@TragicMuse wow!! You look like a new person, amazing!

TragicMuse · 10/03/2026 10:16

My hair has been many colours @Fffreeeeezing! 😀

I was very fair as a kid, then it got darker as I got older. And curlier, weirdly. I started dyeing it with henna when I was 17 - I would have loved to be a red-head.

It’s been varying degrees of highlighted, red, reddish-brown, even purple a couple of years ago. I’ve never dyed it black though.

I need to bleach it again!

Janie934 · 10/03/2026 10:19

Wow @TragicMuse that is an incredible transformation.

I recently did a private blood test - one of the ones that checks over 50 different biomarkers. The results are so much better than the one I did in June 2024 before starting mj when most of them came back as being in the red zone. Now most of the markers are in the green.

I'm hoping that this week I'll reach my next interim goal of bmi under 35 so I still have a way to go to reach a healthy bmi, but its reassuring to see on paper how much my health has improved.

PearlsTeapot · 10/03/2026 12:06

@Janie934 thays great about the greens! Which company did you use?

@TragicMuse you look fantastic, what a figure you now have and I love your hair!

CatAtTheWindow · 10/03/2026 12:25

@TragicMuse Wow! Those photos are amazing. A real inspiration for those of us just starting out.

Billybingbong · 10/03/2026 12:46

Wow @TragicMuse that's incredible. What's the weight difference between the 2 photos? I did a comparison pic too at the weekend, and mine is nowhere near as impressive as yours. I might post it later if I'm feeling brave

TragicMuse · 10/03/2026 12:49

Thanks everyone! How kind you are.

@Billybingbong it’s just over 6 stone difference. 18st 11.5lbs to 12st 9.5lbs.

The company is called Medichecks.

I did the ultimate performance test, but they have lots of options if there's something specific you want to check.

It is worth signing up to their emails as they regularly do discounts (I think i got mine in the Black Friday sales 30% off and had 4 months to use it so waited until this month).

Some of the tests can be done at home and others you have to get a private blood draw - if its the latter then i suggest looking if there are any walk in clinic options nearby as my first test i opted for the nearest clinic which was by appointment only and for women the tests are best done on certain days of your cycle which wasn't the easiest to arrange. For the most recent one I picked a walk in clinic that was a 45 minute drive away which worked better.

Theringcycle · 10/03/2026 13:27

@TragicMuse what fabulous side-by-side photos! Very happy for you with such great progress.

Theringcycle · 10/03/2026 13:29

A NSV for me today as I am wearing a dress I got off Vinted that was the “right size” but which didn’t fit. Well now it fits! I’m only a few kg down but am pleased to have lost some off my arms as that’s an area of me that has always been big and I know that fat around upper extremities is a danger sign.

also today I am participating in a day of fast organised by work in solidarity with Muslim colleagues who are observing Ramadan and I feel… fine! 4 hours ish to go, but feeling fine!

PearlsTeapot · 10/03/2026 13:36

@Theringcycle that’s fab that it fits you! You’ve loads more of these happy clothes moments ahead.

well done on the fast. Pre mj I could never, I got nauseas and headaches when I was hungry. I could probably do it now though without any fuss! As a one off. I hate not eating.

How do you know what target looks like?

I can’t quite believe I’m saying this but- I’m starting to think about target weights. I’m 13st 10 as of today which is a BMI of 29.2. When I first started this journey getting from a BMI of 52.6 to 11st 10 and healthy seemed impossible but here I am 2 stone away. The thing is I don’t feel only 2 stone away. A while ago I decided actually to sneak into the 10s would be glorious so reset my target to 10st 13 but now that doesn’t seem low enough either. How far do you take it though? My healthy range is 8st10 to 11st10. I’ve never been lower than 13st something since childhood. I’m 41 and early peri so doesn’t have the issue of once one reaches 60+ I know there’s an argument not to go too low in the healthy range. I’m a size 12-14 at the moment, pear shaped but hate my upper arms. Weight loss slowing but not slow by any means, just a healthy 1-2lbs a week. I’m scared my viewpoint of my body is so warped I’ll never feel slim enough?!

