I actually feel less hungry today so far. So maybe it was just the normal ebb and flow of appetite which is alien to me, as I'm not aiming for total supression. I'm also wondering if it were hormonal as I also looked like a tomato yesterday but had no fever. That's also disappeared. I have no idea of the full impact of my hormone supressing medicine.

I like the idea of a slightly higher dose, but I won't step outside what my dr advises as this risks are too high, seeing as my oncologist has to approve any dose change.

It’s fighting an addiction

Yes, isn't it just.

I doubt if thin people understand this. You know, the ones who never seem to feel hunger and who adjure us all just to eat less.

Like it is so easy.

It absolutely is an addiction - as I once read, the woman's addiction of choice - because we can be addicted at the same time as looking after everyone else in our family, doing the school run, managing the house, working, etc etc. We're not doing crack cocaine, we're eating extra chips in between everything else we have to do! I have a lot of empathy for addicts - both my parents were alcoholics, and if you've not been through it you don't understand. Not everybody who is an addict is lazy, greedy, evil, weak, morally bankrupt. Though admittedly some of them are - just like some people who don't have any of those more obvious and despised issues.

Thanks @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne for the thread and tag.
Had a colleague comment on my weight loss today as I was stood at the printer, we share an office and he sees me 3 times a week so I don’t know what was different about me today, he said I was disappearing. He knows I’m calorie counting but not that I’m on jabs, he is in to health and fitness in a big way so we discuss calories and macros, he keeps telling me I’m not eating enough but I don’t lose eating over 1200 calories.

Same here ..I stuck to 1200 or lower the whole time I lost 10 and a half stone .
Then when I wasn't loosing in January,I'm pretty sure now ,I was going over 1200.
I get people telling me all the time I wasn't eating enough
Nobody said anything when I was 27 stone and eating plenty though

MrTiddlesTheCat · 17/02/2026 11:06

How do you all handle pancake day?

SilenceInside · 17/02/2026 11:11

@MrTiddlesTheCat I will make pancakes for the children, and not eat any myself. They are out today with my DP whilst I'm working and so I will be doing pancakes for pudding after tea tonight.

Is there an expectation from someone/somewhere that you would be expected to eat pancakes today? If so, then I'd factor it in to meal planning/calorie counting and just have one with fruit rather than sugar, if possible.

Springflowers2 · 17/02/2026 11:23

Thanks for new thread broom

Just DS and my fat inner child. DH won't even know what day it is.

mamabeeboo · 17/02/2026 13:08

Thanks for the new thread. Placemarking.

It's half term, the kids are off school. I'm off work until Thursday. The change in routine has already kicked my ass. Snacks galore around the house, no time to exercise, no work to keep my mind busy and I have just polished off around 1000 calories this morning. Spaghetti, mac and cheese, fruit bar, piece of cake, wotsits. And I feel like I am missing something.

I jabbed 2 days early out of desperation, attempting to believe MJ is willpower in a jab, when it's not.

Getting quite nervous on this week, it's only Tuesday.

PearlsTeapot · 17/02/2026 14:04

I'm skipping pancake day this year. We'd usually have them for dinner with bacon and maple syrup. DS hasn't mentioned it, if he does I'll make some for him this evening as a supper thing but won't have any myself. I don't feel sad about it funnily enough.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 17/02/2026 14:12

We’re postponing pancake day - going to have pancakes for dinner on Saturday instead. I’m happy to have a calorific meal (within reason) of a weekend but not during the week. That’s a slippery slope for me!

re the addiction side of things, it’s so hard. I managed to give up smoking years ago, I don’t need nicotine to stay alive, we don’t need alcohol or crack to stay alive but we need food. Who remembers The Jetsons, they had a machine that produced a whole meal in a pill, swallow the pill and you’re full, I used to fantasise about being able to give up food and do that instead

Ketra · 17/02/2026 14:13

I used to love pancakes - would have a few most weeks as a dinner! I don't put much in the way of toppings on them so thought that was okay. However, for the first time, Mounjaro has made me dislike a meal I used to love. I made some pancakes on the weekend (as I hadn't made any in months and wanted to check my technique) and they were awful - it was just stodgy and not appealing at all. On one hand I'm sad as I did love pancakes, but at least it means I know I wont be tempted any more!

EnterSandfan · 17/02/2026 14:21

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne re thin people not understanding, you've reminded me I met up with my very skinny best friends a while ago. One was moaning about her husband's weight and they were sat there scoffing and agreeing things like "it's just a case of eat less, move more!" "Just small changes" etc. My fat self just sat there like 🙄
It's hard being around people who don't understand. It sounds nasty but I wish my friends would wake up one morning and be morbidly obese for a day (or a week!) just so they can see what it's like.

eibbed999 · 17/02/2026 14:28

So true @Iwouldratherbesinging - it's an addiction you can't quit cold turkey! I suspect that's why Lighter Life and Slimfast etc were originally so popular, it was a bit like the Jetsons!

