Thanks @Beachforever !

I had an odd experiment this weekend. I'm one of the people who finds wegovy reduces the pull to alcohol, so if I have drank whilst on WLI, I've just had the one and drank it very slowly, and it's had no real effect (I assumed because it was so little, and with a meal)
Id had a bit of a rollercoaster of a few days awaiting some news which actually all turned out to be fine in the end, but I was a bit shaken up. Decided to have a few drinks and consciously drank a bit faster than the previous times. I got zero buzz from the alcohol at all. I could tell I had drunk enough to have an effect, because I felt stupid - as in, I felt my brain was slowed down and my concentration was affected - and I felt tired. There was no feeling of relaxation or any positive feeling at all. It was completely switched off, very weird.

I'm not going to lie I was a little disappointed! But it did make me think that for some people, it could be a wonder drug re alcohol cravings, eg those trying to stay abstinent. Weird for a weight loss drug though.

Omg - same thing happened to me. I actually tried to get a bit pissed on Sunday and although I felt physically a bit off I had no buzz at all. I also felt terrible the next day. Interestingly, I’ve been reading about naltrexone recently which basically does the same thing (it’s a drug that people take when they are drinking to inhibit the buzz drinking gives, as a way to ultimately drink less / stop). It’s a good thing for me / I’ve been relying on alcohol too much and I’ve barely drunk since starting MJ. Now I know I also physically can’t get that pissed buzz I won’t bother trying again 😂

Hah, same! I hadn't realised naltrexone was used for alcohol addiction but I have worked with people prescribed it for opioid use and it sounds very similar!
I wonder if I can retrain myself to accept that what I think is hunger isn't hunger, it's a need for dopamine!
