BMI under 27 - Off Label/less to lose

I am mid 40’s and just can’t lose the weight like I used to. I’m fed up of losing and gaming the same two pounds. I’m about a stone and a half more than my happy weight (where I would be approx bmi 23).

I have tried to find a thread for people who have been approved ‘off label’ Wegovy or Mounjaro with less to lose but couldn’t find one, so thought I’d start here. I have a BMI higher than 25 but less than 27 with a couple extra health conditions. Hoping to start after Easter. I’d like to stay with a very low dose if possible. Half a pound a week loss would be good for me. I really want to avoided side effects.

Anyone who is in a similar boat and wants to share experiences or ask questions, please join! X

So it’s week 8, day 1 for me.

I’ve not lost a sausage this past week and only 0.5kg the week before so I’m going to up my dose from 1.5 to 2.0. It’s great that I now have a pen so can adjust the doses as I go.

It’s my first time using the pen today and counting clicks. I’ve worked out that 48 clicks will give me my 2.0 dose. Any pointers I should be aware of before I give it a go from any of you doing the counting clicks thing?

I don't run seriously these days (since kids!) but I have trained seriously in the past. Pre WLIs I used to get out a few times a week but I've basically stopped entirely for the last month. I've had high suppression and I've struggled to eat enough to feel energised to run. I don't have much to lose and i've decided not to worry about it until I come back off. Could you try a sugary drink in the morning before you set off?

This all sounds very similar to me 😊I'd like to try and keep up running twice a week (even if slow) and some strength training. I'm going to try gels as I used to get on well with them for cycling and they should hopefully give that extra boost. Will also have a look at the thread suggested earlier...it's been so long since I've had to deliberately fuel for training as I was obviously consuming more than enough pre WLI 😅

First time you count your clicks draw it on the measure with a pen then you won't need to count again.

I click counted my current pen and it was fine, no locking after 4 doses or whatever.

haha, yeah, I know what you mean! Pre kids I used to do a lot of cycling too - me and my OH would go to the mountains with our bikes for holidays. I have memories of having to force the calories in to make sure I didn't bonk halfway up a mountain in the middle of the Alps. Feels like a life time ago now! If I can fit in a 5km jog round the block I am happy

@NinthBestOption that’s a great tip, thank you! I’m worried about losing count!

Sorry, another question, my provider has emailed me with a promo of £20 off this week only. If I buy another pen now in order to utilise the discount code, will it keep ok considering I’m only just starting my current pen today that I’ll be using for the next 5 weeks at least? Or should I not risk it and forgo the £20 discount?

It's fine to store them, you just need to keep it in the fridge and use by the use by date (which won't be in the next couple of months).

I missed my jab on Monday, was out the house from morning till night. I also managed to eat a whole packet of Jaffa cakes during the day.

These things may or may not be related 😬

Seriously though, I knew I wasn't making as good choices on Monday, but it was a bit of a shock to tally up my calories at the end of the day and realise I'd eaten around 1900-2000 (had to guess as ate out in the evening) when until then it was consistently 1300. Its not that I'm worried about that total for one day, just that I can see how easy it could be post jabs to put on weight and think I hadn't really changed anything diet wise. I barely registered eating the chocolate and didn't think my meals/portions were that much different to normal, but clearly if i did that every day I'd soon be gaining again.

I will definitely need to calorie count when I do stop WLI (and count before, not after, I've eaten!)

Is anyone a jogger/runner?
I'm only about to take second dose of MJ tonight. Didn't have any obvious side effects in first week but wow my easy pace 8k run was a STRUGGLE at the weekend! I could have been physically sick from about 4k onwards.
Suppression was high but I was still having about 1200-1400cals a day and had more carbs night before 6am run (never usually eat anything that morning as it's too early).
I'm training for a half marathon in October so just wondering if anyone has any hints/tips on how to lessen the effect on performance if possible.

This is one of the SEs that has hindered me the most (apart from hair loss)! I workout 5 times a week and for a few days after jab day I reallllly struggle with fatigue when I’m exercising 😔 It’s not as bad as when I first started on MJ (back then I had occasions when I almost threw up/passed out), but it definitely still affects my fitness sometimes.

I’ve upped my dose to 3.75mg as I had a few weeks of no movement down in weight and now I’m losing and putting the same kilo back on! Last 2.5mg dose definitely seemed to wear off completely after 4 days. Just did dose 10 and hoping the increase kick starts the loss again as I really want to hit my goal weight by my daughters wedding end of July.

Looking for advice on micro micro dosing. I’m in the
enviable position of having easily got to my target weight in 6 weeks on 1mg. I just can’t eat on MJ! (Which has taken a lot of the joy out of life for me, quite frankly, but that’s another story). I’m now actually under my target weight, and feel I am starting to look too thin. And I’m terribly constipated!

However I’ve also had dramatic improvement in my laryngeal reflux and in my symptoms which are related to suspected endo, and I’ve reduced my alcohol intake to negligible amounts, so I want to stay on it longer term if I can find the right balance.

I am wondering if 0.25mg is likely to offer some of the benefits but also increase my appetite? Otherwise I think I’ll have to come off it. Anyone finding success on a tiny dose?
