Sorry, I wasn't trying to scaremonger. I thought people were interested in the changes.

Don't worry - I think most people here know you aren't in the UK. It's just that there have been a couple of posts here and on other platforms recently of people saying they had a new pen in the UK, then it turns out to be not true and they are reusing pics of european pens.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 25/02/2026 21:59

I've been involved in the research about this (not sure if anyone else has) and I think that's part of the reason why we've been chosen. It's a trial initially but will eventually be rolled out to lots more groups. There will be a kind of landing page for group threads, and group threads will have a tag underneath them. There will also be a button to start the new thread which will appear when it starts to get full. You'll be able to choose tags for the group to let people know what type of group it is (supportive, humour, etc). I think there might be more but I can't remember it all.

Edit - sorry I meant to quote Broon's post about the group threads trial

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 25/02/2026 22:01

Oh and there will be a button for new people to introduce themselves, to make it more welcoming.

Ah, thank you for your insights into this.
I'm not actually sure what being in a Group Thread is meant to achieve, but I'm all for trying things out.

Presumably when MN is sold, it'll be changed.

I think they're trying to boost the community feel of the site, possibly related to the sale to give it more of a USP as opposed to other social media.

A better USP would be to get rid of all the adverts.

Ah see, I pay for premium! Can't be dealing with all that, and it seemed a reasonable price to pay for a site I spend so much (too much?) time on.

Do you know how nice today was in my 15.7stone body?

Walked around the National Portrait Gallery, every room/floor - ✔️

Walked around Edinburgh shopping ✔️

Sat in a theatre seat without worrying if I’d fit ✔️

All of the reasons why I’m so happy to have lost the weight aren’t about how I look. They’re about having NSVs that give me a quality of life. Old me wouldn’t have agreed to go to the museum, let alone on top of shipping and would have been panicking about the theatre seats for months. It didn’t even cross my mind till afterwards.

Very grateful to be alive and on this journey right now.

I know exactly what you mean. It's amazingly freeing.

Weigh in and jab day

SW 140kg BMI 54.7
CW 94.2kg BMI 36.8
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

14 stone 12 lbs in old money. Just over 100 lbs lost.

I think my gym sessions are starting to have some effect. I really want to strengthen my core. Three CS followed by decades of self neglect have taken their toll.

PositiveAttitude · 26/02/2026 08:08

That all sounds so good @PearlsTeapot. So glad you had such a good time and life seems to be really looking up for you all round now. I also love the jumper and you look great in it!! One day I may be brave enough to post a picture here. 😏

There are some really inspirational stats here. Thank you for sharing them all. It keeps me going!!

Well, this morning my scales have proven that they do actually contain the number 15!!! Yay. I am 15 stone 13.8lb. Down 5.5 stone in 8 months.

I was looking at myself in the mirror trying to work out where the weight has actually disappeared from because my clothes size has hardly budged.
I think I have found it!! The bottom half of my bum looks like a deflated balloon. But I still have a "ridge" of fat at the top of my bum, meaning that all my trousers have to still fit over that and are just baggy everywhere else. I am thinking that once that "ridge" shifts I will drop a few sizes in one go!
Has anyone else seen similar?

GnomeDePlume · 26/02/2026 08:17

@PositiveAttitude I'm finding that I am still in a relatively large size for my weight because I carry so much of it round my middle. My bum and legs have slimmed but my middle is still resolutely barrel shaped.

EnterSandfan · 26/02/2026 08:34

@PositiveAttitude if I look at myself in more fitted clothes I can see I'm a bit smaller but if I look at myself naked I honestly can't see where the weight has come off 😆 it's so strange. It only seems to have come off my face! But 5 stones down and I've only gone down just about one clothes size, so I'm still wearing most of the same clothes!

I'm so looking forward to other NSVs like easier mobility, fitting easily in theatre seats, feet not aching, etc.
I remember years ago I went to Alton towers and was scared of not fitting on rides, I did fit but just barely. Lost a few stone after that and when we went there again it was so freeing not having to worry. Miss that feeling so much, not having to worry about things like that and just feeling normal!

UsernameShmusername2024 · 26/02/2026 08:35

Love that @PearlsTeapot! I'm the same as you- I'm doing this mainly to not have to spend so much of my life worrying and excluding myself.

I had a massive NSV yesterday - a friend and I took our kids to a waterpark and I went on all of the slides including the ones where you go down in 2 person or a 4 person ring. We went to the same place last year and I didn't dare attempt to get in a ring, probably was above the max weight limit and was scared I wouldn't fit. Also involved LOTS of carrying the rings up loads of flights of stairs which we not found knackering but I was able to find it a normal level of tiring I think, just wouldn't have been physically able to do it last year.

MCR24 · 26/02/2026 10:04

I've put back on the 0.5kg that I lost last week, I'm going round in circles with it 😭 still just in healthy BMI but won't be if this continues. I'm definitely on low calories but it's just so frustrating.

Theringcycle · 26/02/2026 11:35

Week 3 finished for me and I’d gone up a touch (from 125.3 to 126 KG, starting weight of 130) but I know this is all non-linear - I’m going to be looking more at the month-by-month picture, and also, a crucial thing for me is that with previous attempts a gain or STS would have left me thinking “I deprived myself for nothing” but I haven’t felt that deprivation now.

Springflowers2 · 25/02/2026 08:13

Well ,I've been ordering clothes from ASOS in their curve range ,with the lowest size 20/22 ..and everything he had to go back as they were massive on me .
So I've ventured in to the women's collection and found the exact same hoodies in 16/18 ...they look so small on the model, compared to the model wearing the 20/22...I seriously can't imagine they are going to fit ...I am most definitely not a size 16 ..I'm only just a size 18 ...
I get the feeling I may well be between sizes ..or maybe not all my size 20 clothes are very big on me ..
I'm incredibly fussy when it comes to clothes anyway..so add in trying to find the right size ..and it's not a happy experience

Surprisingly they all fit ,and are baggy on me ..didn't expect that

Missingducks · 26/02/2026 14:11

Week ??? (Started April 2025 so I will know when I am on week 52 ... ) And finally 5 stones / 30kg down (an Irish Setter apparently). Which is also 2/5 of my "dream of losing" flab. So next goal will be halfway point or 40kg gone. Plan to be there on or before my jabiversary.

Im constantly surprised how small I am. It takes a long time to get accustomed to our new size. So are you more like A14 then if the 16s were too big, or even a 12?

No no ...I think their sizes just come up big

MCR24 · 26/02/2026 18:10

NSV been to Asda for a look saw a dress in the sale there were plus sizes (now I no longer need them!), a size 14 and a size 8. Guess which size I tried first and then which size I bought 😁

All I still see is belly!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 26/02/2026 18:16

I'm happy to report that my heated throw survived being washed and is now back in service.

Had my own nsv this morning- the wedding dress I bought at 2 sizes too small for September fits! I am now on the hunt for a smaller one.....

Theringcycle · 26/02/2026 19:57

Love reading about all your NSV! Theme parks will be a big one for me as I’ve been getting by on needing to accompany my youngest on the little rides that are easier to fit on.

canaritini · 26/02/2026 20:11

I posted a photo of myself on Facebook today. One friend answered: "Canaritini?! You're looking good!" What the heck am I supposed to reply to that comment? "Yes, it's me. I'm glad you don't find me ugly anymore."?😬
