Wynken broke the other thread!

Have been so busy at work, only in the door a few minutes. Haven't eaten yet, but weirdly not hungry.
Must have something otherwise will suddenly get ravenous.
Looks like everyone is doing ok though.
Am actually looking at Shred DVD (Still in its cellophane wrapping!)but too wrecked to start doing it today.

I to am being determined about xmas. Is silly as I know I've lost weight so far this week and have some syns in reserve so to speak, minestrone has fended off disire to run to corner shop for a bounty. Actually chocolate is ok as long as in syns it's the white flour products I need to steer clear of and am 9lb off 14st which is my target. My problem is going to be after xmas, when ds2 is being weaned, I put weight on then with ds1 as had got used to eating extra. My booklet says to drop from 4 extra HE's to 1, but this seems quite a big drop to me as will be doing BLW and if he's anything like ds1 he will take a few mnths to eat an appricable amount. Do any of you think it would be more sensible to drop them off gradually if I start maintaining.

I know I won't stick to a diet that is too low in calories for my expenditure and if my energy levels start dipping I am likely to jack it all in especially in grey depths of winter

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 22/11/2010 08:23

I'd drop down in stages Upsy and see how it goes.

Am trying doing weekly syns at the moment to give me more flexibility and see if that works OK as am feeling a little constricted at the moment but don't want to blow it.

whatkungfuthat · 22/11/2010 08:30

Upsy, that seems a big drop! I would start small and see how it goes, if you drop 3 at once you can't go back so you may get a big loss quickly then rebound. I am desperate to try and lose another stone for xmas, as I know I will gain a bit over that weekend. I keep saying I'll only relax on the food for Xmas day and boxing day Hmm

ditavonteesed · 22/11/2010 08:35

upsy agree with the others, do it gradually.
kungfu I have also decided that about xmas, why undo months of work for a few weeks excess.
I was planning to start and shred again today but dd1 is off school as she was sick yesterday, she is absolutly fine today but rules is rules. might still do it depending on how demanding she is being.
got to go and buy a new mobile today as my mobile has died and I can not possibly live without a mobile my whole life is organised by my mobile, plus I dont feel safe walking dog at night and things without it.
I was saintly yesterday, we had to go to ikea, and the rest of my mob had meat balls, I had a smoked salmon salad, and it was lovely, really enjoyed it, I think sometimes I crave junk but I dont even like it when I have it, just eat it for the sake of it.

whatkungfuthat · 22/11/2010 09:06

Dita, how are you finding the Pro Points? At the meeting last week loads of people hadn't started it or only did it for half the week. Its easier for me changing from SW as I didn't know the points values of things so would have had to look everything up anyway. Had a Curry at the weekend, the first one in about 5 months, but I did have mushroom rice, a poppadom and a whole peshwari naan with it Blush. Hitting the Wii boxing today and intend to shred Hmm

Mum72 · 22/11/2010 09:42

hello can I join in please.

I have been going to SW now for 5 weeks and have lost 1stone and 1lb in that time. I am very pleased on the whole.

I am only 5ft tall and even with my weightloss weigh 12 1/2 stone. I dont think I will ever get to the 8stone something those weight/height charts say I should be - my goal is to get very easily into a size 14. I was a size 18 before I started and am now into a 16 in most shops so still a way to go.

I have been combining SW with ALOT of Gymming and swimming!

Have enjoyed some the crazy SW food so far such as the vile sounding Mushy Pea Curry that I actually enjoyed!

mad4mainecoons · 22/11/2010 17:27

Eeeek weigh in tonight! first week doing extra easy and i must admit on really dubious about it after being so sucsessful on the red and green, dont feel any lighter Sad

wish me luck ladies.

Lulumaam · 22/11/2010 21:40

how did it go?

i lost another 3 lbs this week, but reckon that i will gain this week as went a bit crazy, but 7 lbs off over two weeks, i can cope with that !!

maygirl · 22/11/2010 22:13

Hope the new week has started well for you all ladies!

Had to miss WI last week but think I'd lost, fitted into some pre-preg jeans Grin

Has anyone tried the slimming world style KFC recipe on minimins ? Cooked it for a Friday night treat for the family with SW chips and was gorgeous! Had piles veg with it; as I had skinless chicken I cooked my veg in with the poaching chicken and it made the carrots lush!

Veg biryani with syn free curry sauce tonight, love spicy food here! Must try the mushy pea one!

Good luck for this weeks WIs. Hoping for club 10 myself, need 2.5 pounds.

izquierda · 22/11/2010 23:10

Hi again everyone, I had meant to come back on the thread before now but have had a crazy week, including DH's birthday - two meals out including one "slap-up" one with all the trimmings and many many syns.

Even though I didn't manage to post since last week, wanted to say I have been reading lots of your posts.

