Wynken broke the other thread!

Have been so busy at work, only in the door a few minutes. Haven't eaten yet, but weirdly not hungry.
Must have something otherwise will suddenly get ravenous.
Looks like everyone is doing ok though.
Am actually looking at Shred DVD (Still in its cellophane wrapping!)but too wrecked to start doing it today.

OP posts:
WynkenBlynkenandNod · 25/11/2010 13:42

Oh goodness Ria, your poor sister. I'm glad DS is back.

whatkungfuthat · 25/11/2010 14:01

Wynken, sorry I forgot to say well done on the 2 stone Grin Hope you like PP, I am enjoying the luxury of things like buying and M&S prawn sandwich for lunch if I am out shopping and not feeling guilty (8pp if its eat well).

Ria, your poor sister, and you! The house feels really cold now and we haven't got the really cold weather yet, I've turned the oven on! I think what surprised me at SW with consulants weight etc, was that a few weeks ago an area manager came and talked about becoming consultants. It was a really hard sell and didn't seem to take into account how long a person had been doing it and their weightloss 'journey'. Its probably a mindset in my area rather than typical though. I'll shut up about it now Smile

desiretochange · 25/11/2010 14:11

Back again Blush, another quick question re slimming world, bottle of red wine how many syns??

bigbeautifulbras · 25/11/2010 14:18

I always work on 24 per 75cl bottle as it divides into 4 for small glasses or 3 for bigger glasses. I think it's 26 or 27 really though.

desiretochange · 25/11/2010 14:26

Thanks bigbeaut, was discussing it at lunchtime with friend (we both drink red wine) and she reckoned there were 6 syns a glass so we were wondering what the bottle would be? Think we are going to have to rethink what we will drink now:):)

whatkungfuthat · 25/11/2010 14:36

DTC - most spirits are 2 syns a shot, not the same though is it Wink

desiretochange · 25/11/2010 14:45

Definitely not the same WKFT - unfortunately Wink

ditavonteesed · 25/11/2010 15:46

wynken well done on the 2 stone, that is amazing, I havent even made it to1 yet although am hoping to this week.
desiure glad your back in the zone. I do like a noce vodka and diet coke of an evening, replaced my couple of cans of lager which has got to be good.
had a naughty chinese last night but back in the zone, am out tom though, and dh's borthday next week so I can see things being a bit tricky over the next week, we are going to pizza express for dhs birthday, so what does everyone reckon will be best to eat?
am very pleases to have undone the last year of eating, just another year to go and I will be back where I want to be.

Lulumaam · 25/11/2010 16:33

i think regardless of whetehr SW or WW, we're all doing really well, even if not massive weighloss all the time, we're supporting each other and spurring each other on

i would be Blush to tell you what i've eaten the last few days but am firmly back in the saddle today..

i did enjoy it but more worried about what the scales will say on monday

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 25/11/2010 16:45

Dita, I've been at this for 18 weeks now and have shedloads to go. Nearly a stone is a lot of weight to not be carrying around as I found when I was lugging marrows earlier this year!

This thread is brilliant and I'm sure I'd have been faffing around a lot more without it. It's so helpful to be able to log on and get support or a virtual kick up the butt when needed. I can't wait to see what our combined loss is at Christmas.

whatkungfuthat · 25/11/2010 16:58

Dita I've got stones to go yet, can't even think about the prospect of getting in a 12 any time soon! You are doing brilliantly Grin

samandsophsmam · 25/11/2010 20:15

Hiya can I join please? I need some support, had three DD's in 3.5years and have about 2 stone to lose but can't afford to go to class. I have done it before and lot 3 stone but am struggling this time. Does anyone know how many syns those Eat Natural bars are?

DontCallMeBaby · 25/11/2010 22:54

Just checking in cos this has fallen off threads I'm on ... well and truly in fact. I'll be back properly sometime soon!

In the meantime ... samandsophsmam, you probably don't want to know - the Lunchies bars are a reasonable 5.5 syns, comparable with other cereal bars, but some of the others are LOTS more. Up to 14 syns. Shock

upsydaisysexstylist · 26/11/2010 07:01

Melty, well done. I think we just have to keep going, have accepted how long it will take, and concentrating on the fact I have lost over a third of what I want to lose.

Think I am very lucky with my consultant, she's very bubbly and honest aboput her own struggles I can really beleive she's lost over 5st and I kinow she rings people up in the week and encourages them if needed.

I survived Ikea yesterday, and even spent less than I'd planned am now clinging to the belief ds1 will keep his room tidier when the man in the van arrives with storage solutions. Unless we have snow !

ditavonteesed · 26/11/2010 07:30

upsy, i love ikea so much, I did really well at the weekend becasue we always stop for food, everyone else had meatballs and I had salmon salad. He might not keep his room any todier but it will be easier for you to tidy.
thanks wynken and kung fu, I was being a bit self pitying yesterday so sorry.
s&smam, welcoem and this thread is definatley as good as any group, how old are your dd's, bear in mind if ypou are still feeding any you get extra syns, the others will have to tell you how many though.
hope your feeling better now melty, and rial hope you havent caught it. I have dd2 stuck at home and perfectly well toady, she was sick on Weds at nursery so cant go back althpough she wasnt sick again so I dont think it coulld have been a bug, anyway going to have a nice shopping trip with her, she can help me choose a new top for tonight and we will have babycino's in Marks. Smile really need to make the most of her before Jan.

ditavonteesed · 26/11/2010 07:30

sorry every post I do seems like an essay at the mo.

upsydaisysexstylist · 26/11/2010 08:20

Hey, Dita essays are good. If you are feeding babies newbies it is 4 extra healthy extras and use all your syns, when exclusively bf and drops to 1 after 6mnths. I specifically went for SW as knew extra WW points would be spent on chocolate, instead of calcium rich lovely lovely chesse.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 26/11/2010 08:31

Welcome Samandsophsmum. I don't know about those cereals bars, sorry. The Alpen lights are lovely, 2 for a healthy extra or 3 syns each.

