BMI under 27 - Off Label/less to lose

I am mid 40’s and just can’t lose the weight like I used to. I’m fed up of losing and gaming the same two pounds. I’m about a stone and a half more than my happy weight (where I would be approx bmi 23).

I have tried to find a thread for people who have been approved ‘off label’ Wegovy or Mounjaro with less to lose but couldn’t find one, so thought I’d start here. I have a BMI higher than 25 but less than 27 with a couple extra health conditions. Hoping to start after Easter. I’d like to stay with a very low dose if possible. Half a pound a week loss would be good for me. I really want to avoided side effects.

Anyone who is in a similar boat and wants to share experiences or ask questions, please join! X

I agree @aquitodaviaas when I was losing, I don’t think I was eating that much less? I think it also affects inflammation in the body that makes us hold onto weight. It’s definitely more than appetite.

Just seen this slightly worrying chart on Reddit re maintenance. This is what really worries me. I woke up ‘starving’ again in the middle of the night. To the point where I felt sick I was so hungry. Yet I’d eaten very well yesterday - so there’s no need for my body to feel hunger like that. Already today I’ve had a chia pudding for breakfast and a cereal bar as I’m feeling hungry. I do get that I need to up my dose but I’m terrified that I’ll put all the weight back on once I come off the drug… eurghhhh

@ritala that’s interesting. I have very much conceded I will need to stay on MJ, and am happy to do so given it doesn’t feel a hardship with all the other benefits it brings, but that chart is making me wonder if I’m being unrealistic thinking 1.25mg will be enough to support me.

I have not posted in a while, but after taking Wegovy for 2 months and feeling like death, i stopped jabbing and I have accepted that I might just be destined to be BMI 25-26 and I will have to work hard to stay there to not go back to 38 where I started. I’ve given up even trying to get lower.

SandwichesAndGingerBeer · 04/06/2026 15:47

@ritala I someone worry about the hunger when stopping too however I am reminding myself:

  • I am going to be on it for a very short period of time
  • My dose is never getting above .5
  • I am not losing a huge amount of weight.
  • I will still be better off losing 9kg and trying to maintain that than I was 9kg heavier and trying/failing to lose weight.

Sorry you've had that experience, but just wanted to acknowledge what an amazing achievement!

I’m on my last jab of my first pen and need to re-order for next week. I disposed of the box with my prescription details on 🙄 so can I just start from scratch with a different online pharmacy to get a better deal? Or do you need to give them your MJ history?

Is your bmi high enough for another prescriber? Can you just do the next month with your current one?

If you are wuth voy you can request a copy of your prescription..

Greenfingers37 · 04/06/2026 21:12

My BMI was 29.5 and it’s now 28.4 so yes.
Just trying to save some money really as it’s £50 more than i paid for my first pen.

Hi guys, I'm 7 jabs in, last 2 at 0.5mg.

Not as starving as I was but still hungry, no off switch, appetite very normal for me and I'm making excuses to eat biscuits.

I'm still managing OK in terms of calories, not gaining. Period is due so I am hoping that's my issue and I'll be back on the wagon in a few days.

My next one is a 1mg, I'm going to stay on 0.5mg for a while longer.

Its so interesting to hear the updates, we're all seeing such different outcomes and it's all still in flux. I imagined a nice steady weightloss given my adherence to my diet, just shows it's about so much more than just calories.

I hope you're doing well ladies x

The Guardian published an article today saying those on jabs were 30% less likely to develop breast cancer (I’m very much simplifying that headline, I don’t think it was hardline evidence but a trend they noticed in some recent data, nothing concrete) but I find it fascinating all these good news stories coming out. They seem to far out number the bad ones!

That’s probably because of the weight loss rather than the drug directly, as being overweight increases risk of bc because adipose tissue produces oestrogen which increases bc risk.

JustBlossom · 05/06/2026 00:16

Just jumping on…I’ve taken my 7th dose of wegovy this evening (my third on 0.5). No real SE’s at all so grateful for that.

Feeling a bit deflated as the scales haven’t moved in two weeks. I’m tracking in MYP daily - even weighing oils, butter etc and easily sticking to a calorie deficit, hitting my protein, 10k steps a day, and at least x2 weight based workouts a week. And still nothing.

I know it’s not a race and slow and steady was always my motto, but I had used AI at the beginning to predict my weight by 8 weeks and it was suggesting I’d be another 5lbs lighter by next weekend which isn’t going to happen (I have a big work event to attend so had set that as a goal).

Still this is the lightest I have been since January 2020 so think I need to give my head a wobble 🤷‍♀️

I’d have to dig it out again but I believe the study was actually done across people losing weight, it was specifically looking at wider benefits of MJ use compared to women losing weight in other ways. There were lots of caveats with it though, it could still be other correlated reasons etc.

JustBlossom · 05/06/2026 10:48

Soooo I weighed myself this morning (my usual weigh day) and I’ve lost 2lbs! Literally in 24 hours! Which is mad. So all my feelings of deflation yesterday totally unnecessary 😂 that’s a 7lb weight loss total in 6 weeks.

SandwichesAndGingerBeer · 05/06/2026 11:03

Took jab 8 today. I’ve done 4 x .25, 1 x .375, 3 x .5

I’m 69.1kg now, down from 74.6kg. Height 169cm.

kljdhs877 · 05/06/2026 14:43

Just had an email from SwiftDr that they’re bringing out weightloss tablets soon

Interesting - is this wegovy in tablet form?

OnTheTop · 05/06/2026 16:16

Great to hear how everyone is doing!

I had a lovely comment about how glowy my skin is looking. It’s definitely the jabs. I’ve noticed a huge difference.

OnTheTop · 06/06/2026 08:47

8th jab tomorrow. Still on 0.25mg.

After a couple of weeks of plateau or slower loss I was so happy to see I’ve properly dropped down under 10 stone this morning 🙌. I was so delighted i even took a photo of the scale 🤣

I never would have been able to keep consistent through the plateau without the jabs. I’ve gone from 67.4kg to 62.8kg. That’s a BMI of 25.5 to 23.8. So pleased!!!

NinthBestOption · 06/06/2026 11:02

The pills sound interesting. From what I've heard they're a little less effective but a lot cheaper.

Taking daily might avoid the SE from the fluctuations associated with a once weekly jab.

Proteinpudding · 07/06/2026 09:01

End of my third week and in total I'm 3.5kg down, and while I'm never quite sure of my measuring technique, I think I've maybe lost an inch off my waist and hips. My jeans are certainly feeling a little more comfortable than they were!
I don't have a goal weight in mind but I think at this rate I might not need my third pen (I signed up for 3 months) unless I have a major plateau of course!

SandwichesAndGingerBeer · 07/06/2026 09:13

For those of you who have switched to Swift Dr, can anyone share their pricing? I can’t see anything on their website.

I’m about to go into my final month of my 3 month subscription with Voy and I’m thinking of getting just the one extra pen to allow me to taper off rather than stopping suddenly.

kljdhs877 · 07/06/2026 09:31

@SandwichesAndGingerBeer MJ or Wegovy? If you go on the Monj website they should all be there. I pay £149/£169 for 2.5/5mg MJ.
