BMI under 27 - Off Label/less to lose

ritala · 29/03/2026 12:17

I am mid 40’s and just can’t lose the weight like I used to. I’m fed up of losing and gaming the same two pounds. I’m about a stone and a half more than my happy weight (where I would be approx bmi 23).

I have tried to find a thread for people who have been approved ‘off label’ Wegovy or Mounjaro with less to lose but couldn’t find one, so thought I’d start here. I have a BMI higher than 25 but less than 27 with a couple extra health conditions. Hoping to start after Easter. I’d like to stay with a very low dose if possible. Half a pound a week loss would be good for me. I really want to avoided side effects.

Anyone who is in a similar boat and wants to share experiences or ask questions, please join! X

@OnTheTopthats reassuring to hear and @kljdhs877thank you, only a couple of weeks of no loss so I will persevere for another week and then consider an incremental climb if necessary.

I'm at a similar stage, and same issue. I've just done my 8th jab today and have climbed to 0.375 - perhaps I would have seen more movement if I'd waited but I'm also happy to nudge up a little and see how it goes. Hoping it doesn't increase side effects, I feel better about it than stepping right up to 0.5.

Hi 👋 been reading through a few threads and please can I join along? Feel there’s a bit of judgment around lower bmi people using weight loss injections like we don’t deserve to use them 🤷‍♀️

I’m 11st 5lbs (72kg) and weight has slowly been creeping on since having my second baby a few years ago. Always used to be 10st 4lb pre children but was never happy there, so would be amazing if I could finally get around 9st 9lbs (61kg). Also have PCOS so really need to lose a bit to mitigate any health issues that could arise from the extra weight. And I just generally want to be a healthy role model for my kids.

Just started my first dose of Wegovy today so we’ll see how it goes but I’m reeeeeallly looking forward to the food noise going.

Clearly quite a few of us are seeing the same thing happen at similar stages. Let me know how you get on with the jump up to 0.375!

Hi all, glad to see everyone's staying on track.

I am still struggling with extreme hunger, stomach feels empty and rumbles but also there is just nothing I really fancy eating and when I do eat I find I can't eat much.

House is currently full of chocolate after a MIL visit. I could happily eat that and finding it hard to resist.

7th jab tomorrow, I'm hoping it'll calm the cravings and I think I need to find something more appetising to eat. Maybe a curry.

So just to report back I have just ordered my second pen from SwiftDr after switching to them from Voy (BMI was 23 I think?) they sent a reminder about 4 weeks later to order another pen, but I left it another couple of weeks, and I just did the order form, decided to go down to 2.5mg, gave my deets, and it was all approved and dispatched within about 30 mins.

Proteinpudding · 01/06/2026 11:25

@kljdhs877 at what stage did you apply to Dr Swift? I signed up for 3 months with voy, my second pen is due this week so just thinking of when I'll need to apply. I want to make sure I have enough time that I can still request from voy if I need to, just in case!

I think it's likely I'll have lost the weight I want by the end of the three months but I'd like to buy another prescription just in case, either for a maintenance dose or to go back on if I regain.

kljdhs877 · 01/06/2026 12:20

@ProteinpuddingI was microdosing on a Voy 5mg pen, so I had time to start up with SwiftDr without worrying too much about timings (although it was very quick anyway), I delayed my 4th jab with Voy to make sure I was accepted by SwiftDr before completely cancelling. I also did a 3 month plan with Voy.

Piccalino3 · 01/06/2026 12:28

Do SwiftDr inform your GP? I’m just about to start with Voy and went with them because they don’t inform my GP - I
just don’t want it on my records but obviously would inform them if I needed any treatment etc

kljdhs877 · 01/06/2026 12:44

I left the GP surgery section blank. When I spoke to them they said they recommend it but don’t have to.

Proteinpudding · 01/06/2026 12:48

Thanks @kljdhs877 I think I'm assuming it'll be difficult because of being at a low BMI, though I have to remind myself that with Voy it was all super quick, I applied, did a consultation and had a pen 2 days later!
I imagine Voy will send me lots of hints towards my plan coming to an end so will try them once I've got the last pen.

kljdhs877 · 01/06/2026 12:52

Honestly it was all really simple. To be fair to Voy it was very seamless to amend my order and then cancel, and I had my first SwiftDr pen the following day I believe it was (if not the following, not more than 2).

NinthBestOption · 01/06/2026 14:05

When I'm on 2nd dose of my 3rd pen I plan to email voy and say i can't afford to continue with them. I've seen a few reports of them offering a discount.

Otherwise I'm switching. Cuva have good reputation and price. Then Swift Doctor when BMI gets lower for maintenance.

aquitodavia · 01/06/2026 14:10

I switched to SwiftDr and it also only took about 30 mins, super easy.

