I have been surprised by the effect of the Diosmin.

N.B. their origin is partially from grapefruit so certain statins need to be avoided. I asked my GP to change the ones I was taking.

Mind you - I'm not sure I even need statins anymore. My last cholesterol reading was completely normal.

PearlsTeapot · 08/03/2026 16:49

That’s good about the cholesterol level!

I’m going up 4 clicks tonight from 4 to 4.5mg. Pray for me no diarrhoea!

THESE

I have ordered some (same ones but on Amazon as that means they will be here tomorrow) so fingers crossed they make a difference for me too! Willing to try anything that could make a difference to my chunky heavy legs

It took six weeks before I started to see a difference.

Here’s a funny little NSV! I can put my bag on my shoulder even though it has shorter straps. Even when I’m wearing a coat!

This. Is. Revolutionary!

Omg the bag strap struggle, I hadn't even thought that could be over too! I gave up on bags with short straps long ago.

Theringcycle · 09/03/2026 12:58

Great news on the bag, @TragicMuse!!

I am 4 days into 5mg and have felt quite a bit of “food noise” today in terms of thinking about what I’ll eat and pre-planning it. I had boiled eggs for breakfast but after a while felt hungry and then had something else including falafel and houmous a bit later (that does tend to fill me up quite a bit). I know I need to just keep on keeping on as I’ll be on 5mg indefinitely (unless of course I decide to pay privately which I know the vast majority of you do and that I’m really fortunate albeit through being unfortunate health-wise). I am looking forward to my planned dinner (tuna and veg with rice noodles). I am trying to base meals around protein to start with.

i definitely want different things - we got takeaway last night and the others had McDonald’s but I wanted (and had) sushi with edamame. I also realise that I haven’t had a “big” meal since I started, so something has changed. But I keep finding myself “testing” my brain - sort of asking myself “what if someone offered you x now? What about y? Would you eat that?”.

Billybingbong · 09/03/2026 13:31

I've just spent all morning sorting my wardrobe. I got rid of absolutely everything that no longer fits, except 1 top and 1 hoodie. I have no intention of ever wearing them again, but it seems my brain isnt quite ready to eliminate the old me just yet, so I'll shove them in the back of the cupboard for now 🙄. I now have a bag for the charity shop, a bag for the fabric bank and a huge pile for Vinted. Even my knicker drawer didn't survive the cull. I've been left with 3 pairs, so need to make a quick trip to the shops this afternoon, otherwise I'll be forced to go commando 😳. Ive finally chucked out the humongous snag bras I was wearing pre MJ, and also found some 52C bras I stopped wearing when they got too small. They are hanging off me now (I'm now a 38dd).

For anyone feeling a bit crappy about your progress, or just needing a boost, I thoroughly recommend a wardrobe reset, it has been really cathartic. Also strangely a little emotional, feeling sad for the old me. I remember buying the hoodie about 2 years ago, size 26, and being so happy it fit me. I could wear it as a dress now!

Doggymummar · 09/03/2026 13:45

Well done @Billybingbong it's quite scary getting rid of things. I sold m last size 26 thing on eBay at the weekend and they buyer left me feedback saying how small it was for a 26. It was a 54 chest . Current bras as 30 and feeling loose.

PearlsTeapot · 09/03/2026 14:40

Well done @Billybingbong I did the same a few weeks ago, and went on a shopping spree in m&s, Lucy and yak, broken society. I now have a wardrobe full of clothes that actually fit me and that feels good!

Now I just need to take the bags to the charity shops. I binned loads of clothes too, I wore so much cheap shit from Shein since that was all I could afford that fitted me and I wouldn't give that to the charity shop, that was eye opening, my daily clothes aren't even good enough to donate.

Billybingbong · 09/03/2026 16:08

Back from a successful shopping trip with a new stash of size 14 & 16 knicks, so panic over ladies, I wont be going commando any time soon 🤣.

@PearlsTeapot I dont want to buy too much yet until I'm where I want to be. It's not too difficult because the clothes shopping around here is shite, the nearest decent retail park is 40 miles away. I'll deffo be planning a trip there in a few months.