Ladies you are amazing! It's a cliche but you are - not just because you're doing so well at SW but because you offer so much warmth and support, advice and kindness so freely given.

Well, I 've come home delighted although I think I've winged it a bit this week and have lost another 2lbs much to my delight.

So that's 9 out of my 10lbs lost now. It has been so difficult this time round - taken me nearly three months whereas in the past I think I could have lost 10lbs in about 5 weeks.

I have been disappointed in my group though. We don'thave a permanent consultant and it seems not many members stay to class. The upside of that is we get perhaps a more personal sort of chat with the consultant; the downside is that the group feels like it's on its last legs.

My next challenge will be to keep attending as a target member. I've been at target before and - you've guessed it - thought I could do it by myself at home. And guess what, I can't and I put the weight back on.

Anyway thanks for letting me share! Will enjoy reading how you've all got on. Love and best wishes to you all!!

izquierda · 22/11/2010 23:17

Welcome Mum72

Hey, you are doing really well, congratulations.

I had high hopes that combining SW with gym and swim would really "do it for me" this time. I was a bit disappointed at first as my weight loss was so slow but as the weeks have gone by it seems to all have had a cumulative effect and these past two weeks I've lost 4.5 lbs altogether.

It's actually given me confidence to go out locally and do some jogging/alternating with fast walking.

You sound very sensible as regards aiming for a dress size rather than a specific weight.

I just tried on some jeans tonight which had been fitting much too tightly and giving me a muffin top. They now look and feel a lot better - and so do I!

I am sure, like me, you'll get lots of encouragement and support from the ladies on here.

Mum72 · 22/11/2010 23:24

Izquiderda - Thank you and well done. Nothing feels so good as fitting back into those old clothes that had become too snug!!

I have a pair of jeans I love. Last wore them out November 5th 2009. They were getting a bit snug then but have since got stuck between the knee and the bum. I am seriously thinking about digging them out and seeing if I can fit into them yet.

ditavonteesed · 23/11/2010 07:15

kung fu, ~I am likeing the pro points, but I am a bit of a list maker anyway so I enjoy writing everything down. Most of the people at our group are doing it and losing lots. Starting to wonder about coming over to the other side tbh am getting really fed up of 1lb losses and tbh I think I have maintained this week.
Mum72 that is a good goal, I think we all focus so much on the actual numbers and forget about what we are really trying to acheive.
Lulu Envy I am going to fall out with you soon, well done you are on a roll,
May girl cant possible imagine how you can do a fat free version of kfc, impressed it tasted good.
iz- i did the same with some jeans yesterday, really makes you feel good about yourself doesnt it.

Mad4 how did you get on?
Cant decide whether to go tonight or not, am feeling very unmnotivated at the moment and I am not sure I can be bothered to scrimp around for £6 just to be told I have stayed the same. it is my niight out on Friday, no idea what I am going to wear although by the sounds of things snow boots and a jumper might be a good start.
going to see if I manage t fit shredding in today.

Lulumaam · 23/11/2010 10:22

this is such a lovely thread , isn;t it? Smile

we're all in it together!

Dita, i will deffo have a gain this week.. my success has gone to my head and i've had a bit off a fall off the wagon - 1 chocolate orange, chinese including prawn crackers, lunch & dinner out yesterday and am meeting a new friend for coffee today, and i think i might have cake !
however, am wearing a denim mini dress from Next which 2 months ago, i would not have had a cat in hells chance of getting past my knees, never mind zipped up... so , i feel ok about being a bit less strict, but it will be for a few days and the meals i eat will be proper SW.

whatkungfuthat · 23/11/2010 11:12

Hello to the new ladies and well done on the losses Grin

Mum72, you are right to give the charts a miss and lose what makes you feel comfortable. I am sure I read somewhere that the official view on BMI charts has changed now. I know that my DS2 always comes up as overweight but he is so skinny we call him Golem Blush

Lulu I am Envy at the next dress, I have been stalking a coat in there (black, dressy with a ruffle down the front) but can't justify the cost as its really only a going out coat. Fingers crossed its going to be in the sales and I can get a size smaller!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 23/11/2010 17:21

Welcome to the new girls and congratulations to those of you wearing new smaller clothes.

Have just eaten 4 wholemeal pittas, about half a pot of houmous and some olives. Had a bad time with DD at orthodontist (have to practice then go back) came home to find BT engineer plus guy doing the garden. Picked up DS who came out pretty much in tears, came home, opened turkey pack to find it was off. J was starving and that was the only thing I could find in the fridge. That's taken me way over my syns for the week. I've been really really struggling the last couple of weeks and must sort myself out as don't want to lose the plot now, I've lost 25lbs so far which I must focus on

findingtheRialme · 23/11/2010 22:35

hi guys, am posting with my tail firmly between my legs. I am SO tired, and busy with the pre-xmas clean, that I just CBABlush I am really crap when I'm tired.