Now wouldn't that be interesting, @EnterSandfan - imagine if the world went upside down overnight. Maybe all the chairs in the restaurants became massive, so anybody under a certain weight just fell through them onto the floor and the whole room laughed at them, or maybe aeroplane seatbelts are only designed for the obese, so thin people aren't allowed to fly. Or theatres don't allow people less than a certain size to come in, because it's a waste of the massive big sofa-style seats. And all the rollercoasters at theme parks ban you if you're less than 15 stone! But yes, I'd settle for them knowing what it feels like to be scared of using a public toilet in case you break it, or to be so ashamed of yourself that you say no to social engagements, or the shape and size of your body stops you being on pictures with your family. Uggh, it's horrible - and to people who haven't experienced it, it looks totally self inflicted!

@RenegadeKeeblerElf I made a New Year’s resolution to spend less time in the evenings on my phone / iPad either playing games or mindlessly doom scrolling. So I took up jigsaw puzzles again. I even treated myself to a proper table. I can’t tell you the difference it has made. My Screen Time is down massively and I’m even sleeping better

My new years resolution was also jigsaw related 😀

mamabeeboo · 17/02/2026 16:31

With the thin people saying "eat less move more", like it's so easy. I'd love to ask them how they would feel if they were expected to finish their whole plate, or expected to eat second helpings plus dessert plus snacks and carry on eating all day long. Let me guess, they "couldn't possibly do it". But I could do that all day because for me, it's so easy.

So you can't compare. But they feel so righteous.

Additionally, a lot of the time, they don't have very healthy diets, they would be the first to say they eat mcdonald's. But they eat so infrequently that burger would be the only thing they ate that day, hence a calorie deficit. I have a lot of thin friends who I go to dinner with, and the number of them that "save themselves for dinner and haven't eaten all day" , is mind boggling. I wouldn't even think about that.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 17/02/2026 16:59

Hmm. Something odd happened today.

One of the only friends who know about my MJ has now been on it for a month herself. She has lost about a stone so far.

Anyway, today she told me I had lost enough weight. I'm not sure if she's right. She may be. My clothes sizes agree with her.

But the BMI scale doesn't agree. It still thinks I'm overweight.

Essentially they're doing OMAD.
There's a lot of evidence that only eating once a day is very good for you.

I decided long ago that I would not be defined by my BMI, it gives “wrong” definitions for so many people that it is merely guidance. I would go with how you feel. Do you feel healthy? Do you feel happy? If you can answer yes to both of those questions then that is enough.

SilenceInside · 17/02/2026 17:23

Only you can decide what weight you're happy with @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne , whether that's based on clothes size, BMI, body measurements, fitness, or any combination of those or other things. Your friend has one perspective, which is fine, but is just one small factor in any decision making process, if you give it credence in the first place.

Given I've been told more than once that I don't need to lose any more weight when I was still obese, or BMI higher than 27, I don't really think most people are good at judging by eye!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 17/02/2026 18:25

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I think that between us we have proved that bmi is wrong, we are roughly the same height yet our sizes are so out of synch which must be due to how we carry body fat, I would probably need to lose another stone if not more to comfortably fit into a size 10, yet there you are.

If you lose another half a stone you’ll be edging on a 6 to 8 and is that healthy? It’s said that the older we get we need to carry a bit more weight. That extra weight protects us during illness and reduces the risk of osteoporosis.
Definitely something to think about.
But most importantly it’s how you feel, not how others tell you to feel.

AlicesMum2025 · 17/02/2026 20:20

Hi all, just popping in to share a NSV.

After 9 months and 7st loss I finally gave in and bought some new knickers. My 4XL were hanging off me, baggy and barely holding up around my waist. I bought some size 20..... And they were too big! Also baggy!

Currently wearing a size 16. They're a bit snug but not uncomfortable and will fit better next month hopefully. Ok, a Sainsbury's vanity size, but still, a bloody 16!!!!

In my mind that's a 'normal' size. I could buy a 16 anywhere instead of having to hunt down somewhere that sells size 26/28, most likely online.

Women's clothes sizes are mad though, aren't they? I only just got into my size 20 M&S jeans last week, but on the flip side I bought a size medium jumper. 🤷‍♀️

PearlsTeapot · 17/02/2026 20:54

Well done @AlicesMum2025 on the new knickers!

I'm still in the dark to what size I am. I bought new knickers though, m&s 18 and that felt good. I haven't been in an 18, however generous, for a very long time.

Billybingbong · 17/02/2026 23:10

Medicine Marketplace have just announced a price drop from midnight. Not a huge difference, around £10 less per pen, but it's worth a look. It will be interesting to see if any others follow suit...

MrTiddlesTheCat · 18/02/2026 07:20

This week's randomly generated number is 115.5 kg, which is a 3.1 kg (6.8 lbs) loss. I'm hoping this explains Monday's extreme hunger and it was just my body complaining about genuinely not enough food.

SW: 135 kg
CW: 115.5 kg
Total loss: 19.5 kg

Wallywobbles · 18/02/2026 07:31

Ive lost 5 stone which is nearly 30% of my body weight but don’t think I’ll loose any more. Been stuck here for 6 months I think. I’m hopeful for the next products when they come out. I’m still just in the obese category but feel pretty amazing most days.