I agree about the cheap clothes. The bag I've just taken to the fabric bank was mainly tik tok shop work dresses and worn to death overstretched out of shape cheap tops from shein. Certainly not worth donating, and yet I wore them all the time!

EnterSandfan · 09/03/2026 17:15

That's a good point re wearing clothes that we wouldn't actually donate. I hadn't thought of it like that before but I definitely wear some rubbish I need to chuck out!
Guys, ages ago I bought a nice hoodie on eBay, the seller had listed it as a 20 but it's actually a 14. So I relisted it to sell on, but I tried it on earlier and I could actually get it on! It's a bit snug to wear right now as I'm nowhere near a 14, but I was so happy it's become a possibility haha, I've taken it off eBay to keep. Small things like this are keeping me going I think.

About 5.5 stone down and no one else has noticed, but I've started feeling and seeing so many differences.
Lately I've been feeling a bit resentful of friends who don't understand the struggle with weight (and are a bit smug about being thin), I know my weight is not their fault but does anyone else struggle with feeling like this?

EnterSandfan · 09/03/2026 17:21

I don't mean resent them for not noticing I've lost anything by the way, I'm not actually bothered, it's actually quite nice sort of doing weight loss under the radar haha. I find comments on it uncomfortable anyway

Theringcycle · 09/03/2026 18:14

@EnterSandfan I definitely struggle when people comment about how it’s just about making good choices or knowing about the right foods. I was at a training session a few years back when one of the segments ended with the lady drawing some kind of parallel with weight loss and how if people just did little and often that was all it took. As it was one where they were one of our service providers and I was the client and the head of my team, I did raise it with them afterwards as it was (a) wrong and (b) so unnecessary for the topic being presented!

EnterSandfan · 09/03/2026 18:42

@Theringcycle good on you for calling her out on it! Yep I hate that sort of chat. My 'smug' friends are like that, they'll talk about how it's just a case of making a few small tweaks here and there 🙄. Honestly if I "just" didn't have cake or chocolate for a week I wouldn't lose any weight, I have to stick to 1000 cals a day max and very low carbs, or else nothing happens 😆

PearlsTeapot · 09/03/2026 19:22

You guys need new friends, I wouldn't be friends with people who were smug about being thin!

The thing is that a lot of people just do not understand our issues.

To be honest my husband (who is in no way smug about it) just needs to do a "tweek" for a few weeks, like not have a chocolate bar in the evening and he will drop half a stone in 2 weeks, then he goes back to having that chocolate bar again for a few years before he needs to "tweek" again. It's so annoying!!! 🙄

TragicMuse · 09/03/2026 23:05

I was just trying on a few old clothes - the navy linen trousers I was hoping to wear this summer, decades old, from Next To Nothing which was a Next outlet/sale shop, and they’re too big! They were always my benchmark of skinnyness.

Cut down jeans which are my other skinny benchmark are a bit small yet but they have NO stretch!

And I did a side-by-side of just over a year apart. Man alive. It’s…weird! I look so much more alive. Happier. Glowing. It’s a sobering moment.

I’m going to show you my side-by-side! It’s me yesterday Vs my photos for the first prescription.

It’s still surprising me!

I’ve marked them as sensitive if you don’t want to see them.

Amazing progress @Tragicmuse I did this the other day too, but I'm wearing less clothes so they're not shareable 😂

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 10/03/2026 09:18

@TragicMuse that's an amazing difference!! I hope I can post something similar later this year, it feels so out of reach at the moment but seeing photos like yours make it feel a bit more achievable.

TragicMuse · 10/03/2026 09:38

It IS achievable @RenegadeKeeblerElf, truly!

Realistically I can see the difference in the mirror and in all the clothes that just don’t fit now. But looking at it in photographs it’s a different matter.

Fffreeeeezing · 10/03/2026 09:42

@TragicMuseamazing!

Does anyone else find when they see other people's photos, your first thought is 'I didn't expect them to look like that' (not weight related, stands to reason we're all either on, or started on the chunkier side!). I have no expectations either but my brain says nope, that's not what the subconscious image I had in mind 🤣 @TragicMuse my brain did not expect you to be blonde, no idea why!!