Missed dance class again this morning, as DH had a hospital appointment. Not sure about Zumba tomorrow either.

well done on losses and perseverance, and welcome to anyone new. It is indeed a lovely thread, which is why I'm still posting, even though I'm being crap.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 23/11/2010 22:54

Ria, come and sit on the naughty bench with me

ditavonteesed · 24/11/2010 06:36

1lb off, didnt go to class last night, have decided that I am not going anymore too much money. anyway I think you guys are better at motivating me than a class. Grin still another 2lbs to a stone, but I have gone into another bmi number, I was 29. something when I started am now 27. something so thats got to be good, size 14 clothes fitting me nicely now, yay.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 24/11/2010 07:04

Size 14 is really great, well done! Can I pay by cheque at WW Dita? I've decided that I'm going to go to a class this morning as there's a special offer on the first month. I did try it for a couple of days before but it was out of anger with my SW leader and not the right thong to do at that time so I'd like to try properly. SW is great but I am definitely feeling bored now and in need of a little flexibility so just want to try WW properly.

ditavonteesed · 24/11/2010 07:37

you can pay with switch, not sure about cheque though. it is funny i was wondering about trying sw, do you get all the books on your first visit, might join and get all the stuff.

upsydaisysexstylist · 24/11/2010 08:09

Dita I got everything on first visit with SW. Welcome to the newbies and Ria and Wynken there is no naughty bench only a simmer down chair! Lost another three and a half lb this week so back on track to be 14st for christmas, five and a half to go and fit in my tweedy trews which I've worn about 3 times as bought just before I got pregnant for the first time in ahem 2006.

whatkungfuthat · 24/11/2010 08:15

Well done Dita Envy First week at SW I got a plastic pack with all the info you need to get started, think it was £10 for that and the first class.

Wynken good luck trying WW, I am really getting the hang of it. I'm not eating a lot differently but have really cut down of potatoes and have increased bread. I think I prefer it as I just view points to be used and spaced out during the day, on SW I was avoiding trying to use syns which bit me in the bum when it all slowed down Smile

nikki1978 · 24/11/2010 10:48

Hey all,

On my 4th day here and all is going well. Had a very very busy day yesterday and got to dinner and realised I had only eaten a packet of rapsberries Blush. So made up for it with a lovely dinner of lots of linguine, a whole thinly sliced courgette and loads of sliced mushrooms fried in Frylight, half a tub of quark mixed with 2tbsps of green pesto (7 syns). Mixed everything together and topped with my HEA of parmesan (28g of parmesan is a huge amount so I reckon I had half that). Ladies if you like pesto you need to try this meal - it is awesome! Grin

Today I made sure I got up in time to have breakfast and had a bacon and egg sarnie on wholemeal bread with mushrooms. Yum - I am loving this diet!

Fingers crossed that I have a good loss on Sat (and hope it doesn't snow so I can actually get there!)

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 24/11/2010 12:01

Right I'm off the simmer down chair ! Upsy that is fab, well done.

Have been to WW and got all the stuff, much easier when you have that to refer to rather than just Esource which I had before. I've decided to give it a proper couple of weeks and see how it goes. I did like the group a fair bit. I am just so bored with SW as have been doing it since the middle of July and figure that a change is as good as a rest. And rather childishly I do feel quite cross with my consulant. Overall she is good but there is an edge to her. She messed up my 12 week voucher thing from the GP and I lost a session. I didn't get a sticker I was due and she in one breath agreed about me cutting syns to 5, then when I went back the next not having lost 3lbs, just the one, said 'Oh I'd never cut my syns' My friend couldn't stay to the meeting as her DD was sick and her horse and dog and the vet was coming out so when she called out her name I said she had to go as she had sick animals and the vet was coming. She looked puzzled, once I'd explained she said 'Oh right, she's a rich bitch', which is what she does sometimes. All little things but together they are annoying me and I need a change as I refuse to let my annoyance sabotage what I have achieved so far. Sorry, bit of an essay there !

Glad it is going well for you Kungfu. I'm deciding whether I'm going to eat bread or not as was quite liking not eating it, but sometimes it does give greater flexibility.

Dita, why don't you join, go once and get the stuff then vanish into oblivion ?! Once you've got the stuff you've got it until they change it again, but I don't think SW will change theirs very much for a bit now they have introduced EE.

Nikki, that sounds like a lovely meal, I will definitely try that one. What a nightmare not to be able to get to your first WI having been good all week due to snow, we'll all keep our fingers crossed for you. On the plus side if it does snow, we'll shiver the weight off.