Upsy, a third of the total is really brilliant. I'm hoping to be at that stage at Christmas. I need to lose 100lbs which is very handy for working out percentages, 28% is my current total. If the storage and room tidied thing works I'll need precise details of what you bought to try and sort DD!

Dita, you were absolutely not being self pitying. I'm glad your DD is feeling better. This is absolutely where this thread is excellent, the days where you need support in between groups.

I'm going to need some help in the New Year. My Mum is going to do SW after Christmas but not go to group unless she can't do it. Now she isn't the easiest of people and it will be a challenge but she has the huge carrot of our Thailand holiday at the end of next year. She loves cake so I figure if I can work it so she has cake most days from her syns then I have more chance of getting her to stick to it. And she will benefit so much from losing as really can hardly walk, wheezes and was out of breath just waving the wii remote trying to getbthe cursor onto the wii fit channel the other day. I really can't imagine getting her to Heathrow and coping with a longhaul flight until she is much thinner and fitter. If any of you come across any good value for syns cake in the next few weeks would you mind letting me know so I can get some in ready for when she starts ? Thank you !

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 26/11/2010 08:32

I always seem to do essays !

upsydaisysexstylist · 26/11/2010 10:20

The Christmas cookbook has a yule log which is basically, fatless sponge ( like swiss roll)filled with fat free fromage frais, sweetner and an options sachet, tis 3 syns a slice and serves 8 so even pigging out on would not be to bad

findingtheRialme · 26/11/2010 10:34

morning all. another snow-day for DS2 today, though DS1 at school and DS3 at playgroup.

am in a non-diet related quandry today. Dsis was meant to be coming for lunch tomorrow with her DC, and to go to the village xmas market... her DS has stopped being sick now, but had D&V yesterday, she felt ill last night but wasn't sick... and it seems she is still thinking of coming tomorrowShock I know IABU, and possibly a little selfish, but I don't think she could come. We only have to have an insignificant sniffle and she will ring and cancel saying "we don't want your germs thank you", but I don't have the balls to ring her and say the same. I had a cold on Wednesday and she told my mum that she hoped I was better for tomorrow as her kids would be SO disappointed (no thought for mine when she cancelsHmm). Sorry for wittering on, just needed to shareWink so I can build up my confidence for a phone call later.

It is incredibly cold.

whatkungfuthat · 26/11/2010 11:29

Ria she is being very very unreasonable not you! What I would do is lie and say I'd been sick to avoid the confrontation but I have very few morals Grin

whatkungfuthat · 26/11/2010 11:30

Also Envy at village xmas market, sounds lovely! If we had one it would be drowned out by the gentle hum of the M25

samandsophsmam · 26/11/2010 14:32

Dontcallmebaby-thanks for that and you are right I really didn't want to know. But its eaten now oops! Haha. I carried on struggling all day anyway and ended up blowing it in a big way at 9.10pm. I do not know what is wrong with me..... I want it so badly and just keep failing. Is it because I am not going to meetings? Sad
Dita- my DD's are just 4, middle one is 3 in march and littleun is 6 months. Not feeding anymore. Life is so busy and I am getting so down about my weight, you would think I don't have time to think about food but evenings are just the worst. I mean it is 2.27pm and I just eaten the first thing of the day! Exercise is hard because I broke both leg bones when I was 27 weeks with this baby and it hasn't healed properly. The metal plates seem to be causing me a problem!
Sorry I only just joined this thread and I am rambling on!!

DontCallMeBaby · 26/11/2010 16:07

s&smam (good abbreviation dita!) - I've got to admit, those bars are in the 200+ calorie range and if I could honestly say I'd had one instead of breakfast, say, I'd not consider it a problem. The trouble is when you have something with a lot of calories for its size, it's not filling so you eat more - SW is based around this, encouraging foods that ARE filling so you don't need to snack. If you comfort eat it can fail because you eat when you're not hungry, meanwhile if you're bloody minded and don't eat when you're hungry because you KNOW you've eaten something high-calorie/non-filling you can still lose weight.

Anyway, I know I'd be dreadful at it myself if I had as much going on as you do, but it sounds like you need to make sure you eat properly, three meals a day and planned snacks. Have SW-friendly, low-effort foods in. I know that when I don't eat much in the day not only am I starving by the evening I also over-compensate by eating absolutely loads later on. I'm naughty myself because I rarely eat breakfast, but I'm strict about morning snacks because of ths - if I'm going to snack at work, I just eat my lunch early. Then if I have to go from 10.30am to 5.30pm with just some fruit, that's my look-out.