Proteinpudding · 01/06/2026 14:58

Thanks all. I think even if Voy did offer me more of a discount at the end of my subscription Id switch, as SwiftDr seem the best for maintenance, in that they allow you to space out pens. I'm hoping I won't need maintenance doses, but I don't want to rule it out!

I feel like I'm not that far from a goal (I don't have a specific weight in mind, more about my proportions and how I feel) I was a little shocked to realise that getting down to BMI 19 (which I believe is when most providers would stop prescribing) would be another 10kg! I have no intention of going that far, just shows how broad a healthy BMI range is I suppose!

Fourkgtogo · 01/06/2026 16:46

I had my third jab last night, weigh in this morning and I’ve lost another kilo! I would never have got rid of 2.4kg in two weeks without the help of this - I’ve cut out snacks and significantly cut down on booze. Eating usual foods and still no side effects to report (so far). I have ordered my second pen and hoping to continue this journey for a while longer. Ignore my user name as I still have 5-7 kilos to lose. Well done everyone ❤️

Proteinpudding · 01/06/2026 17:21

Congrats @Fourkgtogo , sounds like we're very similar - I did my third jab today and I'm down 3kg from what I think my weight was (was a bit higher on my consultation, weighing in the evening instead of first thing!)

I have drank alcohol a few times but only had one drink each time. Alcohol, chocolate, cheese, crisps, I'm completely indifferent to. I wish I could feel that way all the time!

Fourkgtogo · 01/06/2026 17:42

Thank you @Proteinpudding
I didn’t think I would cut down so much on alcohol - absolutely LOVE a vodka and tonic but yeah only really fancy ONE now (if that)! I am married to a feeder though so it’s like magic having the food noise switched off - Brilliant

lechatnoir · 02/06/2026 08:38

I’m looking at moving to Swift doctor as on-going costs are much cheaper than Voy plus I can order needles alongside for click counting. Does anyone have a first order discount and also, any idea how long it takes from order to pen delivered for first time? I don’t keep mine in the fridge so need to try and time it so it comes on my injection day (Tuesday but a day either side would be ok). If anyone is looking to start Voy give me a shout I’ll happily stick with them for another month if I can share my discount code!

Beachforever · 02/06/2026 11:23

Week 7 day 1 on MJ. I’ve lost 4.6kg these past 6 weeks and several cms off my waist, hips and thighs so I’m pleased with the progress.

But I’m not eating enough. I feel very dizzy whenever I get up from a chair and need to steady myself before I start to walk or I fall over.

I just bought a 2.5 pen so I’m going to use that for 8 weeks at 1.25 per week and then stop I think.

I only want to lose another 1-2kg so should be able to do that over the next few weeks.

BeaKind · 02/06/2026 12:15

@lechatnoir do you know how much discount the referral code gives? I’m thinking of switching from Juniper as I’d like to take out another intro offer from another company if possible and am looking at Voy. Thanks ☺️

Therulerofmyhouse · 02/06/2026 16:39

It appears my plateau has ceased! Back down to 66kg so it looks like maybe the hot weather had a bit of an impact.
Down 6.4kg in just under 7 weeks so a stone in total plus down quite a few cm’s on measurements. I am so pleased with the results, I don’t feel like I am depriving myself and minimal side effects.

In fact my skin is looking clearer and my usual peri symptoms seem to be less and I’m sleeping well. I think it must really help with inflammation in general (obviously this is purely speculation/anecdotal on my part)

My daughter is a dietician and was skeptical of me going on them but she has said that as they do help with insulin regulation and this can have a positive impact on inflammation and the huge flux in our body caused by peri.

OnTheTop · 02/06/2026 21:10

@Therulerofmyhousegood to hear your plateau is over. I’ve noticed improvements in my skin too. It’s been so much brighter and more even since starting the jabs.

kljdhs877 · 02/06/2026 21:37

Interesting to read about skin. My skin is glowing at the moment and even after a few weeks of lots of reapplication of sun cream I’ve not broken out despite usually having very acne prone skin (went on roaccutane years ago) clearest it’s been since I came off it actually! But I did start a bunch of other skin care stuff around the same time as MJ and I also drink a lot more water to stave off the headaches so that might be it too.

The interesting thing for me is I also struggle hormonally, bad PMT physically and mentally, and since being on MJ those symptoms really slowed down. I didn’t jab for 2 weeks which coincided with my luteal phase and it’s been the hardest one I’ve had in a while. I will be pleased to get the MJ built back up in my system.

kljdhs877 · 02/06/2026 21:39

The Guardian published an article today saying those on jabs were 30% less likely to develop breast cancer (I’m very much simplifying that headline, I don’t think it was hardline evidence but a trend they noticed in some recent data, nothing concrete) but I find it fascinating all these good news stories coming out. They seem to far out number the bad ones!