That’s a lot of waffle but to all those ahead of me on this journey. How did you settle on a target?

CatAtTheWindow · 10/03/2026 15:00

Looking for recommendations for an app for calorie counting and logging weight loss please. There are so many available that it's difficult to know which one to choose.

user593 · 10/03/2026 15:01

@CatAtTheWindow I’ve been using Happy Scale and have been very ‘happy’ with it! But I know there are some others which are more focussed on WLIs.

I haven't set a target. I'm planning to see how I feel as I approach a healthy weight. At some point I will either stop losing because my appetite will match my TDEE and I'll have to decide whether to eat less or stop losing, or I'll be a weight I'm happy with, or I won't be able to get prescribed MJ any more. But I have literally never had a healthy BMI so I have no idea what weight I'll be happy with, I'm just hoping I'll know it when I get there. I think a part of me doesn't really believe that I ever will though, which might also be part of why I can't set a target - I've never known a time when I didn't feel that I should be losing weight.

I use My Fitness Pal and find it works fine for me, I know others on here recommend Nutracheck.

Onenotsosmallstep · 10/03/2026 15:28

@RenegadeKeeblerElf ’I've never known a time when I didn't feel that I should be losing weight’ is exactly how I feel. Now that it’s sort of in sight (relatively speaking), and a confidence that with time MJ will just keep doing it’s thing in the background, things feel a bit scary- like entering the unknown maybe. There’s lots of complex emotions in there- I’ve never felt enough because of my weight. So where does that leave me now?

Nutracheck for calories tracking but it includes a weight and measurements section too!
Happy Scale for weight tracking
and Shotsy for injection tracking

and an excel spreadsheet!

I love the data!!

I’m going to show you my side-by-side! It’s me yesterday Vs my photos for the first prescription.

It’s still surprising me!

I’ve marked them as sensitive if you don’t want to see them.

Oh m you look amazing 😍

I'm aiming for BMI 22 to see how I feel. But I've been at 26 for months so I don't know if I'll ever get there!

Fffreeeeezing · 10/03/2026 17:05

@CatAtTheWindow I use My Fitness Pal but I know a lot of us use Nutracheck, don't believe any app that says it uses AI to count calories by a photo, it won't be accurate.

Shotsy for jab tracking and weight tracking.

For weight tracking I use My Fitness PAL, Happy Scale, Better Weight and Lose It. Plus an intricate Excel spreadsheet designed by me.

Fitness tracking is Apple Fitness, Bevel and Ladder

I love data me!

Billybingbong · 10/03/2026 17:18

I use My Fitness Pal for my calories, Shotsy for the jabs, and Renpho for my weight which is connected to my scales. I love weigh day when I can update all my apps, and my notebook where I record everything too. It's my Friday morning ritual. I also have a 12 month food journal, but its almost full, and I'm gutted its been discontinued and can't find a replacement anywhere.

PearlsTeapot · 10/03/2026 17:51

I use nutracheck for calorie counting and I love it, so worth the money, it also tracks my weight, fibre and protein.

I also use Shotsy for WLI related things.

Janie934 · 10/03/2026 18:12

I'm another one that uses Nutracheck.

I used to use the free version of My Fitness Pal but I found it quite clunky. I do however still log my weight on it because I have weights recorded going back to 2014 so I quite like keeping it up to date.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 10/03/2026 18:16

Doggymummar · 10/03/2026 16:01

I'm aiming for BMI 22 to see how I feel. But I've been at 26 for months so I don't know if I'll ever get there!

So have I!
Looking in the mirror, I don't think I need to lose much more.

I'm 10st 8lb now. BMI 26.

Clothes are size 8 tops and size 10 jeans and skirts.

I've got dresses from last summer which are size 14 and they're all too big.

I'm 69 and I am still losing about 3lb a month. For some reason, I'd like to see the scales start with a 9. Even 9st 13lb would satisfy me, and that is 9lb away. Three more months to get there.

I'd still like my legs to slim down.
