked my hips and stomach and said I looked like I'd put weight on againBlush. Of course I lied through my teeth and just said I hadn't lost any for ages... BUGGER! Will think about it tomorrow.

have volunteered to help se up the fair this afternoon as I am child-free for 2 hours, but can't help at the actual event as need to keep tabs on the boys. If the head so much as looks at me I may well flip though. Wish we had an alternative school.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 06/12/2010 11:27

DCMB, I think a few gains along the way are inevitable, especially this time of year. Which is why we all have to focus on the bigger picture ie. how much we've lost and hopefully how much better we feel. I certainly do when I think back to the summer. My blood pressure went right down as I hit my 10% which is great and I am far more active. I am bored rigid of step plus on the Wii and need to find something else I can do from home, anyone any suggestions ?

Kungfu, 3.5 stone is flipping amazing, you have done brilliantly. I nearly had a curry Saturday night but got into a points flap and wussed it with a Chinese. Am still propointing this week and am looking forward to see how I've done on Wednesday. Right with you on the school stuff, I feel like I'm rapidly losing the plot with it all this week plus have two nights where I'm out to contend with. Next weekend my Dad is down and we're doing Christmas.

Right, where is everyone gone ? I know things are really hectic right now but come back and have a very quick chat, even if it isn't about weight, have a Christmas rant or something, the weight stuff can come back into action in January !

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 06/12/2010 11:29

Ria, didn't see you there. That's pretty rude of your Mum, don't let it get to you. Good luck with the fair this afternoon. I came to the conclusion that coping with the actual fair bit is to give the DC's money and tell them it is a race to see who can spend it the fastest, then you get to go home !

whatkungfuthat · 06/12/2010 11:39

Ria, if its any consolation my mum is one of those disgustingly rude old girls who believes in 'speaking her mind' Angry

whatkungfuthat · 06/12/2010 11:40

Just to compound my Xmas Fayre guilt further I just got a call to say we won a raffle prize Xmas Blush

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 06/12/2010 11:50

Love it Kungfu Grin You wouldn't have any Christmas fair guilt if it wasn't for me, I'm very sorry. It has taken me 7 years to get round to doing anything if that makes you feel better.

mrswoodentop · 06/12/2010 12:01

Sorry I haven't been back for a couple of days we had a frantic weekend.Had my first weigh in last Thursday and had lost 1.5 pounds ,not a lot but a start!was pleased anyway.
Have had a rubbish weeekend re weightloss though as people in for meals etc and ferrtying children everywhere ,am back onto it today though!

whatkungfuthat · 06/12/2010 12:50

S'okay Wynken, the school(s) are doing quite a good job on the guilt front too! Mrs W it may not be as bad as you think especially if you've been very busy Smile

Lulumaam · 06/12/2010 14:33

hi all ! congratulations to everyone who's lost and keep going if not

I am back (ish) in the zone, it is soooooooo hard in this weather, am so cold ( colder than less winter when i had more blubber!) and feel hungry all the time. meals i am sticking to SW principles on the whole. just a bit more snacking than i should be doing. hope i have maintained or lost a 1lb or so this week. i will be lucky to have done based on how i've been !!

anyhoo, on a more positive note, the Uggs I ordered weeks ago finally arrived and are adorning my feet today, so I have warm happy feet

Melty · 06/12/2010 20:07

So, I'm back.
Conference was so so.
Food was a bit Hmmm.
Not SW friendly at all, and although I tried to make sensible choices, there werent really any.
There was so much bloody bread!
And I managed to get through a large toblerone by myself over the course of sat night and yesterday. Blush No excuse for that whatsoever
So forgot to weigh this am, probably subconscious telling me its nto a good idea...
Ill do it in the morning and see whats what.

I am going to cook a nice SW dinner that I can eat tomorrow too, and hopefully will get back on track.

Lulumaam · 06/12/2010 20:48

You have to make allowances for this time of year and xmas food and parties etc..

I maintained this week which I am delighted with after still being a bit off plan, but going for it this week, just 2 lbs to get to 2 stone off and I k now that will be such a help!

Melty · 07/12/2010 07:27

I put on 3lbs.Shock
Yikes.
Thats not good. (Although not surprising. Bread does not suit me in large quantities, not to mention toblerones.)
However, size 16 trousers still fit just fine.

Breathe, back on track. Back on track.
I am determined not to ruin what I have done so far by. Have still lost 19.5 lbs.
