Has anyone started on the 9mg?

TerrorAustralis · 03/09/2026 15:16

There’s a 9mg dose? I didn’t even know it went up that high!

What are you on now @Poppycorn123 ?

Thanks to the posters who wished me well on 1mg, so far it's been really good in terms of satiety and consistently eating less than I used to.

A while back I mentioned that I was trying out just eating a little bit of everything rather than sticking to strictly diet/nutrition based choices. After a few months I can say this has probably slowed my weight loss but it's been much healthier mentally. I don't ever feel deprived and that was always my pitfall!

On the downside however, although my period has returned, the latest one has gone on for more than a week so I am starting to get a little concerned. Menstrual changes do seem to be a known side effect of Wegovy for some people. One thing I read said it's to do with the estrogen being released from where it's stored in your fat, but I'm not enough of a scientist to know whether that's right. I will keep a record and tell the GP if it carries on.

WoIsMe · 05/09/2026 14:25

@Astravangaany kind of weight loss can cause menstrual problems as oestrogen is stored in fat cells and released along with the fat.

Astravanga · 05/09/2026 22:37

@WoIsMe that's really interesting! I'm going to read up on it. And maybe worry a bit less x

With regards your nutrition intake, you've got to do what works for you. If eating what you want but less of makes you feel fuller, go for it. I suppose being on the jabs is about finding the right fit for your mental health, which obviously is impacted positively. I've seen loads of different videos on the different additional benefits Wegovy brings on top of weight loss. Agree about changes to periods being natural as well. Estrogen is a bastard when you're going through the menopause, like I am.

Hi I’m still here! So interesting to read about everyone’s experiences - v helpful. I’ve just started my second 0.5 jab, and for the first time on day 3 (yesterday) I got the dreaded sulphur burps! Better today so it may be a combo of too much coffee and right after jab day - not sure. But crazy hey? Literally 3 months in, 9 kg down (hooray) and first time for me w the burps.

Glad to hear you’re doing well on 1mg. Have you had many side effects?

I’ve ordered it for my next pen, but plan to click count to work my way up to it.

WoIsMe · 08/09/2026 11:29

How’s everyone getting on? This the first week of no loss at all for me but I’m sticking with 0.5 mg for now.

Slow and steady for me, started the 16th June, and so far I've lost a stone. And my BMI has gone from 28 to 25.8 and all my other indicators are heading in the right direction according to my very informative smart scales.

Second week of 0.5 and I'm not waking up hungry. Have lost a total of 9 lbs since 1st August. I'm seeing the difference in how my clothes fit. Only side effect is constipation.

Thank you. I'm on week 6 of .5 and the suppression isn't as good. Still trying to make good food choices. Having said that I had a cinnamon bun today as a celebration. 🤣

my husband took a photo of my face (for my passport renewal) and I can see the difference, but when I look at myself in the mirror I find it difficult to see the difference. Odd. But clothes which use to feel tight no longer do.

Lovely feeling isn't it !

One week of 0.5 and I feel much the same as the last few. Fuller quicker but still fancy something sweet, almost daily unfortunately.
I've been gaining and losing the same couple of pounds for the last month but I'm not overly worried for now.
I have lost 17lb since I started so that's what's keeping me going. Ideally I'd like to lose 20lb by Christmas and I should have my BMI in a healthy range by then but I'll just have to see how it goes.
I fear I may have to introduce some kind of exercise into my routine now but I've no idea what!

LuckyHazelFox · 08/09/2026 20:11

Has anyone noticed things you used to like you're now meh about? I have got a different outlook on alcohol now.

Strength training is what we should be doing. I was an avid gym goer before all the heatwaves we had. And tbh I didn't really go much during the summer. I kinda fell out of love with it. But I'm trying to get back into it.

I do walk my dog everyday. And often do a home workout. Plenty of YouTube to choose from. I really like Grow With Jo. She has a lot of gentle workouts.

I agree. I do 10 minute strength training with Joe Wicks most days using dumbells. I take the dogs out on runs as well. My worst nightmare would be loose skin through losing fat and not replacing it with muscle. My goal is to get down to 10.5 St. I started out at 12 St 11, a lot of which was water. I've got a stone to go and want to carry on losing that at 1-2 lbs per week. Well done to all of us x BTW, the scales can not reflect your actual weight loss when you're strength training due to muscle mass.

WoIsMe · 09/09/2026 09:22

@TicklishBiscuit nearly into the healthy BMI range is a fab achievement. Well done!

@LuckyHazelFox I’ve resorted to eating lots of kiwis and raspberries for fibre to help prevent constipation. I bought some Movical but it’s so sweet I can’t stand it. I went right off chocolate when I started Wegovy but it’s started to creep back in over time. I do still drink alcohol but much more slowly than I used to and in smaller amounts.

Regarding exercise, I do Pilates and kettlebells that I can do at home, but not often enough. I also do parkrun every Saturday. I have done the 30 Day Shred in the past which might be a good one as it’s only about 20 minutes long and you can add light weights into some of the exercises like punches to provide more weight training effect.

After complaining that I didn’t lose any weight last weigh in, my belt is one hole tighter today so it’s looking good for this Sunday’s weigh in. Smile

You're bossing it with all that exercise and will see a big shift. Thanks for the tip on constipation. Good look on next weigh in x

Thank you all for the suggestions, apart from a bit of Zumba 15 years ago I haven't done any type of anything since school PE which was a very long time ago!
But I definitely need to do something.

Oh no. I think I might have to give it up . Been on since June, increasing every month . Currently on 1mg which is when I really started to lose . But ....the sulfur burbs , the bloating , the constipation and nauseau are getting to me . Then I don't do myself any favours because I was taking colpermin , Gaviscon , Rennie's during the day . And currently stuck to the toilet with painful diarrhea. I don't know if I can do this any longer as feel so sick . No point in losing weight if I am trapped in the house . And I just jabbed again tonight . If anyone has any advice or ideas I'd love to hear them .

Can't you go back down a dose? I don't think I'm going to bother increasing to 1mg because of side effects and already losing on 0.5. Are you with a healthcare provider who can guide you?
